Mary Tyler Moore died at the age of 80 and was memorialized around the world as no less than a comedic and feminist icon for her work on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. But she was never recognized for what she really set out to do in show business: dancing and singing. “To this day, beneath the exterior of a successful actor beats the heart of a failed dancer,” she told Entertainment Tonight in 2004. She began her career as the dancing elf Happy Hotpoint in 1950s commercials for home appliance company Hotpoint.
From there, she became an actress and turned out to be a monster comedic and dramatic talent. Despite her seven Emmys, one Tony (for a dramatic role in Whose Life Is It Anyway?), and one Oscar nomination (for Ordinary People), she kept trying to return to her musical roots. Here, look back at some of the best moments from Moore’s musical career — she may not have won awards for it, but she always looked overjoyed to be doing it.

Victor Davis Hanson’s Current Health Status
As of January 25, 2026, Victor Davis Hanson is recovering well following major surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his lung, though he continues to deal with post-operative complications and side effects. The 72-year-old historian, Hoover Institution senior fellow, and conservative commentator underwent the procedure on December 30, 2025, at Stanford Medical Center after a nine-month diagnostic odyssey.
Post-Surgical Complications and Recovery Progress
Hanson experienced a serious arterial bleed of unknown origin in the recovery room immediately after his initial surgery, requiring an emergency second operation. He received multiple blood transfusions and was stabilized thanks to the swift response of the medical team. In a personal update shared via his co-host Jack Fowler and Condoleezza Rice, Hanson acknowledged his luck in surviving the complication.
He is now managing after-effects including fatigue, weakness, anemia, blood loss, and atrial fibrillation (AFIB)—largely due to prolonged anesthesia and the dual procedures. Despite these challenges, he reports he is “recovering well” and remains optimistic about returning to work.
Had a very similar experience during my 06 heart valve replacement surgery. Nurses noticed I was bleeding, notified my surgeons who cracked my chest a 2nd time and corrected the problem. I had no idea just how dangerous that was or just how close I was to not making it. Fortunately, thanks to some seriously good surgical skills, all was well. Didn’t even have any recovery pain afterward.

Gosh, Garrison, that is scary. One of the many surgeries Gus had these last few years was a heart valve replacement. The docs were able to do it through his femoral artery and he woke up in the middle of it. He said he was dreaming of zooming around in a flying car at the time and was disappointed to be interrupted.

The assistant surgeon was an old friend who, although retired, worked with heart surgeon who was famous for his skill in successfully performing very difficult surgeries. As I say, I had no idea that 1-in-4 people didn’t make it. I only found out well after the successful surgery.
Sometimes it is best not to know the odds.
While in the Recovery Room, am guessing it was the astute observations of the Recovery Room nurse…? It wasn’t luck…it was recognizing the impending complication and acting fast.
When ever a patient goes back to OR in an emergency situation…it a well choreographed dance done in high speed.
Praying for a speedy and uneventful recovery.
I was fortunate enough be have a first class surgical team (thanks to my old friend) but—also important as you point out—I was in a absolutely first class hospital. The nurses really knew their stuff.
Garrison, er nurses (and my Viking Warrior Queen Mother) saved my life when i nearly bled to death from my guts from unknown causes in my early 20s. I was broke and poor and struggling with no ins and the hosp tried to shove me out the door. I had bled so much I was blind. My bp was 0/0. I knew if I lost consciousness I would die. ER nurses and my Bad Ass Mother saved me. 10 days in hosp. 7 in ICU. Many blood transfusions. Talk about painful! I’d rather give birth every day for a month!

There was a short moving clip on YT of him in English a few years ago (during PDJT’s First Term) on the Golan Heights with another gentleman, in which they discuss President Trump’s Declaration of Israel’s Sovereignty over the Golan Heights and what Israel will build there and name after “Trump”.

There is a translated video from 5 days ago . He is talking about the Jews in the US. It’s not a good prediction and the translation is too fast so you may have to pause to keep up. But it’s a must for Jewish Americans.

I generally just use a push broom here @ 7,300 ft at least if I get to it before we get 6 inches, still gets difficult to push then.
We did not get the 8ish inches they forecast but we did get the cold overnight 5 degrees F right now heading up to 33 as a high today.
I never got to use a push broom in Indiana, heavy wet snow for my ~40 years of living there, blizzard of 78 was cool tho, blizzard here on x-mas eve in 2014? was not nearly as bad.

Give me the snow or sleet, just anything but freezing rain accumulating on trees and power lines. Not much chance for thawing out until first week of February.

Hey there treepers, I am having trouble staying on Sundance’s website and wondered if anyone else is experiencing the same? After about a minute or two, Norton starts running a test on my phone to tell me I need them to clean my phone. If I hit the back button, it takes me to a Walmart ad. This keeps happening, over and over. I have to log out and in again to refresh Sundance’s page- then in two minutes, it happens again. Is Sundance being hacked or is it my phone? TIA

My folks, living in SOUTHERN Maine lost their power for 2+ weeks.
They were fortunate enough to have a generator – a gift from one of my brothers.
Between that, a couple of fireplaces, they managed.
That generator was life saving, too: they had a well. That pump NEEDED to run!

The freedom of believers from condemnation. (1-9) Their privileges as being the children of God. (10-17) Their hopeful prospects under tribulations. (18-25) Their assistance from the Spirit in prayer. (26,27) Their interest in the love of God. (28-31) Their final triumph, through Christ. (32-39)
32-39 All things whatever, in heaven and earth, are not so great a display of God’s free love, as the gift of his coequal Son to be the atonement on the cross for the sin of man; and all the rest follows upon union with him, and interest in him. All things, all which can be the causes or means of any real good to the faithful Christian. He that has prepared a crown and a kingdom for us, will give us what we need in the way to it. Men may justify themselves, though the accusations are in full force against them; but if God justifies, that answers all. By Christ we are thus secured. By the merit of his death he paid our debt. Yea, rather that is risen again. This is convincing evidence that Divine justice was satisfied. We have such a Friend at the right hand of God; all power is given to him. He is there, making intercession. Believer! does your soul say within you, Oh that he were mine! and oh that I were his; that I could please him and live to him! Then do not toss your spirit and perplex your thoughts in fruitless, endless doubtings, but as you are convinced of ungodliness, believe on Him who justifies the ungodly. You are condemned, yet Christ is dead and risen. Flee to Him as such. God having manifested his love in giving his own Son for us, can we think that any thing should turn aside or do away that love? Troubles neither cause nor show any abatement of his love. Whatever believers may be separated from, enough remains. None can take Christ from the believer: none can take the believer from Him; and that is enough. All other hazards signify nothing. Alas, poor sinners! though you abound with the possessions of this world, what vain things are they! Can you say of any of them, Who shall separate us? You may be removed from pleasant dwellings, and friends, and estates. You may even live to see and seek your parting. At last you must part, for you must die. Then farewell, all this world accounts most valuable. And what hast thou left, poor soul, who hast not Christ, but that which thou wouldest gladly part with, and canst not; the condemning guilt of all thy sins! But the soul that is in Christ, when other things are pulled away, cleaves to Christ, and these separations pain him not. Yea, when death comes, that breaks all other unions, even that of the soul and body, it carries the believer’s soul into the nearest union with its beloved Lord Jesus, and the full enjoyment of him for ever.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Self-Awareness

God intends for us to live a well-rounded life in Christ Jesus, but there are times when that life is attacked from the outside. Then we tend to fall back into self-examination, a habit that we thought was gone.
Self-awareness is the first thing that will upset the completeness of our life in God, and self-awareness continually produces a sense of struggling and turmoil in our lives. Self-awareness is not sin, and it can be produced by nervous emotions or by suddenly being dropped into a totally new set of circumstances.
Yet it is never God’s will that we should be anything less than absolutely complete in Him. Anything that disturbs our rest in Him must be rectified at once, and it is not rectified by being ignored but only by coming to Jesus Christ. If we will come to Him, asking Him to produce Christ-awareness in us, He will always do it, until we fully learn to abide in Him.
Never allow anything that divides or destroys the oneness of your life with Christ to remain in your life without facing it. Beware of allowing the influence of your friends or your circumstances to divide your life. This only serves to sap your strength and slow your spiritual growth.
Beware of anything that can split your oneness with Him, causing you to see yourself as separate from Him. Nothing is as important as staying right spiritually. And the only solution is a very simple one— “Come to Me….” The intellectual, moral, and spiritual depth of our reality as a person is tested and measured by these words.
Yet in every detail of our lives where we are found not to be real, we would rather dispute the findings than come to Jesus.
A FATHER’S LOVE
How many times have you fallen short
And the accuser has taken you to court
To enumerate the times you faulted
To report your failure to God exalted
What would a loving Father say or do
When He lays His eyes on repentant you
He’d welcome you home in a warm embrace
Your sins He’d forgive and quickly erase
The prodigal son is not just a fluke
Notice his father gave him no rebuke
When he returned he was a broken man
In his wisdom his father knew the plan
Had he not learned in his foolishness
What he had done in his stupidness
Was he better off for what he had done
Or was he regretting his quest for fun
We have all been like the child who was lost
We have paid for our foibles a high cost
We might have justified our acts away
Ignored them for a future time or day
Ashamed to ask Our Father to forgive
We kept them hidden maybe to outlive
We may not realize what is kept inside
Prevents us from moving or ever thrive
Our Father’s Love is like no other
To forgive and forget is no bother
His unconditional love to advise
A Father’s Love will aptly apprise
