Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Thinking of “today”, thinking of “now”:
2 Cor. 6:2 (cf. Isaiah 49:8)
“For He says: “In the acceptable time I listened to you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the time of favor; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Isaiah 55:6-7
“Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
Hebrews 3:15a (cf. Psalms 95:7-8)
“As it has been said: “If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts…”
Revelation 22:17 (cf. Isaiah 55:1)
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.”
—
Thinking of why:
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 5:24
“Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.”
—
Thinking of how:
Luke 18:13
“And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’”
James 4:8a
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
John 6:28-29
“Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.””
Mark 9:24b
“‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.'”
Acts 16:30-31
“Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.””
I have read your comments for quite awhile without responding.
You have posted some of the best spiritual substance I have read here, including some exacting exegetical-scriptural arguments in contrast to another poster.
I knew you were correct.
Thank you for your spiritual input on this thread!
It’s been good to see the focus on Scripture that many have been bringing, with the opportunity for believers to be edified and for those seeking to be pointed to what God freely offers, all with prayers for protection that are so needed.
Luke 17:10 — “Thus you also, when you may have done all the things having been commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have done that which we were bound to do.’””
1 Cor. 3:5-7 — “Who then is Apollos? And who is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord has given to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God kept it growing. So neither the one planting nor the one watering is anything, but only God, the One giving growth.”
Matthew 13:52 — “And He said to them, “Because of this, every scribe having been discipled into the kingdom of the heavens is like a man, a master of a house, who puts forth out of his treasure new and old.””
I remember some discussions you had with a poster who put 100% emphasis on Paul, that to me, kinda of denigrated Peter and the rest.
Everytime I would read that poster, referencing a couple of pastors, I would scroll down knowing you would present a balanced response/retort, but you did so in a kind way.
You could be a spiritual L-D debater.
I have been a student of the Scriptures since a small kid.
Later, I had all the great reference tools, including Moulton & Milligan’s Greek Vocabulary of the NT
But even later, I began to understand that the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ was and is the best and perfect interpreter of all Scripture whether we know the original languages or not.
It is quite a wonderful concept and spiritual joy.
I heartily agree.
?
Btw, I enjoyed your comments as well as Betsy Jones, just stevie, griever, others…in that spiritual discussion here on this open thread a couple or so days ago.
Somebody told me I needed to read that.
I did, and it inspired me to get involved in that kind of discussion, so I started an account here.
You all were basically having “church” that day.
Better than the church I grew up in.
And none of you promoted any church-denomination or religion, just some good, deep, honest spiritual camaraderie and wisdom.
So consider me a newbie here in your “congregation.”
Family!
God bless!

Serve Where He Set You
This seems appropriate for our world today.
“Always be kind. If you see someone falling behind, walk with them.
If someone is being ignored, find a way to include them.
If someone has been knocked down, lift them up.
Always remind people of their worth.
Be who you needed when you were going through hard times.
Just one small act of kindness could mean the world to someone.”
Kindness and consideration…two gifts without price.
You are always where you were meant to be. It is humbling, and even intimidating, that you never know the moment you were born for…
This is so true. And so interesting, for me, that you said that, Leenie.
My adult son, when he was a teen, said to me he wished he knew what his purpose on earth was.
I told him that no one knows the answer to that question for themselves or any other. I also told him that God’s purpose for him might be a small act at the right time for someone else…holding the door open with a smile and a friendly good morning for another who needs that friendliness at just that moment. A seemingly insignificant thing for him, but for all the world something that just might save the person for whom he showed a kindness.
And I also told him that he would most probably never know when his purpose would be fulfilled. One doesn’t know. But God does.
He took it to heart and has with all sincerity been one of the sweetest and most kind men I have known.
My dear Mum taught me, “You never know the moment your destiny and purpose have been fulfilled, but when it has been, you can go Home.”
Some have many destinies. Some are here to spread, joy, love and forgiveness wherever they go. Maybe, give birth to a sweet, kind man.
My birthday is March 4th. Mum told me it was the only day of the year with a directive.
What a treasure?. You have warmed my heart. I’m pretty certain she and I would have enjoyed a quiet cup of tea and a conversation together.
You call her “mum”. A distinctly British flavour. Anything there?
Nope…always called her MUM…and she would have done a scotch, not a cup of tea!
Ha! What a woman…and what a mum. ?
Some like to add a little single malt scotch to their cuppa tea. ?
You have no idea how close I was to putting that suggestion in! So close!
You actually made me chuckle out loud! ?
So I beat you to it.
But you can still say amen!
?
Amen Sir…AMEN! Pour away..
And that is definitely British and Spanish to spike their cuppa tea.
Heck of a lot better than the vax spike proteins!
Far more healthy!
Oh so true, Solomon…if you watch any British telly, as we do all the time in this house, the first remedy for anything untoward occurrence…be it sorrow, shock, disappointment, whatever….is a cup of tea.
We adored Foyle’s War. In one episode, a woman came home to her house and all her possessions blown to smithereens by the Germans. She was of course beside herself. The whole neighbourhood was nothing but rubble. The first thing the local Air Warden did was order his mates to get her a chair and a cup of tea.
From whence the chair came was a mystery, but it miraculously appeared intact, as did the cuppa.
She calmed down immediately, so I suspect someone shared a drop or two from his flask. Medicinal, don’t you know.?
That is just awesome.
For all the lip-professing “Christians” who want to condemn us…
♦️Psalm 104:15
♦️Judges 9:13 cheers both God and men
♦️Proverbs 31:6-7
Granted, Solomon got carried away experimenting with wine. That was his shortcoming, not God’s.
But in the past, like in the old West, whiskey was a life-saving grace for a lot of people.
Personally, because doctors and hospitals/clinics have made a lab rat out of me, I am allergic to almost every medicine under the sun, including OTC meds.
I have had to use whiskey at times to calm my heart issues down, to calm my hands shaking so bad (nerve CNS damage) that I can’t hold anything, even a glass of water.
One year I got hit with a sudden kidney infection so painful, I thought I was going to have another round of kidney stones.
I took 2 shots of 100 proof Hot Damn Cinnamon Schnapps. In 20 mins, the pain began to go away. Next day I was fine.
One year, I was struggling to breathe. Took a shot of that Hot Damn and a couple of swallows of Spark’s beer (it has b vitamins in it and caffeine) and minutes later I was breathing normal.
Strong liquor can help soft tissue and organ pain if you get on it right away. It doesn’t help bone and cartilage pain so much.
I have RA and serious, degenerative discs, but sometimes it has helped other lesser issues.
No Christian or religious soul is going to win that debate with me.
It is a mild pain helper.
God created the grape and grain.
But we have to be responsible and not reckless.
Sometimes it is a drop or two of God’s resources of grace and mercy! ?
I am truly truly sorry you are suffering from so much, Solomon. And to have no relief from the usual sources?
I have become an aficiando of supplements and have learned a lot about how they can help me stave off the ravages of time. I’ve also discovered that there are some which people of my age show a lack of.
So in that vein, I’ve discovered magnesium is a must. I take one a day religiously. For kidney and associated problems I take cranberry (tablets, not juice which is too acidic) 2 times a day.
But the big discovery for me was turmeric curcumin for joints. The ones we buy have added ginger to alleviate any tummy upset, though we’ve never experienced any.
And I will tell you I KNOW it works because I couldn’t get any for a week. The difference I felt in the morning was significant. Achy and stiff. All that went away when I was able to replenish our supply. We take 2 at night.
May I suggest you look at information regarding these in particular? Since they are not drugs, I’m hoping that perhaps they might go some way to alleviating your discomforts. Also, though I have not tried it…yet…I have heard good testimonials regarding pain relief from CBD oils and ingestibles. I don’t know where you are so don’t know if this is available in your area. Nevertheless, I am passing this on for whatever it may be worth.
In the meantime, I’ll put in a special mention for you to our Great Healer. I do anyway ask for relief for those in pain and distress, but you shall be mentioned by name. I’m so glad you have at least a modicum of relief from nature’s best. Generations before us knew about cures derived from natural occurring plants, etc. How did that ever get pushed off the page? As is said, whatever works. And as you state, Gods grace and mercy work. I’ve seen it too often to doubt it.?
Oh, believe me. I take the ginger and tumeric capsules (good for heart and joints) as well as hyaluronic acid, fish oil, b and d vitamins, acetyl l- carnitine along with co-q10, ginko biloba, tmg, and the big one for the heart, hawthorn extract that pulled me out of a major attack some years ago without normal medical help. Hawthorn extract is the greatest heart strengther on planet Earth.
I have been on top of all this and have been for 30 years.
I do know about the CBD oils.
It’s why I can communicate with you today. God was good to lead me to His knowledge about all this.
At going on 69, my heart is much better. That first week was a nightmare out of hell and blew my CNS to nuclear. I was begging to take my life after many days of no sleep, not even a minute.
I do have serious RA which is my first VA disability, but I am better than I was years ago.
I am allergic to all opiates. Kind of glad for that considering the hell I went through in the 70s. I’ll spare you of those details.
Nobody thought I could have lived through that, what the doctors thought was worse than the worst heroine withdrawal they ever had to deal with. I still remember ever detail of those hallucinations. 72 hours in hell.
But, God had a purpose and He knew I wasn’t rebelling, but trusted doctors and medicine.
Never again.
If you didn’t know, Jordan Peterson underwent the same hell withdrawal from a medicine whose name escapes me. His daughter was with him the whole time. It was not possible to read his and her account of his personal purgatory without feeling it one’s self.
Pharmakeia has ruined so many. And today it is at the centre of all our miseries.
What you have written is chilling. But I remember this…
God’s grace is not the light in the tunnel. It’s the light that guides us through it. Your presence here is testament to that. There is no question about it.
When I say bless your heart, that is not a Southern throwaway line. I mean it in the holy sense. May He continue to be with you now as he has been throughout your word days. From my heart..
Yes. I am very familiar with his story.
It’s a painful row to hoe.
In a way, I am glad to be allergic because I have to depend on God rather than loading up on Dilaudids.
I have an immense pain tolerance.
Sometimes I have had to scream, but God always gets me through it and then I am better.
It helps that I eat very well and organic and hydrate with a specially treated water and organic fruit juices.
Bless your heart too!
I loved “Are You Being Served”, “Keeping Up Appearances”, and “Last of the Summer Wine.”
But on a more serious note, I loved/hated watching “MI5”. Mungrel would prolly know why. It was a program that reflected real life for me.
MI6 was the UK’s CIA. I have all the episodes…sometimes some of those episodes hit a bit too close to home.
I was one who exposed a lot of stuff about that years ago. Best friends thought they were going to take me out.
But I knew what to do so that I am still here sending this message to you.
So now you know why I pray for him after I read your comment to him to keep off the radar.
???ing!
Would love to email with you if we could find a safe way to exchange addresses.
I have lived in Wales for 2 decades, from 1986-2006, as an aside. We have seen MI5 . The whole thing twice…well almost twice. We found the second go round we were feeling extremely uneasy. So moved on to Vera (excellent) and the SUPERB Shetland. I can recommend them both, and of course Foyle, which is so well acted and calming, even though it is about WWII (as a backdrop only). When we want to breathe easier, its a good one. I think we are up to 4 times watched now. Its that good, for Michael Kitchens acting alone (or in his case, exquisite non acting).
I wish there were a safe way as well. Perhaps God will make way where there seems to be none. It’s His specialty you know.?
I’ll answer your above reply now. You got my heart racing talking about British telly.
I’m glad also that you have added Mungrel to your prayers. You are brothers in many ways. I’ve referred to his guardian angel, who knows him well, I truly believe. I have no doubt yours has been by your side also. Deo Gratias, Solomon.
And yes. Your road has taken you here, through the snares, the worries, the anxious moments you indicate were at one point a part of your life, a life you thankfully still have. I said earlier that something compelled me to start commenting. A new thread in my tapestry which has been a gift. I hope your new thread will be for you as well. So our threads have now crossed and I’m ever so glad they have. I’m looking forward to more conversations, because these have been glorious. You take care, and check on the information I gave you. It won’t hurt to read about them, and, God willing if you decide to use them, they might help.
You have no idea what your message has meant to me today.
I had a long message for you that I was about to send you, but got a heavenly red flag and cancelled for another time.
M would understand why I chose not to post it now. I do have it saved.
I could not compromise any of us.
I am about to go to Afghanistan, China and Iran to help friends in need. My friends at AT know this and are concerned. I love them for it.
That must be first with me now.
Betsy, you gotta know, that from what you said, I understand M and where he is. Your words to him to keep off the radar are correct.
Indeed, he is my brother in this great war.
I can’t tell how hard it was for me not to send what I wrote earlier to you.
But I try to follow God’s wisdom above all.
I hope you and family have a best Thanksgiving ever in the face of all elements against us and our Nation.
SS
And please tell M, I wish the same blessing for him.
I most assuredly will! He will appreciate it, believe me.
The time will come when it it is right, Solomon, yours and God’s.
And for you and all whom you love. Thanksgiving, where we’ll shut out the world and be grateful for all His blessings…and mercies, without which I’d be lost. God be with you?
Please please take care on your journey? If there is anyway at all to check in with us from time to time to let us know that you are all right please do so. Just a “Good morning all!” will suffice. Is your trip open ended? Lucky your friends with you in their lives. My prayers now include you for His grace that He be with you while you are away and for your safe return, Solomon. What you have written has set my emotions alight. I will be joining you in spirit, no passport needed.
You know I will! No way I’m going to let new precious friends here go.
I am so glad a friend told me to read the open thread the other day or I wouldn’t be on here.
This site is a great tree. I’ll try to get others on here to join us.
The best… You’ll be a good recruiter. We need to bolster the troops.
?⚘
Good and loving advice!
?⚘?
Are you, or were you in the armed services?
Were and para. Can’t say much more. But thank you for asking.
I had to stop drinking Vodka Martinis: As my sweet and tolerant husband said: Martini=Leenie meanie!
O! Thats too funny.
Vodka is not as high alcohol as some whiskeys, but vodka has a way of biting back harder later.
And don’t even think about drinking Bombay gin as delicious as it is. 94 proof. And gin will dry and wrinkle your skin more than any other liquor.
I’ve had very little of it.
Alcohol can be pleasant and soothing in moderation.
I personally get no euphoria or feel good in the head from it. But that’s a good thing as I need to have clarity of mind all the time.
I use it from time to time strictly for medicinal purposes. I was actually prescribed it by a Colonel doctor in the Army. I wasn’t Army but I personally knew him.
Been there with Bombay gin….Nope!!!!!!
So you know! ?
If you have a sweet and tolerant husband, that’s one more Thanksgiving blessing! ?

Thank you!!!! Beautifully written truth. Your heart shines through this article.
You’ve reminded me of something I read I know you’d appreciate.
“My scars are proof that God heals.”
Inside and out. ?
Your statement is true.
Anybody without scars has not been in the firefight!
Even Jesus had nail-scarred hands, feet, side, head and his back.
But the hardest are the scars of the heart, mind and spirit.
Nice to meet another tea drinker, Betsy jones !
That’s what we had in our house growing up, tea. Coffee was reserved for when we had guests, as it was something they liked better than we did.
My Dad had a little tea-drinking song that he taught us kids when we wanted to drink tea like he did (he started us on mostly milk with a few teaspoons of the precious tea) …
“Sip it slowly and you’ll see, that you have a lot more tea!” 🙂
At one point, I had tea in every room of the house, including the hallway. Tea bags (of course), tea soap, tea perfume, tea hand and body lotion… and for years now, every Christmas I make my sister get me Yorkshire Gold as a gift.
So basically, “Hail and well met, tea fren!” 🙂
Oh how sweet is that!!! And to you phoenix?. I came to appreciate it when I moved to Britain. We start the day with it and end with a cuppa. I’ve never liked iced tea, which makes me a renegade Southerner probably. But it is calming…and civilized, don’t you agree? Heaven knows we could all use more of that!
Well, you like mint juleps, right?
As for Southern-style tea, have you ever had chocolate mint iced tea? Now that’s something special! Especially when served in a barn in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee!
Sweet tea can be a bit too much, unsweet is not enough, and in any case it needs a bit of lemon or lime or something.
And speaking of more, there are also tea candles … very soothing indeed … not tea lights, tea scented … Civilization was made for tea, wouldn’t you agree?
So cool that you get to enjoy this steaming cup of goodness the “proper” way in the UK!
I have tried…the good Lord knows I’ve tried. But there is just something about about a cup of hot tea. For the stressed and distressed, in Britain it has to be sweet, for some reason which I never understood. Ah well, ours I not to reason why…
And absolutely!!! Civilization was made for it. A small pleasure. They are the best.No am actually back here in Texas now, but I brought back some lovely ceremonies and British habits which are very sustaining while we slog our way through the mess we’re in. Gotta keep sane and grounded.
…and the Kentucky Derby!!!
Our purpose will be revealed to us when we are in the place at the time God designed. Often times we don’t realize this until we are already in the midst of fulfilling our purpose, or afterwards, when we look back and see what good we accomplished.
Looking backward is clarifying for me to understand why certain parts of my life were difficult and in some cases hard to endure. But in fact were just dips in the road to where I am today. Where I am needed in a way that causes me to give bountiful thanks to God for the journey. And to give bountiful thanks that I can see it. A true blessing.
You make a good point.
There have been times when God projected His will and calling to some in their early life, e.g. Jeremiah.
But mostly, many don’t know ahead of time, so have to kind of meander, (not stumble) into God’s purpose.
And yes, sometimes have to look in Heaven’s rear view mirror to see His Hand in and on their lives.
What an awakening!
As I replied to Betsy Jones, I started this account a few days ago after reading an amazing spiritual discussion here on the open thread.
Long time reader, but that discussion made me start an account.
I really like Garrison Hall too!
Glad you’re part of the Treehouse, Solomon. Lots of good information is here from a very diverse group of Treepers from different regions and with different skills and knowledge to share.
Garrison is quite a treasure to the Treehouse; his musical background and knowledge has introduced many of us to artists and music that many hadn’t heard before.
Thank you for your kind welcome.
This seems to be a good resting place. I love trees and have seen the best of them.
I do like American Thinker as well and we stay close in touch.
They published me about a month or so ago.
If I can find that article, I will try and link it here in the CTH.
All of us have to stay close and supportive of each other.
We are one in heart, mind, soul and spirit.
Unity is not always good as in BLM, Antifa, China…
But on the righteous and godly side of things, it’s great and very powerful, and can overcome a lot of heavy-duty opposition.
Seems to me that this CTH is in that fight and war against a lot of our day’s evil devices.
God bless.
Scroll down a bit and see my second reply to Garrison.
2 videos
1 is one of the most guitar compositions ever.
The other is about Martin’s commemorate guitars, a D100 Deluxe ($100,000 +) and a D45, even more. The D100 is one of the most exquisite and beautiful guitars ever crafted. They were made to commemorate Martin’s 1 millionth guitar produced
Well heck, I’ll make it easier and just include the link.
Hope this works.
Couple of items for you.
I know you’ve probably heard this, pretty famous.
Also, this Martin D100 Deluxe guitar commemorating Martin’s 1Mth guitar. Absolutely gorgeous and over $100,000.
Martin D-100 Deluxe and OM-45 Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Demo by Sweetwater – YouTube
I’ve read some of your other comments aside from the music venue. You’ve posted some good common sense about issues.
In my words to you below, I forgot to put quotes around my reply to Garrison.
It starts at…
“Couple of items…”
I checked the two links. They work.
Yikes!! Solomon… shhhh!
Sometimes we can’t.
Btw, your reply to Garrison’s “aw shucks”, made me laugh in good humor.
He was just being humble.
Garrison is pretty cool.
I have enjoyed the exchange between you and Betsy!
I also was a long time visitor only. Then one day I felt compelled to start commenting. Divinely inspired? Perhaps. But I know that in doing so I’ve made many new friends. As I have said, their faces I know not. But as I also said to Mungrel last night, I’ve learned their hearts, his included, which is better.
The most wonderful decision I’ve made in a long time.
Well, I am glad you did because you were one of the voices in that discussion the other day that inspired me to start an account here.
Mungrel sounds like somebody who I understand…been there, done that, so I pray for the Lord to guard and protect him. I know the field and layout. But he contributes well here, just have to be wise.
God bless!
He will appreciate that very much. He’s been on the battlefield a long time, with stories to tell. A lone warrior in many ways but with, I’m convinced, an active Guardian Angel. A good man.
Believe me when I say, he’s not alone.
I’ve had my angels who preserved my life in impossible situations and locations.
It is why he will have my heart of prayer!
He sounds like somebody I like to meet one day.
Sit over a cuppa spiked tea and exchange stories.
?…He wouldn’t say no.
I would not expect him to say no.
I’m already thinking he is a faithful brother in that field.
❤ back to you!
There is no question of it. Getting to know you both I’m seeing similarities that are incredible. You are both cut from the same cloth.
Betsy, shhhh
Meant in the most loving vein! Turning into the Betsy and Solomon show…
Not really.
We have common ground of spiritual thought.
This kind of thing happens all the time online and offline.
It is not our show, but simply a camaraderie between new friends who share common values.
Take a breath and don’t judge us according to your own thought and opinion.
Betsy was 1 of 7 voices here who inspired me to get a CTH account here in a great spiritual discussion.
Will you fault Garrison and GB Bari for our exchanges?
Follow up…
Maybe you need to shhh!!!
We were just in the zone of camaraderie. It happens.
And you are trying to censor us.
Get a grip and be quiet if you don’t like our exchange.
I wonder what you would have said about other long-running conversations between Treepers in years past.
This is what the left tries to do to in good conversations between conservatives.
You need to step back and take a breath.
This is no show between Betsy Jones and myself. It’s just a conversation of things we have in common and enjoy talking about.
Join it it instead of criticizing it.
Solomon, The Wise…. “Shhh” was a suggestion, not a command. Shhh, a whisper. I did not say “SHUT UP!” If you have been on this web site as long as you claim, you would already know that I am not a “leftist” trying to “shut down” good conversations between conservatives.” Merely suggesting that there is a venue here to communicate with people that doesn’t consume band width. I am not trying to censor you, nor on this web site, is it appropriate to tell someone to “be quiet.” This is not your personal email account. I am so happy you came across Betsy, as I did…
? Sometimes,you’re insightful, sometimes you’re a jerk…like me!!!!!
For some reason, your last 2 messages just appeared on my account here a few mins ago…it is 11:18pm 23rd of Nov.
So here’s the deal.
When I was a kid, yeah of course, I could be as much of jerk as any kid.
But I am not any kind of jerk presently. That was an unjustified insult.
General Michael Flynn, who emailed me some of the most encouraging words of late would take you to task over saying I can be a jerk sometimes.
The people in Sidney Powell’s office would say the same.
He would tell you to seriously reconsider your words. So would have the late Sir Nicholas Harnoncourt. And especially my late great friend, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
I never thought you were a leftist, but telling me to shhhh is what they do.
It was not the Betsy/Solomon show.
Every once and awhile 2 or more people connect in a harmony of common camaraderie in a good zone.
I never claimed to be on this website a long time. Reading it, yes.
And our exchanges don’t consume the bandwidth of this website, otherwise Sundance’s long and detailed articles would have done so.
Please get up to speed.
?
Please read my response to Leenie61 who told both of us to shhhhh because she thought our conversation was turning into the Betsy and Solomon show.
You know, sometimes people connect on a good level of camaraderie and enjoy the conversation.
I responded to her and hope she will be humble herself enough to recognize the error of her judgment.
Nope.
CRAP! Now it’s the Solomon and Leenie “Show.” My most heartfelt apologies to my fellow Treepers….!!!!
YES!!!
GB, As we get to a certain age, and have the gift of perspective, to see how our paths, sometimes inscrutable at the time, paint a picture of purpose and direction that, at the time, we could not fathom…
One small act of kindness, love and comfort can change a person’s life.
If one has done nothing else in life than that, one has found God’s purpose.
You have a large heart of compassion in a hardened society.
Blessings to you, Solomon. ??
Thank you. Betsy.
I started this account because somebody suggested I read the open thread a few days ago.
I was pleasantly astonished at the in-depth spiritual discussion between you, griever, Frank Field, just-stevie…O my, I know I am leaving somebody out.
As a long time reader, I have appreciated T.Monroe’s great posts of exegetical brilliance.
I read all the posts the other day and thought, O God, these people are having online church and I want to go to their service.
I like that nobody is promoting and church, religion or denomination.
Just God, Jesus Christ and spiritual Scriptural wisdom.
Seems to me that God is using the open thread to get people together.
So I am joining in!
??
Oh so glad! Nowhere in any teaching does it say God’s Word can be heard only in a physical building.
I hear Him better in other places…in nature, in solitude, and in gathering here. I feel at home on this site. I’m so grateful for it.
Exactly right!
Where 2 or 3 are gathered together…
Are we not gathered here as well?
I think so.
Oh yes! We are indeed. I believe our numbers may be higher than that…and growing. ?
What I really like about this open thread is the combination of the spiritual, music (Garrison), some humor and funny memes and pictures.
It is a relaxing thread.
Talking about nature…
There is a place in SE OK called Talimena Drive between the Talihina area to Mena, AR.
Years/decades ago I used drive up to it every day, walk around that loop and pray and commune with the Lord.
I actually spent nights up there.
I have watched eagles fly in the clouds below my elevation. What a glorious sight of God’s Creation.
Have seen those huge owls and grey wolves up there.
I learned a lot about God, His Wondrous Creation and His will for my own life there.
The beauty up there gave me the strength to face the horror below that would eventually come and destroy our lives as we knew and lived it.
Nature at its best, is the Breath of God to refresh us from time to time, especially when we are in “Joseph’s dungeon” and in Nebuchadnezzar’s fiery furnace…when we think it’s the end…but it isn’t.
I am going to go look for some pics to include in this comment…….

It’s hard not to weep over missing this.
Oh how glorious!! I was surrounded by scenery such as this in Wales every single day. I miss it dreadfully.
What I posted elsewhere…share wherever as the Lord leads.
Who do we put our faith and trust in?
Ask yourself this question.
Who did many of our Nation’s founders put their trust in?
Possibly, we as a committed body of truth and liberty are doing the same thing.
If not, CTH and American Thinker, the GWP, Americanprophet. Org…
Would not exist today.
The negative numerator is powerful, but there is an underlining denominator that is far more powerful.
We may have to go through Nebuchadnezzar’s fiery furnace heated 7 times hotter.
They were willing and God stepped in with them and preserved them.
We today, standing up for truth, our families and Nation…and God above all!
Why would God not bless us the same if we are willing to do the same?!
Think about that.
Dan, these were wise words by Spurgeon, just some of many. Oswald Chambers, T. Austin Sparks, C.S. Lewis, even Rudyard Kipling…so much wisdom God gave us to help us along in our modern day’s spiritual journey.
I am new here as a commenter but have read many of your posts.
Thank you for your contribution!
David, a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22) thanks to God’s work (Psalm 51:10), certainly held the law in high esteem (Psalm 1:1-2). He had been anointed as king and was even involved by God in an everlasting covenant (2 Samuel 7). David looked to all of Scripture, even contributing to its writing under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Many of the psalms attributed to him spoke of the goodness of God’s law and of keeping God’s commandments. Something happened, though, despite the state of his heart and the intimacy he had with God, His Spirit, and the law.
After the aforementioned everlasting covenant, David was involved with the willful sins concerning Bathsheba and also Uriah. It’s highly unlikely that it was a matter of insufficient knowledge of the law, especially of the spirit of the law and of God’s will, as he was a man after God’s own heart. As in Deuteronomy 30:11-14, the word was very near him, and the commandments not hidden from him, yet willful sin in the form of adultery and murder still emerged in such a man rather than perfection. Some have insisted, citing the separate sacrificial protocol connected with non-willful sin in Old Testament law as well as what they glean from Hebrews 6, that willful sin is not forgivable and that willful sin would cause the Holy Spirit to depart from a believer; if so, where would that have left David?
Were the issue all about man’s regard for the law and the fruits of his striving, we would all be lost, as David would have been. Rather, repentance is not all about the striving of man, but on the abounding and overflowing of the grace of God as He regards our sinful and hapless state. The answer is found not in man’s successful keeping of the law after having fallen short of it, but through Christ and His grace. David’s willful sins involving Uriah and Bathsheba were followed by God’s mercy, even though David didn’t meet the condition of law keeping. David’s sincere repentance was accepted by God not by quid pro quo or an obligation that David’s actions demanded, but “according to the multitude of His mercies” (Lamentations 3:22).
As we know concerning David’s willful sin well after his deliverance from Saul, David did not receive God’s mercy after that according to David’s righteousness, the cleanness of his hands, by keeping the ways of the LORD and not wickedly departing from Him or turning aside from His statutes, by being blameless before Him, or keeping himself from guilt (cf. 2 Samuel 22:21-25) David received mercy from God according to the multitude of God’s mercy.
According to 2 Samuel 12:13 “David said to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the LORD.’ And Nathan said to David, “The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die.” Again, David was a man after God’s own heart, and God is the One who put that heart in him. Genuine repentance acceptable to God is evidence of God’s work in a person’s life. Psalm 51, written by David “when the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba” (Psalm 51:1), gives evidence of someone with a repentant heart who acknowledged his sin and sought restoration and renewal in his soul and in his relationship with God.
David demonstrated his willingness to rely solely on the only One who truly overcame sin. Romans 5 continues the emphasis not on man’s record but on the record of the One who demonstrated singular obedience to the law to the perfect standard of God. “For as by the disobedience of the one man, the many were made sinners, so by the obedience of the One, the many will be made righteous.” (Romans 5:19). Again, the emphasis leads away from what a man should be or should not be able to achieve given how God describes his law in Deuteronomy 30. Instead, it leads to the actual perfection that Christ achieved, which is good since it is the righteousness of Christ alone in which His people are to be clothed, and is all that can justify us in God’s sight. Jesus did charge penitents to sin no more; thank God it is on His righteousness and the abundance of His mercy we rely rather than our track record when we fall short!
If such men — deemed as righteous and after God’s own heart — did in fact encounter difficulty (in some cases, in a willful manner) even after true intimacy and favor with God, we ought to be comforted that our standing before God depends on the work and grace of the only One who achieved God’s perfect standard of righteousness.
Read Psalm 23 – the LORD is David’s shepherd! (This is the same shepherd who gives His sheep eternal life, “and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:27–29). We read of the LORD’s leading him, protecting him with His rod and staff, and we read that the LORD restores his soul (just as Peter, the disciples, and others needing restoration have received it). We read that the LORD Himself has anointed David and abundantly blessed him. We read that the psalmist will be followed by God’s goodness and mercy not merely for a season, but for all the days of his life, as God is with him when he walks in the valley of the shadow of death, which calms his fear. And we read that David, someone who is in Scripture as having committed willful sin after been chosen by God to be His anointed servant and thus be in close relationship, will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Absolutely correct.
I had a longer reply, but digital stuff wiped it out and I can’t recover it.
I’m just grateful that God gave us so many examples in Scripture of where He is ready to show mercy when man comes up short. Examples like the mercy shown to Peter and David are very encouraging as well as instructors of how humble we need to be no matter where we are in our walk.
Romans 15:4 — “For whatever was written in the past was all written for our instruction, so that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.”
Romans 12:3 — “For through the grace having been given to me, I say to everyone being among you, not to be high-minded above what it behooves you to think, but to think so as to be sober-minded, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.”
Manasseh is another outstanding example of the mercy of God!
The Psalms teach a lot about the mercies of the Lord in the Old Testament.
The offering of Jesus Christ was God’s ultimate expression of Mercy.
But God was demonstrating His mercy even in the Old Testament which foreshadowed His great mercy to be unfolded in the New Testament.
I have to repeat, sorry.
I have so appreciated the spiritual wisdom of the Scriptures you have posted here.
I wasn’t in the place to answer that particular poster you responded to, but once I read your first reply to that poster, I knew I could trust God to use you to properly reply to error.
Your first couple of responses to that poster made me know you were properly taught in the Scriptures and that the Lord had His Hand on you in that exchange.
Sometimes Christians get too caught up in this and that pastor, religion or box church.
Even the Bereans checked out Paul’s words.
We are to test the spirits.
If we don’t, we get led astray by false religions and sermons, but even in the normal Gospel church.
I thank you again for being a faithful servant of God, Jesus Christ and the Scripture.
What Willie gives us is ultimate truth. Yes it can be hard edged, even brutal in its exquisite sadness . . .but he never fails to to incorporate ultimate truth in his songs. In this, I think he perfectly captures the the intrinsic spirit of country music. You can sit in countless barrooms and, if you’re a bit observant, it’s easy to see the lonely men and women drinking their sadness over a broken romance away. Unfortunately, the drink doesn’t help much and the hurt never really goes away. It’s just something you have to get used to feeling.
“Always on My Mind” always brings up an oddly funny memory to me. You see, my bus driver was dating the Spanish teacher when this song came out. One day when he was at her house, this song came on the radio, and the bus driver remarked that “Always on My Mind” always reminded him of something.
Thinking that the bus driver was being sweet and romantic, the Spanish teacher asked, “Oh, does the song remind you of me?”
The bus driver, who was kind of fat and pudgy around the middle, replied, “No, my refrigerator … ”
The Spanish teacher was kinda cool actually. The bus driver was quite a character.
🙂
My favorite (although Lefty and Pancho with Merle is up there too)

Gosh, Ole Willie had so many great songs, like; Ac-cent-uate the Positive, Buttermilk Skies, Seven Spanish Angels. It is really hard to pick a favorite. Thank you, as always, for sharing.

Hello Walls and Crazy my favs.
I have listened to your selections for years, so I know you will know this from Kenny Rogers.
Lot of life’s truth in this song, one of my favs of all times, The Gambler.
I take it you know a couple things about guitars.
I learned on my dads Martin Classical guitar.
Have you ever noticed how life’s truths get repeated ad nauseum until they become trite clichés and no one ever hears them again?
Happens everywhere and all the time, but songs that get played as much as that one did can even start to drive people away.
Had a dorm neighbor play stairway to heaven, loudly, again and again and again and again, day after day after day after day. Took me decades before I could tolerate it again. And I really liked that song before that experience.
Oh gosh yes!
I did the Stairway to Heaven thing in the military. It was the thing to do back. Horse With No Name, etc.
But I didn’t do it loudly in other peoples’ faces.
It’s not just music, but a lot of “religious stuff” too, that people try to jam down our ears and hearts.
I really appreciate your comment.
I hope I am never going to be overbearing on somebody else.
Seems to me that you understand that! ?
Garrison is “all things guitar!!!” (But not limited to that!!!)
Awww. shucks . . . 🙂
Stop it, Garrison!!! ?
🙂
I learned on a Gibson C1 ($60 back in the day). One night I accidently stepped on it. Guy Clark fixed it for me. He knew I didn’t have much money so he only charged me $5.
Couple of items for you.
I know you’ve probably heard this, pretty famous.
Also, this Martin D100 Deluxe guitar commemorating Martin’s 1Mth guitar. Absolutely gorgeous and over $100,000.

I’ve read some of your other comments aside from the music venue. You’ve posted some good common sense about issues.

“Mr. Perfect” and unctuous Twitter lecturer Lebron James Judo chops the Piston’s Rookie Stewart and pretends he’s innocent.
James should be suspended for several games.
King LeBron should be suspended for the rest of the season.
Mr James is a very tall pile of human excrement.IMHO.

And that is just one more example of why I have not been at all interested in NBA since the 1970s. The over inflated egos and urban street style conflict that was brought into the game permanently destroyed its appeal to me.
Here’s a little ditty that hits home here in Appalachia country. Several artists have done this, but I’m attracted to this one.

I enjoyed his version of the song and his pre song comments about his grandma and family roots.
JESUS SINNERS DOTH RECEIVE
Jesus sinners doth receive; oh, may all this saying ponder
Who in sin’s delusions live and from God and heaven wander!
Here is hope for all who grieve: Jesus sinners doth receive.
We deserve but grief and shame, yet His words rich grace revealing,
Pardon, peace, and life proclaim; here our ills have perfect healing.
Firmly in these words believe: Jesus sinners doth receive.
Sheep that from the fold did stray no true shepherd e’er forsaketh;
Weary souls that lost their way Christ, the Shepherd, gently taketh
In His arms that they may live: Jesus sinners doth receive.
I a sinner come to Thee with a penitent confession.
Savior mercy show to me; grant for all my sins remission.
Let these words my soul relieve: Jesus sinners doth receive.
Oh how blest it is to know were as scarlet my transgression.
It shall be as white as snow by Thy blood and bitter passion;
For these words I now believe: Jesus sinners doth receive.
Now my conscience is at peace; from the law I stand acquitted.
Christ hath purchased my release and my every sin remitted.
Naught remains my soul to grieve: Jesus sinners doth receive.
Jesus sinners doth receive; also I have been forgiven;
And when I this earth must leave; I shall find an open heaven.
Dying still to Him I cleave: Jesus sinners doth receive.
And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.
And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

Good day everyone,

Please notice their footwork. They trigger notes with their feet while playing their primary instruments.
They played every single note themselves and this is an excellent example of it.
SHALLOW AND PROFOUND
“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Cor. x. 31
Beware of allowing yourself to think that the shallow concerns of life are not ordained of God; they are as much of God as the profound. It is not your devotion to God that makes you refuse to be shallow, but your wish to impress other people with the fact that you are not shallow, which is a sure sign that you are a spiritual prig. Be careful of the production of contempt in yourself, it always comes along this line, and causes you to go about as a walking rebuke to other people because they are more shallow than you are. Beware of posing as a profound person; God became a Baby.
To be shallow is not a sign of being wicked, nor is shallowness a sign that there are no deeps: the ocean has a shore. The shallow amenities of life, eating and drinking, walking and talking, are all ordained by God. These are the things in which Our Lord lived. He lived in them as the Son of God, and He said that “the disciple is not above his Master.”
Our safeguard is in the shallow things. We have to live the surface common-sense life in a common-sense way; when the deeper things come, God give them to us apart from the shallow concerns. Never show the deeps to anyone but God. We are so abominably serious, so desperately interested in our own characters, that we refuse to behave like Christians in the shallow concerns of life.
Determinedly take no one seriously but God, and the first person you find you have to leave severely alone as being the greatest fraud you have ever known, is yourself.
Oswald Chambers
November 22nd Devotional
I remember a devotion of his wherein he talked about the trial of drudgery.
I think that relates to what he is saying in this devotion.
In drudgery, it seems you’re not accomplishing anything great or of substance.
I’m going to assume he went through both to be able to write these kinds of things.
Appreciate your postings, so much. All the world’s a stage and we are the players. It’s always an act. That’s the performance of life.
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.

I love seeing this comment from you everyday.

BE MY VOICE
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, amen.
Awesome prayer.

Great review of this years severe weather. BTW this year no Tropical cyclones formed anywhere during the month of October. The last time that occurred was 1977!

Oh, one other little nice to know fact. There have been no EF 5 tornadoes recorded in the US since 2013.
We indeed have much to be thankful for.
Correct me if I have my stats wrong, but I believe there were 3 EF5s in the Oklakoma City area, 1 each for 3 days.
Then there was the 1999 Moore tornado that set the wind speed record on earth…300+mph!
Meant to say in 2013.
Dear Sol, Finding the Treehouse for the first time is exhilarating!! Commenting and engaging with the Treepers is great. Sit back, relax, learn from the long time posters. It takes a little bit of time but well worth the effort!! Can’t name them all, but the accumulated wisdom is WELL WORTH IT!!! As the song goes: “Listen more, talk less…”. Happy you are here!
Mornin’ infidels.
Oh how I wish that the obscene “infrastructure” bill was truly the last despotic act of this illegal and lawless Administration.
Well, Sundance, I have looked at your new Unknown Soldier picture almost every day since you put it on the page. Wondered why you used a blurry photo. This morning I looked longer, made it bigger, and laughed out loud. I’ve never seen snow falling except when we had a little in 1957. Our Yankee teacher took us outside and let the snow fall on black paper so we could see it. We had some in the back of the truck one morning, 1975 or 1976.
Thought you might get a smile out of this.
Thanks to you and your crew for all that you do.
GSG, Please let us in!!!!!!!!!
Come on down; the weather’s fine. : )
GSG, Why did you laugh? I so missed it….
I thought SD had used a blurry photo. I didn’t know it was snowing in the picture until I studied it this morning.
You made me laugh!!!!!!!!
I was living in Lakeland, FL in 1957 and was in the 6th grade. It snowed and the whole school went out to see it. Of course it melted about 3 feet above the ground, but we could at least see it fall. I had seen it before, but most of the kids had never seen snow at all.

Prayers up for Mike Lindell, all his people – and for The Almighty to send righteousness before them everywhere they go forth this week.
If you have been paying attention, you know what is up. November 23rd is upon us.
Thought I’d post my comment here rather than the other Waukesha threads.
I don’t want to think about the murderer or the police or the media right now. I cannot get past the grief I feel for the families of those who were killed and injured. See, when I was 9 years old, my 6 year old brother was hit and killed by a car as we crossed the street.
Grief blanketed my family from then on, thinking back to my mother’s anger and pain and father’s inability to express his grief and possibly feelings of guilt, being the provider/protector.
It happened this time of year and a long time ago, but it’s not about me. I just know what the families may be going through. Me, I’m ok…life goes on and I know I will someday see my brother again.
So, my point of this is, if you can, please channel your thoughts and even prayers in the direction of those who remain. The churning and movement of the other ‘things’ involved will receive their energy as they always do. Please pray for the families, for those who remain. May they find strength in God.
Amen
