Since I never ran that industry, I can’t feel much responsibility for the bad actors in it. I just worked for doctors trying to help them improve patient outcomes. Simple, achievable goal, usually met as long as they left the hospital or clinic better than when they arrived. I TRY not to take it too personally when some in here dump on health care professions. Sometimes I fail. Everyone (self included) has had some negative experiences with uncaring or incompetent providers. It can color your views.
The only truly draining experience was that year interning in late-stage dementia care, where 100% of facility residents were sent to die of it. I loved them, cleaned and fed them, gave them meds, and couldn’t help cure a single one. At least they got humane, pain-managed deaths. The workers that can do that job for a long time are saints.
