We used to have huge Super Bowl parties every year. We planned our week around football and baseball games. We hosted get-togethers for playoffs. I’m sharing the links below and putting them on this thread because I think James O’Keefe is a stellar example of one person doing something. And that’s what these pieces are all about. I highly recommend reading them. (The first link includes some excerpts and the second link is the actual piece by Mollie Hemmingway.) I think she speaks to the dire situation in which we find ourselves and, more importantly, to the urgent need for every single one of us to take action.
As I’ve written in comments from time to time, I think this is critical. Determine who is in your sphere of influence. (You’d be surprised how long the list can be even for semi-hermit types.) Figure out what people and orgs (elected officials, etc) you want to contact on a routine basis. Think about your skill set (and also be willing to step outside your comfort zone). Think of all the ways you can have a voice and make an impact. Don’t let the cynic in you (or your fear) become a reason to do nothing.
These are some of the things I do. No doubt other Treepers have their list of actions.
~Contact elected officials from local gov’t all the way on up. Go to local mtgs such as school board and city council. Better yet, consider running for office.
~Get involved in elections. Check out precinct projects.
~Support brave patriots who really have their necks out there.
~Get off fascist run social media.
~Avoid buying crap from China. It’s hard. So much is made there. But there are companies emerging that make things in the USA, there’s also vintage/used, Etsy, Ebay, etc. Be creative. Also, don’t support businesses that push bullshit on the public and make sure they know why you don’t patronize them.
~Speak up at your place of worship.
~Light a fire under others to get involved.
