I read some of their fantasizing about a globe mobilizing war against an alien enemy and all the wonderful things they could do with that kind of power, not a couple years ago.

What’s the Difference?

What’s the difference between a piano and a fish? You can tune a piano, but you can’t tuna fish!
While you may have never wondered about the difference between a piano and a fish, you may have wondered about the difference in the various types of prayer that Paul mentions in I Timothy 2:1:
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.”
The word “supplication” means to ask someone for something (I Kings 8:52; Esther 4:8). Some grace believers are uncomfortable asking God for things, but it is our own apostle Paul who encourages us to “let your requests be made known unto God” (Phil. 4:6). Just try not to be as selfish as unbelievers are when they pray. I once saw a comic strip that featured God sitting at a computer and saying to an angel, “I need to set up a spam filter to block requests to win the lottery!” While Paul says to let your requests be made known unto God “in every thing,” the more you mature in Christ, the less selfish your requests will be.
If you’re wondering what the difference is between “supplications” and “prayers,” don’t tell anyone! You see, if you are wondering that, it means you think the word “prayer” means to ask God for things! But there are lots of other things you can say to God in prayer. You can praise Him for His goodness and His grace, or just talk to Him about whatever is on your heart. If you have children who only call when they need something, you know how God feels if all you ever do is ask Him for things.
You can also make “intercessions” to God in prayer. Intercessions are selfless prayers prayed to God solely on behalf of others, the kind of prayer the Lord prays for us (Rom. 8:34).
The final type of prayer Paul mentions is the “giving of thanks.” This kind of prayer needs no explanation, but it can usually use some exhortation!
Now that we’ve defined these prayers, I’d like to submit for your consideration that Paul mentioned them in a specific sequence that reflects the order of spiritual maturity. When you were first saved, your prayers mostly consisted of asking God for things. But as you matured in the Lord, you began to “pray” more, praising God and talking to Him about whatever was on your heart. Then, more and more, the focus of your prayers moved away from yourself to others, and you began interceding for them more than for yourself. Perhaps you’ve already arrived at the point where you mostly just thank God when you bow before the throne of His grace.
If not, if you’ve never spent an entire season of prayer just thanking God, I can’t recommend it enough. Since Paul mentions it last in this list of prayers that reflects the order of spiritual maturity, I believe it to be the highest form of prayer that you can pray to God.

RECONCILING ONE’S SELF TO THE FACT OF SIN
“This is your hour, and the power of darkness.” Luke xxii. 53
It is not being reconciled to the fact of sin that produces all the disasters in life. You may talk about the nobility of human nature, but there is something in human nature which will laugh in the face of every ideal you have. If you refuse to agree with the fact that there is vice and self-seeking, something downright spiteful and wrong in human beings, instead of reconciling yourself to it, when it strikes your life, you will compromise with it and say it is of no use to battle against it. Have you made allowance for this hour and the power of darkness, or do you take a recognition of yourself that misses out sin? In your bodily relationships and friendships do you reconcile yourself to the fact of sin? If not, you will be caught round the next corner and you will compromise with it. If you reconcile yourself to the fact of sin, you will realize the danger at once – Yes, I see what that would mean. The recognition of sin does not destroy the basis of friendship; it establishes a mutual regard for the fact that the basis of life is tragic. Always beware of an estimate of life which does not recognize the fact that there is sin.
Jesus Christ never trusted human nature, yet He was never cynical, never suspicious, because He trusted absolutely in what He could do for human nature. The pure man or woman, not the innocent, is the safeguarded man or woman. Men and women have no business to be innocent; God demands that they be pure and virtuous. Innocence is the characteristic of a child; it is a blameworthy thing for a man or woman not to be reconciled to the fact of sin.

Original Sin. Because of this man experiences concupiscence. Only grace can save us. We cannot will or fight our way out of this predisposition toward sin.
Concupiscence is understood as an effect of original sin that remains after baptism. The waters of baptism cleanse us of original sin itself, but concupiscence remains as a lingering effect. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that “certain temporal consequences of sin remain in the baptized, such as suffering, illness, death … as well as an inclination to sin that Tradition calls concupiscence” (No. 1264, emphasis in original).
Thank you Menagerie! Original sin…because of Eve…we are born into it involuntarily and had no chance of being reconciled to God our Father therefore, Jesus Christ came to save us from Sin, thus we become pure in the sight of God. Because of concupiscence, we strive daily to remain as close to God through prayer to mitigate the external sins and its effects. ?
The waters of baptism cleanse us of original sin itself.
Not what the Bible teaches. Water baptism does not save anyone. The blood of Christ is atonement for man’s sin. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me”. He didn’t say water baptism was a necessary precursor to coming to the Father through Himself. “If ye confess with your mouth and believe with your heart, you shall be saved”. Again, no mention of water as cleansing us of sins.
Finally, “I baptize with water, but One is coming who will baptize with the Holy Spirit. I am not fit to untie the thong of his sandals.”, John said. According to your view, John’s baptism provided removal (cleansing) of our sin, which is to say baptism = salvation. But John himself never said that.

A twisted interpretation of what Paul taught. He said “Therefore put off the old man with its sins, and put on the new man. Paul taught that our sins were nailed to the cross with Christ and we are new creatures, not the same old creatures with a new coat of paint. ‘If you have been crucified with Christ, ye also live with Christ’. ‘Know ye not that as many as were baptized into his death, were also baptized unto His resurrection?’ ‘Therefore consider your earthly members dead unto sin.’ Peter (IIRC) also said, “There is no other name under heaven by which men may be saved.” Peter, Paul, nor any other author in the word of God taught that baptism removed our sin or gave us salvation.

As far as “concupiscence”, that’s a man made and twisted interpretation of Paul’s woe found in Romans 7:21-25. Note Paul’s way out of this dilemma is through Christ Jesus, not water baptism or any other type of “works”.
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

If I’ve ever heard of this government scheme I don’t remember it. A lot of people have lost their homes to this awful, predatory scam. There is even one man in here who was not mentally capable of understanding what he was agreeing to and signing. For example, he agreed to a kitchen remodel and can’t even cook. PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Local news (Reno, NV) station this morning, anticipating an increase in the number of virus cases because of the new variant clearly, several times, laid blame on the unvaccinated should the City and State see any increase in virus numbers.
The numbers won’t be released until later on today.
There was no mention that vaccinated people can get this virus too.
Setting the table to get the general population on the local level to believe that restrictions on freedom of movement “you aren’t vaccinated so you’re the problem” will be an organic, local, reasonable thing to do.
My understanding that the local news markets other than weather and the usual local news (traffic, events) are all reading from the same script when it comes to pushing the great re-set agenda so was wondering if others are seeing this same spin (“unvaccinated are bad people making us all have to endure this nasty virus”) in their local news?
I don’t watch local news, but it absolutely is showing up as a theme at the national level. There’s some bunk out there about how the “unvaccinated will CAUSE the mutations,” and that will be the narrative. The vaccine hesitant are killing people.

For the interested Treepers, Baby Climber was born yesterday afternoon. A bouncing, bonny, healthy baby boy. He and I are both doing well. Since I chose a home birth, we skipped the COVID test and are curled up in bed together now.

About 40 years ago, I worked in a health food store and a man who shopped there often said his wife was going to have a home birth. They had 5 children in the hospital and each one had had a problem, one’s ear was pull almost completely off, another got some infection, etc. So she had a home birth. I asked him how it went. He said she did very well, but he took the baby into another room to clean it up and when he came back she was gone. He found her in the kitchen fixing a burger because she said she was starving. He told her she shouldn’t be up, but she said she would go back to bed after she ate. LOL
