The ‘new’ eye drops are actually the ones i was using before (sigh) Doc would put them in for me. When he no longer could do that I ‘attempted’ to do it myself. I gave me a maybe 50 % rating … to hit the eye. So eye doc gave me a ‘single dose’ rx and I was much more likely to hit the eye. Alas, side effects did me in.
So, I’m actually back on drops that I could ‘tolerate’, but …
As they say – practice makes perfect. eye doc says if i get it near and at least on the lid (then blink a lot) i’ll be OK.
and, of course, the answer to the ‘is helping’ question is the tonometer test in the doctor’s office. no ‘at home’ way to gauge eye pressure. In terms of ‘how I feel’ … I think the longer I am away from those single dose drops the better – but it’s a deep hole to climb out of.

Are you able to tilt your head back (even 45° is enough) and pull down gently on your lower eyelid – it makes a little trough to squeeze a drop into. Then steady the hand hoding the bottle using your cheekbone and squeeze. I’ve taught a lot of patients how to administer eye drops – this works pretty well, because you don’t have to see the bottle or drop coming toward your eye.
If this isn’t clear, let me know – I can try explaining it differently or maybe find an illustration. All the best.
oh – you are perfectly clear. And what you describe is exactly what I do – hah – in my imperfect way. As I said, practice makes perfect. sigh – I am FAR from perfect.
I think it is somehow related to how this particular bottle works. It has a chamber that when you hold the bottle at a 45 degree angle and squeeze the chamber fills. Then a drop forms on the tip and I am to keep squeezing until the drop falls. By then my entire ‘prep’ set up has shifted.
with the individual dose admin I just do as you describe, drop hits and I am done.

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Evening Prayer For Future Guidance
Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
Lord, I know that You have scheduled every day of my life. Help me to trust You in all things and rely on You to lead me along the straight path and guide me in the direction that You would have me to go.
Give me patience to wait for Your perfect timing, and may I not trust in my own abilities and scheming, but rather rest in Your love and trust my future into Your hands.
