This is his account of what happened in that jury room during the Lindsay Clancy trial.
We appear to have reached the point in our devolution when jury trials will now be decided on the basis of politics, not facts. On the basis of feelings, not testimony. On the basis of social media “likes,” not evidence.
Has anyone ever seen the film “12 Angry Men?” I call your attention to this film only to highlight that it was 12 men in the story who were angry, but who ultimately came around to reason. This is not to say that men are perfect – far from it.
I have seen portions of the interviews with the women jurors in the Clancy case, and I can state with confidence that none of them are capable of even the lowest level of reason. And this is probably the biggest reason that we are where we are as a country today.
If 50% of the population (and yes, there are exceptions) are incapable of even the most basic reasoning ability, then this country cannot survive as long as they have decision-making power. And the evidence of this is everywhere, not just in this one case. We need big changes in our society if it is to survive.
