Several unsettled issues and questions wrt Xi’s as (yet unconfirmed) state visit next week.
Some analysts say Xi didn’t want to make the trip, but the party leadership insisted.
President Trump and the First Lady will be meeting them at the airport, which is highly unusual.
Issues exist wrt how many chinese are to going to be allowed to attend the state dinner.
We’ll see what happens.

Also, and this is just my opinion, the relationship between Trump and Xi is a good one on personal terms. Their previous meeting took on that aspect as Xi invited Trump to an Imperial garden which very few have visited. There is a great meaning in that.
Secretary Bessent never seems to miss a lick. I don’t think he ever stops working.
Interestingly, the brough-haha over invitees to the state dinner reportedly involves the unusually large number of business leaders the chinese want to bring. I would imagine this subject might be discussed in tomorrow’s meeting with vice premier He.
Everyone is seeing this as the lifetime opportunity. President Trump has even stated that he had to turn down requests to many business leaders to attend as it was already crowded.
What that shows though is the demand for interaction between the two countries.

Between this and the UN meeting it’s going to be quite a week to watch.

I am putting up this x.com post by Bret Weinstein because it decidedly should not be about Presidential Politics. So, for the faint of heart, or if you fell particularly partisan, you might not want to indulge.
For the curious, and for the non-partisan, I strongly suggest reading Weinstein’s post on X. More importantly, listen to Bill Gurley’s 38 minute exposition on disasters and the causes, investigations and preventive measures which were advised. His presentation at the All-In Summit is contained in the Weinstein X post, but is also available at The All-In Podcast, on X as well.
His presentation ends with a rip-roaring COV discussion at the 23 minute mark (It is queued to 25 minutes but starts a little earlier). I have followed the COV controversy intensely, and the information concerning the lack of scientific inquiry is quite accurate. As he says, he is not speaking for Science, but rather for scientific inquiry. He also makes quite the distinction between people who block inquiry as opposed to those who search for information. Generally, I think this audience knows an immense amount about searching.
There should be, and should have been, intense inquiry about the origins of COV and its effects on all of us; however, such is lacking. What we have largely seen has been political and probably designed to maintain the powers of ‘those who like that sort of thing’, with apologies to the movie script of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, 1969, based on the novel of the same title by Muriel Spark.
I also urge that private, non-governmental and non-industry, investigations begin immediately. The only political advice I would offer is that the politicians stay out of it.
