Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Emperor of Rome (54-68), commits suicide at 31
Biography: Roman Emperor from 54 to 68, and the last in the Julio-Claudian dynasty. He is infamously known as the Emperor who “fiddled while Rome burned” and as an early persecutor of Christians. His rule is often associated with tyranny and extravagance, and he was known for executing people he perceived as enemies, including his own mother.
His death ended the Julio-Claudian Dynasty, sparking a brief period of civil wars known as the Year of the Four Emperors.

Ordinary Time: June 9th
Tuesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time; Opt. Mem. of St. Ephrem, Deacon and Doctor
The Church celebrates the Optional Memorial of St. Ephrem, Deacon (306-373), called “the Harp of the Holy Spirit.” Ephrem is the great classic Doctor of the Syrian church. As deacon at Edessa, he vigorously combated the heresies of his time, and to do so more effectively wrote poems and hymns about the mysteries of Christ, the Blessed Virgin and the saints. He had a great devotion to Our Lady. He was a commentator on Scripture and a preacher as well as a poet, and has left a considerable number of works, which were translated into other Eastern languages as well as into Greek and Latin. He died in 373. Pope Benedict XV proclaimed him a Doctor of the Church in 1920.
St. Ephrem (also Ephraim)
Ephrem was of Syrian descent and son of a citizen of Nisibis. While yet a young man be betook himself to the holy bishop James, by whom he was baptized, and he soon made such progress in holiness and learning as to be appointed master in the school of Nisibis in Mesopotamia. After the death of the bishop James, Nisibis was captured by the Persians, and Ephrem went to Edessa, where he settled first among the monks in the mountains. Later, to avoid the company of those who flocked to him, he adopted the eremitical life. He was made deacon of the church of Edessa, but refused the priesthood out of humility. He was rich in all virtues and strove to acquire piety and religion by the following of true wisdom. He placed all his hope in God, despised all human and transitory things, and was ever filled with the earnest desire of those which are divine and eternal.
He was led by the Spirit of God to Caesarea in Cappadocia, where he saw Basil, the mouthpiece of the Church, and they obtained benefit from their mutual intercourse. In order to refute the many errors which troubled the Church at that time, and to expound the mysteries of Jesus Christ, he wrote many books in the Syrian tongue, almost all of which have been translated into Greek. St. Jerome bears witness that he attained such fame that his writings were read publicly in the churches after the reading from the Holy Scriptures.
On account of his works, so full of the light of heavenly doctrine, he was greatly honored even during his lifetime as a Doctor of the Church. He composed a poem in praise of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints for which he was called by the Syrians “the Harp of the Holy Ghost.” He was noted for his great and tender devotion towards the immaculate Virgin. He died, rich in merits, at Edessa in Mesopotamia, on the fourteenth of the Kalends of July, in the reign of Valens. Pope Benedict XV, at the instance of many Cardinals of the Holy Roman Church, patriarchs, archbishops, bishops, abbots and religious communities, declared him by a decree of the Sacred Congregation of Rites to be a Doctor of the Universal Church.
On June 9th the Roman Martyrology commemorates
-At Rome, on Mount Caelius, the birthday* of the holy martyrs Primus and Felician, under the emperors Diocletian and Maximian. These glorious martyrs lived long in the service of the Lord, and endured sometimes together, sometimes separately, various cruel torments. They were finally beheaded by Promotus, governor of Nomentum, and thus happily ended their combat.
-At Agen, in France, St. Vincent, deacon and martyr.
-At Antioch, St. Pelagia, virgin and martyr, whose eulogy has been made by St. Ambrose and St. John Chrysostom.
-At Syracuse, the bishop St. Maximian, who is frequently mentioned by pope St. Gregory.
-At Andria, in Terra-di-Bari, St. Richard, first bishop of that city, who is renowned for miracles.
-In Scotland, St. Columba, priest and confessor.
-At Edessa, in Syria, St. Julian, a monk, whose memorable deeds have been related by the deacon St. Ephrem.
Thanks be to God.
*In the language of the Church, Birthday refers to the day on which a Saint enters heaven. However, the Blessed Virgin and St. John the Baptist are exceptions to this rule.

Back in my professional nanny days, my young charges and I made a summer playhouse by planting sunflowers in a square and pea vines to climb up and entwine over the top. It was a fun project and we enjoyed it all summer.
Hope you have a sunflower kind of day.

The Impressionism style seeks not to depict scenes with exact realism but through evoking a mood. This is accomplished through light brush strokes and diligent use of light to create scenes that are absolutely mesmerizing in their beauty. These impressionist paintings include things like beautiful flowers and beaches. With these works, you can effortlessly enhance the mood of just about any space.
Yep, ncbirdy
And my very favorite art style. Though it may look more simple or somehow “easier” than say a meticulous more photographic style painting, it is really quite difficult to achieve such beauty with fewer
brushstrokes and what seems like unorthodox colors. Just awesome!

I didnt read this article. But the headline made me think about the NFL.
I stopped watching the NFL when the anti-American player wouldnt honor the national anthem. And the organization went downhill from there!
People go to concerts and sporting events to escape the stress of daily life, and all that.
The nfl and musicians and hollywood and on and on all are political.
The sad thing is, people continue to put up with it. Who wants to watch a football game while being forced to view their political slogans in the endzones. Or to not see the nat’l anthem televised anymore. Horrible.

Same here, Slow.
Haven’t watched NFL in years for the same reason. My true love in sports has always been baseball. Watching it, playing it, coaching it. No more. Marking the pitcher’s mound with “BLM,” taking a knee, celebrating so called Pride Month with conga lines of drag queens shaking everything in the faces of children, and even changing basic baseball dogma is Enough.
Just an FYI
The Texas Rangers are the only MLB team to reject Pride month celebrations.

Lord, let your face shine on us.
When I call, answer me, O my just God,
you who relieve me when I am in distress;
Have pity on me, and hear my prayer!
Men of rank, how long will you be dull of heart?
Why do you love what is vain and seek after falsehood?
Lord, let your face shine on us.
Know that the Lord does wonders for his faithful one;
the Lord will hear me when I call upon him.
Tremble, and sin not;
reflect, upon your beds, in silence.
Lord, let your face shine on us.
O Lord, let the light of your countenance shine upon us!
You put gladness into my heart,
more than when grain and wine abound.
Lord, let your face shine on us.

Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”

Verse of the Day for Tuesday, June 9, 2026
✟
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Proverbs 4:23 (KJV)
COMMENTARY FOR PROVERBS 4
Exhortation to the study of wisdom. (1-13) Cautions against bad company, Exhortation to faith and holiness. (14-27)
1-13 We must look upon our teachers as our fathers: though instruction carry in it reproof and correction, bid it welcome. Solomon’s parents loved him, therefore taught him. Wise and godly men, in every age of the world, and rank in society, agree that true wisdom consists in obedience, and is united to happiness. Get wisdom, take pains for it. Get the rule over thy corruptions; take more pains to get this than the wealth of this world. An interest in Christ’s salvation is necessary. This wisdom is the one thing needful. A soul without true wisdom and grace is a dead soul. How poor, contemptible, and wretched are those, who, with all their wealth and power, die without getting understanding, without Christ, without hope, and without God! Let us give heed to the sayings of Him who has the words of eternal life. Thus our path will be plain before us: by taking, and keeping fast hold of instruction, we shall avoid being straitened or stumbling.
14-27 The way of evil men may seem pleasant, and the nearest way to compass some end; but it is an evil way, and will end ill; if thou love thy God and thy soul, avoid it. It is not said, Keep at a due distance, but at a great distance; never think you can get far enough from it. The way of the righteous is light; Christ is their Way, and he is the Light. The saints will not be perfect till they reach heaven, but there they shall shine as the sun in his strength. The way of sin is as darkness. The way of the wicked is dark, therefore dangerous; they fall into sin, but know not how to avoid it. They fall into trouble, but never seek to know wherefore God contends with them, nor what will be in the end of it. This is the way we are bid to shun. Attentive hearing the word of God, is a good sign of a work of grace begun in the heart, and a good means of carrying it on. There is in the word of God a proper remedy for all diseases of the soul. Keep thy heart with all diligence. We must set a strict guard upon our souls; keep our hearts from doing hurt, and getting hurt. A good reason is given; because out of it are the issues of life. Above all, we should seek from the Lord Jesus that living water, the sanctifying Spirit, issuing forth unto everlasting life. Thus we shall be enabled to put away a froward mouth and perverse lips; our eyes will be turned from beholding vanity, looking straight forward, and walking by the rule of God’s word, treading in the steps of our Lord and Master. Lord, forgive the past, and enable us to follow thee more closely for the time to come.
Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.

Stop Striving: Finding Peace Under God’s Shield | Psalm 84:11

Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered !!!
WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER

A CONVICTION OF HEART
As you go on your merry selfish way
Seizing the fruits of the flesh each day
Oblivious to the trap you have set
The damnation of your soul you beget
Wrapped up in the world of self desire
The flesh and it pleasures you admire
What the world offers you is all you see
Ego-driven – self-centered – you must be
Where is God in your devilish daily quest
Has He knocked and asked to be your guest
Has He pleaded with you to let Him inside
Why do you cover – your nakedness – hide
If what you are doing is no foul or sin
Why don’t you ever – invite Him – come in
Could it be your temple is dirty, unkempt
Is that why you rebuff His every attempt
Let shame be upon you until the day
When our Lord and Savior will have His say
If you think for one minute you will escape
A conviction of heart – it will take shape
Sooner or later – He will nag you with guilt
Then with the hammer He’ll knock you off kilt
You try to get up – and over you go
What you have broken – you really don’t know
It matters not what is battered or bruised
Nor does it matter that you are confused
Get up you coward and face your fate
Hustle your bustle – and don’t hesitate
Get down on your knees – and humble be
Ask Him to show you – and help you to see
It just might happen He opens your eyes
To your selfishness – deception – and lies
When the world gives fame and a big bankroll
What does man gain if he loses his soul
Is it worth it to gain – possess worldly goods
Or cling to the flesh with all its falsehoods
If you honestly seek first the Kingdom of God
Then all will be added – does that seem too odd
Know what God promised is tested and true
Why would you want what the world offers you
When you leave behind what the world has to give
That is when you will truly – be ready to live
When you die to sin – you make the decision
To end all the strife – lay waste to derision
Repent and relieve all the tension today
Accept Jesus Christ – the Truth, Life, and Way
Believe that your life will change for the good
A Conviction of Heart – just as it should
