Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

How Full Is Your Assurance?
By Pastor Ricky Kurth
“For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them… That their hearts might be comforted… unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding…” (Col. 2:1,2).
There is nothing worse than running low on assurance! During the gas shortage of the ‘70s, I was traveling from Illinois to Minnesota for a fishing trip with my father, when we began to run low on fuel. As we looked for a place to fill up, we were alarmed to find that one gas station after another had posted an “Out of Gas” sign. Suddenly all assurance that we wouldn’t find ourselves stranded along the Interstate was gone!
While the assurance that a full tank of gas can give is a comfortable thing, the assurance of salvation is infinitely and eternally better! No wonder the Apostle Paul was willing to endure “great conflict” for the saints to whom he ministered, that their hearts might be comforted by “the full assurance” that can be ours with a proper “understanding” of how simple faith saves us in the dispensation of grace (Col. 2:1,2).
But as we rightly divide the Word of truth (II Tim. 2:15), we find that to obtain the assurance of salvation, God required more than just faith of the Hebrews. In Hebrews 10:22, for instance, we read:
“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.”
Here we see that in a day when God required water baptism for the remission of sins (Mark 1:4; 16:16; Acts 2:38; I Pet. 3:21), Hebrews could not enjoy “full assurance of faith” unless their bodies were “washed with pure water.” Of course! While men have always been saved by faith, when God required certain works as an expression of that faith, there could be no salvation without a performance of whatever work He required (1), and no assurance apart from that expression of faith.
We see this again in I John 3:17-19:
“But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?… let us not love in word…but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we… shall assure our hearts before Him.”
Clearly, if John’s readers wanted to assure their hearts, they had to express their faith by sharing “this world’s good” (things like food and clothing) with fellow Hebrews in need of these things. Here it must be remembered that John wrote these words with the coming Great Tribulation in view (2). After the Beast issues his mark, many Hebrews will find themselves unable to buy this world’s good without it (Rev. 13:17). Thus God has ordained that men seeking salvation in that day must express their faith by helping Hebrews in need (James 2:14-17 cf. Matt. 25:31-46). Under this arrangement, there can be no salvation without these works, and no assurance of salvation apart from these mandatory expressions of faith.
Nor could this brotherly benevolence be a one-time occurrence. Such charity will have to be maintained throughout the duration of the Tribulation, as we see in Hebrews 6:10,11:
“For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love…in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end.”
The words “unto the end” here help us understand the meaning of verses like Matthew 24:13, where Hebrews were told, “He that endureth to the end shall be saved.” In a day when “the love of many shall wax cold” (v. 12), true believers will maintain their love for their brethren by continuing to supply them with this world’s goods all the way to the end of the Tribulation. Of course, this will become increasingly difficult as Daniel’s seventieth week wears on, especially since true believers will themselves be unable to buy food or clothing without taking the mark. No wonder these Hebrews are exhorted to “shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end.” There can be no assurance of salvation in that day without continuing in these necessary expressions of faith.
How then can believers today enjoy “the full assurance” Paul described in our text? Well, notice that Paul speaks of “the full assurance of understanding” (Col. 2:2). To attain the full assurance of salvation today, in the dispensation of grace, God does not ask us to do something, He asks us to understand something. And He doesn’t leave us guessing as to what it is we must understand, for Paul goes on to talk about “the acknowledgment of the mystery” (2:2). The only way to enjoy the full assurance of faith today is to acknowledge that the mystery has introduced an era in which works are no longer required as expressions of faith. There can be no assurance of salvation without an “understanding” and an “acknowledgment” of this dispensational change.
Many suspect that the gas shortage of the ‘70s was man-made, designed to drive up the price of gasoline. While we know nothing of this, we do know that if you are suffering from a shortage of assurance, it is a man-made shortage, caused by men (perhaps wellmeaning men) who taught you God’s Word without rightly dividing it. But we trust that the “understanding” we have shared in this article will enable you to rejoice with us in “all riches of the full assurance of understanding.”

(1) Except when this was impossible, as with the thief on the cross
(2) The Hebrew epistles were written to 1st century Hebrews to instruct them as to how to be saved and enjoy the assurance of faith, even amid the terrors of the Tribulation. Had the dispensation of grace not interrupted God’s prophetic program, these people would have lived to see that terrible time. Even after the mystery was introduced, it was thought that the Rapture would take place quickly (as Paul’s use of the word “we” in I Thessalonians 4:15,17 indicates) and that the time of Jacob’s trouble would then come upon them
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Colossians 2:1 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
2Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
1Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
1John 3:17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
Revelation13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
“But as we rightly divide the Word of truth (II Tim. 2:15), we find that to obtain the assurance of salvation, God required more than just faith of the Hebrews. In Hebrews 10:22, for instance, we read:
“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.” Here we see that in a day when God required water baptism for the remission of sins (Mark 1:4; 16:16; Acts 2:38; I Pet. 3:21), Hebrews could not enjoy “full assurance of faith” unless their bodies were “washed with pure water.”
In a time where the issue had been raised of salvation itself carrying requirements such as works of the law (cf. Acts 15), Paul made clear to Peter, Barnabas and others what was true of both Jews and Gentiles:
Galatians 2:15-16 “We Jews by birth and not ‘sinners’ of the Gentiles, nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by works of law, except through faith from Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith from Christ, and not by works of the Law, because by works of the Law not any flesh will be justified.”
That and what follows in the Galatians letter indicate a specific delineation for both Jews and Gentiles between works / “required” physical acts and salvation by grace through faith according to the promise (cf. Galatians 3:29, Eph. 3:6). There are practices that have a place in the walk of a believer under the covenant of promise, just as there were for those under the conditional Mosaic covenant. It is shown that though its institution related to the knowledge of the reality of sin (cf. Galatians 3:19, Romans 3:20), the Mosaic covenant did not supersede the covenant of promise under which both Jews and Gentiles are saved (cf. Galatians 3:17-18, 26-29).
Per John 5:24, Jesus said: “Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.” When Jesus was asked “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent” (cf. John 6:28-29). It is good to consider both how Christ’s words point to the timing of one’s salvation as well as what work (singular) is required directly relating to salvation.
“While men have always been saved by faith, when God required certain works as an expression of that faith, there could be no salvation without a performance of whatever work He required (except when this was impossible, as with the thief on the cross), and no assurance apart from that expression of faith.”
James 2:22-24 makes a point regarding works and justification as it related to Abraham’s willingness to offer Isaac (cf. James 2:21): “You see that his faith was working with his works, and by his works, his faith was perfected. And the Scripture was fulfilled, saying, “And Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God. You see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone.”
The verse quoted from Genesis 15:6 is well before the occasion with Isaac and the altar. Was Abram / Abraham’s personal salvation in question over all the years until that occasion? Let’s see what points Paul sought to establish regarding issues of timing and place related to salvation, faith, and works.
In Romans 4:2-3, Paul appears to disabuse us of the notion that salvation was bestowed as a result of successful keeping and execution of works rather than a gift a God by grace through faith: “For if Abraham was justified by works, he has ground of boasting, but not toward God. For what does the Scripture say? ‘And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness.’”
The same verse (originally from Genesis 15:6) was cited in Galatians 3:6, after Paul asked the believers there to consider if God’s work in them and gifts for them were “out of works of the Law, or out of hearing of faith”. Viewing the greater context of Scripture, the usage by James appears to go towards validating the place of good works as it connects to a believer’s faith bearing out in reality.
After Paul points out in Ephesians 2:8-10 that believers were saved “not as a result of works” but by grace through faith, the place is affirmed of “good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”. Titus 2:11-14 and 3:5-8 additionally appear to serve as an encouragement towards pursuing good works following a reiteration of how believers are saved and are justified.

A strange problem that I am having with the Treehouse. I normally use Firefox but half the time, it is not updating the main page. This happens with Firefox on both Linux and Win 10.
However, on my Linux box, Opera works just fine which is how I’m posting. On Firefox, I can’t even see the overnight thread or any new posts.
But another strange quirk. On the Win 10 box, Opera is acting just like Firefox and not showing newer post. I really can’t figure out what would be causing the page to not update. Clearing the cache doesn’t help. Just FYI.
Things have been sorting themselves out fairly well for me using Firefox on Win 10, but I did make one change which may have helped.
Under Options>General>Network Settings (way at the bottom) I opened the connection settings and changed the provider under the Enable DNS over HTTPS from NextDNS to Cloudflare. Things seemed to start working smoother after that.
I vaguely recall changing that setting in the first place because I was having trouble accessing archive.today and it’s alternates.
Thanks for the info. Sadly, it didn’t work for me.
In Firefox, only the older post are showing from earlier today. It’s strange as the Linux version of Opera works fine; just like normal.
Thanks for the tip, luckily I have a Linux desktop. I’m having the above problems on my phone.
The only way I have found to get to current posts is to Google (I know, I know) The Conservative Treehouse. I get a link in first search it, same issue, but below that are little boxes featuring the most recent posts. If I click on the box with the post I want to read it goes directly to it in the current page of comments.
I’ll switch to my Linux desktop until the bugs are worked out.
Hi, Fl Guy,
I use Firefox on Win 10 and was having the same issue. A post from yesterday suggested refreshing the page using shift+F5 (not just the reload on the address bar). So far, it’s working for me today. May have to refresh again later or tomorrow, too. Hope this helps.

Should have been fn+f5.

Has anyone seen this recent video by LegalEagle on Youtube criticising Trump’s lawsuits and how they are going to fail / don’t know what they are doing?:
The guy’s a lib. Pass.
Interestingly though, he seems to have a video criticising the legitimacy of COVID measures.
But even if he were reasonable on that issue, the video I linked to is weird – from saying the reason Giuliani dyes his hair is due to Neurolinguistic Programming to appeal to Trump, to saying that Dominion can’t be malicious because Chavez died in 2013, to still complaining that Trump’s attorneys didn’t reveal any evidence to the public.
John, he is not the first person to critique Trump’s legal team. The first time I heard about this was very shortly after the election, on a podcast where a couple of guys who were former Trump supporters, said that all the legal brouhaha was just an effort to grift and keep the money rolling in, that nothing effective legally would be done in the end.
The second time I heard the critique was over the weekend, when Jason Goodman interviewed the attorney Jared Beck. For those not familiar, Beck sued the DNC on behalf of Bernie supporters who had been ripped off. His process server, Shawn Lucas, died under mysterious circumstances. Jared has a very cynical take on the whole thing, based on his own experience.

Mornin’ infidels!
Afternoon WeeWeed.
Sorry, Wee, if I’m asking an already answered question, but I’m no longer getting email alerts for new posts, at least I haven’t over last couple days, and I thought the site might be experiencing problems. Yet, lo and behold, I found you! How do I get my email alerts back? I’ve been searching around the new Treehouse, but am apparently lost on a branch somewhere.
Thanks!
PS Good to see everyone again!!!!!
Hi 17,
Alerts are broken since the server move. They are high on the “To-Do” list it seems, along with a mobile version of the site, likes, and a new avatar solution. Those seem to be the top four requests at the moment.
Long time no see, fellow appreciator of MS Natural Pro 2000 keyboards. (and cats) ?
Coolio! Thanks for the update. Have been feeling lonely out in cyberspace without my daily CTH fix!!! Lol!
Well there you are,we miss you next door.

Excellent cartoon….and accurate!
Good Evening, WeeWeed!
Hello fellow treepers. I have an issue with the new website. I’m trying to bookmark it and I did right after the switch to the new server. Now, it always directs me to December 2. I hit home button and it still gives me December 2 article. The only way I can get new posts is by hitting directly on them on Sundance’s twitter feed. The link to the conservative treehouse from the twitter feed leads me to December 2 again. What am I doing wrong? I’m afraid if they knock Sundance off twitter, I’ll never find this site again!
12/03/2020 at 2:52 pm EST reply to Qbinky: I think this has been fixed now. A Dec 2nd article was showing above Dec 3rd postings. Maybe try again by clearing all your history first and then entering https:// [remove space] theconservativetreehouse [remove space] .com/ and if that displays correctly then bookmark just the baseline address.
Yesterday I had no issue landing on the December 2nd homepage using my bookmark. Today it still takes me to December 2nd even after clearing cookies, cache, etc. HOWEVER I discovered if I googled (duckduckgo listed yesterday’s homepage) I could select December 3rd’s Presidential thread (w/o comments) THEN clicked a Recent Comment on the right side. All the comments come up. If I click Home (with my ruby slippers) from there it still takes me to December 2nd’s homepage. I will remain tenacious until either I or Sundance get it worked out. Thankful to be here no matter how I got here.

Dear Idiot attorney from GA SoS office,
Laws are NOTHING if not enforced, and especially when illegal side deals are made behind closed doors.
As the guy who is running this said you are inside the silo. You have NO CLUE what a sh1tsh0w GA is to Georgians or the rest of the world.
Sit down.
Tell me about it. As LEA one of the things you learn is that the raft of enforceable laws is so large that no one can possibly learn them all and even the ones one uses most often are subject to being unenforced by rank or politicians at various levels. I’d argue that, in any given state, many of the laws on the books are useless as they’re passed as a knee jerk reaction to public pressure and then just left to molder.
Right now there’s a huge move to redefine many laws, especially violent ones, on ‘intent’. Since we can’t seem to legislate or beg civilized behaviors in certain groups and certain groups are ‘disproportionately’ (proof of a systemically corrupt system right there) we have to look at the perp’s intent at committing the crime as a mitigating factor. You think the courtroom’s an exercise in creative writing now, you just wait…
Just trying to post a picture.
When I call up the home page, it doesn’t show today’s entries.
So I use search with today’s date.
Search gives links that I can use to get to the site. Even after I do that, the home page still won’t be updated.
And, the search shows the total comments. But when I go to the page, most of the comments fail to show.
Checking later in the day, even though search shows the number of comments has grown, the small number I actually get to see doesn’t grow.
And I still can’t get the home page updated.
These problems don’t occur for other websites. Otherwise, it might be something weird from the web browser.
The same thing happens on my android phone using Brave as well as my Surface Pro using Edge.
Hope this helps identify and fix the cause of the issues.
My reply at 4:08 pm EST
Jim in TN: They’ve fixed the homepage displaying (at least it now works on my Windows 7 laptop). What I’ve found is that to view comments, go to the address bar and remove anything showing past the final forward slash so the address bar shows just this:
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/12/03/thursday-december-3rd-open-thread/
I don’t think the “Reload this page” and “Older Comments” features are working correctly at this time. When a comment is posted or when you try to go to a previous page or return to a later comment page, since the page reloads, it is not showing things correctly. They are also missing a “Newer Comments” button.
Here’s a workaround to try:
1__Where there are multiple pages of comments, click the “Older Comments” button
2__Go to the address bar to see what page you’re now on.
3__Change that page number to the one you want to view and it will take you to that page of comments (forwards or backwards).
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/12/03/comrade-garcetti-orders-all-la-residents-to-remain-in-their-homes-indefinitely-orders-lapd-enforcement/comment-page-2/#comments CHANGE page-2 to say page-1 or page-3, etc.
They’ll get this fixed soon I’m sure. Just working out all the little “glitches” that happen with a move of this size.
I’m on an iPad but I have the same problem. Each time I go to the website it goes to Nov. 29. I then click on The Last Refuge, upper left above the header (?) which directs me to the current webpage. I know it’s not right but it works.

The MSM’s pretty much just not covering it but political, economic and especially the COVID conditions in Central America are forcing an immigration issue that threatens to swamp (OK, small pun intended) Biden’s immigration agenda.
He has said he’ll rollback Trumps’s executive orders on immigration, stop construction on The Wall and provide a path for citizenship for tens of thousands of immigrants camped out on the border – the latter the source of illegal Democratic votes for a long time.
Trump will have set something of a trap for Biden in that if Old Joe takes it slowly, carefully and compensates for the problems their flooding in would create he risks incurring the ire of Rat Latinx activists who are eager to increase their strangle hold on the Party. If he is too quick in releasing Las Krakens he risks angering the black portion of the Party that see dark days ahead for a Party dominated by Latinx and white. He also faces the risk of reinvigorating the Conservatives who may be suffering from patriot fatigue after spending 4 years fighting the political trogs. More interesting times.
Prior to the Treehouse move to the new host (I believe I’m saying that correctly) I received emails every time a new post went up! Now, I’m not only not getting the emails any more, but I can’t see where to sign up again! Help!
That option (if we can get it) isn’t set up yet. Hopefully in the future.
lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do you, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Amen
Amen.
amen.
I just totally deleted my “wordpress” account! I feel great!
Dateline is running a special on the development of the COVID vaccine, they’re interviewing the CEOs of the three front runner companies who’ll be bringing out their products in time for Biden to claim victory.
Interesting was Dateline ran a little piece on how Fauci decvlared we’d have a vaccine ready in 100 days and they ‘awwed’ him. They next ran a piece on how Trump declared that there’d be a vaccine by election day and the CEOs said that when they heard that they joined hands and let the press and the American people know that science would dictate the release of the vaccine and not politics. I’m a known paranoid but after their announcement the vaccine release would be dictated by science we see the release after the election but before the inauguration. Just sayin’.
Also of interest was the CEO of one company saying it was already working on a vaccine, not necessarily a COVID vaccine, last Fall…you know, about the time Gates and his crew of doomdayers had the big pre-pandemic pandemic meeting?
No one asked the question I was answered (with the answerer on a polygraph): why, after all of the hullabaloo over SARS-1 (it shares over 80% genome commonality with COVID) was a SARA-1 vaccine not developed? This vaccine takes a bit of the genome from the COVID and uses it to make the body kicvk in its immune system. I ain’t no mathematician but if SARS-1 and SARS-2 share over 80% genetic commonality couldn’t one have taken the vaccine from the portion of each virus’s commonality?
SARS-1 had a fatality rate much greater than COVID yet we get a push for a vaccine now and nothing then? Stranger than strange.
Interesting point Dateline brought up was that fewer than 30% of the black community says it will be vaccinated and over 30% of the nurses surveyed said they won’t get it. Sorta like in my major hospital where each flu season you see a lot of nurses and other staff wearing masks for a prescribed period as they refused to get a flu shot.
