Is it true that some Repubs voted against a single-issue $2,000 check?
If true, is there a Roll Call vote somewhere?
And – if it’s true – I’m very curious what their “reasoning” might be to throw the American people under the bus over 2K, all the while *frequently* giving the OK to billions of give-aways for absolute crap.

Not up to speed totally on this but understood Pelosi called for a Unanimous Consent process thereby avoiding the roll call vote. Any single voice of dissent quashed it and I also understood there were several on the R side who dissented.

No. Pelosi used the Unanimous Consent trick to kill the measure. That means if only one (1) House member votes against it, the measure fails. She could have called for a regular vote, which would pass with a simple majority. But a Unanimous Consent requires the entire membership to vote affirmatively.

This procedure was not used to kill the measure. It was used to allow Congress to approve the check without everyone having to come back for a roll call vote. Good or bad, Pelosi WANTS this check as does PDJT. It is not the DEM leadership killing this, it is the Republicans, for good or bad. I mean, if facts matter.

I wrote all three of my Congress-critters to inform that I knew they all voted to pass Porkulus covid bill. I told them to beg POTUS to veto the bill and then to support his veto.

I think the idea was to raise it from $600 to $2000, but to remove other spending so it would be revenue neutral.

The $600 is just camouflage anyway. For the vast majority of Americans that’s less than a month’s rent. (Median rent 2019 ~ $1000 for one bedroom, $1300 for 2bdrm varies by state and metro quite a bit of course.)

The relief should be targeted thru the income tax and based on a % of income lost

PDJT had asked for the pork to be cut out, and the check raised to 2000. Dems were happy to just spend more money, but cut none of the pork. If you are a taxpayer, that 2000 dollar check will probably cost you 6 to 8 thousand, because they are sending them to everyone, and only the tax payers will be on the hook to pay for them all. Trump is an extremely clever man and a very dedicated man. But he is one man. To use the sort of analogy that the child minded left often use, he is like Ned Stark going to King’s Landing and ending up in jail then beheaded. The entire system works against a genuine reformer. In America, the rulers are not only not nationalistic they are frequently not even genuinely American, especially after 1965. They aren’t “American” the way normal white socially conservative Americans are, or how Trump is American. But unless I’m misreading something, it would seem that the meeting last Friday would indicate President is not executing some plan that was developed in advance, but is instead adjusting his defense against it as obstructions develop. I’m not criticizing the President, just those who keep telling us “trust the Plan”. In refusing to hear Texas v. Pennsylvania, the U.S. Supreme Court abdicated its constitutional duty to resolve a real and substantial controversy among states that was properly brought as an original action in that Court. As a result, the Court has come under intense criticism for having evaded the most important inter-state constitutional case brought to it in many decades, if not ever.
However, even in its Order dismissing the case, the Supreme Court identified how another challenge could be brought successfully — by a different plaintiff. This paper explains that legal strategy. But first we focus on the errors made by the Supreme Court — in the hopes that they will not be made again.

As many of you, I have been on an emotional rollercoaster, and have been feeling a bit down over lack of traction on reversing the steal. Everyday I am reading comments here, hoping for good news. I needed to take step back and remind myself, Trump has this. Trump makes statements that always end up being correct ie “Obama spied on me” – Trump was correct. Trump said he won by a lot- that MSM will be shocked at the corruption- he will be proven right. Trump said he will NEVER allow America to become a socialist country – I believe him. IMHO -Trump needed to go through litigation to expose to the American people

I think it was Bannon leaving that really started the decline. One of their best writers also left to go work in the white house with Bannon.
They used to have a few writers who actually did research and wrote original stories. Now all they publish are opinion articles and news that was posted hours earlier on Gateway Pundit. I also find a lot of racist comments there, so I don’t spend much time reading comments. I sent an email asking why they didn’t remove racist comments, but never got a response.
BB deteriorated into not much more than an anger-inducing clickbait site maybe two or three years ago.
When I found CTH in November of 2017, I immediately stopped my daily visits to BB because they were totally useless for getting any real in depth analysis or real investigative journalism. Too many articles had a headline with less than 10 sentences after that. Waste of time, IMHO.
The only problem with this place is you can spends hours here and learn a ton. Then go down the roabbit hole of reading the supporting stuff and hours go by, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

The electors numbering 270 together constitute a coalition of the willing who combine to select the president. Absent key members, they coalition numbering fewer than 270 loses its constitutional right to select the president. Therefore, it is in the interest of every elector and sponsor of those electors to see to it that none of its willing members be abducted and impressed into service for the opposition coalition.
I am no student of the process, but if the state legislature is the constitutionally chartered entity which selects the electors, and if the state acts in a way that misappropriates that duty/right, then to the degree another state has an interest in subject state’s electors being restrained from joining the coalition, that state has cause to go to the Supreme Court for redress.
It would appear that about all the Court could do is force the failing state’s legislature to perform their duty if it hadn’t already. If the legislature did its duty but the executive branch certified a different slate, the Court would obviate that slate and accept whatever the legislature put forth.
California sued and won against Arizona when the Arizona legislature passed a strong immigration enforcement law. Why did California have “STANDING” to sue Arizona over a law effecting Arizona? California has standing to sue Arizona in federal court and win but Texas doesn’t!

A Johns Hopkins research study concluded that there were no excess deaths in the 79 years old and older age group since February and determined that the Coronavirus deaths are people who died from various unrelated causes such as lung cancer, stroke and heart disease but who tested positive for Covid-19 within 30 days of death and counted in accordance with the CDC guidance!
We actually don’t have any excess deaths. They are just hijacking deaths from other causes. If we were truly in a “deadly pandemic” then the total death count this year, should be higher than previous years, but it’s not.
The German Corona Investigative Committee found that there were NO excess deaths in any nation (so they are just recategorizing deaths from other causes). Here’s the recent JHU study that found the same:

IMO, the other key info to focus on is the death count. I think you may possibly have misunderstood what happened, Pelosi wanted them to pass a bill that simply increased the amount from $600 to $2000. What Republicans wanted was to increase the mount from $600 to $2000, but to reduce other expenditures in the bill so that there would not be an increase in total cost.
Pelosi knew this, so she asked for unanimous consent, knowing some Republicans would object. I think it backfired as more people understand what Pelosi did. Now they are talking about having a floor vote which is likely to pass, but will increase the total cost of the bill by many billions of dollars.
