I’ve never heard of or seen a 7000 sq foot penthouse, nor a house for that matter, with 12 bedrooms. And I’ve seen a number of them. Luxury places have large bedrooms and baths. My parents lived in one about that size in their later years and it only had 5 bedrooms and 4 baths.

Frankly, that seems a little silly to me. The difference between 1675 a month and 1500 a month while maybe a good deal, isn’t enough of a fair market difference to be a foul in my opinion.

It is not unusual to read about multiple Senators or Representatives sharing the rent on an apartment.

I can see a legitimate way that it makes sense. It could be essentially a boarding house. Maybe there are 4-5 (or 8!) Congressmen. They pay a reasonable rent. They have a social community away from work. And Luntz hears all their News and seves as their local guide. Plus his investment appreciates. It is a great idea, if that is what he is doing.
A long time ago, early in the Obama years, Frank Luntz was on Fox News with his panel talking about what ordinary citizens think. He asked viewers to submit their names to his website for their political opinions, so I sent in mine.
A few months later I was sent a letter from the Nielson TV ratings company asking if I wanted to be part of their ranking system. Upon researching what was involved I would have to plug their equipment into my system, and there were many complaints of it messing up the TV. In addition there were other complaints from participants. Promises of paying money were made for my assistance, and they included two fresh dollar bills in the letter. My viewing habits being spied on were not appealing to me, so I returned the money anonymously.
I knew that they obtained my name from Frank Luntz given the timing, so some type of financial agreement was made between Nielson and Luntz to provide names. It would not surprise me that he has made money by this and other similar means. Who knows how else.
As a follow up, a year or so ago again another letter was sent by Nielsen only asking for my favorite tv and radio station with promises to send me $10 for my opinion. I was surprised that I was still in their system. Hopefully I will not hear from them again.

If there is one good thing that can be said about the p’demic, it is that it has exposed the sordid underbelly of many people and institutions. Washington DC needs to be fumigated.

I thought the most over the top news out of DC in the ‘midst of the pandemic’, was the revelation as to how Mark Warner made a grilled cheese sandwich.
Anybody that would eat — and revel in — something like that is indeed a strange-breed . . .
