This is an interesting situation, because the elected Sheriff is the highest constitutional officer in Los Angeles County. While city/county administrators can attempt to make life miserable for LA Sheriff Alex Villanueva, the dynamic of enforcement is another kettle of fish entirely.
According to CBS local, “In early August, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors unanimously ratified an executive order requiring all county employees, regardless of department, to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 1, with exemptions only for medical and religious purposes.”
Additionally, a county mandate went into effect midnight Thursday, requiring proof of at least one dose of the vaccine to enter bars, clubs, breweries, and attend events such as concerts, sporting events and theme parks. Proof of full vaccination will take effect Nov. 4, with enforcement mechanisms still not determined.
LA Sheriff Villanueva said, in a Facebook live post on Thursday, he will not enforce the mandate for his department with roughly 18,000 employees. WATCH:
(Los Angeles) […] “No, I’m not forcing anyone,” he said in response to a question regarding whether he would enforce the mandate for his deputies. The issue has become so politicized. There are entire groups of employees that are willing to be fired and laid off for having to get vaccinated. So, I don’t want to be in a position to lose 5% or 10% of my workforce overnight over a vaccine mandate, while at the same time, I’m barebones with the funding effort. This is like the worst of two worlds right here. So we have to pick and choose.”

There really is a giant disconnect in this state. On one side, the L.A./S.F./Sacramento governments, with all of their mask sheeple propped up by local media AND the Riverside/Inland Empire/Orange County/San Joaquin Valley pushback. There’s even a disconnect within the L.A. County culture, with a bunch of woke sheeple mindlessly complying to mask, vaccine passport, and social distancing mandates for over 18 months versus the 53,000 Dodger fans climbing all over each other at Chavez Ravine the other night. I live in SoCal (not LA thank God). For the most part everybody is living life as normal. I only wear a mask in two scenarios. 1) I am at work. I don’t love wearing a mask, but I do like getting a paycheck. 2) If I am going to enter a business that has a sign posted requesting that I wear one. I have to choose whether going in is worth it. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t, but their property, their choice, and I get to choose whether to deal with it. Fortunately, VERY FEW places are asking anyone to wear one. Even the movie theaters kids are running amok maskless, one can almost pretend none of this wackiness in happening. Not sure what’s happening IN schools, but when I am leaving work I see hordes of maskless kids walking home, so..

I believe I read in another story, he said he would NOT enforce the mandates among the business in L.A. County (remember, L.A. County is much bigger than L.A. City) because they have stretched his resources with all of the Defund the Police crap and that he thinks the L.A. County Board of Supervisors have overstepped their bounds. I believe he said that the County Board of Supervisors should create an enforcement agency with their mandates, and that he wouldn’t use finite Sheriff resources to enforce the business mandate.

Los Angeles city council voted to mandate vaccines for just about every indoor activity, including hair salons, gyms, restaurants, shopping malls, etc.
Los Angeles County outside of the city of LA does not have any vaccine mandates for the public.

There are L.A. County vaccine passport mandates that I believe went into effect today. They aren’t as draconian as the City mandates, but there are vaccine passports for bars, night clubs, entertainment venues. Restaurants and shopping malls and most indoor areas do NOT have vaccine passport mandates in L.A. County. I’m just going to stay in Orange County.
