Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has faced the wrath of the professionally republican. The Bush clan together with Democrats in the Lone Star state tried to take Paxton out of Texas politics with a ridiculous impeachment effort; supported by many Texas politicians including Chip Roy. However, Paxton defeated the impeachment effort and is stronger than ever with the support of the base of the new republican party.
During a Q&A segment, Paxton was asked if he would present a primary challenge to Texas Senator John Cornyn. From his response in the segment below, it would appear that AG Paxton is favorable to doing it. WATCH:
.
Whoever President Trump endorses in that 2026 GOP primary, will be the next Senator from Texas. That reality is a strong point of leverage over Cornyn carried by President Trump for the next 18 months.

Paxton would be great as Senator, but would be very difficult to replace as Texas AG; he has stemmed the tide of the ever encroaching invasion as much as anyone could.
Yes. We need an iron willed gifted attorney maybe two to be able to replace AG Paxton. I watched the entire segments of the gifted Tony Bixby (Sp) defend and then go on the offensive in the most stunning courtroom authentic representation I’ve seen in 20 years. While he may have a personal lie moment at this time. We should be EVER GRATEFUL to Tony because as an attorney I can say he mastered every last fact, detail and code sections, knew the people down to their core, knew where the fraud rested and turned it into a living testimony to the greatness of the Constitution and landed AG Paxton on all fours.
Personal life challenge
We watched those, too! He was truly great!
Paxton is also a treasure for Texas. However, we have been trying to figure out if he could be more valuable in DC in the pit of vipers or here in Texas. Haven’t worked that out yet.
I saw Tony Bixby defend AG Ken Paxton, too, and it was masterful. Better than anything in movies, for sure.
Close, but no cigar; it’s Tony Buzbee and Bill Bixby, Tony’s still walkin/talkin’, Bixby is RIP, probably, confusion is understandable, I never remember if he goes 2 & 2 or 1 & 2.
Wow, that’s QUITE A TESTIMONY COMING FROM YOU, MA’AM! IM IMPRESSED!! And it’s not easy to impress me!
Every great administrator trains a replacement from the beginning of his term. Hopefully, Paxton has done his homework.
I would think that AG Paxton is already tutoring and preparing his replacement.
Actually, I think he will be wasted in the Senate when he REALLY should run for PRESIDENT
Vance is in Thiels pocket and he can VP Paxton or take a break and cash in
I suspects he’s in the process of recruiting a really good guy, and fending off the drunk, odious Phelen as he can.
Good!
Tried to send packing Texas House member Trent Ashby who voted to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Also out-to-lunch Texas State Senator Robert Nichols voted to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Sorry excuses for “public servants”!
Even if Paxton stays out, I cannot imagine Trump ever endorsing Cornyn. He is a poster-boy for the anti-maga movement. Calling him a RINO is much too kind.
People like him are toxic slime in the GOP. Texas can do much better.
The question is, why does Texas (and other states) keep voting these people in.
Leftist voters, cheating, or both.
Low primary turnout.
And no viable opposition. It takes a lot of $$$$ to challenge an Establishment supported incumbent.
He runs unopposed. If we don’t vote for him we get a far-left crazy liberal.
We have to hold our nose.
He needs to be primaried with any MAGA person. I would hope he would then loose.
Although the large liberal cities like Harris County have had compromised elections since 2018
EDIT: *lose
(so we can let him *loose somewhere in Siberia)
The problem that happens in Texas and other states as well is that a great MAGA candidate runs, but the “establishment” muddies the water with one or two other supposedly conservative candidates and splits the primary vote too much. Then Cornyn wins the primary. Then he wins over the democrat.
That’s how it’s done in the case of Lindsey Graham.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT MITCH MCCONNELL DOES EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!
The Greedy Old Possums are corrupt.
In the General Election, Cornyn is always better than the Dem.
The question is how to get someone credible to run against a Cornyn in a primary. That takes $$$$ AND a very good candidate.
Paxton would be great. Hope he has the backing ($$$$) and desire to give it a go.
Texas is fake. A lot of bragging but they let 15M illegals waltz across the border. The cartels run the rural areas.
Asinine statement.
Please! Let’s all write President Trump and tell him we would much prefer he not endorse John Cornyn!!!
How long can he serve as Texas AG?
Has he really been AG since 2014?
Yes, he has been in office since 2014.
The tradition prior to that time was that the governor was thought of as term-limited the same as POTUS. That was until Rick Perry decided to hang on a few more years. There was nothing in the state constitution to bar him from continuing to hold office if he ran for re-election and won.
Might as well stick around. Rick Perry was really the functional governor while George W held the title.
The whole group of top state elected officials were ready to shuffle around. Greg Abbott was the AG at the time. He was ready to run for what would have been the vacant governor’s seat. Ted Cruz was our solicitor general and was going to run for AG.
When Perry announced his run for re-election, the music stopped. Greg Abbott filed for re-election for AG. Ted Cruz was not going to run against his boss. Ted went to a law firm and practiced while turning his sites to the senate when Kay Bailey Hutchison announce her retirement.
When Perry left, Abbott became governor and Ken Paxton left his TX state senate seat to become TX AG. Paxton’s wife now sits in that TX senate seat.
“turning his sights”…. lol (unless you are referring to his internet spaces)
You are correct. I’m not much of a gun person. I’ve always used site v sight in connection acquiring a target.
Thanks for pointing that out to me.
Thank you!!!
I’ve always supported Ken Paxton but I became a major fan after watching his interview last year with Tucker.
He went through a hell of a lot from traitors in his own party but never waivered and came through smelling like a rose!
John Cornyn, like Asa Hutchchinson and Mike Pence, is a ‘listen to what he doesn’t say and when he doesn’t say it’ kind of Republican. I’ll never forget what Cornyn said after being roundly booed by 2nd Amendment supporters because of his traitorous efforts to shove Red Flag laws down their throats. He declared proudly, “I’ve never given in to the mobs and I’m not starting today.”
The “mobs” were Cornyn’s constituents, so it’s obvious what he thinks of the Republican rank and file!
Senator Cornyn must be primaried out of his career and Ken Paxton is just the man to do it!
Cornyn should have been thrown out of office when he crapped all over the Tea Party.
He has only gotten worse since.
Both John Cornyn and Chip Roy are arrogant and dismissive of their constituents! Chip Roy has always been a NEVER TRUMPER!
He told us, after we asked him to support President Trump during his first administration, that he would vote however HE thought best.
It has made us sick to watch him get kudos every time he’s running for reelection or puts out a video that makes him look tough and conservative! CHIP ROY IS A RINO THRU AND THRU!!!
A definite improvement, Cornyn MUST GO….
If we have a strong, conservative government in DC, the need for a common sense, strong AJ in Texas will be lessened. If not, Texas should just secede and we can all move there to make a stand!
Remember the Alamo!!!
Not for him going to the Senate. What is the goal? Senators are toadies.
We need him in Texas to force the administrative state to retreat with him filing lawsuits left and right.
Ken Paxton would not be a toady anywhere! Personally, I see him shaking up and cleaning out that snake pit of a Senate! We really wanted him as Trump’s Attorney General, but, sadly, that didn’t happen.
All Cornyn wants to do is to give billions of dollars more to Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and anywhere else in the world but the United States!
Get rid of him and that other War Pig Lindsay Graham, too!
might? bet on it
My senator Cornyn rubber stamped every overspending bill that hit his desk.
Please primary him.
YES!!!!
Cornyn has a lot of money and a core base of support in Central Texas/San Antonio/Hill Country who have voted for him for decades. I don’t understand it, but there is a large core group of Cornyn voters (who clearly aren’t on this site). Being realistic, Ken Paxton would have an uphill battle to take him on.
I agree with Sundance in this article! If President Trump came out and really supported Ken Paxton for John Cornyn’s seat, I believe he might truly win it!
Please run. Can’t be worse than Cronyn. I do like Paxton.
This will hopefully keep Cornyn on the straigtht and narrow at least until his vote on Trump’s nominations.
I’ll vote for him. Can he enlist someone to run against Chip Roy and “one-eyed McCain” as well? Let’s make it a clean sweep.
Oh, that we could only have more great men like Ken Paxton, men of honor and integrity. We could shake the foundations of hell.
