Wooly mammoth alert for energy traders into final week of January 2026.
Those are not temps but the anomaly. IOW the amount below or above the normal temperature for that time of year at that location/area.
To be expected. Typically the two coldest weeks of the year come between mid January and mid February for most of the Northern Hemisphere.
This is what is known as “seasonal lag”. The northern hemisphere gets the least amount of sunlight during the winter solstice which falls on Dec 21 or 22. But the oceans and land surface continue to cool even as the amount of daylight lengthens with the coldest coming 3-5 weeks after the Solstice.
BTW the two warmest weeks for the Southern Hemisphere corresponds very closely with the two coldest weeks in the northern hemisphere.
