FBI Director Kash Patel appears on a podcast with Megyn Kelly to explain how the new and improved FBI caught the January 6, 2021, pipe bomb suspect, Brian Cole Jr.
Director Patel notes the cell phone data was one of a series of evidence trails followed by a new and enhanced FBI detail assigned to the case. Patel cannot explain why the previous FBI investigation did not follow this approach.
Additionally, Patel notes the FBI did not use computer assists to track and trace the purchases of the bomb making materials, but rather used boots on the ground going door to door with retailers to discover the purchases. There is a lot of background information about the case within this interview. Patel notes he has not yet seen Benjamin Crump, but cannot speak about the lawyers as the suspect is cooperating with the DOJ and FBI. WATCH:

The institution’s fallen into deep sepsis. The rank and file need to make up their minds about who they are in the mix of the perniciously malignant culture our modern FBI has become. There are good people trapped in the psychopathy of a deranged bureaucratic institution. The pom-poms are all about building and earning the loyalty of the rightfully and reasonably suspicious. The modern federal employee must swim a profound sepsis of duplicitous and self-dealing leadership, whatever part of the vast bureaucracy they currently inhabit and have endured working to support themselves and their loved ones.
I can only imagine the depth of this sepsis and culture of sabotage and insider dealing that has befallen our federal institutions. Patel, Bondi and other’s might not be the casting department’s choice for the mini series, but they are professionals with the moxie to step into the breach. That alone should deserve our gratitude and patience. How easily we forget what fetid human scum preceded them.
What would you have him do? Not talk about his people he believes did a good job? Would you then complain that the FBI is doing nothing? Maybe he isn’t the most eloquent but he’s trying to rehab the reputation of the organization that he admits he has no idea why the previous team didn’t do things. I saw the interview as very factual about their process and how they get to where they did.
The bit about how they found out about cash purchases by the bomber is telling. They first identify a suspect and then agents must go visit people and businesses asking questions, showing them photos, and using very good investigative techniques in order to verify the perp. Just that could take months.

At 13:00 minutes Kash said “the suspect made bombs that actually worked, they just didn’t go off, thank god”. I never heard him say they were wired incorrectly. He went on to say “it’s not that he made a device and screwed it up and it was never going to go off, thankfully it didn’t go off”.
That was my interpretation. Reasonable, I think. But perhaps he just meant they were never detonated.
Because they weren’t meant to blow up people, but to explode the Peoples’ Right to Govern Themselves through Honest Elections.

I was listening to Robert Barnes on Viva Frei. I am really getting tired of listening to him.
He makes it sound like the case against Cole is week, but he considers the gait case to be spot on. I really thing both cases are week. Barnes should know better, but he is miking this to promote himself.

Maybe you can answer the question MK asked. How did they ever track down cash purchases? There is no other way than what director Patel explained.
Ask anyone who regularly works retail check-out. Customers who pay with cash are extremely rare. They stick out, because everyone else pays by card, which is super easy for the cashier.
Handling cash is a hassle for the check-out person. They’re responsible for making sure they’ve been handed the proper amount of money, and for making sure the customer receives the correct amount of change.
If the same customer comes in a few times, paying with a stack of bills, they will likely be remembered by cashiers. A smart investigator would ask the right people the right questions and gain good info.
