Reporter doesn’t get that, whatever he thinks he sees on video, it’s still not the same as a person who is faced with being imminently run over and killed as he is forced to make a split second decision.

In addition, there was ice and snow on the ground; therefore, if the officer in front of the car had slipped or fallen, he could have been seriously injured or WORSE!
And a crowd of protestors had been harassing them for who knows how long… plus the woman was blocking the agents’ path forward impeding the ICE mission and wasn’t going to obey their command to get out of the car.
If not for the ice, and the SUV’s wheels spinning as she gunned the engine to try to run down the officer, he would probably be dead.

Let’s take the argument that the driver of the car was in fact trying to turn away. If you watch the video she does turn but you also see the officer shoot at almost the same instant. Hard to tell without slomo and time stamps.
So, OK, lets go with she saw the gun and turned away. Doesn’t that mean that the officer saw her coming at him, made the decision he was in danger, and pulled his gun, BEFORE she turned away?
Tony’s desperate constant attempt to find fault is insufferable.

Look at the video that’s just below the words “Here is a zoomed in slowed down version.” That video shows, in slow motion, that she was accelerating toward him before he took out his gun. He shot her in self-defense.

As noted by faithful patriot in another comment, it was icy here. I was out and about on that ice and it wasn’t just icy. It was freeze/thaw cycle glare ice, much of it not even visible, and wet on top. It was extremely slick everywhere, including a layer of hard glaze on snow surfaces.
Note in the first link the officers feet as the situation unfolds. They’re slipping and sliding as this is going on.

There are tons of videos of women who have been stopped by cops for various reasons. They often times do not comply with the orders the cop is giving, they argue, they refuse to cooperate in any way, they also behave as if reality isn’t real and what is happening is not really happening.
So if it shows as JustTheFacts points out, she accelerated BEFORE the officer reached for his gun, then there is a clear reason to call it justifiable. It is truly sad that a mom would put herself in this position, using her vehicle as a weapon to block and impede, then to harm. For what?

Here we have an example of honesty, consistency and professionalism by Tom Homan, but not from CBS that wants to run with a narrative to undermine the work of ICE. CBS are quick to run to judgement but very slow to correct their errors if they one day print a small correction on page 8 of a front page headline.
The woman didn’t respond to orders to vacate her car and was at heightened risk. A bad comment, however, was Homan said it would be unprofessional to comment this early, yet the official response was the woman weaponized her car and tried to kill agents.
That’s exactly the answer everyone that’s uninformed should give.

Openly encouraging criminality. Accusing ICE of performing unlawful actions by enforcing immigration law, and encouraging rioters to resist/thwart federal agents in the lawful performance of their duties, isn’t freedom of speech.
If you or I said what Frey says, or some of these other Democratic Socialist politicians, we would be charged and held accountable. They would say our speech put them in harm’s way and resulted in their deaths; they then would add on a gazillion other “charges” to force you to capitulate and make a deal. Referencing my previous comment regarding the crime channels on YouTube, I’m sometimes in disbelief at the charges applied to people. An interview I find offensive. Its not trying to get to the reason as to why ICE is having to defend themselves or the good they are doing. Its a hit piece and, therefore, not worth the effort to suffer through it. Personally, ICE has shown more restraint in using their weapons than it seems possible. They all need medals and this agent who had to defend himself too.

That being said, I would like to know how long the ICE agent has been in service. My guess is not long. Better training would have made him aware that standing in front of a vehicle with a noncompliant suspect at the wheel is not the best position to be in. It forced his hand.
Homeland Security are pushing thousands of ICE agent through the training center in Brunswick. The training instructors, many of whom are retired agents from ICE and other law enforcement agencies, have a major concerns about the short training cycle and the likelihood that agents and perps alike are going to get killed.
This is not the ICE officer’s fault; seriously.
How about people don’t impede and obstruct ICE? How about they conply?

The streets were slicker than snot. I live here, I was out on the roads, sidewalks and even lawns and it was all extremely slippery, to point that it was nearly impossible to move around in some places. When this woman decided to go kamikaze with the vehicle there was no way the agent could move fast enough. Check out the videos in slow motion and you can see how the people on foot are all sliding around.
DHS is trying to ramp up the number of agents and officers trained in Glynco, GA at FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center).
I went there nearly 20 years ago.
The training is OK – you have a lot to learn, both academically and physically, but anyone who gets through has a good foundation.
However, CBP officers are usually considered on probation for as long as 2 years. It takes awhile before you really have a handle on everything.
New agents and officers are normally mentored to some extent by more experienced LEOs… though with the current accelerated enforcement actions,

Tony Dokoupil is the “new” old face for the legacy media. He is one of the best I’ve seen at manipulating the story. He uses emotional language rather than facts in his dialogue relentlessly. He is a dangerous person. Someone, like him, who loves to make a lie as well as he does is a dangerous character. IMO, those being interviewed need to develop the skills to call out their interviewer when they using these deceptive practices.
I’m a retired federal law enforcement officer (10 years Military Police; 26 years federal law enforcement), and I understand Homan’s insistence that we can’t make definitive conclusions until all of the evidence has been reviewed and the investigation has been completed. But I disagree that it’s improper for him to state that the initial facts appear to support the officer acting within the law and “use of force” regulations that justify using deadly force. The woman was using her vehicle to block or impede ICE agents from performing their lawful duties (which is a crime). She then refused to comply with the officer’s order to exit her vehicle (another crime). She then attempted to evade arrest by accelerating her vehicle quickly forward (another crime). Finally, she accelerated her vehicle directly in the direction of another ICE agent who had positioned himself in front of the vehicle so she couldn’t flee, which placed him in a position of reasonable fear of severe bodily harm or death (another crime, which justified the use of deadly force). The key word here is “reasonable fear” of severe bodily harm or death. A law enforcement officer doesn’t have the luxury of waiting to see if the person is merely trying to evade arrest or to run him over in the split second he has to make that decision. Deadly force is lawfully authorized in such circumstances, and Homan should say so, with the caveat that the investigation is ongoing and the facts will be released to the public at the appropriate time.
If ICE came to collect my neighbors, I would be fine with it.
