The time capsule was unearthed back in 1855 (160 years ago), and replaced. It is set to be re-opened on January 6th, the feast of the Epiphany.

The 10-pound capsule was put under the State House cornerstone in 1795 by then-Gov. Adams, Revere and William Scollay. It was extracted earlier this month while work was being done on the State House, and X-rayed at the Museum Of Fine Arts.
The X-rays showed a collection of silver and copper coins dating back to 1652, an engraved silver plate, a copper medal depicting George Washington, newspapers, the seal of the Commonwealth, cards and a title page from the Massachusetts Colony Records. (read more)
