This number is a decent start but not nearly enough. In order to get the number of illegals down to an acceptable number we must make E-Verify mandatory for ALL employers no matter what size, with significant penalties for noncompliance. In addition all aid programs for illegals other than emergency medical treatment must be eliminated. Only then will we solve the problem long term.

Excellent news! Not only the removal of that amount of illegals but also the jobs that are being filled. However, its sad news that these illegals are leaving with our taxpayer dollars both given and stolen. Perhaps, in the long run, it will help them and free us.

For me, this is like President Trump claiming that tariffs have brought in “trillions of dollars so far” while Bessent recently said that number is closer to “300 billion”.

Well, wife & I went to San Diego from Las Vegas to see Mets/Padres games. We saw an “Invader Pickup” truck loaded to the gills with household goods heading SOUTH from San Diego!!!!

Like others here, I wonder what the source is for that 1.6 million number. How are these people being counted? The other side of the equation bears mentioning as well. While illegal immigration is a problem, a far more significant problem is legal immigration (Hart-Cellar Bill).
Good news, but obviously unless more pressure is applied, the ‘voluntary’ will decrease drastically each month until only the millions of hardcore Aztlan Democrat illegal voters will be left.

In comparison to the early 2016 term, I’m not seeing these results out west. Back in spring 2016 I noticed multiple business short-staffed or outright shutting down, “Now Hiring!” signs all over, signing bonuses being advertised etc. heavily across the service industries, some trades/construction and agriculture.

The 1.6 million figure is an estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau’s monthly Current Population Survey (CPS). BUT illegals are now much less likely to say they were born overseas in a survey, because of fear of arrest. So the survey shows less people born overseas.
