Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Thinking of “today”, thinking of “now”:
2 Cor. 6:2 (cf. Isaiah 49:8)
“For He says: “In the acceptable time I listened to you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the time of favor; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Isaiah 55:6-7
“Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
Hebrews 3:15a (cf. Psalms 95:7-8)
“As it has been said: “If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts…”
Revelation 22:17 (cf. Isaiah 55:1)
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.”
—
Thinking of why:
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 5:24
“Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.”
—
Thinking of how:
Luke 18:13
“And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’”
James 4:8a
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
John 6:28-29
“Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.””
Mark 9:24b
“‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.'”
Acts 16:30-31
“Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.””
Holy God, we praise Thy name; Lord of all we bow before Thee;
All on earth Thy scepter claim; All in heaven above adore Thee;
Infinite Thy vast domain, everlasting is Thy reign.
Hark! The glad celestial hymn angel choirs above are raising;
Cherubim and seraphim, in unceasing chorus praising,
Fill the heavens with sweet accord: Holy, holy, holy Lord!
Lo, the apostles holy train join Thy sacred name to hallow:
Prophets swell the glad refrain, and the white-robed martyrs follow,
And from morn to set of sun through the Church the song goes on.
Thou art King of Glory, Christ; Son of God, yet born of Mary.
For us sinners sacrificed, as to death at tributary,
First to break the bars of death, Thou hast opened heaven to faith.
Holy Father, Holy Son, Holy Spirit, three we name Thee;
Though in essence only one, undivided God we claim Thee
And, adoring bend the knee, while we own the mystery.
?
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.
Amen ?
The Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner.
Prayer of Saint Ioannikios the Great of Bithynia (+ 846)
My hope is the Father, my refuge the Son, my protection the Holy Spirit. O Holy Trinity, glory to Thee.

25 October 1964
When the teenagers in the audience kept screaming after The Rolling Stones finished their first song, Ed Sullivan was forced to shout “Quiet!” multiple times before he could introduce the next act. When the band closed the show with “Time Is On My Side”, Sullivan exclaimed “Come on, let them hear it!”, which caused such an uproar, Ed’s short conversation with Mick Jagger was completely inaudible. Sullivan vowed that The Stones would never appear on his show again, but later relented.

THE ETERNAL CRUSH OF THINGS
“I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” 1 Cor. ix. 22
A Christian worker has to learn how to be God’s noble man or woman amid a crowd of ignoble things. Never make this plea – If only I were somewhere else! All God’s men are ordinary men made extraordinary by the matter He has given them. Unless we have the right matter in our minds intellectually and in our hearts affectionately, we will be hustled out of usefulness to God. We are not workers for God by choice. Many people deliberately choose to be workers, but they have no matter in them of God’s almighty grace, no matter of His mighty word. Paul’s whole heart and mind and soul were taken up with the great matter of what Jesus Christ came to do, he never lost sight of that one thing. We have to face ourselves with the one central fact – Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
“I have chosen you.” Keep that note of greatness in your creed. It is not that you have got God but that He has got you. Here, in this College, God is at work, bending, breaking, moulding, doing just as He chooses. Why He is doing it, we do not know; He is doing it for one purpose only – that He may be able to say, This is My man, My woman. We have to be in God’s hand so that He can plant men of the Rock as He has planted us.
Never choose to be a worker, but when God has put His call on you, woe be to you if you turn to the right hand or to the left. He will do with you what He never did with you before the call came; He will do with you what He is not doing with other people. Let Him have His way.

Mornin’ infidels!
Weird request. The Alec Baldwin shooting has brought up “cross draw”………….
Anyone here know of any Western Movie character that used the cross draw as their signature gun slinging?
Thanks.
I think what is being called ‘cross draw’ in this instance is the same as what has traditionally been know as the “Calvary Draw.”
According to Wikipedia (Link: Cavalry draw – Wikipedia)…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The characters Zorro (James Vega played by John Carroll) in the 1937 film serial “Zorro Rides Again”, and Zorro (Diego Vega played by Reed Hadley) in the 1939 film serial “Zorro’s Fighting Legion”, both famously carry their pistol in a Cavalier Holster.[2][circular reference] with sword and/or whip in the other hand.
The character of Sam Chisolm (played by Denzel Washington) in the 2016 movie “The Magnificent Seven” plays a bounty hunter and gunfighter who carries his pistol in a Cavalier Holster. It was alluded that the character fought for the Union in the Civil War.
The character of Rick O’Connell (played by Brendan Fraser) in the 1999 movie, ““The Mummy”“, uses this draw technique with guns on both left and right sides.
The Primary Antagonist Character, Charlie Prince (played by Ben Foster) in the 2007 film “3:10 to Yuma” carries 2 Smith & Wesson Model 3 Schofield Revolvers both worn in Cavalry Draw holsters.
Several characters in video game Red Dead Redemption 2, and the Red Dead series, use the cavalry draw method, including antagonist Micah Bell (played by Peter Blomquist).
Wild Bill Hickock, as portrayed in the television show Deadwood, also uses the Cavalry Draw, which is specifically seen 57 minutes into the first espisode.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is some additional interesting historical information about this type of pistol drawing at the above link.
Shoulder holster Tyrone Power in Jesse James.
Lee Marvin The man who shot liberty valance.
I have seen it but very rare. I cannot think of one but for some reason Young Guns comes to mind. Was there one in Tombstone? Maybe one of the cowboys? Possibly in one of the spaghetti westerns.
Found this clip from Outlaw Josey Wales……….Clint E does modified cross draw with the gun tucked in his belt………
?
Well, I had Clint Eastwood right at least. I could kinda see it but just couldn’t recall it specifically.
I have a recall for stupid, useless facts. I really don’t know why.

I wonder which war a white boy would have been seeing on TV in 1979 (Aug album release) or year prior 1978 to prompt that kind of imagery
doesn’t look like the Balkans were particularly fired up
there was Rhodesia, Guatemala, Iran revolution and hostage crisis in 1979 … Lebanon in 1978

Lasagna in the oven. Just hope it’s done before I get the call to to out. Yesterday I drove the better part of 500 miles for nothing. Trailer I was to pickup had already been picked up. Miss-communication between company and shipper. Got in at 23:00 after driving through rain almost all the way up to Romulus, MI and back.
When I pulled in the driveway my neighbor was walking his dog before going to bed. There was a break in the rain and the 54 deg temp was pleasant. There was 2″ in the rain gauge then. Today there is 5″ and I have a puddle in my front yard.

I love these reunion videos. God bless our military people and their families.
lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and his family as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Amen

Random thoughts. My father in-law passed away twenty years ago. I held his hand as he died and promised that we would take care of his bride. MIL has never driven and is totally dependent on my husband and I. We built her a lovely addition to our house, charge minimal rent, provide all utilities, including cable tv (I know, hate it, but she won’t even use a Cricket cell phone, not trying a smart TV).
She’s on two prescription meds for high blood pressure, and an anti-depressant. Had a heart to heart conversation with her today. Will help her make freezer meals going forward (she doesn’t like to cook and buys microwave meals). More real food and fresh vegetables are sorely needed.
She experienced a lot of anxiety after her husband died. We live in a very calm rural area, next will be to wean her off the anti depressant. More real food will help.
God grant me the serenity to do this.
She does listen to my husband and I, and sister in-law and her significant other, and despite the urging of her doc will not take the rona vaxx.
Why I need help from God – my mom was born in Germany in 1935, immigrated to the US in 1959. Despite being 5’2″ she drove a huge white Suburban (family nicknamed Moby Dick) with the help of a large phone book booster seat. Nothing held her back. I have a really hard time dealing with weak people.
Don’t beat yourself up (over your “weakness”).
Big picture your are doing right by your MIL and have more compassion and humanity than many others who are blind to their own shortcomings.
God bless you.
