PHILADELPHIA – The resident of an assisted living facility in southwest Philadelphia who allegedly castrated another resident in a dispute with a woman Monday night is being held on $5 million bail for attempted murder.

Edgar Bonilla, 41, allegedly cut off the testicles of a paraplegic who also lived at the Inglis Apartments at Elmwood in the 6200 block of Eastwick Avenue, according to the city prosecutor’s office. He also faces aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, theft and criminal trespass for the incident that occurred shortly after 7 p.m. inside the victim’s room.

The victim remains in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He also suffered stab wounds to other parts of his body. (continue reading)
