Not true. My sister’s husband lost both his sister and BIL two weeks ago. The BIL was elderly and in bad health – COVID finished him off. His wife was 10 years younger and in good health. COVID killed her because she did not go to the Doc as soon as she got it.

Sadly, “going to the doctor” for anyone who tests positive is simply not an option in my area. Doctors REFUSE to see patients with COVID. At best they get a virtual visit, but of all the people I know, they merely got phone calls from staff advising tylenol, hydrate, rest and ER if they couldn’t breathe. How many lives could have been saved and how is this acceptable medical practice?

I have not had Covid but I am old and have regular doctor visits (2 different doctors) and have asked them what they are doing for their Covid patients and they are treating with protocols that sound pretty good (cortisteroids, prednisone, invermectin, monoclonal antibody infusions where appropriate, zinc, azythromycin (z-pack), vitamin D and C supplements, etc.). My neighbors that had Covid were treated similarly right away. I don’t get this nontreatment business.

Whether absolute or as a percentage of population, the infection and death rates are substanially less throughout the state than in the few urban areas, essentially Portland and its suburbs, Salem and Eugene.
I just looked at my county and we’re finally up to nearly 80 published deaths; this time last year there were no deaths, the first ones showed up in mid-July. One factor I believe is relevant is our area is a playground for the wealthy in the urban areas and many own vacation/second homes in the area and come here to escape and play and bring their urbanity with them, including viruses. The spike in cases after last July 4, when the state lifted restrictions and we were overrun, were IMO connected.
While it’s rare to see anything out of the ordinary in the local population and virtually no one I know talks about the pandemic or anything connected to it, the hit to the tourism and business communities have been nasty. If not for decades of subsistence living since the fed destroyed the logging industry it would have been much worse; people are used to ‘getting through the winter’ type struggles and many live a very basic lifestyle.
No one I know has been vaccinated and most of us are pretty old. IDK who else got the virus; I did over a year ago, was sick a few days, aches and pains for a week or two and that was that. The social and financial fallout from the rest has left the actual virus almost a footnote on history. Hopefully most folks have fared better in that department. How about just teaching a lot of the basics: math, english, the Constitution, the founding of our Great Country, critical thinking, writing, shop, home ec, western civ, slaughter ball in PE, etc. Just the basics.
