This is so typically DC; the irony is a little grimacing on many levels. Apparently a not very smart carjacker pulled a gun and tried to steal a car belonging to a federal marshal while he was on the protective detail of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s condo in DC.
In response, the marshal fired “several shots” at the carjacker along with shots from another officer on the detail. The young ‘dindunuffin’ was not seriously injured but suffered a major hemorrhaging in street credibility amid the local DC thug population. Meanwhile, Justice Sotomayor is fine and continues to Build the Better World that surrounds her.
(WASHINGTON DC) – A deputy U.S. Marshal tasked with protecting Supreme Court justices’ homes shot an alleged armed carjacker near the Washington residence of Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor last week, authorities said Tuesday.
The suspect, 18-year-old Kentrell Flowers of Southeast D.C., allegedly pulled a handgun on the marshal, who was in a parked car in the Northwest section of the city around 1:15 a.m. ET on Friday, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a press release.
The marshal drew his own gun and “fired several shots at the suspect,” the MPD said. Another marshal in a separate vehicle also fired at Flowers, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. (read more)

The agent should arrested for attempted murder, based on current Alinsky rules. Shouldn’t have brandished a weapon over some property. Risking lives and such.
If an ordinary Citizen shot a car thief in DC they would go to jail and likely be charged with hate-crime enhancements.

The agents should be arrested for being such lousy shots, confined to the range until their accuracy is restored to acceptable levels. If the agents were competent the perpetrator would be dead and not on the dole today. You and I pay for all three persons.

Living in Texas with a state authorized license to carry, we can shoot back. Actually, the LTC isn’t required. I’ve hunted since age 9 or 10. I took the course and found it helpful. Only government grifters live in and around DC. Well, maybe a few valedictorians.

in my hometown, a criminal (very cunning) cased over 2 dozen patrol cars and then planned to break into about 9 of them over a period of 30 days. He stole: long rifles, magazine, ammo, radios, armored vests, and even some cash.
eventually (long pause to consider this happened over a 30 day period), a task force pinned him down and he is in custody…presumably, all weapons were recovered and no crimes committed outside of the theft.
yes, police are not paying attention to securing their patrol cars and weapons…yes, criminals are targeting this lack of attention .

I’d recommend that the marshal be fired for poor marksmanship. Multiple shots fired and the thug isn’t in the morgue? They’re going to get sued, so I guess that will be an appropriate punishment for not taking the crook out.

Any “normal” folks that tried to protect their car would be sitting in jail….a fact many people do not understand. We are not “allowed” to protect our property; only our lives.
