I think this shows that popularity doesn’t determine the quality of a product or person, and it enforces that we ought to be living by principles not by preferences.
There are even some, like me, who can not give a like on certain devices. I can on my desktop, but not on this iPad.

Several unsettled issues and questions wrt Xi’s as (yet unconfirmed) state visit next week.
Some analysts say Xi didn’t want to make the trip, but the party leadership insisted.
President Trump and the First Lady will be meeting them at the airport, which is highly unusual.
Issues exist wrt how many chinese are to going to be allowed to attend the state dinner.

Also, and this is just my opinion, the relationship between Trump and Xi is a good one on personal terms. Their previous meeting took on that aspect as Xi invited Trump to an Imperial garden which very few have visited. There is a great meaning in that.

If at all possible, consider home schooling your children and/or grandchildren. Yes, it might require some sacrifices but the dividends will last a lifetime!

I am putting up this x.com post by Bret Weinstein because it decidedly should not be about Presidential Politics. So, for the faint of heart, or if you fell particularly partisan, you might not want to indulge.
For the curious, and for the non-partisan, I strongly suggest reading Weinstein’s post on X. More importantly, listen to Bill Gurley’s 38 minute exposition on disasters and the causes, investigations and preventive measures which were advised. His presentation at the All-In Summit is contained in the Weinstein X post, but is also available at The All-In Podcast, on X as well.
His presentation ends with a rip-roaring COV discussion at the 23 minute mark (It is queued to 25 minutes but starts a little earlier). I have followed the COV controversy intensely, and the information concerning the lack of scientific inquiry is quite accurate. As he says, he is not speaking for Science, but rather for scientific inquiry. He also makes quite the distinction between people who block inquiry as opposed to those who search for information. Generally, I think this audience knows an immense amount about searching.
There should be, and should have been, intense inquiry about the origins of COV and its effects on all of us; however, such is lacking. What we have largely seen has been political and probably designed to maintain the powers of ‘those who like that sort of thing’, with apologies to the movie script of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, 1969, based on the novel of the same title by Muriel Spark.
I also urge that private, non-governmental and non-industry, investigations begin immediately. The only political advice I would offer is that the politicians stay out of it.

Funny that. No amount of ice melting that is already floating on the water will raise water levels. Not any Arctic ice. Nor the ice shelfs floating around Antarctica. BUT, the ice on Greenland and even more so, the ice on Antarctica represent the possibility of raising Sea levels.
That was the initial focus of the fearmongering. Haven’t heard much about that lately.

The Antarctic Ice Sheet is currently experiencing growth, particularly in the Eastern Antarctic Ice Sheet, which has gained ice in recent years.
Greenland gained more ice this year. It gains billions of tons every year.
If Greenland became ice free, how much of Greenland would be remaining? Just asking!
Greenland would remain more or less the same albeit with reduced elevations without a mile thick ice sheet in the interior.
So, wouldn’t that raise the water level just a little bit?
If the majority of it could get out between temperatures being well below freezing in the interior most of the year and geology trapping much of it.
The underlying geology is kind of bowl shaped with a good number of mountains on the coastlines on multiple sides. The glaciers have to have to carve a path through the mountains to get to the ocean.

There are mountain ranges buried underneath the ice glacier. It only melts where the glacier can reach the sea. It reaches the sea because of the pressure of the ice accumulating inland and only in warmer months.
More on that is the more recent media reporting about the increasing calving of those glaciers reaching the sea.
Left unsaid was the buildup of the snowpack inland in recent years contributing to the higher flow rate of the glaciers.
Short of it was there was still a net gain of ice mass in Greenland in spite of the chicken little drama.
