When I was a little tyke growing up on a military base in Japan, all we got (that my parents could understand) was the Armed Forces Radio Network, so I heard all those old radio shows. Durante was one, but Amos and Andy, Fibber McGee, Jack Benny, Phil Harris were all part of that.
I’d include Fred Allen, but being a Jack Benny guy I won’t mention that rapscallion.
Interesting. Two of those people, I have actually met. Jimmy Durante in Vancouver B.C. can’t remember the year about 1962-3 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
We went into his dressing room he was charming and fun and we have an autographed photo of him which he signed in front of us. We told him we had some of his very old records and still played them sometimes. He was very interested in which ones we had liked. I think he was surprised at how old they were and rather pleased about that.
Also very long time ago I met Jack Benny in the UK. He was appearing in Manchester at the Palace theatre I think? several of his English fans were at the stage door.. 15? and he was very kind and stayed and chatted to us. He spoke in a very gentle polite tone of voice and appeared relaxed and unhurried. He thanked us for stopping by and asked us were we were from, nearby towns, most were. He gave an autograph to everyone who wanted one and had a few words for everyone. A real gentlemen.
An American soldier in uniform who was the worse for wear and very drunk, came staggering and weaving, along the ,sidewalk towards us. and was too far gone to knw who addressed him sharply. He told the soldier off and said he was giving a vey bad impression of American soldiers to these people ( our little group who were listening) and should never have let himself get in that condition. Also that he could get hurt and made sure he could get back to where he was supposed to be.
The soldier apologised to him and us and said cheerfully ‘you are right sir!’ to Jack. and waved and wobbled off. I bet he had no idea he had just been told of and ‘advised what to do’ by Jack Benny. :-))

Oh no they won’t accept your birth date or confirm it from an ID. They insist on scanning an ID and I insist on refusing their madness.

Am about to stop using my little “reward points” grocery shopping, too. I’m getting tired of all this meta data collected on me for “my benefit and convenience”. Feeling a bit overly surveilled!!! We have a 4th amendment to our Constitution for a reason.

Every time I get cash from our credit union, they want you to sign a document stating your reason for wanting cash! Happened at the last bank we used also. I write different things depending on my mood: ranging from “because it’s mine @#$%^” to “I owe the mafia.” The one that pleases them most is – “household expenses.” I know it’s our gubmint demanding this information, and it pisses me off every time.

A few ex-IDF generals, led by General Giora Eiland, have presented Bibi with a plan of retaliation for the murder of the six hostages and to defeat Hams. Here are the key elements of the plan that Bibi will adopt.
Step One: Evacuate all Gazans from northern Gaza; about 200,000 will be evacuated through checkpoints in the Natzarim corridor.
Step Two: Declare northern Gaza as a closed military zone. No aid, food, water, gas, or medical personnel will be allowed to enter this zone.
Step Three: After a week or so, start clearing up the areas where the Hams are still present. The cessation of aid will suffocate the remaining Hams terrorists.
Step Four: Repeat the above in other areas of the Gaza Strip. No Gazans will be allowed to go back to a zone that is cleared until the war is over and Hams surrender.
Analysis:
Laying a siege is acceptable by international law; the remaining people in the area will not be able to survive without food or water, so most likely, they will surrender without a fight or be killed.
Bibi is also considering removing the ability of Hams to control the aid and giving it to the IDF; it will achieve two goals: removing the dependency that Gazans have on Hams. Also, it will take away their ability to profit from the aid money that they use to hire new terrorists. This looks like a solid plan, and I hope Bibi will adopt it.

Our hectic 10 days has begun. Our large golden doodle granddogs arrived this afternoon. Our home is rather small and they are speed bumps stretched across the floors. We love having them and they love getting spoiled by Grama and Grampa.
Our kids, 2 sets, are heading to Ireland. I’m nervous about it but have put them into the Lord’s loving and protective hands. Still, I’ll be ever so thankful when they get home.
