Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

The Christian’s prosperity is the heathen’s poverty.
God’s balance scale of real, heavenly Justice.
Amen 🙏
Amen, W_P! Ephesians 1:3 is one of my go to verses when this world tries to get me down or the old sinful nature raises it’s ugly head (which happens a lot more often than I’d like).
‘Also, I don’t know how many times I’ve read through 3:10 until it finally sunk in that God is using us to reveal His manifold wisdom to the powers and the principalities.
Great verse…1:3
Meaning, no matter what is happening to us negatively down here, He has still blessed us in the heavenly realms with EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING IN CHRIST.
The rest of the chapter is ethereal but also practical, spiritual truth about all spiritual positions God ordained and established.
Ephesians 2:6 is an astonishing revelation and quandary for the carnal mind to grasp.
This is my own personal thought about this thing of being seated with Christ in the heavenly realm:
I think Paul was saying, even for the living Christians, including us today, He has a least a part of our spirits with Him, seated with Him until the full revealing has come to pass.
It’s like He has His bag of jewels with Him until the day He openly displays His beautiful, perfected Body, the glorious church without spot or wrinkle He comes back for.
Like I said, just my thoughts. I’ll listen to anybody else’s view and consider them.
GrandpaM, you have pick a marvelous book to go to.
If more Christians would take the time to let the Holy Spirit of Jesus reveal the power of truth in Ephesians, they would come to understand how better to navigate through the troubled waters of our day.
Ephesians is the quintessential book of theology and church order in the New Testament.
If I had to choose one desert island Bible book? It would be Ephesians.
If allowed two, Ephesians and Colossians.
I understand…and then there is Philippians…😉
All Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit, meaning it is all a Jewel out of God’s very Heart!
Btw, love your posts! 🤗
Ephesians 1-3 so heavenly
Ephesians 4-6 so practical
I like your take on Ephesians 2:6. I think the evil one has been trying in so many different ways to distract us from the experience of being seated with Christ. Every now and then we catch a small glimpse. However, when we pass from this world or if the Lord raptures His church before that we’ll get the full experience. Can’t wait to see the Savior’s face and bask in the Shekinah glory.
I love this book too. ❗️👍❗️
Philippians, the epistle of joy.
Thinking of “today”, thinking of “now”:
2 Cor. 6:2 (cf. Isaiah 49:8)
“For He says: “In the acceptable time I listened to you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the time of favor; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Isaiah 55:6-7
“Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
Hebrews 3:15a (cf. Psalms 95:7-8)
“As it has been said: “If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts…”
Revelation 22:17 (cf. Isaiah 55:1)
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.”
—
Thinking of why:
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 5:24
“Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.”
—
Thinking of how:
Luke 18:13
“And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’”
James 4:8a
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
John 6:28-29
“Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.””
Mark 9:24b
“‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.'”
Acts 16:30-31
“Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.””
Thank you again for posting wonderful Scripture.
You are a blessing here!

Another beautiful version:
This is one of my favs.
I know I am going to sound ridiculous, but I listen to Christmas music all year long. It is sweet and lifts my spirit on many dark days of trials.
Right now, and since it started airing at the end of October on Sirius XM, we are listening to Holiday Pops.
I don’t know why they’ve entitled this channel as “pops”, because it is anything but. Just splendid, uplifting Christmas music in the most traditional sense.
From Praetorius and beyond, Christmas music down the ages which I’d bet most have never heard, from countries far away, from composers obscure to many.
It is joyous, moving, and sometimes tear inducing. I look forward to it all year. And we play it from the moment we wake up to the moment we thank God at the end of the day for the blessings he has delivered.
To me, it is holy music.
Montiverdi also composed some gorgeous music.
I would like to hear some of King David’s OT music!
Hi Bet!
Yes! I love this version, as well and was trying to decide which one to post! And, like you, I also listen to Christmas music year round for the very same reasons you noted.
Here’s another version that’s very lovely and a bit unique in its arrangement. Again, not a traditional choir, but so beautiful none the less.
Thank you, Sarah! Very beautiful arrangement.
This is one of my all time favorite Christmas songs.
This version is absolutely ethereal and beautiful.
Thank you for posting!
Merry, Joyous Christmas!
That was great, Solomon, thank you!
Your welcome, good friend!
Not ridiculous at all. ❗️✝️❗️

Looking forward to better times in Australia, soon.
Let’s go back to the good street music before the craziness hit.
Tuba Skinny – “Going Back Home” – Royal St.
This is one of the really great Tuba Skinny videos. Listening to Erica Lews, w’re transported back in time as she perfectly reconstructs an early 1900’s vocal, unadorned, completely frank, not entirely professional, but wonderfully authentic. And then . . . notice how the band seamlessly accepts the random kazoo player, giving him front-of=the-band status (and undoubtedly making his day). Tuba Skinny is a national icon. This band reminds of of who we were . . . and who we are. Thanks for posting.
Grew up in New Orleans.
I know.
One of my absolute favorite songs. The phrase . . . “Sure of my lines . . . no one was there . . . so perfectly defines my attempts at understanding love. I suffered the heartbreak of unrequited love—I was much to young to know how to avoid that—but, you know what? As I look back that whole experience was transformative. I went on to do things in my early 20’s that completely transformed my life. Looking back, I’m amazed at what happened—I did that? Well, yeah, I did. And as a result, everything changed.
After a good meal tonight, she said she wanted to watch her favorite detective show re-runs. She’s the love of my life, we’ve been married forever it seems (actually 54 years). We often communicate in halting ways on those days when she has trouble forming words. Sometimes it’s obvious she wants them to appear but . . . they just don’t. So we improvise and I usually can always understand. So, I noticed she’d fallen asleep, the detective show re-runs forgotten. I helped her up, walked with her to tuck her in bed. I told her I loved her and she found the words to tell me she loved me too. We shared the moment. Tomorrow begins another day . . .
“Vincent” by Don McLean …
Once I attended an opening reception at an art gallery, and this song came on. The memory of a friend who had committed suicide was still fresh, so I ducked into an empty artist’s studio in advance of the lyrics “And when no hope was left inside On that starry, starry night You took your life as lovers often do” … to cry where no one else would see …
The song ended. Returning to the rest of the people in the main art gallery, my eyes happened to catch sight of a glass sculpture engraved with the words “There is Hope.“
And there is. And it’s always there, although it may not be what we expect. My rule is—accept what is. When the chips are down, deal with it. The ability to do that is what make us. And we should always reach out to Our Lord in time of great need. He’ll always be there for us if we need him. His grace is always healing but, then, the nature of Our Lord’s relationship to us is that he expects us to help ourselves. Be well, Treeper friend.
This is why I have come to appreciate you here.
Not just for your great knowledge of guitars and music, but you’re recognition of life and what is the most essential thing among us of God’s Creation.
I have no other words.
Truly, you are one of the Body of Jesus Christ who encourages others here.
This is what I am going to remember you the most for.
Music is great!
But there are higher things in the Music of Heaven’s Choir.
Follow up.
Garrison, you let your heart out here.
I think that will bless Treeper readers.
Myself and many others who….well…
Well said Solomon 🌸
So many languages in the world, but music is one everybody can understand without the need of an interpreter.
Yes indeed!
And many different kinds and genres.
🙂
I appreciate the kind words but . . . really . . .I’m just a sinner like everyone else.
Like the rest of us, sinners saved by grace!
Glad to be in your company! I 🤗
I can say nothing else, phoenix, except that your post has made me cry this morning. I believe the message delivered was not a coincidence, as there are no such things. Thank you for your personal story.
Garrison, what you wrote (the words you typed and those you omitted) is so deeply personal and touching. I was so moved. The name “Garrison Hall” just became that much more vivid and reflective for what you shared, on top of the music you post that is also very rich and telling….
Thank you for your kind words. The open thread (thank you Sundance) has become an interesting experiment for me. I love writing, love posting music, love communicating with fellow Treepers. That said, I also understand the importance of maintaining a degree of distance. It’s a better way, I think, of describing the emotions that we all share.
We are, after all, disconnected in significant ways—that’s just the nature of the internet. But, then, being able to communicate in this way is important in so many different ways. It’s good for the soul, I think. We’re much, much better off for it. I’ve never done this before, ever . . . Thank you for your comments. Be well, Treeper friend. 🙂
Well said, Garrison
Disconnected in certain, but very connected in deeper ways.
Garrison–my mother always said–God won’t ask you to carry a cross you cannot bear–you have an expertise of life-living that many of us envy. You truly are a man of peace. Many blessings in the days ahead
Agreed. Joe. 👍
This Open Thread is a real blessing. It provides a platform for many people to share things they otherwise wouldn’t, especially for people who don’t engage in the non-stop chatter of social media platforms.
I also find this thread is a welcome relief from all the vitriol, hysteria, and distress that political news and commentary often bring…. I come and go, visiting quietly, sometimes posting, sometimes chiming in.
Your posts feel like a kind of heart beat of the tread. You have a hallmark regarding the quality of music you post, the nature of it, and the predictable series of three! And when you comment, I find your words to be very grounded and wise. And, as so many have noted, your very personal post above opened up a small window of humanity that hit a core of something very deep in many of us…..
Agree Sarah.
This is my favorite thread on the whole i’net!
🙂
Fully with you about Garrison.
🙂
Garrison, your expression of true love brought tears to my eyes reading your comment.
I undersatand!
God bless your heart of love!!!!!!!
I have learned, even being new here, your great of love and music.
My similar life understands you!
Bless you, Garrison!
🙂
Love in action. 👀 Beautiful
🙂
Garrison, like Solomon and Sarah your sharing of very personal moments touched my heart deeply. Don’t know why but my iPad screen went blurry.
Blessings!
🙂
And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
6. Thou shalt not kill.
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
A good reminder of Who is really in charge and directs all the actions of His whole Creation from Beginning to End whether we understand it or not.
This song is just sorta for everyone , I hope it posts.

❤️my father used to say…. it’s worth more when you have to do something to make it happen… seems fitting….this was one of his favorites and I needed to copy, paste and search to listen. 😎
Thanks for posting it like this and the memory it brought 😘
I hope my link works.
I’m hoping mine will link …
Man. does this take me back . . . I had this old TR4 and . . . well . . . you get the idea. 🙂
Like I replied to Frank, here’s another that will take you back to ’69.
Grew up in southeast Louisiana. Know bayous well. LA prolly has more than any state.
You don’t venture therein without knowing how to navigate the many channels or you’ll never make it out. But great trawling!
By the way, ’69 Camaros and Mustangs are the most numerous of restoration and resto-mods of any year for the two makes.
Great song. Great vid. Great post. Thanks
Couldn’t get the youtube video to play, but once I saw the title “Spirit in the Sky”, memories started pouring in.
That and other songs of the era.
Here’s another that will take you back.
Ok , didn’t work, I’ll keep trying to learn .
I will say this as a one off as I never have spoken about my music appreciation .
Mungrel mob holds a collection of mint condition vinyl records A collection that most would envy .
I was offered twenty yrs ago 2,000 $ American for the first colored vinyl LP of Jimi Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner .
I would hate to think what the whole collection is worth in money, at around six thousand it must be a lot , but money was never the point, the love of music was and is .
I have no money but would never sell our music on the contry they are recorded once and the original sound is given away for free.
Some here understand my past and the phrase ” saint or sinner” I freely accept,
The solice I find in music is the opposite of when I was forced to go to confessinal.
This might sound confusing to some but to me it’s normal.
I drunk scotch whiskey with Bon Scott when ACDC were a pub band.
If anybody wants to post the original film clip of ” Its a long way to the top” this was Mungrel home.
I’m actually in the clip!
Another band ( a little before my time) was the Masters Apprentices, an original Aussie band that were always underrated outside OZ.
The song ” Living in a child’s dream ” is one I always go back to when I need to think outside the box.
If somebody could put that up I’m sure that others here would see what I mean in enjoying understanding.
God bless Patriots.
Watched the ACDC clip on vimeo, bagpipes and all but can’t figure out how to post the link here. Tried to spot you in the crowd. Then had to look up the Master Apprentices and listen to the song. Nice.
Gotcha covered. Gave him 2 videos.
About a year ago, I picked up a set of vinyls of the whole works of Beethoven
Boxed with individual boxes of so many records per box. A doctor originally bought the set but never used it.
Each record is in its individual sleeve. None of the records have ever been taken out their sleeves. Never played. So the whole set is as new as the day it was sold.
I can’t imagine how much I could sell it on e-bay, but I wouldn’t eva!
I got the whole set for $15 from a store that buys stuff from estates then resells cheap. They were originally asking $75 but gave it to me for $15.
We had gotten close the man and his wife and had already bought a lot of stuff from them. I missed them when they were closed but he got tired of the long hours and they wanted to retire.
Here ‘ya go M…Courtesy of a fellow treeper:
Don’t know if I got the right one.
So here’s another:
Not quite as wild, but one of my favs from the Scorpions. Man, what an awesome voice, and love the guitars. Think they’re using phase shift amplification which is my fav way to hook up electrics.
Hate to admit it, but this song still emotionally moves me.
The one that I saw on vimeo is set outside in a square with a crowd around and bagpipes joining in. Guess that’s where Mungrel lived at the time.
I think that’s the one. I posted it with another to m.
Glad you know how to post the videos. I couldn’t figure it out 😟.
I posted it above.
Mungrel!
I luuuuuuuuv the geetar work in this one hit wonder.
The lyrics don’t quite jive with me because I’ve always been a sinner…though now forgiven.
I’ll probably listen to this 5 times today.
Thanks mungrel 💪✝️💪
Hey mongol , I’m laughing me guts out 😂😂 , I no more got than posting my self reply post than reading your response !
Picture me now !
Somebody said once about mysterious ways is how things work 😁 well you just proved the point 😂😜⛪!
See my reply to mungrel. Hope I got what he wanted, plus I threw in one of my old favs from the Scorpions. That man could sing!
Mornin’ infidels!
Funny but not if you know what mean. This cartoon is pure truth! 🙂
REPENTANCE
“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation.” 2 Cor. vii. 10
Conviction of sin is best portrayed in the words-
“My sins, my sins, my Saviour,
How sad ON THEE they fall.”
Conviction of sin is one of the rarest things that ever strikes a man. It is the threshold of an understanding of God. Jesus Christ said that when the Holy Spirit came He would convict of sin, and when the Holy Spirit rouses a man’s conscience and brings him into the presence of God, it is not his relationship with men that bothers him, but his relationship with God – “against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Thy sight.” The marvels of conviction of sin, forgiveness, and holiness are so interwoven that it is only the forgiven man who is the holy man, he proves he is forgiven by being the opposite to what he was, by God’s grace. Repentance always brings a man to this point: I have sinned. The surest sign that God is at work is when a man says that and means it. Anything less than this is remorse for having made blunders, the reflex action of disgust at himself.
The entrance into the Kingdom is through the panging pains of repentance crashing into a man’s respectable goodness; then the Holy Ghost, Who produces these agonies, begins the formation of the Son of God in the life. The new life will manifest itself in conscious repentance and unconscious holiness, never the other way about. The bedrock of Christianity is repentance. Strictly speaking, a man cannot repent when he chooses; repentance is a gift of God. The old Puritans use to pray for “the gift of tears.” If ever you cease to know the virtue of repentance, you are in darkness. Examine yourself and see if you have forgotten how to be sorry.

I remember this one well.
An honest conception of the spiritual progress from the start of the journey.
Almost a short synopsis of Pilgrim’s Progress.

The Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner.
Prayer of Saint Ioannikios the Great of Bithynia (+ 846)
My hope is the Father, my refuge the Son, my protection the Holy Spirit. O Holy Trinity, glory to Thee.

God, have mercy on our nation and protect our real President Donald J. Trump from all the evil, conniving things against him and his family…and all of us.
God, You helped our forefathers write some of the greatest documents in the Earth other than Your Scriptures that most likely inspired our founding fathers to produce those greatest documents for a nation that became the United States of America.
Please protect and preserve our Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights, all of which are being attacked by evil people and powers and corrupt institutions who want to destroy all the work and meaning of those documents that they hate with a passion.
God, You always willed and wanted liberty and freedom for all people.
This is under attack like never before in our nation of America and the whole Earth.
We need Your Help.
Please incline Your Ear to hear us and help us.
Blessed be Your Name.
Amen
Bless you and thank you for the repost.
A prayer like that is born out of agony and a heavy burden.
You helped carry that burden today!
Solomon posted the above on yesterday’s thread.
Great prayer 🙏
Today is the anniversary of 7 December 1941.
There are many alive today who, I suspect, would not know the significance of that date, Frank.
Going with your thought on that!
It’s up to us to educate as many as we can. Tomorrow I’m picking up from school my youngest grandson. At 6 and a half years old he is one very sharp little boy. We’ll have a 30 minute drive to start the conversation about Pearl Harbor and then the rest of the evening to continue.
Blessings, Betsy!
I grew up surrounded by WWII vets. An early memory is of listening to our neighbor, a former navy chief, tell of the Battles Of Guadalcanal. The Japanese were sending destroyers, cruisers, and even battleships down “the slot” to bombard our airbase. They came every night and all we had to oppose them was the PT boats in his squadron. And the Japanese destroyers, in addition to mounting 6 5in guns, were every bit as fast as our battle worn PT boats. It was an unequal fight and yet, every night, they went out.
A date of infamy!
Thanks much.
A tribute on this day that will live in infamy.

🇺🇸💪👍
Grace to you man! Well said.
My area is covered. Period. 💪✝️💪
Right there in heart and spirit with you.
We may know what happens next, but Almighty God knows every minute detail of it and all after.
Is Anyone Really Surprised That Bill Gates Had A Video Game Created For Microsoft Windows Called ‘Omikron’ In 1999 About Demons Harvesting Souls?
.
https://www.nowtheendbegins.com/bill-gates-microsoft-video-game-omikron-predictive-programming-covid-variant-omicron/
There was a movie by the same name (Omicron) in 1963 so Gates didn’t invent the name or the plot…
“Omicron is a 1963 Italian science fiction-comedy film directed by Ugo Gregoretti. In the movie, a deceased worker from a factory comes back to life after his body becomes inhabited by an alien.” (Source: Wikipedia)
But it’s not surprising that he would be attracted to that theme…..
On this 80th anniversary of the attack in Pearl Harbor the left simply cannot let the history stand and must try to revise it as they have so often. Here is an article from the Washington Post that is revisionist BS:
Opinions | What we forget when we ‘remember Pearl Harbor’ (msn.com)
The author of this crap piece has to ignore and omit much to try and draw an equivalency between US and Japanese Colonialism.
The first thing that stands out is that nowhere does the author mention the fact that well before the Japanese attack the US had formally guaranteed Filipino independence with Tydings–McDuffie Act in 1935.
That act was merely the final one in a series of efforts dating back to before WW I to set up a system for a gradual transition to Filipino independence that had failed. Several of the previous attempts had failed due to Filipino infighting. The promise of the Tydings-McDuffie Act was kept July 4th, 1946.
Of course the author had to ignore and omit that fact to try and leave an impression of some kind of moral equivalency between US and Japanese colonialism. He also had to leave out any mention of the well documented history of the brutal and murderous oppression for any people that became a part of Japan’s “Co-prosperity sphere”. Many Americans know of the Battan Death March, but how many know that the Filipino soldiers suffered much worse than the Americans during that murderous event? How many know that thousands of Filipinos were murdered by the Japanese for no other reason than the fact they were Filipinos when the US invaded and as the terrible battle for Manila went on? How many know just how much the Filipinos supported the US efforts during the war? Who were the Alamo Scouts and how, without them, the largest POW rescue in history could not have been pulled off? And so much more.
Rah – love your history reports and corrections
this is specially for you.
Years ago when hubby had an active ‘alternative medicine’ practice, one of our favorite resource people was Dr Alan Gaby. One of his specialties was checking various medical publications for ‘medical nuggets’, which he regularly shared via the Townsend Letter for Doctors.
Because of your combined background as a medic and an expert in parachutes I give you this from Dr Gaby, 2006:
Evidence-based medicine takes a fall
To determine whether parachutes are effective in preventing major trauma related to gravitational challenge, a systematic review was performed of all studies examining the effects of using a parachute during free fall. Data sources included Medline, Web of Science, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases. The main outcome measure was death or major trauma, defined as an injury severity score> 15. The authors were unable to identify any randomized controlled trials of parachute intervention. They concluded that the effectiveness of parachutes has not been subjected to rigorous evaluation by randomized controlled trials.
Comment: Advocates of evidence-based medicine have criticized the acceptance of interventions that have been evaluated only by observational studies. The use of parachutes during free fall is one such unproven intervention. The authors of this report suggest that everyone might benefit if the most radical proponents of evidence-based medicine organized and participated in a double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, crossover trial of the parachute.
Smith GCS, Pell JP. Parachute use to prevent death and major trauma related to gravitational
challenge: systematic review oCrandomised controlled trials. BMJ. 2003;327:1459-1461.
TOWNSEND LETTER for DOCTORS & PATIENTS – APRIL 2006
LOL! No matter what, no sane person can claim that the use of a parachute is not better than the alternative. Placebo? I would reckon the person suggesting that be the first to go.
As for paratroopers? The US has replaced the MC1-1B and T-10 round chutes of my day with a larger rectangular monstrosity. The reason being that they say that due to the load paratroopers are carrying, a larger chute is needed to minimize injuries due to impact on landing.
Anyone that knows squat about the history of airborne operations knows that paratroopers have always been overloaded when jumping into combat or even in combat training jumps. But a larger canopy with a slower descent rate is more dangerous. The slower descent rate extends the time when the trooper is most vulnerable as they descend hanging under the canopy. It also allows more time for winds to carry the trooper away from the desired landing area and for dispersing the stick.
i hear you rah
not combat environment….
one of the saddest ‘accidents’ i investigated when I was with the FAA (late ’70s) was the broken body of a jumper whose chute didn’t open. He was an instructor – and packed his own chute.
you can take it from there.
OMG 😳
Is rah DB Cooper?
Are you withholding evidence?
OMG 😳
Can we use little Tony Fauxi in the placebo group? Asking for a friend.
i’m all for it
Yes!
But how would that work in a quadruple blinded placebo controlled randomized trial?
I’m not sure either. But I am sure you and I would insist foul-chi got the placebo…from 30,000 🦶
Hilarious.
The true haters in WWII made enemies wherever they went. Their opponents made friends.
I have always wondered if the haters could have won by making friends. Especially when they fought against other haters. But that is not part of the nature of a hater.
When you find someone covering up the horrible acts of haters and equating them to the acts of non-haters, then you have found someone who identifies with that hate and will promulgate the hate and the horrible acts.
True, we do have haters amongst us. And some have led us to do horrible things. But only a hater can throw away all of the good things, dismissing the good people and their acts of friendship. Equating good with hate. Again haters do what is in their nature.
Besides, evidence that there have been haters amongst us in the past is proof that we have to be on guard against the haters amongst us now. Not by labeling and demonizing others, that is what haters do. But by calling out hateful actions as horrible and as acts of hate. And by opposing those actions with good people and acts of friendship.
I apologize for the abstraction. I hope that it can actually make things clear.
I also leave out love, and good vs evil, though they are a implied. And I left out the ability to change oneself. All of which, love, good, repentance, come from God. But this evil world that needs God most, has been conditioned to reflexively reject God. Hatred and friendship can still be recognized in this world and used to help those who are unwilling to accept or desire help from God. Maybe with this help, they can change.
Of course, with the hate and horrible acts now aimed at us, we can change in bad ways as a response. It is up to us to hold onto all that is good and keep rejecting hate. And of course that means holding onto God and asking Him for help.
In a nutshell. I believe good people of conscience know that they are doing something wrong when they do it and will have remorse for having done it. When evil takes over a person convinces themselves that the wrong they are doing is actually the right and just thing to do, and feels no remorse for their act(s).
Your second sentenced labeled the whole left!
For those interested to take the time to listen to Episode 1: Design for War from the Victory at Sea series.
Thank You For That. My Dad was a LT in The Navy. I remember this music from Victory at Sea he watched all the time when I was a very little girl. Gave me “Chills”!
My dad wanted to be a Navy pilot, but he got TB. That ended that. But later got it again. They wanted to remove a lung. He refused, asked God to heal him…He did…and dad went on to earn His music degree at Loyola with a magna cum laude title.
He passed not too long ago at 88. He never had TB again
Seems God had different plans.
Had he become a pilot, I would have never been born.
He met my mother in a TB sanatorium. She also was a patient but died at 27.
God has His strange way of getting some of us to birth through terrible pain.
Thank you for sharing that, SSL.
For sure
I can see Pearl Harbor from where I live. My next door neighbor was a little girl living in a town outside of Manila. She remembers the Japanese running tanks into the town square, rounding up the men, and never seeing them again. We can argue about the Philippine Insurrection (what the PC author calls Philippine-American War) but a major part of it was fighting Muslims on Mindanao.
There is the question of Teddy Roosevelt negotiating an agreement with Japan where the US would not object to Japan’s colonization of Korea and Japan would not object to the US colonization of Philippines. This has been a matter of some resentment in Korea.
Book: The Rape Of Nanking by Chang details Japanese atrocities in China also.
You want to read or listen to it.
Thanks again for your informative posts.
Valid points.
Victor Davis Hanson also sees the current frequent, deliberate misrepresentation of history today and has published (in American Greatness) a pretty decent & brief summary of the events leading up to Dec 7

BE MY VOICE
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, amen.
Got a call. Seems that the regular team that usually delivers Wreaths Across America down to a couple cemeteries in Texas had an accident and may not be able to do it this year. They called me to volunteer to team with someone else to do it and I did so.
I have taken part in this excellent program in the past and teamed up to Maine to pick up the wreaths and bring them back to Anderson then another team takes them down to Texas. The people that put the wreaths together and ship them up there are great! The guy that does this is a big blueberry farmer. During the off season his workers put the wreaths together, box them, then ship them from the same warehouses used for the blueberries during the season.
When you go up there to that little town there are big trucks everywhere waiting for their loads of wreaths to take all across the country to be placed on veteran’s graves. When I did it we parked in a store parking lot a couple miles from the building where the drivers hang out waiting for their time to go to the docks to be loaded. Volunteers drove us to that building where there is food and pool tables. It is really quite an operation and they treat us truck drivers great!
This is an example of the REAL AMERICA that we all know and Love and the leftist with their COVID and crime can’t kill it.
I had occasion today to visit a Hobby Lobby store nearby.
No Bare Shelves
Lots and Lots of ‘stuff’ for folks who like to make things
I always considered anything handmade a more valuable Gift
Sorry my eyes won’t let me knit or crochet . Its not the needles and stitches – its the instructions
Wreaths for cemetaries are very special
I love Hobby Lobby!
Hollar if you’re ever in my area code. 903
I’d like to shake your hand.
Beware lest ye fall into the pit yourself.
Will and intellect!
Will driving your intellect creates one mind.
Intellect equal or greater than will creates a broken life.
We see the complete hypocrisy of the left liberals, but do we see ours?
When we say we believe one way yet live another, it is intellect above will.
Faith without love is dead. As light without warmth.
Love must be first for God then our neighbor, and I have never read any place in Gods manual for love of self.
Our place, job, condition, is to bring as many to God as possible. And in ‘love’ we pray the prayer of faith.
It is no coincidence evil has risen. Love must be not only spoken but acted out and lived towards our Lord and our fellow man.
That is ‘will’ over ‘intellect’
To intend love and do. Double minded man can expect nothing, that’s in James.
Great spiritual synopsis!
I agree about the self-love thing that is a carnal self-made doctrine more than ever today.

I will post this in 2 or three parts because I doubt it will make it through as a single post:
STRATEGIC PLANNING BY WISHFUL THINKING (Part I)
Military planners tend to be an optimistic lot. After all, there are so many things that can go wrong in war that one has to have a pretty positive outlook in order to have any faith in success whatsoever. But optimism can be taken to extremes. And perhaps never in military history has wishful thinking come to substitute for solid planning as much as in the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II.
For example, during staff wargames (simulated operations on paper, using elaborate rules), it was not uncommon for umpires to allow “operations” to proceed despite an absence of supplies. They often permitted units to “refuel” from tankers that the fleet did not possess, without loss of time, so that the planned operations could proceed as scheduled.
But there were worse cases of cheating at wargames than the refueling gambit. The Japanese naval general staff held a major wargame as part of the planning for the Midway operation. Early in the game, the American player managed to “sink” several of the attacking carriers, an event that so upset the umpires that they restored the carriers to play. Even the subsequent disaster at Midway did not prove a salutary lesson.
Aware of the shortcomings of these earlier wargames, the Japanese decided on a new approach. Shortly after Midway, there was another wargame with even more interesting results, and interesting players-namely, Japanese diplomats just returned from the United States. During the early part of the war, all the belligerents, including the United States and Japan, had arranged to repatriate diplomatic personnel (including military attaches) who had found themselves trapped in enemy countries by the outbreak of hostilities. This was a time-consuming affair, as elaborate arrangements has to be made to ensure the safety of the ship carrying the diplomats and their families, the Swedish liner Gripsholm. As a result, a number of senior and middle-ranking Japanese naval personnel actually spent much of the first eight or nine months of the Pacific war living in relatively comfortable circumstances in the United States……..

Has anyone here heard about the Vatican preparing for papal conclave because the pope is dying? My friend just sent it to me but I am suspicious of its content (not because of my friend, but because of MSM lies, agenda, etc.). I just read the title, not any associated story.
I guess I tend to believe something more when I see it here first.
I tried rooting around for news, and he recently finished a trip. So, it is not likely that he is on his death bed. But you never know, he has been quite vigorously throwing away biblical teachings and is creating many divisions as he tries to mend old divisions.
Pope Francis heckled by Greek Orthodox priest: ‘You are a heretic … repent’ – LifeSite (lifesitenews.com)
Yes, Newsmax just confirmed this. I’m surprised because the Pope was in Greece two days ago and looked fine. How can he be in dire health as they are reporting?
Thank you Jim and June. Interesting, so we’ll have to see what happens.
Maybe he got the experimental biologic injection and is suffering Adverse Events.
STRATEGIC PLANNING BY WISHFUL THINKING (Part II)
When the last batch of these officers returned to Japan, shortly after Midway, they are deliberately not briefed on the status of the war as understood by the Imperial Navy, and were organized into a team to play the American side in a simulation game that was to cover the next two years of the war. The idea was sound, as these officers, one of whom was a rear admiral, had had full access to the American press while awaiting repatriation, and might be expected to have a useful perspective on American notions of how the war should be fought.
The game was conducted around the time the Marines landed on Guadalcanal, Despite rules that were generally favorable to the Japanese (such as reduced U.S. industrial productivity), by October 1, 1944, the “Americans” were landing in the Philippines, a matter that was extremely upsetting to the naval staff. This despite the fact that the game could easily have been used to help develop more realistic industrial production plans. The results of these games so shocked the Japanese High Command that no official notice of the game was circulated, all documentation destroyed, and the officers who had taken the part of the Amercians were scattered to various obscure posts and told, “Keep your mouth shut”.
The actual initial U.S. landings in the Philippines occurred approximately three weeks later than those in the wargame.
The relative timing may have something to do with FDR agreeing with Churchill to prioritize fighting Hitler. Fighting the Japanese was done on a shoestring budget. Americans fighting in Europe had top priority. Allies fighting in Europe had second priority (Lend Lease). Americans fighting the Japanese were a distant third. And often, the resources desperately needed to fight were held back in the rear.
That is a very common theme in many books about that war. Especially the air forces. One of the generals was just flabbergasted by the resources that were thrown at Okinawa in preparing the airbases for the air forces that were to be transported from Europe.
The pacific navy is a different story. Resources were needed in the Atlantic to fight U-boats and support invasions, but the Pacific needed them to fight aircraft carriers and battleships.
Also, it takes time to make carriers and battleships. There is a pearl harbor remembrance by Victor Hanson today that alludes to that.
Misremembering Pearl Harbor › American Greatness (amgreatness.com). Though the allusions are just a small part of his great take.
One thing I want to see is the schedule that existed to increase and modernize the fleet. Japan broke the naval treaty limiting naval forces and obtained local supremacy. We knew that and started to build up. That was public, so Japan knew how long it would take. They must have taken that into account, but I never see that discussed in the books I’ve read.
Yes, we sped that up and built even more, but naval ships aren’t like liberty ships that can be rapidly mass produced.
So those two things, lack of resources and long production schedules played a big part in the timing of the war in the pacific.
Some warships were mass produced. Escort Carriers and DEs are good examples. By the time the US invaded Okinawa it was producing more ship tonnage than all others in the world combined.
The Europe 1st strategy was the right one. Once Germany had taken most of Europe it has 3X the industrial production capacity of Japan. Taking Czechoslovakia alone doubled Germanys potential industrial capacity. Only the threat of the Japanese using Guadalcanal to threaten the logistical life line to Australia and the heavy fight for possession of the southern Solomons required the modification of that strategy to some extent. And that was the right choice also. Not to minimize the great victory at Midway but just to lend perspective. Even with the losses at Midway the IJN still had over a 2-1 advantage in carriers. It really was in the Solomons that the eventual outcome of the war was decided. From that point on Japan was purely on the strategic defensive.
Can’t continue the discussion as I have to get ready to head out. Heading to Michigan again. Grand Haven, take a break and then do a 3 stop milk run before I get home tomorrow night.
Thanks, I found this site about the escort carriers. Basically liberty ships modified to be carriers. No wonder why they could mass produce them. It says we built 122 escort carriers, 151 total carriers during WWII.

Another great read. Thanks
After his inauguration, FDR pushed through the National Industrial Recovery Act in 1933 to build up to the Washington Naval Treaty limits. This was followed in 1934 by the Vinson-Trammel Act which would break the limits over a period of 8 years.
in some sense the Treaty was good, in that it resulted in experimentation in Aircraft Carrier design and engineering. The variety in service at the start of the war would demonstrate what worked and what didn’t, paving the way for the Essex class based on lessons-learned.
An act in 1936 authorized the two North Carolina class battle wagons (commissioned in 1941). A year later four South Dakotas were funded, then finally the four Iowas which were completed in 43/44. A follow-on BB class was terminated during the war.
The “Two-Ocean Naval Act” of 1940 was the final pre-war naval building program.
7, 10,000 ton heavy cruisers were authorized in 29/30. An additional 7, 10,000 light (treaty 6-in gun) cruisers were laid down in 33-34.
Thanks
Great read. Thanks
VERY interesting read. As a former enlisted USN guy, I participated in war games.
But I was a mere pawn and had no inkling of an idea how important strategic planning and the actual war games were.
Thank you rah
I’ve been thinking about the commonly used expressions “Black” and “African American”. I think they’re both inadequate. There are many shades of black, and many dark skinned people don’t come from Africa.
I considered that it might be better to use “light skinned” or “dark skinned”, but that doesn’t work either. There would be too large a gray area (no pun intended). There are many swarthy toned light skins and many lighter shades of dark skins. It’s actually a continuum. How do you determine where on the “POC” scale one falls so you know how to treat them?
Then it dawned on me. Why do we need that distinction at all? Couldn’t we just refer to each other as people and be done with it? We will never get over the racial divides if our first filter regarding others is skin color.
What if we just judged people by content of their character as evidenced by their actions and behavior, and not by the color of their skin. Letting the chips fall as they may. Or is this just a dream?
To answer my own question, yes it’s just wishful thinking. TPTB need the racial and social distinctions as a wedge to keep us fighting amongst ourselves while they continue to rob us blind.
All three branches of government are populated with a bunch of self serving criminals (It’s criminal to not follow the law) who do what they want at the expense of America. The mouthpiece media pushes the relentless narratives at the expense of factual reporting and racial harmony. The whole bunch of them could not be more anti American.
Unfortunately, I believe they will make things even worse (if you can imagine that!) before things get better. I don’t expect that I or most others presently living will live long enough to see that.
I am thanking God for every day, now. My wife is, too. We are old but we know our Government is trying to kill all of the old people right now. We pray every day for God to help us. We cannot trust anyone except for God, anymore. This is about all we can do.
It’s everything you can do.
God bless you both!
If you’re alive you can pray.
Please don’t minimize how important that is in His Story.
Glad you’re a Treeper
If you haven’t read Jonah Goldberg’s book entitled “Liberal Fascism – The Secret History of the American Left From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning”, you should.
https://teamtuckercarlson.com/books/liberal-fascism-the-secret-history-of-the-american-left-from-mussolini-to-the-politics-of-change/
Here is Jonah Goldberg’s definition of Fascism:
Fascism is a religion of the state. It assumes the organic unity of the body politic and longs for a national leader attuned to the will of the people. It is totalitarian in that it views everything as political and holds that any action by the state is justified to achieve the common good. It takes responsibility for all aspects of life, including our health and wellbeing, and seeks to impose uniformity of thought and action, whether by force or through regulation and social pressure. Everything, including the economy and religion, must be aligned with its objectives. Any rival identity is part of the “problem” and therefore defined as the enemy. I will argue that contemporary American liberalism embodies all of these aspects of fascism.
As the “Coffee Row Senators” always said… “Govern Yourselves Accordingly.”
That officially designates me as a cog in their wheel. 🕶
Amen.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and his family as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
