Feast of St. Mary Magdalene

Today is the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene. On June 10, 2016, the liturgical celebration honoring St. Mary Magdalene was raised from a memorial to a feast, commemorating the “Apostle to the Apostles” with a liturgical feast, the same celebration as most of the apostles (except for Peter and Paul).
 
“On the one hand, she has the honour of being the prima testis to the resurrection of the Lord, the first to see the empty tomb and the first to hear the truth of His resurrection. Christ has a special consideration and mercy for this woman, who shows her love for Him, looking for Him in the garden with anguish and suffering, with lacrimas humilitatis, as St. Anselm says. In this sense, I would like to show the difference between the two women present in the garden of Paradise, and in the garden of the Resurrection. The first disseminates death where there was life, and the second proclaims Life from a tomb, the place of death. … Likewise, it is in the garden of resurrection that the Lord says to Mary Magdalene, Noli me tangere. It is an invitation not only to Mary, but also to all the Church, to enter into an experience of faith that overcomes any materialistic appropriation or human understanding of the divine mystery. It has ecclesial importance! It is a good lesson for every disciple of Jesus: do not seek human securities and worldly honors, but faith in the Living and Risen Christ.
 
“Precisely since she was an eyewitness to the Risen Christ, she was also the first to testify before the apostles. She fulfils the mandate the Risen Christ gives her: ‘go to my brothers and say to them … Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her’. In this way she becomes, as is already known, an evangelist, or rather a messenger who announces the good news of the resurrection of the Lord; or, as Rabano Mauro and St. Thomas Aquinas said, apostolorum apostola [apostle to the apostles], as she announces to the apostles what they in turn will announce to all the world. The Angelic Doctor is right to apply this term to Mary Magdalene: she is the witness to the Risen Christ and announces the message of the resurrection of the Lord, like the other apostles. Therefore it is right that the liturgical celebration of this woman should have the same level of festivity given to the apostles in the General Roman Calendar, and that the special mission of this woman be highlighted, as an example and model to every woman in the Church.” —Archbishop Roche

St. Mary Magdalene
The feast of St. Mary Magdalene is considered one of the most mystical of feasts, and it is said that of all the songs of the saints, that of Mary Magdalene is the sweetest and strongest because her love was so great. That love was praised by Jesus Himself who said that because much was forgiven her, she loved much. Where she is buried, no one knows. Legend has her dying in Provence, France, in a cavern where she spent her last days, and her body resting in the chapel of St. Maximin in the Maritime Alps. Another has her buried in Ephesus where she went with St. John after the Resurrection. This latter view is more likely, and St. Willibald, the English pilgrim to the Holy Land in the eighth century, was shown her tomb there.
 
She was the first recorded witness to the resurrection of Jesus, His most ardent and loving follower. She had stood with Mary at the foot of the Cross on that brutal Good Friday afternoon and had been by the side of Mary during these difficult hours. On Easter morning, she went with the other women to the tomb and it was there, in the garden near the tomb, that Jesus appeared to her. It was she who brought the news of the Resurrection to the Apostles, and Peter and John raced to the tomb to see what had happened.
 
She was from Magadala, a small fishing town on the Sea of Galilee, between Capernaum and Tiberias. She was known to be a “great sinner,” a woman of the streets who heard Jesus speak of the mercy and forgiveness of God and changed her life completely. Her matter-of-fact witness to the Resurrection moved Peter and John to go and see for themselves: “I have seen the Lord and these things he said to me.” Jesus had chosen her to bring the news to them and she simply told them what had happened.
 
She has always been the example of great love and great forgiveness, one of those close to Jesus who grasped the truth of God’s love for human beings and spent her life bearing witness to that love.

Israel Update:
I have accumulated a lot of information and will update you now. It is too much to cover all the areas in one update, so I will take one area at a time. Today I will fully brief you about the Gaza area. In other updates it will be Lebanon, Iran, etc. I think this will help you understand the situation much better.  

Gaza:
~Before 10/7 Gaza was allocated to the Shin Bet, or Shabak, which is the FBI of Israel—not the Mossad.

Shabak had its head appointed by the left-leaning government of Israel that was in power for only 18 months. He was a Deep State appointment and a left-leaning “criminal,” if serious negligence could be called “criminal.”

The Shabak sent a fighting team to the Gaza border area just before 10/7 broke out and did not inform anyone else. This will need an investigation. The Shabak apparently had no agents at all in Gaza and relied only on electronic means. This was complete negligence. They had no idea of the magnitude of the tunnel city under Gaza. The Israeli Deep State, which I started a work to explain it, which holds influence over the legal system, fought hard against replacing the head of Shabak, and eventually we managed to replace him with an IDF hero general who fought like a lion on 10/7.

The replacement took place only this past March, but he has already started to clean house.

Israel’s wars are determined in no small part by intelligence. In the Six-Day War, we had a spy in Syria who was close to the top, and we had the locations of the Syrian bases and what’s in each one before the war started. In the Yom Kippur War, we had a spy from the family of the President of Egypt. He alerted the Mossad, but in Israel it was not taken seriously, and we were “surprised.”

In Lebanon they had some 150,000 missiles recently and posed a real existential threat. Israeli Mossad had it all mapped. In a week or so, about 90% was destroyed. Along with the beeper attack and the assassination of their leadership, their spirit and capabilities were broken at that time. A Mossad victory.

In Iran, Mossad was instrumental in neutralizing their air defenses, both with warriors on the ground and by mapping locations. A lot of the targets that Israel, and now the U.S., are attacking come from Israeli intelligence. The opening strike of the war, in which dozens of military leaders and nuclear scientists were assassinated at the same time, was also, in no small part, an intelligence operation.

Why am I saying this? Because it gives context to the situation in Gaza now.

After 10/7, the Shabak formed a very large unit called NILI (an abbreviation for “The Eternal One of Israel will not lie,” from the Bible, 1 Samuel 15:29). Their job is eliminating everyone who was involved in 10/7, especially those who invaded Israel and those who held hostages.

In the last few months there has been a dramatic change in the intelligence situation in Gaza. There must now be dozens of human assets there. Possibly, when releasing Gazans who were held in Israel for terrorism, some were recruited before being released, along with other means.

Right now NILI is getting them—the Black List—almost daily, including one yesterday, two the day before, and it goes on and on. About 2,565 terrorists who participated in and infiltrated Israel on 10/7 have been eliminated so far. In Israel we get specifics on their names, images, and positions in the terror organizations and their involvement in 10/7. 

On social media we have seen videos of Shabak personnel calling released hostages to tell them that their captors had been eliminated. This helps their rehabilitation process. Some of the captors were very cruel and abusive, without getting into details now.

~While the IDF did not finish the job in Gaza because of the hostages, the deal, etc., it held around 60% of the land and has been moving the “Yellow Line” slowly and quietly. It is now holding about 70%.

In the remaining 30%, Hamas and other terror organizations dominate. The population is still with them. The tunnels are still intact.

In the areas that the IDF controls, most of the tunnels have been demolished. Many of those areas have been flattened. Hamas is now in a hunted situation, where we hear daily about targeted assassinations—not only of participants in 10/7.

The “deal” requires Hamas to disarm in order for the IDF to withdraw. They are trying to manipulate the situation by pretending to be willing to surrender some weapons and make it look like they have complied. Everybody knows they will never comply for real, and sooner or later the IDF will likely get a green light to finish the job.

There are preparations for an Arab peacekeeping force (Moroccans, etc.) to enter. But as long as Hamas remains in control, that force will either be in danger or will collaborate with them. We just hope they will not become a human shield for Hamas. If things escalate, they will likely be ordered to leave.

There are also talks about beginning the rehabilitation of Gaza in IDF-controlled areas by building there and selectively relocating Gazans into those areas—Gazans who are not terrorists, if that is possible. These are part of the plans of the U.S. and the deal, but they are not on the ground yet.

Israel will have to hold its position against manipulative attempts to make it withdraw under a “fake disarmament.”

~I see videos, and there are statistical reports. I posted one video too. About 600 trucks are entering Gaza daily, mainly from Israel. Many of them are loaded with Israeli food, fruits, and vegetables. We are talking about many millions of dollars’ worth of aid over time.

In Israel we see it and cringe. Most of it goes to Hamas, which seizes it and sells it to the Gazans. Hamas is becoming very strong in the areas it controls. It is recruiting, training, and preparing for the time when the IDF tries to complete the job.

This reminds me of the period before 10/7, when the UN and others provided for the Gazans, enabling Hamas to focus on building up its power.

As of now, Hamas is no longer able to fire rockets into Israel or invade because of the Yellow Lines. These are marked with actual yellow-painted concrete blocks, and anyone crossing them is liable to be shot.

~In addition to the more than 2,565 terrorists who invaded and have been eliminated, there are also some 300 terrorists in Israeli prisons awaiting trial. Those who participated in 10/7 may face the death penalty, but this would need to be legislated.

~In Gaza they report 73,231 people killed since 10/7. There are also higher reports, but this is their own Health Ministry number.

Of those, estimates are that 22,000–30,000 are terrorists. They claim 21,000 children, but they count everyone below 18 years old as a child, and many Hamas terrorists are under 18.

When the IDF targets a known terrorist, it does not hold fire if he is with his family. This is a key reason why civilians are killed in such numbers.

The civilian-to-combatant ratio is controversial. In Israel they claim it is 1.4:1. Other sources say 3:1.

In Mosul, Iraq, the ratio was about 2:1 or 3:1.

In the Syrian Civil War it was about 2.4:1.

For comparison, in the Syrian Civil War about 650,000 people were killed. That would make roughly 430,000 civilian deaths.

In the Russia-Ukraine war there have been about half a million deaths on both sides.

In the Second Congo War, about 5.4 million died if you include the humanitarian crisis. About 350,000 died from direct violence.

In Vietnam it is not clear, but estimates range from 400,000 to 2 million civilian deaths.

I can go on, but we claim that the obsession with Gaza is clearly financed and antisemitic when those involved are applying double standards.

~In Israel we have neither forgotten nor forgiven the horrors we witnessed on 10/7 and the support of the population and the society that manufactures terrorists capable of the most unimaginable horrors. They praise them.

In Israel there are efforts to encourage emigration out of Gaza, and the matter has just been turned over to the Mossad, which recently received a new director. I have no numbers on how many have already left, but there is a problem finding countries willing to take them, even if they need medical help.

After a struggle against the Deep State and the legal system, a war hero and a very combative man who is also very brilliant, who was personally the highest-ranking fighter on 10/7 and was himself seriously wounded, has just become the new Mossad Director.

Depending on the results of the upcoming elections, if the right wins, the sentiment in Israel will likely not let go of Gaza until Hamas and terrorism are defeated. The deals involving the U.S. and others are viewed as an impediment to getting this job done, but we are patient.
