A beautiful tribute worth every second. Read Mark Steyn HERE:
…”the Big Voice on the Right, the largest obstacle to the complete marginalization of conservative ideas in our culture. All those of us who labored in his shadows owe it to him to continue the fight.”
~ Mark Steyn
Thank you Mark.for your tribute – and thanks for covering the show
We sure will miss Rush
Mr. Limbaugh’s passing feels like losing a treasured friend, one who always gave more than he got. The man is genuinely loved by millions, each feeling his loss, personally.
May G-d rest his soul.
“Talent returned to God”
What a perfect tagline!!
Mark says it all.
In addition, Mark, all of us privileged to have listened to this “talent on loan from God” owe it to him now to take the message and use it for good in Rush’s honor. No greater tribute could be paid to a man who believed strongly in the arena of ideas as he would say. Knowledge is power. Let’s renew the Rush to Excellence everyday.
Great comment cplogics, just wonderful
Now it is time for us to step up and use our own talent on loan from God.
We are not Rush but we all have something.
That would be, as you say, a great tribute.
“Let’s renew the Rush to Excellence every day”!
Rush Limbaugh changed the way I see the world. Listened for 30 years. RIP fine Sir. You certainly earned your eternal rest.
RIP Rush!! Started listening to Him right after clinton got elected and off and mostly on since then. His voice will be sorely missed. Pray His quick ascent into Heaven and hope His suffering was minimal before His departure. Thank you Mark for your excellent tribute.
Best undocumented fill-in host for Rush Limbaugh ever.
Let’s hope Mark Steyn now takes the gig permanently.
That’s what I’ve been hoping for too – those times when I faced the sad reality of the situation.
I hope so too. Rush had the unique ability to poke fun where no one else dared to go……and was incredibly funny. Let’s face it, leftists and their wacko ideas are pretty funny. Rush was able to show their brazen lies and absurdity.
Mark Steyn also has that ability.
You have to have the right mix of conservative values, bravery, logic, a quick wit, and a great sense of patriotism. It’s hard to think of anyone being able to fill those shoes, but in El Rushbo’s wisdom (and talent on loan from God), he warmed us up by giving the reigns to Mark Steyn.
reins
May GOD bless the soul of Rush Limbaugh.
Thank you Mark! You do this man and this nation a great honor with your heartfelt words.
Rush Limbaugh and Donald Trump are two of my most favorite men and now I’m missing both of them. Heartbroken.
Me too Parteagirl and Mark Steyn is running a close third.
It’s all Rush’s fault that I stopped listening to music in the car. Actually, it was my wife that got me started. All those hours on the road all across the Southern California as a rep in the middle of the day. Mark’s complimentary descriptor is perfect; “Talent returned to God.”
Mega Dittos to you Rush. Blessings to his wife and family for allowing him to be shared with so many of us. You will be greatly missed but not forgotten.
Wow, that is so true in my case. Well, I still listen to music on car radio every now and then, but Rush was the first one to tune me to talk radio, and specifically, political talk radio. Giga ditto to Rush.
God used Rush Limbaugh to help this nation in a huge way. He will be blessed for eternity.
Rush, gone too soon. In the fight to save our country, our culture, I’m sure Rush would say, “Next man up.” Even so, Damn, I feel low.
So true Terrence, gone too soon.
Rush may have been 70 years old but sadly that is too young.
Try to cheer up, I love your comment “Rush would say , next man up” without missing a beat and expect us to keep the fight going strong.
We can mourn our hero Rush and keep his memory alive (sorry to sound so corny) but get back into the fight.
What an incredible void I feel. Rush was my daily dose of optimism in this increasingly disturbing world. Thanks Mark, couldn’t have put it any better.
Maybe we should all put Rush in our name tags for awhile.
There’s a rule generally called the 10 year rule in which only a select few people remain great at what they do for that period of time before they decline for various reasons. Rush was one of those exceptions to that rule, and did so while dealing with almost insurmountable odds like losing his hearing in a business where your hearing is essential!
If there were a mountain carved with radio legends, it would be called Mount Rushmore. ?
overcame deafness, overcame addiction, overcame the attacks of the left and at last has overcome death itself! Enter your rest Overcomer!
Rush almost seems to enjoy it more when the liberals picked on him.
The more they bashed him the more he “glowed” and the stronger he hit them.
Most people shrink back at the onslaught but Rush loved the fight.
Because the libs cannot compete with him in the realm of common sense ideas
You are a genius, Magabear.
Mount RUSHmore will forever mean more to me than it already does, since I will now see in it the historian/radio host who fought for America in a most unique way — RUSH Limbaugh.
???
As they said of Churchill, “From whence shall come another.”
Mark was probably my favorite guest host during the years that I listened to Rush.
I was an outside sales rep, just after Clinton was elected when I found Rush on the radio. Right now, it escapes me what Clinton had done that I was searching for news about while driving to my next stop, when by accident I found his program. I landed on his program and one of his parodies was on and I was hooked.
Will miss him noon to 3 pm daily.
Mark Steyn is the best of all those who have guest-hosted for Rush, but the late Tony Snow did the gig frequently back in the ’90s and was also excellent.
RUSH: Well, I appreciate it. Look, I appreciate the question, which is why I took it seriously. A lot of people, when they ask me that question, are really saying, “So you think you’re God, huh?” And no. That’s the point of saying it’s on loan. ‘Cause we’re all going home someday. And talent vanishes when that happens. So it’s just another way of thanking God for whatever abilities I have from wherever they came. Nothing more than that.

I always found it interesting how people would – purposefully I believe – misinterpret what that meant. I understood it the first time I heard him say it.
Twas genuine humility.
With a healthy dose of fun.
It’s what the Leftwing does reactively. They have zero ability to quote truth tellers verbatim. It’s against their religion, against their entire reason for existence.
Rush had the lying Left figured out almost completely by the time he began his nationally syndicated radio show. He authored two books in the early ‘90s that you can read today and find very little that Rush wrote about Liberals has changed in 30 years.
And they absolutely hated and declared war on him for pulling back the curtains on their deceitfully treacherous masquerade. Rush used that to simply mock them and steadily build up the size of his faithful audience.
Heaven has a new EIB network, and the Saints and Angels will be entertained and informed for eternity.
I met Rush on his first “Rush to Excellence” tour in 1988. It was obvious even then that he would become a legend.
The Pretenders – My City Was Gone
I just found this nugget….Chrissie Hynde praises Trump for honoring Rush Limbaugh …
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8015581/Chrissie-Hynde-praises-Trump-honoring-Rush-Limbaugh-dad-loved-pundit.html
Limbaugh uses the famous bass line from The Pretenders tune ‘My City Was Gone’ on his program but Hynde said she had given him permission because her father liked him.
I remember when Ms. Hynde did that and the music industry went apoplectic. In response she delivered a pretty good, succinct, beat down of their intolerance, as I recall.
Rush drove the Left batsheet. They invented Net Neutrality just to take him off the air. RIP to the GOAT.
They tried to resurrect the “Fairness Doctrine” for that purpose as well.
Say, anyone remember “Air America?”
Did anyone ever even hear it? 😉
Mark, if the show continues, you belong in the chair.
I’d listen, Horsesoldier. We need him. Sinister foreigner and all..
After President Trump was elected is the first time I started listening to Rush and I will miss him terrible
Rest In Peace and may the good lord watch over your family and Rush Go with God We will miss you
My ability to listen to Rush was also on loan from G*D!
test
Back in the early 1970s, I worked on a railroad in McKeesport, PA. Our local AM station was located just across the street, WXYZ 1360. There was a disc jockey who went by the name of Steve Christie. As it turned out, that was actually Rush using a stage name.
Rush tended to venture into politics as he was in between spinning records. His program manager eventually fired him for doing that and told him “You’ll never make it in radio!” So funny as I haven’t a clue what this hapless manager’s name was, but everyone know the name of who he fired.
I can’t believe this legend was just across the street from me and I may have even unknowingly crossed paths with him in the street.
Steyn said it best … Talent returned to God.
Rest In Peace, dear Rush. I thank God I had the opportunity to experience Rush Limbaugh and President Donald John Trump.
After Catherine finished for the first time in 33 year I turned off the show. Just to bummed to keep listening
The battle for freedom and liberty really never is over, and there are really low points in it, but I’m not giving up, and I’m not gonna engage in phony pep talks, either. Rush Limbaugh

I don’t know whether iHeart Media will even think there’s a chance to remain profitable by continuing this three-hour timeslot with a successor, but if they do, Mark Steyn is the only “replacement” that Rush’s loyal audience would accept. Steyn has total credibility to step in and retain a lot of that audience. I don’t think there’s anybody else short of Donald Trump himself that we can say that about.
I’ve long felt that, though I must admit I’ve warmed to Todd Herman the last several months. I think they’d make a fine tag team.
I mostly agree with Right Mover, but must pause to fully endorse your comment Maquis. Will not forget sometime during the summer of 17′, Todd Herman was hosting and heard him perform an imitation and spoof of Bernie Sanders that was ‘pitch perfect’ and just nailed the ass-backward logic of this buffoon. Always enjoy him hosting. I heard the first moments of the show today, was a humbling moment.
I started listening to Rush with my dad, during the Clinton years. Rush had a clarity and a gift for explaining it to his audience. I’ll forever miss his clarity, his wisdom. God bless you, Rush, in your journey into infinity.
Found in the bin…. 🙁
Mark is a very smart guy with a great sense of humor. He is great to listen to as a stand-in… the best. I don’t know if he could it 5 days a week though.
A beautiful tribute to the best ever.
I don’t know anyone who could do what Rush was able to do 5 days a week. Mark does have a way with words.
Very sad. I feel so disheartened by his death but he is in a better place. He will watch over the 75 millions of us and President Trump.
RIP Rush! Listened to you for 30 odd years. God Bless your soul.
Comedy can be the secret weapon, going forward. The Left does snark, the Left does ridicule, but the Left is not funny. The ratings for the late night shows now, are a tiny fraction of Carson’s audience. They know it, so no conservative will be allowed a venue on late night.
Rush was funny, without trying hard. A funnier version of Rush would explode. Dennis Miller saw it, and tried, but Dennis is not built for a wide audience. Helen Keller could write satire of AOC. The road to comedy success on the radio, for some brave soul, lies wide and open. Courage will be required, more than comedic talent.
Rush was not choked off, censored off, because AM radio literally could not have survived without him. Conservative ideas will continue to find safe haven on talk radio, whether the rich owners of the radio stations like it, or not.
First listened to Rush in 1990. Armed Forces Radio broadcast him into Saudi Arabia during the build up to Gulf War I. I had just moved to there to work for the oil company. He spoke truth with insight and got me interested in the political side of conversations, revealed the lies of the msm and how destructive that was getting.
I’m going to miss his sense of humor a lot. God bless him and his Kathryn.
No one, not even Will Rogers, had ever make politics so much fun!
It really hit when I got to “Talent returned to God.” Still does typing this.
There is no real replacement for Rush, he had a unique talent and a brilliant way of putting things into perspective, while being able to recall details of things past which related to current issues.
I am sure there are others who can carry on his work, but I don’t think we will be blessed with his like again. There are talented radio personalities who can carry on some of his traits, and can be effective in keeping listeners informed, it will likely take a number of hosts to equal the content Rush was able to deliver.
God Speed Rush. To everything there is a season, and we are in a truly cold and dark winter season, made sadder by losing his clarity of mind to bring us to understand what is happening, and how we are do our part.
Rush has been called home. We are the poorer for his voice being lost now to the ages.
That was a great article, and now I am in tears again. When there were guest hosts for Rush’s show, I always hoped that it would be Mark, although Todd Herman had grown on me lately, too.
Today we’ve lost his voice but we’ve gained a Legend.
Who will fill his shoes?
Thanks Mark!
Dito Mark. Dito.
Steyn did a wonderful job on his Rush obituary, one that measured up to the Great Man. RIP Rush.
A best friend I never met. I will miss those days I was bummed out on the news of the day, Rush would come on and do 40 minutes on why it was no big deal , like he knew what we were concerned about. He was a daily benchmark of what REALLY was going on. I will miss him terribly.
Godspeed my friend. There will never be another.
Right there with you.
Speaking for myself, but probably for a lot of us, Rush was the best friend I never met. God Bless Rush, enjoy your reward in heaven.
Hopefully he is with the maker. I want to believe so.
Talent returned to God quote from Mark Steyn. Makes a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. I will miss my drive time with Russ immensely.
Rush
It is hard to believe we won’t be hearing his voice for three hours each day. I am heartbroken. 1st President Trump losing the election and now this. My consolation is that Rush knew Jesus. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Correction, President Trump WINNING the election, and having it stolen by crooks that need to be dealt with…..
I cried today. Just absolutely loved listening to Rush. The only thing that would make me feel a little better is if Mark could be talked into taking over.
