Yes ma’am, patience and Ma.🙏🙏. And incorruptible trust that it is so.
Good morning Bet and Patience! I’ll add my amen to this. Glad to have a boring morning. 🙌🙌🙌 ❤️
Oh, happy day, Pa ❣
Good morning, G. I hope your SIL is doing well🙏
Boring is good!
We had our twin 17 year old grandlads, their 14 year old sister, and my first born over last night for pizza. We had not seen them since before Christmas and…oh my! They’ve grown (I’ve shrunk).
Their heads are on straight, thankfully, even if they are still a bit teenaged absent minded, but that will pass. We had the credit card lesson last night. Taking our opportunities when they come.
Our granddaughter looked so grown up and smartly dressed. When I commented on her appearance, she proudly told us her top and jeans came from…wait for it(!!!)…Goodwill! Her favourite place to find “new” clothes. Not for her overpriced faddish clothing with the “right” label.
How thrilled am I? Very!😉
Enjoy your boring day to the fullest, my dear brother🤗
Thank you for sharing, dear sister! Well, my day is half boring. Needed to have the 96 Jag towed to my mechanic. We had the head gasket changed a little while ago. It was running fine but all of a sudden started running rough. Most likely a disconnected ignition coil or one gone bad. Called AAA and put the order in. The driver called and didn’t want to listen for directions so the GPS sent him 54 miles away. So he’s on the way but still not here.
Then it will be a drive to Fredericksburg and a workout, then Nipper afternoon and evening. Will get up tomorrow earlier than I like to be at school on time.
Our 19 yo grandson is back in Europe to finish his soccer academy. During the half year that he was back home he rehabbed his knee, worked and saved all the money for his academy, and went to church with his friends without anyone having to prod him. Makes us happy. 🙂
Oh good golly!!
Reminiscent of our GPS sending us to the middle of nowhere once upon a time on a first visit to our daughter’s in-laws for Thanksgiving. We would have been on time except for that, instead of embarrassingly late.
Oh how I understand your happiness, my dear friend. It is an indescribable feeling when we see those we love taking the right roads. Godspeed to this young man. I’m glad his surgery and healing went well. it sounds as if he is doing what he loves.
And those academies don’t take just anyone. He must be quite talented!😍
Hope they find you, out in the boonies as you seem to be (and as I’m sure you prefer it). I’m going to share your Jag news with my husband who owned a couple in the UK long ago, restored and sold them. A move he has regretted ever since. He’ll be most interested.
What’s a boring day worth without a soupçon of drama. Right? Hoping he shows up soon.💕
Hubby’s were an MK II and an XK 120. And a 420G, which he says was an absolute nail, sold within 2 months. He still has the MK II emblem though.
Jag safely arrived. Already read the code, it’s cylinder 6 that has the problem. Likely the coil, if really lucky could be the spark plug. It’s nothing fancy, XJ6 but still with that classic Jaguar look and the cat on the hood. The EU did away with all the hood ornaments. Danger to the pedestrians they said. I would think if a pedestrian came in contact with the front end of the car the hood ornament would be their least problem.
Or I should’ve said the bonnet ornament. 😁😍
Morning Ya’ll 🙂
And Aretha!!!
Mornin’ jay 🙂

This reminds one of Albert Bierstadt’s art.
I was in Yosemite many times as a kid enjoying every visit. 🇺🇸😁🇺🇸
Yes, Sepp. A retrospective of his works would be wonderful.

Morning, Mr jay. Magnifique!!!
Maidin Mhaith Betsy 🇺🇸😁🇺🇸
Yosemite Valley is my favorite place on the face of the earth. it is almost mystical just being there, surrounded by the magnificent El Capitan and Half Dome. A truly beautiful place to spend time.
Hiking the back trails was load’s of beauty 😁
Loved all these musicians, J! Listened to Allman Brothers at an Atlanta park before they really became big.
Saw Muddy Waters live in small theatre. Aretha takes me back to teen memory lane.
Noticed same song here, three artists – hope this isn’t a subtle message!
No message just wanted some good blues 🇺🇸😎🇺🇸

Things must be going better up there in your neck of woods…
Good morning jay!

Such a Cootie ! 🙂
What a precious little love!
If you can’t find your dog, open the refrigerator…he’s right behind you.
Happens with my kitties too!
Does it? Hahaha!!
I thought their thing was tins of food opening. Ah well…to each his or her own😊
Whenever I’m cooking anything, Lacey and Millie always show up in the kitchen to offer their assistance. Without fail. It’s like magic.
😁!!! But of course…every chef needs “assistants”!
Oh my, Garrison. Reflective choices. Thank you.
May I offer you one in return?
“The Lark Ascending” by Ralph (pronounced Rafe) Vaughan Williams.
A gentle work, so good for the soul. May the gift of His peace go with you today, my friend.
Such beauty is much appreciated, especially now. After listening to Al Gore’s stupid shouting at Davos, Ralph Vaughan Williams is a perfect antidote to his mindless raving. Those folks don’t realize that their dreams of world dominance always end when people simply stop obeying. The Davos crowd likes authoritarian police states for just this reason.
Freedom and Whisky! David E. Davis
Interjecting here, G, I’m furious (and embarrassed) that our Gov. Brian Kemp (GA) is at Davos as a speaker.
He says: “I’m here in Davos to sell our state.”
I say “hogwash.”
A nice vaca, maybe🤔
Can’t bring myself to watch any of it.
There was some fine repartee and discussion on Kemp and the odious Raffensberger within the first comments on the thread Sundance posted last night about Twitter, mine included. Every one agreeing with you, Della.
Will check that out, B. Thanks!
👍
Kemp has already sold Georgia. Down the river of Marxism.
I believe this, k! Heartbreaking to watch. Born and lived here over seven decades.
Just hate it for younger generation. Can do anything about it, but wait on Almighty God to intervene. ✝️
You have more fortitude than I, my friend. I’ve seen the headlines about the unhinged, over fed “the seas are swallowing us up” Gore…he of the coastal residence. I simply couldn’t watch.
Agree. The more that comes out of their repugnant egos strutting the stage, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing…and the more they expose their monstrous natures and satanic plans post vaxxxxx tragedies…the more guaranteed is the mass noncompliance.
I have always loved this work of Vaughan Williams. I feel calmer for the listening of it. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.😘
🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻
Lark is my favorite Vaughan Williams piece, and English pastoral music is my favorite classical music. Big thumbs up!
So glad, trapper! Mine as well. You’ll be familiar then with the tragic George Butterworth.
This is the most poignant Vaughan Williams song ever written, sung by my favourite Welsh baritone, Sir Bryn Terfel.
I could weep hearing it. Because I think we can all relate to the circumstances. I absolutely adore this one.
******
And from “A Shropshire Lad, Butterworth…
With rue my heart is laden
For golden friends I had,
For many a rose-lipt maiden
And many a lightfoot lad.
Lovely Miss Betsy, one of my favorites! Thanks 🙂
You are so welcome, Michael. Mine as well. One didn’t load…so I am trying again. This one is very poignant as well coming as it did during WWI where Butterworth lost his life.
One of my favorites , 1530!
But I haven’t listened to it in so long. Thank you so much for posting it. Wonderful!!
One of my all time favorites. You can see and feel the lark ascending as it flies higher and farther until it is out of view.
I was almost afraid to click on the video because some other musicians and their conductors have given mechanical performances of that lovely, lovely piece.
So beautiful and emotional.
Exactly, Sherri. He really painted a musical picture with this one. I can feel my spirits rising with the lark. it really is a magnificent work. And yes, yes. A good conducted makes all the difference. I listened to several performances before choosing this one. It was just perfect.
And a virtuosic violinist is essential to making this work heavenly.
Garrison, thank you for posting an island of calm in a chaotic and tumultous world.
Indeed. 🙂
Morning Garrison!
Afternoon, Gramps. Some great music selections up today. Love Butterworth. I can imagine a singer like that spontaneously singing in my favorite pub or, what the hell, a classic Texas bar. I bet the reception would be exactly be the same. Oh, yeah. Did you check the dipstick on your ‘Jag? If you have oil that looks like milk you have water-in-the-oil. The head gasket could be leaking.
Changed that gasket recently.
🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻
🙂
Happy Cursday Treepers
Looking forward to seeing the pup that chooses you, my man Garrison. ❤️
Sooner rather than later, Patience. I hope. 🙂 Meanwhile, me and little ‘Tink, my little black kitty, are getting along just fine.
🥰
Spilled some milk? No problem.
Good morning, Joe. That is one cheeky chappie. Mischief on the way.
Good morning, Bet. Definitely a kool kitty. Who knows what diabolical plans this one has in it’s furry little head….
39 degrees and sunny outside. Gorgeous spring like day again. Woke up a couple of hours ago; nothing on the agenda today. Visited the wife last night. Brought her another cheeseburger and a Hershey’s bar. I just sat in her wheelchair and watched a cop show on the tube while keeping an eye on her at the same time. Again, watching tv is not exactly my favorite thing, but I want to sit with my spouse. Made sure the fall pad was by her bed before leaving.
Have a blessed day, stay warm. A little on the chilly side here.
Loving (!!!) these little faces. They complement Leon’s so wonderfully.
I know how difficult things are for her, Joe…and you. Everyone needs someone to be their earthly angel, along with their heavenly guardian one.
If I remember correctly, you are happy with the staff who look after her. Your having worked in this arena helps with your connections with them I’m sure. God watch over you both, my friend. I’m confident He does. 😘🙏
I’m okay with the nursing staff. I know what they go through having had firsthand experience myself. I’ve noticed staff turnover when visit my spouse; sometimes I see aides and nurses who were employed at the facility I worked at. I know a lot of stuff gets posted on social media about working conditions at different nursing homes. I avoid that kind of thing; comments on Facebook can really backfire and cause problems. That’s one of many reasons I carry a flip phone and do not plan on getting a smartphone, etc. So, I’m still in the Stone Age when it comes to new and “improved”cell phones.
It does get a little bleak when seeing my wife bedridden and I wonder how much time she has left on this planet. We used to do so much together before she had the strokes.
I know you know too much, my friend. You are quite right to stay away from any and all stories. As you can visit now when you choose, it is good that it can be anytime. So to keep an eye on things.
I understand that wondering, Joe. And how worrying it is. That you are there with her and for her most probably means it will be a while. I pray so. So many people don’t have that love surrounding them. But she does….it makes such a difference.
🙏🙏🙏
(We are carrying our own governmental spy equipment. Hold on to that flip phone, dear sir😘)
I have to keep the flip phone close by in case there’s an emergency with her. Other than that, I wouldn’t mind going back to an old rotary phone. Should’ve kept the one I had decades ago. For posterity purposes if for no other reason.
Sorry you both are going through this Joe… hard times, for sure.
As my mamma’s only caregiver, daily visits to nursing home were difficult. Takes a toll on the emotional psyche, as well.
You’re a saint to be there with your beloved.
Prayer up 🙏🏻
Thanx, Miss.Della.B.

Young ones steal the show at horse shows.
Very nice.. brings back memories 😀👍..back in 80’s my wife and I got into horses.. bought mare in foal..for a city kid from Brooklyn the birth of foal was the most amazing thing I’d seen .. learned a lot over years👍…
Love the first video.. expresses FREEDOM !!🤣🤣
🇺🇸💪😀👍
I’s PLAYTIME! The first video was adorable. Catch me if you can.
I think horses are the ultimate ‘pet.’ They are really good at reading people and act accordingly. They are as loving and devoted as dogs, just a whole lot bigger.
I’m glad you and your wife were able to have horses. They really expand one’s views on animals.
Absolutely… 😀👍
🇺🇸💪😀👍
Thank you for these, patty!
Coach or carriage driving is a real skill. My sister in law and her driving partner who live in Wales had a riding establishment, but turned their love of horses into competitive carriage driving. They were away most weekends competing in events which were the passion of Prince Philip, with whom they had more than a passing acquaintance.
His granddaughter, Lady Louise Windsor, is a gifted carriage driver herself at the age of 18. But she would be, given that he taught her. I know he is missed, but I suspect it is she who feels his absence most deeply.
I wish you could see some of those events. You of all our branch dwellers would appreciate them, I think.
The last season of “The Crown” shows Philip and his passion for carriage racing.
I have never seen that show, Joe. He was quite the expert, no question. And very easy to talk to and with. I believe he bequeathed to Louise his favour carriage pony and carriage. Very probably the one she learned in with him at her side.
She started out in this life with a serious eye problem which required surgical correction and was a plain child. But as she has grown, she has developed into a lovely, poised, elegant, quiet, and circumspect young woman. I’m certain Philip would be very proud.
I’ll do a search and see if I can find any carriage competitions. The only time I ever saw carriages was when I was little and Budweiser would have their carriage each year at our local fair. My parents always took me to see their show. They would show how the horses maneuvered the carriage, back it up, turn it. For me, that was the highlight of the fair.
After the show my Dad would take me back to the stalls and hold me up so I could see them up close and personal. Their caretakers were so nice and would let me pet them. Those are some of my most cherished memories.
It looks so easy. All one does is to hold the reins…or so ignorant me thought. There is much more to it.
I’m sure you draw on those memories often. They are impressive animals in pictures. But close up? They are magnificent!
During the 90’s I’dgo horseback riding every day I was off and wasn’t at the lake . Started off with a Western saddle, eventually ended up with an English one. Much lighter and easier to strap on the horse and take off. Good times.
I SAY, old chap!! Jolly good!
From those like you who enjoy their riding, I’ve heard the same. Tally Ho!!
My favorite was always bareback, when the weather permitted. You can feel the power of all their muscles and it was such a feeling of carefree freedom. Also, in the summer when it was really hot we would go down to the river where it was deep and swim the horses. Such good times.
We lived in Visalia for a couple years in Jr. High School; out in Oak Ranch. We’d go down to the St. Johns river in the summer. Wish those days coulda lasted longer.
Those were the days, my friend, we thought they’d never end. We’d sing and dance forever and a day…

BLESSINGS IN AUSTRALIA
Sister Winnie Andrews, N. Melbourne, Australia, writes: “Our Brother Wigglesworth landed here February 16th, and had a meeting that very night. The dear Lord was present and that to heal. A little girl of six, having never walked, after she had been prayed for, walked out of the front door with her mother,
who was full of joy for what the Lord had done for her little one. Another man who had been suffering with bad feet for years and walked only with the aid of a stick was instantly healed and has been along several times to testify to what the Lord has done for him. Many deaf people have been delivered in answer to the prayer of faith. One night a dear man and his wife whom he brought to the meeting in a
wheel chair, were both healed. He had been suffering from deafness for 20 years and she had not walked for over 6 1/2 years. After prayer she got out of her chair and walked to the station, with her husband pushing the empty chair. He, too, was rejoicing in that he was now able to hear perfectly. O what a wonderful God we have. Blessed by His holy Name!”
“At the Sunday afternoon service, a dear young woman who had been suffering with tuberculosis for 13 years and who was in the last stages, came leaning on the arm of a friend and was prayed for. At once she received new life and was perfectly delivered. The terrible burning sores which were eating their way into her bones have dried up and are peeling off, and she is looking so well and happy and is as
strong as can be. Glory to God! Last night a young man suffering from consumption was prayed for and was instantly made whole. O, our hearts overflow at the glorious things God is doing in our midst!”
“Many have been healed of neuritis, heart and lung trouble and stiff joints. One woman who had not walked for 22 years and could not as much as turn her head — after prayer — got out of bed and walked. Praise God!”

Matthew 17:24-27 “And they having come into Capernaum, those who received the didrachmas came to Peter and said, Your Teacher, does He not pay the didrachmas? He said, Yes. And when he entered into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, What do you think, Simon? The kings of the earth, from whom do they receive custom or tribute? from their sons, or from the strangers? Peter says to Him, From the strangers. Jesus said to him, Then indeed the sons are free. But that we may not offend them, having gone to the sea, throw out a hook, and the first fish that comes up, take, and having opened its mouth you shall find a stater; having taken that, give to them for me and you.”
The way Matthew describes this scene, shows a very good picture of a day in town. The tax-gatherers are standing around, probably talking to each other, while looking for who they can grab that might owe the didrachmas; and the little ship with Jesus and the twelve are pulling in to dock. They all must have, no doubt, heard of Jesus, what He was doing; and they had probably seen Him and the crowds around town several times. Who knows what they were thinking; maybe just because they had quotas to fill; but some of them know that they have never seen Jesus paying the tribute money; and since they may have recognized Peter as a ‘local boy,’ they approach him and ask, “Your Teacher, doesn’t He pay the didrachmas?” Well it seems, that they caught Peter a little off guard; for the way he answers them seems like he just wanted to get out of the questioning, and also not bring the Lord into any trouble with them. “Yes” he says, and walks off.
Now the Lord is watching, and knows everything that happens, and what is said, in all our ordinary little things of the day; and He knew what had just transpired between Peter and those men. He knew who they were, and everything about them; and He knew also how Peter had lied to get out of a sticky situation with them. So He meets Peter coming in, and holds him at the door, to help him with this issue.
First the question, Who is it that should be taxed? the sons, or the strangers? There is no disrespect for the Romans’ way of governing; but the Lord is interjecting God’s righteous view of how it should be done; plus He wants to make Peter think in a certain direction about it. Peter then answers, From the strangers. The Lord knew perfectly what the Roman laws were; and He knew all the complications in interpetting it: for example, Who is a citizen, and Who is the stranger. With regards to citizenship, they could be of another nation, as long as they were born under Roman rule. If someone is an Italian Roman, then there’s no question. As far as tribute was concerned, however, foreigners under Roman Rule were obliged to pay. What the Lord made for a point, was that being subject to the Powers that be, is all part of being righteous with God; for God has ordained the Powers; and our obedience to God, also extends to the things and the people He has ordained, and their institutions. “Obey every institution of man for the Lord’s sake.”
Now it is interesting, how the Lord chose to pay the tribute. He could have said, Now you go ahead, Peter, and get the money from Judas, he has the church funds; but He didn’t do that. Instead He does something, that is meant to show Peter by example of God’s humility; and pay the tribute from out of His divine power. He didn’t think it was right to take it from the little group’s small budget; and He had the power, as God, to create the money, and put in a fishes mouth, and then make that fish come up to take the hook that Peter threw into the water. The demonstration of God’s humility in the display of His power, is something to wonder at. They weren’t just collecting a tax from some rabbi; but from the Son of God.
He is good; and doing good costs a lot less than offending someone on a technical point of law. God has ordained the powers and authorities of the world, and He supports them in their designs of how those governments are to work. In this also He plainly sets forth, that whether they are doing right and just, or not; our place is not to offend them, but to be subordinate. And if we think about it, no one would have been more right to resist unjust law than Jesus; but see how He shows us a better way; the way of charity (agape). God doesn’t do good only to those who are good and fair to Him; He is not controlled by how anyone treats Him, or whether they regard Him at all. God does good because He is good, and perfect in virtue. And that’s how He created us also to be, in His own image and likeness.
When the Lord Jesus commanded us to “Be perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect,” it was not something He knew we couldn’t do; it was nothing extraordinary, and it is not optional. Its how He made us, and His commandment, that “as He is, so should we be also in this world:” this includes all our earthly affairs and duties to the State and their institutions, where we reside; as in a country belonging to others. This is their world; God has given it to them for the time; and we are strangers passing through their country: and are subject to their laws.

Good morning, JWoo. Hoping so much you and your beautiful inside and out daughter are feeling a bit easier.😘
Good evening, Betsy. Hugs to you. Daughter is fine. She is right as rain and looking forward to her good friend staying the night with us tomorrow. Giggling teen girls should make for a sleepless Friday night. I will just hide!

Didn’t see this movie, Joe, but reminds me of Three Stooges on tv – in black/white, of course.
Years ago we watched them over and over – they were funny every.single.time.
A hearty laugh (at the right things) does the heart good, right?
Love the sound effects on this one.
Such jokesters!!
Oh Yeah, like watching cartoons and Gilligan’s Island; you could see the same ones over and over, and it didn’t matter! I think that’s how we can have such a good sense of humor when we get older, because we were shown how things “really are” in the world 🙂
That’s right, Michael! Humor really helps us along life’s journey – especially being able to laugh at oneself!

But first must He suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the cataclysm came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”
The REAL Noah’s Ark FOUND by Archaeologist Ron Wyatt! – Short Documentary
“Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” I assume you are referring to the Messiah here, and indeed it shall be a “calamity” much like what is portrayed in those scriptures. A “Calamity” one may ask, isn’t it supposed to be the most happy moment of creation?. Well, it’s both – sadly the revealing is also D-day. Everything will be exposed, the line is drawn – there are no 2nd chances or do-overs from that moment. As Eva so sweetly sings it – “People get ready”. As for those found not worthy, these will not be spoken of again.
So true, OS, and I love to thank the Lord God daily for being patient with me and faithful to me, until salvation came to my heart. I’m ready!
Jesus is the most kind, and most faithful any of us could want. You know the Word, and He is here now, if you call to Him, and believe that He hears you, He will answer, and make you every whit whole inside and out.
Thank you, Michael! I did call to Him forty years ago and would never go back to the old life! I’m just saying, I’m ready, Lord, to meet You!”✝️

Vision and Darkness
When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him. —Genesis 15:12
Whenever God gives a vision to a Christian, it is as if He puts him in “the shadow of His hand” (Isaiah 49:2). The saint’s duty is to be still and listen. There is a “darkness” that comes from too much light— that is the time to listen. The story of Abram and Hagar in Genesis 16 is an excellent example of listening to so-called good advice during a time of darkness, rather than waiting for God to send the light. When God gives you a vision and darkness follows, wait. God will bring the vision He has given you to reality in your life if you will wait on His timing. Never try to help God fulfill His word. Abram went through thirteen years of silence, but in those years all of his self-sufficiency was destroyed. He grew past the point of relying on his own common sense. Those years of silence were a time of discipline, not a period of God’s displeasure. There is never any need to pretend that your life is filled with joy and confidence; just wait upon God and be grounded in Him (see Isaiah 50:10-11).
Do I trust at all in the flesh? Or have I learned to go beyond all confidence in myself and other people of God? Do I trust in books and prayers or other joys in my life? Or have I placed my confidence in God Himself, not in His blessings? “I am Almighty God…”— El-Shaddai, the All-Powerful God (Genesis 17:1). The reason we are all being disciplined is that we will know God is real. As soon as God becomes real to us, people pale by comparison, becoming shadows of reality. Nothing that other saints do or say can ever upset the one who is built on God.
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
There is nothing, naturally speaking, that makes us lose heart quicker than decay—the decay of bodily beauty, of natural life, of friendship, of associations, all these things make a man lose heart; but Paul says when we are trusting in Jesus Christ these things do not find us discouraged, light comes through them.

From birth senescence is all around us. Whether we intuit it or not.
With senescence showing itself stronger as decades pass, I literally say to myself, It’s my turn, thank you God.

Me too, P. Also, include a saying from Amy Carmichael:

PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.
I so love this prayer!❤️🙏

Hey Betsy, Do you remember in Pilgrim’s Progress, in the poem in the beginning, when Bunyan is describing how the story came to him; the part where he said something like; “Some prefer to eat the meat, and others like to pick the bone?”
I am thankful for EVERYONE who contributes a word of encouragement or shares some insight into Scripture: we all need each other.
Thank you duchess for your faithful love every day to remind us of the little ones Jesus cares about, and how we are to walk in victory through this world.
The Lord bless you.

“Flee from idolatry”—1 Corinthians 10:14
J. C. Ryle (1816-1900)
THIS text may seem at first sight to be hardly needed in England. In an age of education and intelligence like this, we might almost fancy it is a waste of time to tell an Englishman to “flee from idolatry.” I am bold to say that this is a great mistake. I believe that we have come to a time when the subject of idolatry demands a thorough and searching investigation. I believe that idolatry is near us, and about us, and in the midst of us, to a very fearful extent. The Second Commandment, in one word, is in peril. “The plague is begun.” Without further preface, I propose in this paper to consider the four following points:
I. The Definition of Idolatry. What Is It?
II. The Cause of Idolatry. Whence Comes It?
III. The Form Idolatry Assumes in the Visible Church of Christ. Where Is It?
IV. The Ultimate Abolition of Idolatry. What Will End It?
I feel that the subject is encompassed with many difficulties. Our lot is cast in an age when truth is constantly in danger of being sacrificed to toleration, charity, and peace falsely so-called. Nevertheless, I cannot forget, as a clergy man, that the Church of England is a church which has “given no uncertain sound” on the subject of idolatry; and unless I am greatly mistaken, truth about idolatry is, in the highest sense, truth for the times.
I. What Idolatry Is
Let me, then, first of all, supply a definition of idolatry. Let me show WHAT IT IS. It is of the utmost importance that we should understand this. Unless I make this clear, I can do nothing with the subject. Vagueness and indistinctness prevail upon this point, as upon almost every other in religion. The Christian who would not be continually running aground in his spiritual voyage must have his channel well- buoyed, and his mind well-stored with clear definitions.
I say then that “idolatry is a worship in which the honor due to God in Trinity, and to Him only, is given to some of His creatures, or to some invention of His creatures.” It may vary exceedingly. It may assume exceedingly different forms, according to the ignorance or the knowledge, the civilization or the barbarism, of those who offer it. It may be grossly absurd and ludicrous, or it may closely border on truth and admit of being most speciously defended. But whether in the adoration of the idol of Juggernaut, or in the adoration of the Host in St. Peter’s at Rome, the principle of idolatry is in reality the same. (In either case the honor due to God is turned aside from Him and bestowed on that which is not God. And whenever this is done, whether in heathen temples or in professedly Christian churches, there is an act of idolatry.
It is not necessary for a man formally to deny God and Christ, in order to be an idolater. Far from it. Professed reverence for the God of the Bible and actual idolatry are perfectly compatible: They have often gone side by side, and they still do so. The children of Israel never thought of renouncing God when they persuaded Aaron to make the golden calf. “These be thy gods,” they said, “which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.” And the feast in honor of the calf was kept as “a feast unto the LORD” (Exodus 32:4, 5). Jeroboam, again, never pretended to ask the ten tribes to cast off their allegiance to the God of David and Solomon. When he set up the calves of gold in Dan and Bethel, he only said, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt” (1 Kings 12:28). In both instances, we should observe, the idol was not set up as a rival to God, but under the pretense of being a help—a stepping stone to His service. But, in both instances, a great sin was committed. The honor due to God was given to a visible representation of Him. The majesty of Jehovah was offended. The Second Commandment was broken. There was, in the eyes of God, a flagrant act of idolatry.
Let us mark this well. It is high time to dismiss from our minds those loose ideas about idolatry which are common in this day. We must not think, as many do, that there are only two sorts of idolatry—the spiritual idolatry of the man who loves his wife, or child, or money more than God; and the open, gross idolatry of the man who bows down to an image of wood, or metal, or stone because he knows no better. We may rest assured that idolatry is a sin which occupies a far wider field than this. It is not merely a thing in Hindustan that we may hear of and pity at missionary meetings; nor yet is it a thing confined to our own hearts that we may confess before the mercy-seat upon our knees. It is a pestilence that walks in the Church of Christ to a much greater extent than many suppose. It is an evil that, like the man of sin, “sits in the very temple of God” (2 Thessalonians 2:4). It is a sin that we all need to watch and pray against continually. It creeps into our religious worship insensibly and is upon us before we are aware. Those are tremendous words which Isaiah spoke to the formal Jew—not to the worshiper of Baal, remember, but to the man who actually came to the temple: “He that kills an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrifices a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offers an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burns incense, as if he blessed an idol” (Isaiah 66:3).
This is that sin which God has especially denounced in His Word. One commandment out of ten is devoted to the prohibition of it. Not one of all the ten contains such a solemn declaration of God’s character and of His judgments against the disobedient—“I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me” (Exodus 20:5). Not one, perhaps, of all the ten is so emphatically repeated and amplified, and especially in the fourth chapter of the Book of Deuteronomy.
This is the sin of all others to which the Jews seem to have been most inclined before the destruction of Solomon’s temple. What is the history of Israel under their judges and kings but a melancholy record of repeated falling away into idolatry? Again and again we read of “high places” and false gods. Again and again we read of captivities and chastisements on account of idolatry. Again and again we read of a return to the old sin. It seems as if the love of idols among the Jews was naturally bone of their bone and flesh of their flesh. The besetting sin of the Old Testament church, in one word, was idolatry.
In the face of the most elaborate ceremonial ordinances that God ever gave to His people, Israel was incessantly turning aside after idols and worshiping the work of men’s hands. This is the sin of all others which has brought down the heaviest judgments on the visible church. It brought on Israel the armies of Egypt, Assyria, and Babylon. It scattered the ten tribes, burned up Jerusalem, and carried Judah and Benjamin into captivity. It brought on the Eastern churches, in later days, the overwhelming flood of the Saracenic invasion and turned many a spiritual garden into a wilderness. The desolation which reigns where Cypria and Augustine once preached, the living death in which the churches of Asia Minor and Syria are buried, are all attributable to this sin. All testify to the same great truth which the LORD proclaims in Isaiah: “My glory will I not give to another” (Isaiah 42:8). Let us gather up these things in our minds and ponder them well. Idolatry is a subject which, in every church of Christ that would keep herself pure, should be thoroughly examined, understood, and known. It is not for nothing that St. Paul lays down the stern command, “Flee from idolatry.”

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. – 1 Corinthians 10:31
If you ever tried to lose weight, you know there are a multitude of diets all explaining why other diets do not work, but this particular one does. It can be very confusing. As temples of the Holy Spirit, believers are exhorted to care for and keep their bodies in shape to glorify God. But those who struggle with their health and weight find it no easy thing to do.
Paul addresses the Corinthians about food dedicated to idols. He said that as a follower of Christ, free from the law, he can eat anything with a free conscience. However, if he knew that food was dedicated to idols, he would not eat it as a testimony of his faithfulness to the Lord.
The apostle’s concern was for those who did not know the Lord. He did not want to encourage them in idol worship and unbelief. In today’s verse, he urges you in your choices, whether of food and drink or anything else you do, to do it to the glory of God.
At this time of the year, many started a diet but could be struggling now and may have even abandoned it altogether. If you are one of the millions of Americans in this situation, remember your right standing with God is because of what Jesus did on the cross.
Press into Him. Fill up on His Holy Spirit and His Word. Ask Him to help you eat in such a way that brings honor to the Lord with your temple. Pray for citizens and government leaders who struggle with addictions to find their freedom in Christ.

Mornin’ all!
Today we finish the picture boards for the showing/funeral. That will leave us with nothing to do on Friday except one of us will have to go to the Funeral Home to check and see that the Caterer has gotten everything set up.
So Friday will be a day of rest before the long and emotional day Saturday will be.
I called Josh and asked him not to dispatch me until Monday. Don’t think I’ll be ready to go Sunday. He agreed.
I took this week off with no pay, saving my vacation time for things to come. However, they had a vacation day they had rolled over and said I needed to use it or lose it. So I took that and the Company pays two days Bereavement pay, so I will get a pay check for this week that will be my salary prorated to 3 days pay.
That leaves me with 15 days of paid vacation for this year that has to last me until October.

My father could quote that. I think he learned it from his grandfather who would always end the recitation with “Bobby Burns”.
Love that…or as they call him in Scotland, Rabbie Burns. I bet your father would love Burns’ Night there. Its more than a night, but is celebrated every year.😊
Aren’t all the government attendees prostituting themselves to the rich?
The Al Gore effect is still a weather phenomenon. When Al shows up at a major conference to speak on “climate change” it has quite often turned cold and wintery. Same for the WEF at Davos this year. I guess the ah er, escorts, will be required to cuddle up to their old fat clients to keep them warm. But at up to $2,700 a night I doubt that they will care.

So – whoever was moderating last night has something against Jimi Hendrix? Seriously?
Let’s see what happens with this one
Mornin’, Joe.
Thanks, but I’d like to know where the hell mine went. Anybody else listening? Who’s in charge here? Where’s my Captains Wafers? Apparently it’s not Hendrix. Perhaps last night’s moderator just doesn’t like me. That’s fine. It’s a big club and new members join every day.
Afternoon trapper. Checked the bin and found it there. It was posted at 2:14 am, so none of us were around to personally trash it….must have been done by our spam filter all on its own.

Posted…(originally on 1/19/23 – 2:14am).
Jimi Hendrix on guitar, Steve Winwood on organ, Jack Casady on bass, and Gary Kellgren on the board.
Put on the headphones (OK, ear buds, whatever), turn off the lights, crank it up, and listen to the guitar travel from your right ear to your left, across the inside of your forehead. Listen for Casady to take it back up again at 11:00 after the last break. The organ is a guitar, the guitar is an organ, and Casady provides a solid foundation all the way down to bedrock that all of it rests on.

Thanks. With David Crosby passing today, I was on a nostalgia bender and watching the ’67 Monterey Pops remembering how it really was for us in California back then.
TBH, if not for Gracie I wouldn’t have ever known who Jack was. She was, back then anyway live, mesmerizing. So, one gets to know who the band is.
If one gets a chance, watch the movie they made of the ’67 Monterey concert. Epic. Once in a lifetime.
Thanks for sharing and Rest in Peace to David Crosby.

Joe Bastardi’s personal COVID story:
A personal Covid StoryBy Joe Bastardi |January 17th, 2023|Human interest|24 Comments
My mom and dad passed away from Covid within a half hour of each other holding hands in a hospital in Rhode Island on January 19, 2022. I had disobeyed my dad‘s direct orders to never put him in a hospital. I felt that my mom and dad were so strong physically that once they got under a doctors’ care they would have made a comeback. I figured I would get yelled at every time I was at home because I disobeyed dad but I would’ve much rather had them alive. If I knew they were going to die in the hospital I would have let them carry out their wishes because it became apparent as Covid grew worse that they were trying to isolate themselves and die in their home together. It’s just the way they were. When it came to themselves, they seemed fearless.
My mom and dad were diagnosed with Covid the Wednesday before Christmas. Immediately we got them on a monoclonal list. Unfortunately in the state of Rhode Island, there were only two distribution centers and we had to wait eight days. By the time we came to that day they were both already in critical condition in the intensive care unit. What was shocking was that the hospital did not even have monoclonals. And that wasn’t the least of it. Any other possible remedy outside of the protocol was told to me to be impossible. One of the doctors actually said to me to come and get them and take them where I wanted if I did not agree. Can you imagine hearing that from a doctor? She actually said that to me. When I was suggesting to try alternative methods, another asked me why I wouldn’t let them die with dignity? That’s the one time I lost it. How about fighting back by any means necessary and living? Wasn’t that an option?—not when the protocol established from on high said no. But most of the doctors were great. Interestingly enough Sean Hannity— as soon as he found out about my mom and dad— volunteered to fly them to Florida where they could get monoclonals in them. By that time it was too late and my parents would never do that. Let me just pause here and talk a bit about Sean Hannity. He called me every night. He was amazingly knowledgeable on the matter and helped me immensely both as a supportive friend and in evaluating the figures the doctors were giving me— he had a lot of friends and family that had to deal with it. As good as he is at what he does, to me that demonstration meant he is even a better man. And people should know when they see him, the guy has a huge heart.
I could tell by talking to some of the doctors that they understood exactly where I was coming from, but they were handcuffed. There were others just like the one I referenced above, that sounded like they couldn’t care less. I have no bitterness and animosity because, after two years of this, I’m sure one has to develop some type of thick skin. But here is the important point: the whole Covid situation was fought and is still being fought with a strategy of top-down control despite major uncertainties, as opposed to the strategy of the individual decision based on all information. My mom and dad were 92 and 87. And while I don’t even know if I’ve processed the fact that they are gone, the fact that every time a weather situation starts getting kind of crazy my instinct is to call my dad and talk to him. I do know this, that we have generations of young people that have to worry, even if it’s just the slightest amount, about what they put into their bloodstream because other people were dictating to them what they had to do and limiting all the information. One of my dearest friends, a teammate of mine at Penn State, just had his 33-year-old daughter drop dead from a heart attack. It is one thing for a 67-year-old man to lose his mom and dad, but losing your daughter at that age? We are hearing more and more of this. It’s the same thing across the board. I am under the impression just like I wrote in my book that Covid would be a warm-up for what they’re going to try to do with climate. That is not the subject matter here obviously, although my father actually was big in putting that idea in my head. I will close with this: there are some challenges that are put in front of us that are meant for us to respond to in a way that increases our freedom, increases our knowledge, and increases our courage, not the opposite. If you are one nation under God and focused on God then perhaps problems are just that, ways of progressing as a species and getting closer to God. Perhaps there are spiritual undertones in all we are seeing. If I were half the man my dad was I’d be twice the man I am now and he would be the first to tell you that without my mother our family would have been next to nothing. But that is because both of them were brave and selfless, and like the rest of my family, they always look to the higher calling. That is what their American experience taught them to do. As children of immigrants, they were taught this is the land of possibilities, not the land of restrictions and control.
I pray that our nation will get back on that track. Maybe these problems are there so that we respond to the higher calling.
As a Rhode Islander, I call BS on the unavailability of monoclonals, when needed (immediately). I say this because Brown University Medical School is here, has deep resources and employs an enormous number of medical practitioners. However, these same folks/MD’s/RNP’s are driving the vaccination narrative hard. Evil lives in the veins of the Medical Industry now.
My Beloved and I have been in the hospital ( I am staying with him in his room) since Jan 2.
The working diagnosis is Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES)
They are testing to eliminate other causes of his brain problem.
Did research while awake most of the night:
PRES can be caused by…you guessed it…the clot shots !!
Other neurological conditions can be too.
His d-dimer levels were 15 points higher than normal ( his system is at a level conducive to clotting)
He has come through all this ….and is slowly improving…through the healing touch of Our Lord Jesus Christ!❤🙏
He is weak from being in bed so long, and will need rehab before coming pork. This from a man who was normal before, even riding his motorcycle in the Toys for Tots ride in Dec.
I. HATE. THESE . HORRIBLE. SHOTS.
And what they are doing to our loved ones.
His primary scared/bullied him into taking 2 Modernas and 1 booster, even though I tried everything to beg and plead with him not to.
He’s an intelligent, retired engineer and a staunch conservative…but fell for his drs. Bullying and the fear porn.😡
My heart goes out to all Treepers, your friends and family members who have been affected.
God help us!
Thanks for reading, my friends❤
*coming home, not pork. Sheesh
So sorry to hear, S.
Same boat – waiting for ax.
Prayers up for ya’ll, today and in days ahead. ✝️
Prayers up for ya’ll too, MDB🙏
Thanks❤
“My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.”

May God’s Word encourage greatly today, Southern.
Praying for a full recovery for your beloved husband and for you; being the ‘patient advocate’ for our loved ones is really something these days, so do pace yourself as well.
Thank you so much, Bessie!❤
Yes…every patient needs an advocate these days, for sure!!
You’re exactly right, Bessie. It can be the difference between life/death. I quickly discovered that while my mamma was in/out of hospitals, nursing homes. Patients are absolutely at someone’s mercy.
Everyone needs an advocate for times like these I’ve always thought. There is a fine line to tread as we don’t want nurses, doctors, whoever to treat our beloved families any different from the way they’d treat their own. Which is what I’d stress when speaking to them.
How awful we’ve come to this.
You’re right, B, it’s a whole new ballgame nowadays. Patient advocate work is difficult – anything can happen. And when one is so ill or incapacitated, a loved one needs to step in.
A terrible situation happened to my mamma at her last hospital visit. She had rapidly failing health, mid-eighties. When admitted to her room, the hospitalist came to assess her. She made it clearly known to him that she did not want to be resuscitated for any reason if something went wrong. She also had living will.
He understood, and wrote this in her chart.
Two days later, they called me while I had stepped away, that she had been resuscitated!
When I returned to her room, it was a pitiful sight.
From there she had to go to nursing home for five horrible months.
The only patient advocate I want is my husband, as I would be for him…as long as we are both still on this earth. Or any of my children, though my first born would be a fiery but politic one if needed.
Oh your poor mother!! Oh Della. My surgeon dad would have wiped the floor with them. I guarantee it.
I don’t know what has happened to medical, dare I call it, care? So no one read her chart? I have no words for this…unforgivable abandonment of professional and compassionate care. I’m so sorry for her and for you as well.
It’s sad and frightening about medical care quality.
Not all, but many providers get it wrong today.
It broke my heart for my mamma. But God had His reason(s) for what happened. I accept it.
I recently heard a quote (but can’t recall exactly) from a man at Calvin Institute. Something like:
Believing in Divine Providence is the ability to live without answers until we get to the place where we will live without questions.
I’m resolved to live rest of my days in this manner!
So sorry to hear this, Miss.Della.B
Thank you for your thoughtfulness, Southern.
Life is hard for all, but God is good to all. We only need to trust Him and His ways. He knows best, and will always provide what need – every step of the way until He takes us home to be with Him.
When looking back, I can see His fingerprints over many circumstances, even at the nursing home where my mamma and I were able share Christ with people. After all life is not about us one iota, but all about His kingdom.
Last night I prayed again for you and your precious husband and will in days ahead.
May the Lord bless you, and keep and give His peace. May He shine His face upon you.✝️💕
We’re always here, Southern Heart. I am only now scrolling to see your heartbreaking and righteous comment. I am so so sorry.
The beings (not people…I can’t call them that) who knowingly manufactured these foul substances have bits missing. The most important ones. Souls and hearts.
We all know the Great Healer. And it is to him I offer prayers each night. I will do that with your dear husband in mind this evening. I pray you and he will feel most deeply His presence as your husband is restored to better health.
In the Name of our Beloved Saviour, my friend. 🙏
Thank you so much, Betsy!
I hate this new “hospitalist”thing! We had a lousy one the first part of our stay…rude and uncaring.
He claimed he “wasn’t aware” that my beloved wasn’t eating, and was in delerium!!
It’s your JOB to be aware!
He’s since been replaced by a team that is a 180 degree turn for the better.
My Mama had Alzheimers for 6.5 years. Our gem of an Internist cared for her each day while she was in the hospital.
What a difference!

Second time for those officious, bullying, Stalinist jobsworths.
The British police force have turned into social workers and enforcers. This was going on when we lived there.
I hope the man declined to answer.
…if he said it was a verse from the Koran, I guarantee they’d leave him alone immediately. Muslims are a protected class now in the increasingly Islamic UK.
I am gobsmacked at what GB has become. Coming soon to America.
Guess the best answer when asked the nature of one’s prayer is to reply with our own question “who sent you, the Pharisees or the Sadducees?”
Amen
Amen.
Amen
Amen.
Amen.
