About the Markey/Kennedy race last night – many people who are registered independent but are strong republicans (like my dad) voted for Markey last night. They will vote for Trump in November

Unlike a lot of Sates MA is an open primary. That means independents can vote for anyone. That changes their party at that point and they have to change it back to Independent. My parents did that for 50+ years. A lot of voters in MA like being Independents.
So Independents in MA are a wild card and can shift primary votes and are hard to track for elections. I wish O’Connor luck, Markley has been around way too long.

He said Facebook removed the video and issued him a warning saying they don’t allow praise or support for ‘dangerous individuals’.
‘In no way did I ‘glorify’ or celebrate him, nor ‘praise’ him. I simply posted a non-graphic video, and stated as a matter of fact what it showed. He helped a protester who was injured and didn’t show up in Kenosha with any malicious intent to cause trouble,’ Dice tweeted.
‘I would be shocked if they didn’t ban me completely by tomorrow for my other posts about the case.’

A committee formed by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a report Tuesday recommending the removal, relocation, or contextualization of the Washington Monument and a number of federal monuments and buildings in Washington,DC.
Bowser formed the District of Columbia Facilities and Commemorative Expressions, or “DC FACES” committee in July, to study assets in D.C. named after individuals to “ensure these individuals reflect contemporary DC values,” according to the report.
The committee was asked to make recommendations if a namesake is “inconsistent with DC values and in some way encouraged the oppression of African Americans and other communities of color or contributed to our long history of systemic racism.”
The report recommended:
Using the Mayor’s position on the National Capital Memorial Advisory Commission, [to] recommend the Federal government remove, relocate, or contextualize the following assets:
1. Christopher Columbus – Columbus Fountain (federal)
2. Benjamin Franklin – Benjamin Franklin Statue (federal)

4. Thomas Jefferson – Jefferson Memorial (federal)

The committee also recommended renaming a number of other assets, including: public schools; residential buildings and campuses; community and recreational centers; parks, fields and playgrounds; government buildings; streets, roads and bridges; landmarks, and commemorative works; and statues and memorials.
“In all instances we believe strongly that all District of Columbia owned public spaces, facilities and commemorative works should only honor
those individuals who exemplified those values such as equity, opportunity and diversity that DC residents hold dear,” it said.
They looked at the costs of renaming, relocating, or contextualizing assets, which in some cases would cost as much as a million dollars or more.
After the report’s release, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) rebuked the committee’s recommendations.

A little off topic but it reminds me of the recent national rush to buy guns and ammo.
I was on a backorder for a couple parts with a popular guns and ammo website and sent an email to them asking a question. After about 7 days (obviously they are swamped), I got this form letter responding to a fairly specific, and likely common question, but not even remotely related to the question I sent. I replied back, and after a few days, got a NEW form response… to another different question, lol.
I gave up. At least they have an excuse. Rubio, not so much

There is no way to accurately nor honestly state any number between 7,000 (direct COVID) and your 76,000. Also, one could argue that the COVID-pneumonia combination you describe is already counted in the 7,000.

I agree with the point of your comment that it is all over stated, and the news while <50% of the 169K is still grim news. I get it. There is a big push from the left to allow foreign doctors to work in the US without completing all of the steps needed to practice here. They are using this COVID BS as an excuse to try and make this happen. Scary thing is, NY and NJ waived requirements for foreign doctors to allow them to practice without completing the US requirements to practice medicine due to COVID19.

It’s bad enough trying to get docs to speak plain English; now we’re asking patients to communicate with those having foreign accents. My parents, my mother-in-law and others have called me in a panic while hospitalized because they didn’t understand what a doctor had told them. This is a great reason to always have a second party attend meetings with medical staff.
In addition to bringing manufacturing back to our shores, increase the number of students allowed to enroll in U.S. medical/nursing schools. Geez. This is not brain surgery.

I see the election as being an rabbit and tortoise affair. According to this person, the government’s FOIA search algorithm searches the HTML (he refers to it as metadata), not the visible data on the page. So, for example, the visible page may include the word “Comey” but the normally invisible HTML has been manipulated to say “Corney.” So a search of the document for “Comey” comes back with no hits.
Presumably, the bureaucrats involved in carrying out FOIA requests could be telling the truth when they claim no responsive documents were found. This could be done without the left hand (FOIA) people knowing that the right hand had forged the underlying HTML.
