One of my SF buddies at Bad Tolz had an English Bulldog that he got from a top breeder in the UK. He had to have a in person interview with the breeder to qualify to buy the animal!
One day, returning from the field he came home to his quarters and dropped his still packed rucksack in the middle of the living room floor as he stripped down heading for the shower.
Still in the bathroom he hear a tremendous boom! Turned out his Bulldog had pulled a grenade simulator out of an outside pocket on his rucksack and somehow managed to pull the string to detonate it despite the safety clip still being on it.
Now a grenade simulator makes quite a blast. It put a blew a hole in the throw rug. The Bulldog was apparently unhurt. Luckily it was not in it’s mouth when it went off.
That’s quite a story!
Was the dog’s behavior affected?
He said when he came out he was just standing there shaking his head but there was apparently no permanent damage done.

Do it! I whistled 1940’s swing with my dad and loved it. OK, there were some fingers in ears!
My Grampa was an excellent whistler. Ma and two brothers imitate all sorts of birds. One brother does the Godfather song so beautifully it can make one cry.
Used to try; since I can remember … watching Grampa’s mouth and fingers intently.
While out for a walk with him (at four years old) he noticed that I was studying him… and trying to imitate; my fingers in mouth, twisting my tung and blowing and blowing.
Gosh, how he laughed (I’ll never forget his delight)!
So, he explained… using his hands to position my mouth and finger.. and like magic
-I finally whistled.
It was so loud

I then tried it without fingers and it was even louder! Never could do it with fingers again.
But, boy can I whistle.
I do all the dog and burro call whistles around here – Lloyds sounds like the tea kettle before it really kicks in! Plus, I laugh. 😄 😁 🤣

The easiest way to picture Greenland is to think of a rock bowel where ice formed over time from snow compressed by the layers of snow above, builds up in the middle of the island and moves towards the edge of the bowl by the shear weight of more ice and snow behind it by gravity, and has pushed it’s way through to rim of the bowl in places. That is where the glaciers, which are essentially rivers of ice, calve the icebergs into the ocean. Calving is NOT a sign that the ice sheet is melting.
When it warms calving can increase for a relatively short time because the melting water causes lubricity that allows the ice to flow over the rocky base quicker but that is temporary and transient. It is more ice that causes more calving normally. To stop the calving the snows have to stop and even then the calving will continue until the ice sheet levels out.
So what we have reported here are conditions that will that will produce more calving and thus icebergs. Which the lying warmanistas claim are caused by global warming.
