President Trump has announced the nomination of Teamsters union favorite Lori Chavez-DeRemer for U.S. Labor Secretary. Teamsters President Sean O’Brien backed Chavez-DeRemer for the cabinet position, and the alignment with the blue-collar union base made her a natural fit.
Look for many pro-labor Democrats to support this nomination. Several major unions in Oregon endorsed Chavez-DeRemer’s reelection bid this year, but she lost to Democratic state Rep. Janelle Bynum in one of the most competitive house races in 2024.

Has the posting of multiple positions been to take the news cycle away from the Russia/Ukraine debacle?
No, President Trump authorizing these announcements of his new administration’s appointments were intentionally made to carry the good news of his work throughout the weekend news cycle.
Concerning the “Russia/Ukraine debacle”: The Biden DOS, CIA and other trouble-makers want to start WWIII before President Trump is inaugurated, but everyone, who pays attention knows this (it’s old news) and most likely President Trump and his A-Team are doing what needs to be done, within certain legal limitations, so they are not accused of violating the Logan Act.
BTW: Putin is not a Stupid Man.
Now, let the doom and gloomers come out and promote as much negativity as one can conjure up on a Friday night.
You should have put good news in quotes. These appointments are the opposite of good news.
Perhaps you should give up your personal life and run for POTUS, then We can sit back and criticize your decisions…
The POTUS is chosen by The People to run the Federal Government…
Not to pacify the electorate….
What the increasing amount of ignorance displayed recently on this blog has revealed, is the stunning lack of a basic education in civics that must be addressed.
Now… about that “pearl of great price”…
Trust God. Fear not.
Perhaps you should move to Ukraine or Cuba, where the governments do NOT serve at the will of the people and are a construct by and for the people. There you will find governments where the people have no voice, are not allowed to speak up and voice their concerns and disagreements.
This nation is not such a place as those two countries – or any other nation on the face of the planet. Not only is it the right of the people to speak freely, to voice their concerns, and to lift up their disagreements – but it is their RESPONSIBILITY as citizens to do so. This is NOT a country founded on CULTS, it is not a place where people speak loudly on election day and then retire into obscurity for the remaining 2, 4, or 6 years until the next moment of choosing.
The president is elected to REPRESENT THE PEOPLE, not to ignore them and have them follow like lemmings off the cliff.
I do find it absolutely hilarious – and yet profoundly sad – that after the rot which spilled from your fingers that you discuss the “ignorance being displayed” and the “stunning lack of a basic education on civics.” My own suggestion is that you take a very long look in the mirror, then go back and read the founding documents of our nation and the ruminations of its founders.
Trust God – yes. Fear not – yes. Trust man – no. Be oblivious to the world around you – no. Fail to utilize the ability to reason and discern – no. Think that ANY man is even in the same ballpark as God – absolutely, positively no. Sit back with your thumb in your bum and depend upon others – even it be God – to magically make everything wonderful without any effort or actions on the part of yourself – idiotic.
The notion that the electorate abdicates its right to criticize the selectee on any matter is retarded and evinces a lack of understanding in basic civics, attempting to separate The People from the electorate.
Seems the good news is that Putin showed the idiots that they weren’t playing with a third world country and better stop with the war mongering.
Sundance for the first time ever I dread looking at this site.
Yes you are right about the deep state dreadful picks – one after another.
But what used to be a joyful part of my day now is not.
Damn man – I have idolized you and your insights – why did I stop enjoying this site?
I’m in the mood to celebrate and it’s just one depressing thread after another.
The Bondi pick is devastating , knowing that whatever case is brought forward will never succeed due to her past of corruption and attempting to frame an innocent man .
The way to stop that is to get in front of it. A mea culpa would cut it off at the knees. Of course it may also disqualify her.
Sundance has correctly swung into high gear on the Bondi nomination – he’s working hard in his area of expertise so Trump doesn’t get blind sided again. I’m sure he’s right that President Trump probably doesn’t know her background.
He’s right over the target with the attack vectors Mrs. Bondi is exposed to. She’ll go along thinking she’s MAGA till they threaten her in her compromised position, then she’ll immediately do whatever they want, looking out for herself only before she’s done one bit of good- she won’t fight – leaving all the good people like Rudi Giuliani that have been abused for the last four years still out in the wilderness being persecuted by a corrupt department of injustice.
The effectiveness of the Administration all boils down to the AG, IT’S THE TEETH OF THE ADMINISTRAION. Why do you think we haven’t had a strong AG in forty years since Edwin Meese.
The Bondi nomination should be withdrawn ASAP.
Yes, PDJT learned NOTHING about the importance of the A.G. in his first term, and didn’t have a deep dive background check done on any of his nominees, because he is a Very Special kind of Idiot.
Pull my other leg, so I don’t walk in circles, o.k.
I see the logic of what PDJT did, with his nominees, (and theres a hint, look at the PACKAGE) at DOJ, and anticipate he may use a similar strategy when he gets around to FBI,…what Bondi did to zimmerman was reprehensible, it was politically motivated, she was NOT alone, and it was 12 years ago.
I have no problem with Bondi, or Loeffler, and suggest those who do wait and see how this all plays out.
And while your at it, ask yourself why Matt Gaetz is smiling.
Good post. I’m a perpetual Doomer. But the amount of doom and gloom here dwarfs everything. People need to chill. After 25 years as a lawyer (and I’ll bet the Magistrate will back me up) the AG is a political position and a ‘pretty face’ 95% of the time. The actual work gets done at the #2, 3, and 4 spots. This is true no matter the govt level, county, state Federal
Bondi wouldn’t be my choice. And so there are some things in her past that I’m betting she regrets. There is not a person on this site who can’t say the same without lying.
People need to lighten up and enjoy the show.
I am in awe of your last paragraph. Someone give this guy a mike to drop!
Me… not so much, but he did manage to hit every cliche meme.
I’m neutral on most of what you said but that last paragraph is fantastic!
Oscar for most bigoted insults in one sentence.
Merrick Garland a “pretty face”???
Agree, and he can fire any of these people if they do not perform. He has the authority to do so and is not afraid to do it. We “hired” him to do a job, let him do it. Its not his first rodeo.
…and yet in some cases he continues to fall prey to his own weaknesses and thus repeats the same mistakes of his first term in his personnel choices.
What some of you fail to understand is that the window of time is exceedingly small and there is a vast amount of work to be done. There isn’t time to go through the endless wash, rinse, repeat cycle in cabinet appointments – not even once. At best it delays and obstructs, at worst it can derail the entire task at hand and end up much like his first presidential rodeo.
Great post, Dutchman, Does “let’s see what happens” ring true here? I’m not a 4D chess player, (I get beat regularly at 1D) but PDT did put in a pretty awesome #2 and #3 at DOJ; and the Man with “all the power” is not going to let the department that caused all that grief to him and We The People to escape “reciprocity”…Just sayin’..
Out….
Agree with you 100%. We need a exceptionally strong AG and this isn’t it.
With Mitch already mouthing off about Trumps picks,Trump has to get these nominees past the senate fast.not to be dragged out 6 months.all can be changed later if they don’t work out.
I couldn’t be more DISGUSTED at the Senate for putting that corpse in a position to obstruct the President who fought through hell, and us with him, to turn this country back to sanity.
The turtle has purple lips, I saw a photo of his hands, they’re purple too, and he freezes like a statue while standing at a podium. Think what he’s like behind the scenes! And yet those slimy bastards in the Senate are propping him up so they can maintain their little kingdoms at our expense.
Don’t you have anything else to say? FYI. She will not be the one in court. Someone else will do the hard work. She will handle Congress and PR. Even if she goes to court, what you say will never happen. Go back to your safe spot.
Tell that to Mr. Zimmerman if you can get a message to him where he’s hiding in fear for his life…
You stopped enjoying this site because you chose to stop enjoying this site.
Fin
Sometimes it helps to avoid the comments. If Sundance doesn’t have much to say on a subject, there is probably not much to say.
…and sometimes people miss the meaning of the comments he makes.
Thank you for your sobering and truthful assessment. I spend much less time here than I have previously, because it is becoming so fatalisticly depressing. By the accounting of many here it seems that in a matter of a few short weeks Donald Trump has gone from ‘our savior’ to ‘chief chump and buffoon.’ He is neither, but you wouldn’t know it by many of the loud shrieks. If I really want that I can still get it at MSNBC. People, we need to take a breath, get out of the basement and enjoy the sunshine.
Deep breaths. You’re describing one of the symptoms when folks are confronted by an unwanted honesty. You’re not alone, by any stretch.:)
It seems obvious to me that the President is announcing these picks NOW to get a leg up on everything and hit the ground running on the day of his inauguration. He only has 4 years to accomplish a massive task. He needs these people rolling on day one…..
Potentially just 2 years…and when one takes the election cycle distractions into account, possibly just 18 months.
well, he took out ISIS in a couple of weeks, so there’s that LOL 😀
Oh please. Of course not.
Trust the team
If they do not perform:
“YOUR FIRED!”
And if he fires anybody who the deep state likes, then he will definitely be impeached this time for the third time. That’s why he needs to make appointments that are great and he does not have to fire anybody.
If the Trump haters want to impeach, they will impeach and just fabricate the charges, as previously done over and over and over again……..
There is no way he will be able to fire the AG for example without arousing the old conflict-of-interest canards. Bondi is the highest order of bullet-proof, a scary thought.
Personnel is destiny & legacy.
Still reeling over Gaetz. And now Bessent for Treasury? Losing my buzz.
I thought the new Supreme Court legal finding about his power as Chief Executive did away with most of that concern?
It did and does, but some want to pretend its 2016.
Si, senor… you are right!
agree.
If Republicans stay in control of the House, he won’t be impeached.
The SC “Immunity” decision will make impeachment very difficult when it comes to personnel decisions this time….He has the Constitutional authority to run his executive departments the way he sees fit… Besides, Weismann, et al are going to be busy defending themselves….
Weisman..etal just breathed a huge sigh of relief…………..they ain’t go’n nowhere.
To take back the country it’s absolutely imperative to disable the public employee unions as they are under the complete control of the leftists.
Look at the way they stonewalled Trump during his last term.
This isn’t going to do it.
Yes! It is nearly impossible to fire government employees because of them.
Check out Elon’s and Vivek’s Wall Street Journal op-ed
https://www.wsj.com/opinion/musk-and-ramaswamy-the-doge-plan-to-reform-government-supreme-court-guidance-end-executive-power-grab-fa51c020
She was against right to work laws.
She is an enemy of the gig economy too. This is another horrendous pick.
just read that last night~~ Was doing a deep dive research on her so I could figure it out. Man, oh man
Crap appointment
You can sure say that again, Wristburn!
After millions of freelancers voted for President Trump believing he’d save their right to work… his choice of Lori Chavez-DeRemer for U.S. Labor Secretary just kicked them in the gut!
If President Trump’s taking advice for these kinds of picks, time to tell him or her… ”You’re fired!”
OMG, my head is exploding at this point! She voted for the PRO Act for heavens sake! Randi Weingarten luuuvs her and Sean O’Brien egged Trump on to nominate her 🤷♀️ oh yeah, that’s MAGA – NOT! The American Federation of Govt Employees endorsed her, too so I’m sure she’s all in on draining the Swamp.
Is this Susie Wiles or Don Jr, I mean who is giving him this horrible advice? I’ve pretty much lost hope in this administration.
I suppose the optimistic outlook on this is continuing to build the ranks in the everyday working class…including union members. We need to grow the House majority in 2026. Or… you can take your doom and gloom approach….and cede ground back to Democrats…. For me…I’ll stick with the boss and what he wants, regardless of who is advising him.
I think PDJT probably is suffering from the same disease that Ice Cream Joe has old man disease.
Yes, after running the most incredible campaign anyone has ever seen…overcoming everything that has been thrown at him , defeating the media, the lawfare and being shot in the head…he’s and old man whose lost his marbles, just like Joe. 🥴😂🤣😂
Good name for you. Wish there was a dislike button. You are beyond ridiculous.
Poison, Trump didn’t make her his boss. He made her his employee. If she fights the MAGA Agenda, he can fire her, but knowing Trump, he has a plan to switch union $ and votes to the R’s while also finding a compromise with non-union workers. Maybe he plans to take away protections from federal workers and needs to keep the rest of the union universe from coming to their defense. I’m going to trust his informed choices before my own uninformed ones.
the thing is are they NOT looking at their “record of previous votes” and their previous time in office. This woman is another smdh moment
Susie Wiles is definitely a sabateuer
You don’t know that…
She worked to get him elected so she could sabotage him??? LOL
Good advice. I’m sure the view from Trump’s position at the center of the huddle is better than those in Row 68, End Zone – or on the couch in the living room.
Sad to say, but in politics and in business, one must communicate and work with those who are in complete opposition to another’s motives or objectives.
That’s just the way it is in life……
Bemoaning, belittling, whining and groaning about “his picks” is not realistic or helpful to the MAGA philosophy.
Very well said !!!!
Trump is a realist.
No is being a meek sheep or blind cultist.
Trump started his political career by walking into the lions den of people who thought he was a joke and totally opposed to and dismissive of him. Now look what is happening – he has converted a huge segment of the population and is leading significant change. So who thinks that he won’t continue to persuade those in his orbit to see things his way? The energy and momentum will likely continue to convert those who had a different mindset. I don’t assume it will all be perfect – that’s impossible.
My worry isn’t so much cabinet picks at this point, although there are some I wish he hadn’t picked, it’s the Senate and the rotten RINOS who are the deep state’s last line of defense.
No it’s a play to move union money from dems to repubs.
Trump has majority support among the members of the building trade unions, Teamsters, UAW, Police and Firefighters. these are the folks who build and maintain infrastructure, transport goods, build cars, jets and protect the public.
The leadership knows it and so does Trump. Now it’s time for the million$ those unions take out of members pay checks go to repubs instead of democrats.
she is a leftist who lost to the better leftist. That seems to be what I found out in looking her over last night
Terrible choice. All you need for evidence is that AFT President Randi Weingarten is cheering for her and thinks she’s a great pick. Republicans need to collectively say, “NO WAY.”
35 years the Philadelphia building trades.
Trump had 75% support from the rank and file across all trade unions in the city according to union leaders. I thought it was closer to 80% based on the number of Trump stickers on hard hats, lunch boxes and tool boxes. But 75% is reasonably accurate.
Contrary to popular belief. Those of us construction trade union members who have no job security or protection, no paid days off and the employer is free to lay you off or fire for no reason at all. We don’t vote for the democrats our leadership endorses.
Same from N. Calif. 40- years trades member and Trump has a hell of a lot of support from the crafts.
40 years in south Florida building trades, and I agree with you, Tom and Ron. Unfortunately, the internationals’ leaders follow the AFL-CIO endorsements, but most of the rank and file local members, especially the young ones are MAGA all the way since our man rode that escalator down in 2015!
Another department we don’t need, since all 50 states have departments of labor that over-regulate perfectly well on their own.
I don’t see how a PRO Act co-sponsor squares with a freedom agenda.
I have a suspicion that Howard Ludnick has a hand in the appointments that we’re holding our heads in our hands over.
Oh, and just a reminder……It was the Kennedys that originally gave the public employees the right to unionize.
I agree with you Larson that it is Ludnick.
The quickest fix with gov. employees would be to decertify all the gov. unions. Calif. state employees have ruined our great state.
Trump can bypass all the cabinet departments for policy if he wants to. Its been done before. Everything run by the White House. Think Haldeman and Ehrlichman. Think Alexander Haig, or Dick Cheney.
Vance, Musk and Ramaswamy can be them.
Yeah, and that worked out SO WELL for Nixon, lol.
Trump has the blue collar touch.
Are you serious? Lori Chavez-Deremer is against right to work laws and the gig economy. She voted for the PRO Act. This is the creature Trump picked for Sec/Labor. How do reconcile this horrid choice with Trump having the blue collar touch.
This choice speaks to the rank and file union members who voted for Trump. It helps consolidate that vote toward Republicans in the future.
I think you have to trust Trump on this one if you don’t understand the dynamic.
I don’t trust Trump on this one or Bessent or Bondi or Rubio. I know when I’m being played and I refuse to play the trust me game again.
ok.
It’s likely many find your judgement as it pertains to President Trump “ suspect”
I agree with this comment 100%.
Go back to your basement and see who misses you in the game.
You might be on to something there. The libs are ripe to lose many union members with their elitist policies. The car industry was all set to crush 125,000 ICE auto manufacturing jobs in favor of Chinese EVs. Importing cheap labor across the spectrum and H1bs to add insult to injury. The rank and file Americanshave been screwed horribly by their political leaders.
Right to works laws have led to lower wages, lower benefits and increased workplace accidents and fatalities.
The “gig economy” is a scam to make corporations rich by shifting costs and tax burdens to employees.
The Pro Act was a mixed bag of good and bad. It wouldn’t stop a non union shop from competing with a union shop. Workers can organize a union but until the shop signs a contract with the union they are free to fire those workers and hire new ones. Workers voting for a union does not bind the employer to the provisions of the pro act.
I’ve been a misclassified part time “independent contractor” in the “gig economy” for 10 years. The job is very dangerous, sometimes below minimum wage, I have to buy my own disability insurance and I can be personally liable in the event of an accident. So be nice to those guys who shoot your local 4th of July fireworks show.
Yes, people don’t understand that decent health insurance at a reasonable , low cost to a working man or woman and a decent wage for the hourly worker can keep families self sufficient and afloat. Many union jobs offer these benefits and it is not insignificant.
I may not agree with the politics of the union leaders but there are clear benefits for the worker. That is just the reality.
President Trump is going to bring manufacturing jobs back to this country. Many of those are union jobs and it will certainly help the rust belt and other regions, which have suffered with the export of jobs abroad.
The Auto Industry is big, but there are others.
Even furniture making in North Carolina or the pharmaceutical Industry, perhaps in Puerto Rico instead of China.
The labor to do this work is here in this country and we want American citizens to get those jobs and a living wage. Don’t we?
You think it is a misunderstanding – when more often than not it isn’t, but instead a VERY clear understanding.
No union can prevent the destruction of health insurance and lack of quality care that resulted from OboCare. No union “boss” or committee should be living high on the hog while the members barely eek out a living.
There are just as many, if not more, negatives to a union as there are positives. One such negative includes being a very significant cog in driving AWAY jobs from our nation in some industries and into the arms of overseas facilities (note – they also had absolutely nothing to do with it in many other cases, so don’t prop up that strawman). Nor can unions prevent such actions, nor should they be able to.
Have seen first hand the destruction and inefficiencies that can – and often are – wrought by unions. Have also seen some of the positive things, such as increased safety when a company is inept or uncaring in that regard.
I would never wish to preclude the ability of people to join unions VOLUNTARILY if that is what they wish to do. On the other hand, I would also never allow one to try to tell me I can’t work where I wish, for who I wish, without being part of their group either – nor tell me what I can and can’t do at work because it is “the job of someone from another union group.”
I agree on the pros and cons as well. Union leaders usually become as corrupt as anyone in Industry. Forced entry into a union, initiation fee and dues should not be mandated, but a good job with benefits is not necessarily top of the list for CEO’s for workers in corporate America.
The support Obamacare got from the unions was also a big mistake for workers and actually hurt union members who for the most part had hard won and excellent benefit deals before then.
Unions can and sometimes do negotiate with the interests of industry to keep the golden goose afloat and profitable, if they are smart.
I just don’t know a way to keep working people out of poverty, the working poor, without some representation.
I think some businesses do right by their employees. It is not black or white.
Donald Trump built his business with blue collar workers. he was a boss. He gets it.
I very much appreciate your measured and honest response.
There are ways to accomplish the positives without the negatives – but the first step is eliminating the double allure of power and money associated with the representation, which almost always leads to the wrong type of people and the negative actions that result thereof.
One way is a method I’ve been actively involved with in my current profession for years – that of leadership without formal organization or any monetary compensation. It requires those who are both leaders and important cogs to a company to band together and stand up for their fellow employees, without regard to ladder rungs or jobs, in ways both big and small – from amiable discussions with directors and VPs, to throwing their weight behind needed reforms or improvements (be it compensatory or workplace related), to be willing even to using outright public shaming of management at the risk of their own jobs and career within the company, and a willingness to sacrifice self for others. Such actions are grounded in compassion and caring for ones fellow human beings – not as a result of money, fame, or power.
I was raised to understand that the best of things we do for others should be private and unknown to any but our Lord and Savior and the smallest few necessary to accomplish the task – often anonymous to even those being helped.
This is the way that immense good of all kinds can come into being, with prayer and God’s help. It is the way from throughout the ages. It begins with driving out the darkness which permeates our nation and her people and returning to the principles upon which our nation was founded. It starts within each of us, grounded in faith and fueled by determination and oft steely resolve. It always has been.
Yes, well said Harrison.
There are companies that do right by their employees without need for union organization. It does require a willingness to create a strong and loyal work force by treating labor with respect.
The worker can then take pride in the company and their own skills, when they get paid well enough to support their families with their labor.
she is literally the WORST person he could have picked
I will say this and say it once … he’s got Ivanka and Jared in his ear ……..he’s going back to his roots. These picks are just about everyone against MAGA and MAHA …
If she starts running Labor as if she is free to implement HER policies…
It’ll be “Uh, Lori, we need to talk.” Same for the rest of them….
Bills are being paid off for support during the campaign. We now know what O’Brien got.
What about the masses who voted for Trump? Where is our payoff? Is it only the big boys who get paid off? Yeah, I’m guilty of being suspect of President Trump’s picks again.
It should be remembered…
Unlike Elected Officials, each of these appointments to the Executive branch
(members of the cabinet and White House Staff) by the President serve at the pleasure of the President.
It means that they are chosen for their jobs by the President, to carry out the Presidents policies, and the moment the President no longer wants them in their job (for any reason) the President can remove them (Official act).
Thank you, greatly, for that reminder, to get everyone back on the branch!
but why install people who will work against you right from the start. He can’t keep his eye on everyone he puts in. This is how you get a runaway government. Anyone NOT MAGA should be nowhere near the top spot .. period. That is what this fight was about …changing Washington. The “change” agent is becoming a leftist agent.
Just saw Trump’s pick for Surgeon General, a major supporter of the COVID vaccine and lockdowns. I can’t believe what I am seeing with this cabinet. It is almost like Trump IS the Manchurian candidate. Where is Dr. Carson and Ric Grendel? This is not going to be a MAGA administration.
She’s actually NOT a supporter of lockdowns. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/i-treated-20000-covid-patients-3-years-lockdown-heres-we-better
”Seems just like yesterday. Three years ago, March 2020, our nation was locked down for the first time in over a century.
A horrific move that upended our nation, impacted the education of our youth, crushed our thriving economy and ignited the fire of a mental health crisis along with increased substance abuse, violence and drug overdoses. “
.
Imma just gonna leave this here:
Or in 2022…
Then there is the FDA choice…
I’m not upset over this nomination.
In 2022, Lori Chavez-Deremer flipped her district from blue to red. In doing so, she blocked a pathologically progressive Democrat from entering congress.
That district looks pretty tough. It includes a sliver of Mulnomah County (Portland, Oregon) which alone can account for her loss this time around. Other parts of her district are red and purple.
She has had a bit of my attention because a church that offers an excellent Through The Bible teaching every Wednesday evening is in her district. It is a fairly large congregation and the pastor has conservative political leanings (in line with the Bible).
In a politically diverse district such as the one she has represented in the 118th congress, there is no constructive way to represent the people except by emphasizing a willingness to operate in a bipartisan manner.
A couple of years as the Sec’y of Labor should help to keep her politically relevant in case she wants to run to try to take back that congressional seat for the red team in 2026. She barely lost this time around. Think of her as an outpost on the western front.
At the same time, this helps with Trump’s creds with people who actually work for a living.
PDJT could have done worse.
We need union members to support MAGA !
Here is one in Redding Calif. LOL
We are out here even in the land of leftists.
Massive numbers of new immigrants have always been used to lower wages of Americans, and to destroy the Unions. … All the American Workers know this basic fact of supply and demand. … The big companies and other employers know this fact too; they support the politics of massive immigration. … Many well-paying union jobs have disappeared here in America, and reappeared in other countries. … Increasing numbers of Americans have become dependent on government checks. The National Debt increases each year.
Most of the strong unions now days are the >civil servant unions for the government employees. … The American Taxpayers are the ‘public >servants’ now days, serving the politicians and government employees. … A government job is basically a funnel for transferring taxpayer dollars from the ‘civil servant’ employees to politicians. = The politicians appreciate the donations and reciprocate with ‘gravy train’ salaries, benefits, and retirement accounts.
Tariffs on foreign made products are good for ‘workers’ in America. … TheConservativeTreehouse often writes about the ‘Main Street’ economy and the ‘Wall Street’ economy, and how the two different economies affect Americans.
We will wait and see what some of these eminently stupid appointees or nominations end up accomplishing. This is a marathon and not sprint so we should look to 2026 and beyond to bring a solid MAGA bench and promote true MAGA to the top of the ticket and watch how they perform. From the looks of it the Trump inner circle responsible for these picks is utterly devoid of any political intelligence or a plan. There is no other way to look at these appointees. We have vowed to not pretend and we continue to not pretend and call it like it is- Trump or not.
Agreed
Let’s “wait” and see
This is interesting. She got redistricted from small town rural to some of that + part of Deschutes county to include Bend which has gone completely blue. Which is why she lost. Seemed strategic to me.
I hope she does well but we will see. Oregon continues to strive to make itself
more Democrat even east of the Cascades (traditionally red) which is discouraging. Deschutes Co. was red 4 years ago on the electoral map. Lots of Portlandia moved over here during the pandemic. I’m hoping to move out within the next 3 years.
The Bay Area “discovered” Bend about 15 years ago and the communists have been infiltrating ever since.
That is very true. I lived in Bend for the first 2.5 years here in Central Oregon. I forgot to mention the New Californians. They have literally taken over the place. Old timers are a minority now and they are sad and upset. I can’t blame them. I live in the county north now where I could afford to buy a house. It’s a red county. I pray we stay that way.
I am going to have to step away for a while. My hubs has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig disease, and suddenly, politics mean nothing much. I love yall, will check in occasionally, will pray much, and know that I will miss yall. God has us on a path not of our own making or choosing, and it will be hard.
Cherp, I am lifting you and your husband up in prayer. May the Lord surround y’all in His arms as you walk through this valley.
All I can see is to hope that between Elon/Vivek/Rand Paul/Russ vought this woman’s running of an important agency will be nullified. Labor is another overly bloated agency that overwhelms especially small employers.
They can’t produce remotely accurate statistics for jobs, unemployment. BLS is a department within Labor. Useless. then there’s the Census department which has so many employees they have time to call employers multiple times to harass for completing census reports which will overwhelm a small employer – they enjoy telling you this is required by LAW! F’em. I stopped completing the census surveys 10 years ago once I realized how many there were. There’s 14 surveys yearly times each location within a company. For my company that’s 98 census surveys each year.
I used to provide monthly stats for BLS until I saw or realized they are just a commie dem political gaslighting agency. The company I work for is a small business except that we’re a temporary staffing company so we are treated as an employer with over 1000 employees.
We are not sure she actually lost; lots of shenanigans and unexpected losses down ballot.
Terrible pick, where in hell did trump get her name from? That person needs to fired….I don’t give a dam who she is or who in hell she thinks she is, she is a cancer to trump and a stab in the back b—h.

I’d like to take a quick minute and remind everyone about what SD has stated in the past about “concern trolls.” Right now the MSM and the “concern trolls” are in high gear to dishearten the MAGA movement and make us doubt ourselves w.r.t. voting for POTUS Trump. They want to fracture the unity and hope that we felt the morning after the election. They abound even on this sight.
Recognize it for what it is and go around it. It is no accident that posts about the new AG pick are on every thread about every other nomination. Someone posted that the joy of coming to the treehouse to read was gone. If true, it’s by design. If not, that is the goal.
TPTB know and recognize this sight and have tried their best to shut it down. Since they’ve not succeeded there, they are working to lower the readership and therefore the influence this sight has.
As SD has encouraged us so many times, live your best life starting now. And in the immortal words of the great poets,
“You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.”
Happy Thanksgiving to all bona fide Treepers.
ha ha dem senators are going to have to vote no, but then they go on record as revealing their true selves, but if they vote yes then they aren’t resisting the Orange Bad Man hahahahahaha
First breathe
As I run through the coments I see legitimate concerns and I see concern trolls.
Take a step back and understand cabinet posts sit at the pleasure of the president. Some are influential in policy. Some are as significant as the ambassador to Ghana.
If trump is not served well he can release without comment anyone. Serve a day and piss him off and he tosses in a temporary from anyone previously senate approved.
The more interesting list for me will be the list of ambassadors (including the one to ghana). That will be his pool of temporary replacements.
Matt Whittaker has been nominated to ambassador to NATO. I will be watching to see who else goes on the traditionally non controversial lists.
There is wheeling and dealing going on and we are not privy to it. We can rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic all day but their is an iceberg ahead and things are going to get serious.
No more handwringing or second guessing. Cowboy up and get ready to fight Trump will need us all behind him.
The end goal is a constitutional republic anything less is a fail so time to stop the whining.
Shipwreckedcrew- a former DOJ prosecuting attorney and current J6 attorney – explains the Labor pick perfectly.

“Pres. Elect Trump has simply made good on the relationship he formed with organized labor by his choice of Labor Secretary.
“That includes both the Teamsters and Teachers unions.
“This is part of the MAGA coalition he built.
“You can’t be a party of the “working man” without including organized labor under the tent.
“Two things need to be accomplished over time — the organized labor policies that hurt economic growth need to be wrung out of labor unions, and socialist/Marxist tendencies of union leaders need to be suppressed.
“But bringing manufacturing back into the US and building up the domestic labor force is going as part of a political strategy for populist party, is going to require making “Big Labor” an ally and not a foe.”

Not happy with this selection. Whether it’s a blatant quid pro quo or not, the person nominated seems to support some positions that are in direct opposition with people in many working-class states who embraced – through the electoral process – right to work laws.
