Little Girl, Arise

I was addressing an Assyrian audience on the raising of Jairus’ twelve-year-old daughter by the Lord Jesus Christ, and using the narrative to illustrate how God, through His Word, gives resurrection life to those who are “dead in trespasses and sins.”

I had as my interpreter the incomparable Bedour Hanush Afraim Kassab, but there was one point in the narrative where my audience needed no interpreter. I will explain.

It so happens that Aramaic, spoken by our Lord on earth, is almost identical to Assyrian and there is one small phrase in the story where our English Version presents the very words our Lord spoke to Jairus’ daughter: “Talitha cumi,” or “Little girl, arise.”

Now it also happened that in our audience there was a little Assyrian girl who, like Jairus’ daughter, was twelve years old. As I told of Jairus’ anxiety for his dying daughter and his anguish at the news of her death, the little Assyrian girl could understand nothing; she had to wait until my words were interpreted into Assyrian. But when I got to the words “Talitha cumi” she needed no interpreter. Leaping from her chair she stood looking at me with eager, sparkling eyes, as if to say: “What do you want of me? What can I do now?”

Like Jairus’ daughter, our little girl had heard and understood just those three words and had applied them to herself. So it is with those who have received “life in Christ.” “Dead in trespasses and sins” (Eph. 2:1), they paid little heed to the Word of God (I Cor. 2:14), but one day, by the enabling power of the Holy Spirit, they did take heed and believe some simple gospel passage, like “Christ died for our sins” (I Cor. 15:3) and, applying it to themselves, were “raised to walk in newness of life” (Rom. 6:4).

Nothing would please us more than if some reader should thus apply the gospel of God’s grace to himself and receive eternal life.

Indeed it was, for nineteen years after 9/11, anyone who dares note that there was any Islamic aspect to the 9/11 attacks is smeared, defamed, demonized, and marginalized. Never mind that the 9/11 hijackers and plotters repeatedly referred to Islam in explaining and justifying the attacks. Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and the other 9/11 plotters several years ago penned a lengthy Islamic defense for their actions, which included a closely reasoned explanation of why the 9/11 attacks were justified from the standpoint of Islamic doctrine and belief.

AFTER SURRENDER – WHAT?

“I have finished the work which Thou gavest Me to do.” John xvii. 4

Surrender is not the surrender of the external life, but of the will; when that is done, all is done. There are very few crisis in life; the great crisis is the surrender of the will. God never crushes a man’s will into surrender, He never beseeches him, He waits until the man yields up his will to Him. That battle never needs to be re-fought.

SURRENDER FOR DELIVERANCE: “Come unto Me and I will give you rest.” It is after we have begun to experience what salvation means that we surrender our wills to Jesus for rest. Whatever is perplexing heart or mind is a call to the will – “Come unto Me.” It is a voluntary coming.

SURRENDER FOR DEVOTION: “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself.” The surrender here is of my self to Jesus, my self with His rest at the heart of it. “If you would be My disciple, give up your right to yourself to Me.” Then the remainder of the life is nothing but the manifestation of this surrender. When once the surrender has taken place we never need “suppose” anything. We do not need to care what our circumstances are, Jesus is amply sufficient.

SURRENDER FOR DEATH: John xxi. 18-19 “…another shall gird thee.” Have you learned what it means to be bound for death? Beware of a surrender which you make to God in an ecstasy; you are apt to take it back again. It is a question of being united with Jesus in His death until nothing ever appeals to you that did not appeal to Him.

After surrender – what? The whole of the life after surrender is an aspiration for unbroken communion with God.

1-He looks the other way while Wray conceals, destroys, and reclassifies evidence

3- According to Tom Fitton and Sydney Powell they stated that Barr-zini’s DOJ has worked against them in their respective cases.
4- Barr-zini states that we can’t use the judicial system as a weapon against political opposition then signs off on indicting Steve Bannon on the day Biden gives his acceptance speech.
5- Refused criminal referrals on Comey and McCabe
6- Apparent lack of subjects questioned and when done so were half ass and left a lot to be desired. Mueller interviewed 500 in a sham investigation.
7- Rather than following the evidence wherever it leads, he eliminated political figures as subjects in the investigation.
8- Sucessfully ran out the clock so the entire SpyGate investigation hinges on President Trump being reelected
9- Watched his friends and colleagues get ambushed leaving the White House after President Trump gave his acceptance speech and does not bring charges against the DC Mayor who had her police stand down.
10- Failed to bring Civil Rights charges against the Soros AG in St. Louis for taking away the McClosky’ weapons used in self defense.
11- Has not been very aggressive in stopping the greatest threat to the Republic, mail in voting.
12- Took no action against Vidman for leaking classified information which initiated the impeachment against the President.

Tropical Storm Sally

Serious storm because of where it is hitting and the anticipated slowing of it’s progression as it nears the coast.

As the storm moves up around the 30N latitude line it will hit steering currents coming out of the west that will slow the storms progress as it gradually pushes it from a WNW track to a ENE track. What this means is that those effected will be under the storm for a long time and that those on the coast on the windward side are going to see very high and sustained storm surge. Because of the configuration of the coast and the multiple water ways in the low lying land it will most likely be those in Eastern Louisiana that will see the worst flooding from storm surge. But everyone under this storm are likely to see huge amounts of rainfall with some under the core of the storm possibly seeing 2 feet or more of rainfall in a relatively short period.

Flooding kills more people than wind and so this storm is likely to be very very bad news even if it is only a CAT II when it makes landfall. CAT III will be even worse because of increased storm surge.
