Data Engineers Have Optimal Solution To Restore Comment Function:
Success !!
It appears we have a workable solution achieved. Excellent….
….Welcome Back Gang… let’s test drive this thing.
Run it hard, use this thread to try out the stuff you are familiar doing. Let’s see what we need to tweek modify or adjust to get back to peak operational condition. Share your issues and ideas in comments.
We are no longer on Automattic/WordPress servers and despite the extremely tight forced eviction timeline we have achieved a safe rebuild ten hours ahead of deadline. Quite an accomplishment considering the scale of the task at hand, and a holiday in the middle of it.
There are a few random reports of regional DNS issues and here’s a few tips we are discovering from users:
♦ Make sure you are using the latest version of your browser software. Reports of Mac not reaching through to new site, but when OS “Big Sur” is added things improve.
♦ Make sure your cookies and cache are not returning you to old site activity. I apologize for this issue because clearing your browsing history is always a mess and can often require you to re-enter all saved passwords, but that’s one of the unavoidable issues with an entirely new set of servers and new DNS targeting.
♦ All regional Internet Service Providers (ISP’s), responses for queries and bookmarks launched by users, should be aimed toward our new servers now. Some of them took a long time to update, and there is a familiar pattern to it (discussion for another day).
♦ Remember, while we are using WordPress open source code/software, we are not operating inside the WordPress/Automattic platform. Some proprietary functions of WP/Automattic will not be available. I think the notification bell is one of those functions.
♦ There will be a new email-notification program initiated later today that will allow you to sign up for email notifications of new articles and updates. [In the works] In the interim Twitter users can use the notification function and all articles will cross-post to Twitter.
There are going to be features and site enhancements to come along later. Right now the priority was to keep everything as identical and familiar as possible. We will likely be doing some cool site changes now that we have full proprietary control and ownership of the site.
Thanks again for bearing with us as we work through some technical issues, search for optimal solutions, and fiercely retain the original values and mission priority of the Treehouse. The Truth Has No Agenda
Please be patient if you get hung up in a moderation cue. It may take time to release some comments if they are hung up in moderation. The site admins do a great job with comment moderation and release so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue; and quite frankly, there are likely to be benefits from not having WordPress/Automattic software filtering through the comments as they post. Spam removal will be a priority.
Thank you for your support and fellowship. We will always work diligently to deserve it.
As word spreads… the voices of the rebel alliance are arriving now. The best open-source researchers in the world are firing up their laptops and preparing for the most critical moments in the battle to save our nation. The CTH printing presses are rebuilt, oiled, and the deep rumble of the machinery is slowly building to a deafening roar.
We are extraordinarily thankful… and itching to get FREE VOICES back into this fight.
Love to all,
~ Sundance
Testing, testing. Still connected to WP.
Groovy
Not sure first test worked.
Well, it looks like I might be able to comment!
Wow. Just wow.
I can see the site now and read the comments on my Android phone using Chrome but cannot get anything beyond November 28th on my desktop, which is Windows 10. I have tried using both Chrome and Firefox and have cleared cache has repeatedly using both browsers. Any suggestions? Please!
vikingmom is your laptop windows 10? if so you will need to clear the cache(memory of your web sites).
also in the Windows menu you can Right-click on the top left Windows icon and a menu will pop up. You can choose Command Prompt (Administrator). That will pop up a box asking for permission for Windows to make changes to the machine. Click yes. A box will open up where you can type in the command. it should look like this: c:\windows\system32 type ipconfig /flushdns then you will hit the enter key. it should look like this:
Windows IP Configuration
Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.
Close out the Command Prompt box. Now check your computer
I have done that at least five times – I had the site up and working for a little while earlier today but now it is back to yesterday’s “UPDATE IN PROGRESS” post and I don’t know what happened.
Some things you gotta do can be such a colossal pain in the arse, but you gotta do what you gotta do — and the reward is that it is just oh so fine when it’s all finally tip-top and done. woot!
Vikingmom…I can’t seem to reply directly yet, but I am on Chrome with Windows 10 on my desktop and and everything seems to be fine.
Progress is fantastic. Thank you, Sundance, and all who are assisting in this transition.

Okay – I am REALLY confused now! I was just finally able to access the new site on my Windows 10 desktop but it looks like I am the first one to comment even though I can see dozens of comments on my Android phone.
Do I still need to have a WordPress account to comment?
Still logged into WordPress. Test.

Okay – it just started working, I think? But no “like” button?
It’s ahrd being old and “not-techie” LOL!!
Hi vikingmom- a tip while waiting for a Like button:
Because I never have used WordPress, I’ve never had a Like button. When I want to Like something, I do a quick reply with a happy face or thumbs up or whatever.
Now with sundance’s excellent tech explanation, I now know I was creating extra metadata doing that.
I will be therefore sparing with that practice until, maybe, after the dust settles and we are all President Trump’s second term, sundance and the crew somehow add in Like buttons for everyone, since no one will be on WordPress any more.
But just sayin’ – always a way to say Like!

Hello World…….
Thank you Sundance and hope your IT help is able to work all the kinks and bugs out soon.
And no little bell for notifications?
Mom – I think that was a part of the “bad” WP we left behind. Get a small branch between your teeth, bite down hard and wait a bit. The people who know how are aware of the holes, and I’m sure are prioritizing the fixes. Just be thankful Sundance pulled us out of Big Tech’s clutches before they turned us into salamanders.???
Sounds great Captain! Engage……..

IT is nice to be back..This is now working from Chrome and windows as well as IPAD/
It’s great to be back! Gotta say how much I missed reading all of your comments, surprising how big a hole it was. Also need to say how much I appreciate the absolute integrity of Sundance. His unwillingness to discard the precious wealth of OUR comments is unique in this era.
Thanks to everyone putting in the enormous effot to keep this site alive!
Good luck all!
Good Job, Thank you Sundance!! <3
Success? (yay!!!)
We’re standing by Sundance!
Vikingmom, I am commenting through my WordPress account . I would think that all the bells and whistles are not up and running yet (reply directly and like button) I think that everything will be back to normal in a few hours.
Test
All working! It’s nice to be able to view source on here and no longer see wordpress.com all over the place. Those buttholes can take a long hike off a short cliff!
Amen
Indeed they do.
It kept showing me as logged into Word Press (which has NEVER worked for me).
As soon as I logged out of WP and entered my info again, I can post! This is my SECOND post ever here!
Armstrong: Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.
Mission Control: Roger, Tranquility. We copy you on the ground. You got a bunch of guys about to turn blue. We’re breathing again. Thanks a lot.

Thanks Booger – that is what I am assuming as well…trying to be patient but just not sure if the problem is simply user error on my part!
Great job we are patient!
Test and Amen
Sundance, we appreciate your prayer requests chain and why you need to keep that. We’re also very grateful that your migration otherwise went so well! Glad to see you here.

Wonderful!!
God Bless You All.
Check out Project Veritas tonight 7pm… releasing taped CNN/ Zucker Zoom calls…
Still logged in to WP, I see
Thank you Sundance. We appreciate you.
good luck all!!
Sundance. Thank you for the years I have attended class in your Treehouse. My State is full of ‘Stiff Necked Badgers’. We are polite until aroused by injustice. Milwaukee, Madison and some other urban Wisconsinites have long taken advantage of our kind disposition. That, I feel, is over.
Good luck all!
The last few days without my friends from Sundance’s Fellowship of the Tree House have felt like I was in serious withdrawal. The day just isn’t the same unless I can stop by here to see what’s really going on in the world and share all that information with everyone.
Thank you Sundance and the Team for doing this monumental work!
If there is ever a time when we needed Sundance and the CTH it is NOW. In just a few weeks it will be the Winter Solstice- the shortest day of the year, when we have the least daylight- a time for reflection on what has been and what is coming. Like they say, it’s always darkest before the dawn.
So much going on the last few days, I can’t wait to see what Sundance’s take is on all of this.
#MAGA
Thank you!

I’m all rabbit ears (ancient TV reference).
Awesome – we’re back in business. Awesome job Sundance and crew!!!
