…. A Christmas wish that cannot be purchased and won’t be identified until May of 2014.
So much of what we are dealing in our daily lives is a direct result of the polar opposite of what is reflected in the birth story of Jesus Christ.
In many ways the birth of Jesus challenged the contract between those who ruled and those who are forced by consequence to live under those rulers.   A leader born to serve people instead of demanding service from people.
Politically speaking, until the birth of Jesus Christ all leaders exhibited their will upon the people beneath them.    The Macedonians, the Babylonians, The Persians, the Romans and the Egyptians et al , all led from a power base of top down construct enforcing the will of Kings and Emperors.   Rules made by Rulers.
The birth of a Leader who would change the never negotiated contract to a concept of  service for His people was so extraordinary it became dangerous to even discuss such considerations.
So too do we find ourselves, albeit millennia removed, engaged in this exact same struggle today.   Nations of people ruled by power systems manipulated and constructed by the few against the will of many. 
The best political Christmas Present could be delivered in May with the successful primary defeat of Kentucky Republican Senator Mitch McConnell.   If conservative Matt Bevin can defeat McConnell the message, in all its forms, would resonate through every mahogany door in Washington DC.

The Senate, a roman construct, created (Augustus 27 BC) to reflect the will of the geography, collapsed with Romulus 476 AD as the empire crumbled under moral decay, social discord, political polarization and fighting.  

The modern U.S. Senate version, originally constructed 1787, was usurped in U.S. history during the 1913 passage of the seventeenth amendment.    It is ironic and interesting that on the centennial of such a historical moment we can trace the decline of a Constitutional Republic to a moment exactly 100 years earlier.

The very concept of political and representative service within the Senate was destroyed as State representation was removed and a short-sighted, individually emotional, popular vote replaced the assignment by state legislature.  That singular change began the corruptive source of the power people like Mitch McConnell have thrived upon and use to their advantage. 

It is only through the popular vote we can now remove McConnell and begin in earnest to rebuild an empowered electorate, reinforce States Rights, and simultaneously demand a less powerful Federal influence.
