Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

“Thankful Hearts”
Needs a little work.
The only time that statue will be as ‘hot’ as our FLOTUS is after it’s been out in the scorching sun all day.
Was this a joke?
I saw the photos of the allegedly “burned” statue a few days back.
This looks just like it.
Nice! Thank you.
HAPPY BENCH MONDAY….

President Trump… without a doubt.
President Trump… without a doubt.
President Trump… without a doubt.
President George Washington (although I do love Jesus and Thomas Jefferson as well)!
I have been to President Washington’s home many times and I still have so many questions about his life (hate to bug the docents with so many of them). It is my favorite place to go in / around DC when we have a day to spend out there.

A Compelling Reason
By Pastor Ricky Kurth
“I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing” (II Cor. 12:11).
The Apostle Paul did not like to “glory” or boast about his apostleship. He would much rather spend his time teaching the great truths of the Mystery, and the Word of God, rightly divided. However, the immaturity of the Corinthians “compelled” him to such boasting. They were so impressed with the boasting of the “false apostles” (11:13) that Paul was forced to speak to them in the only language they seemed to understand—that of boasting.
Grace believers are often accused of boasting too much about the apostleship of Paul, and to this we plead guilty. We too would much rather spend our time teaching the great truths of the Word of God, rightly divided. However, the sorry state of modern Christianity is such that we too are “compelled” to boast about Paul’s apostleship. The immaturity of contemporary Christianity has caused them to overlook Paul as “the apostle of the Gentiles” (Rom. 11:13), and presents us with a compelling reason to emphasize his apostleship.
Paul found the Corinthian situation especially disappointing, since as he told them, “I ought to have been commended of you.” As the one who had begotten them in the gospel (I Cor. 4:15), they should have been singing the praises of his apostleship, instead of forcing him to defend it. And so it is today. All who are saved in the dispensation of Grace are saved by grace through faith apart from works (Eph. 2:8,9), a gospel that is exclusive to the Apostle Paul. And so in a very real sense, all who are saved today are begotten of the Apostle Paul, and should be singing the praises of his apostleship, instead of forcing us to defend it.
The false apostles in Corinth were probably protesting, “Why, Paul isn’t even one of the twelve apostles! We have as much authority as he has!” This forced Paul to declare that he was “not a whit behind” the very chiefest apostles, i.e., James, Peter and John. But if Paul only claimed he wasn’t “behind” the twelve apostles, why do we insist on emphasizing his epistles ahead of the epistles of James, Peter and John?
Ah, Paul’s apostleship was equal to theirs, but he was the apostle of a different group of people. As he told the Galatians, “He that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles” (2:8). All state governors are equal in authority; no governor is a whit behind any other. However, if I am wise, I must recognize the authority of the governor of my state. And if we are wise as Christians, we must likewise recognize the authority of “the apostle of the Gentiles.”
https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/a-compelling-reason/
2 Corinthians 12:11 I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.
2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
Romans 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Galatians 2:7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
“However, the sorry state of modern Christianity is such that we too are “compelled” to boast about Paul’s apostleship. The immaturity of contemporary Christianity has caused them to overlook Paul as “the apostle of the Gentiles” (Rom. 11:13), and presents us with a compelling reason to emphasize his apostleship.”
“Contemporary Christianity” is quite the broad brush. A healthy understanding of authentic Christianity includes the knowledge of that appellation in proper context. Sticking with the Pauline elevation propensity, how does the above call to emphasize Paul’s apostleship reconcile with the fact that the apostles/New Testament writers by and large did so at a time where salvation for all by grace through faith (cf. Acts 10-11, 15) was the message being shared with both Jews and Gentiles?
To whom was Peter writing in his second epistle — and teaching inspired doctrine — when he addressed “those having obtained a faith equally precious with ours” (cf. 2 Peter 1)? Could it be the same group to whom John acted to provide certain insights in his Gospel account, e.g. “Jews have no association with Samaritans” (cf. John 4:9) and to whom Luke gave details about the Feast of Unleavened Bread that non-Jews might not have known (cf. Luke 22:1, 7), or to whom James’ brother Jude sought to write “concerning our common salvation” (cf. Jude 1:3) in like manner to Paul’s writing to Gentile Titus about “our common faith” (cf. Titus 1:4)?
Could it be that all of those “New Testament writers” might actually be of sufficient importance to the body of Christ then and now, especially using the rationale espoused concerning those who wrote for both Jews and Gentiles? And maybe that might even go for those Old Testament writers who Paul keeps quoting — to Gentile audiences, yet — to whom the Bereans kept referring and whose inspired “sacred writings” Paul told Timothy are “able to make you wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (cf. 2 Timothy 3:15) and thus would be of great relevance to believers at that time and now. Just as Peter found value in pointing believers to Paul’s writings, Paul did so in pointing Timothy to the whole of Scripture (cf. 2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Speaking of the time of New Testament writings, Paul used his letters to pass along detailed teaching to churches already having receiving the gospel message, which would have been the case in largely Gentile Rome. Something that marked the Roman church was that Paul evidently did not establish it. When Paul spoke directly to “you, the Gentiles in Rome” about being the apostle of the Gentiles, and even of magnifying his ministry (cf. Romans 11:3), was it to inform them that they did not have the true gospel (and thus, salvation) before they heard from him?
For example, had Cornelius of the Italian Cohort (cf. Acts 10:1) been in Rome at the time (or have been part of stating the church there), would his takeaway been that Paul was bringing a message of salvation separate and distinct from what Peter had shared with him and others by divine inspiration as recorded in Acts 10 and 11? Or is it possible that he singled out his current field of concentration (cf. Galatians 2:7-9) for a further point to be made?
On occasion, Paul did feel compelled to assert his credentials to counter those who falsely “proclaimed another Jesus whom we did not proclaim” and “a different gospel” (cf. 2 Cor. 12:4). Here, Paul’s purpose in sharing a central aspect of his ministry (which also included the sons of Israel per Acts 9:15) does not appear to center around using its magnification in contrast to other true ongoing ministries, which was especially germane when addressing a group of believers who likely would have heard the gospel preached from someone other than Paul at that point.
Note that the quoted verse continued with a specified intent: “if at all I shall provoke to jealousy my own flesh, and shall save some of them” (Romans 11:14). This indicates that the magnification of his ministry was done for the benefit of his kinsmen who are “beloved on account of the patriarchs” (cf. Romans 11:28), which corresponds with God’s salvific purposes also spoken of the previous chapter: “”I will provoke you to jealousy by those not a nation; I will anger you by a nation without understanding”” (cf. Romans 10:19, Deut. 32:21).
“Ah, Paul’s apostleship was equal to theirs, but he was the apostle of a different group of people. As he told the Galatians, “He that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles” (2:8).”
What has been consistently pointed out regarding Galatians 2:7-9 appears to correspond with designating fields of specialization of gospel ministry. It’s worthwhile to consider if it were meant to be shown that Peter — and specifically, the gospel message he shared — was either different in its essence (salvation by grace through faith) or not suitable to come from him to Gentiles, why such a point was made to show that it was from him and not Paul that a clear gospel message shared unto to salvation to Gentiles (cf. Acts 10, 11).
Further, not only is it preeminently highlighted as it is in the Scriptural timeline, consider that Scripture captured Peter’s words about the Gentiles and his sharing the sameness of the method of salvation at the Jerusalem Council (cf. Acts 15:7-11). Though not recorded in quotation form, what “Barnabas and Paul” related following Peter’s words complemented what Peter had said there and also previously to “the apostles and the brothers being in Judea” (cf. Acts 11:1-18).
Notably, all of this not only goes to the notion of not elevating one apostle over others as far as the message itself, but to the later issue that arose in Corinth of divisions and quarrels saying that Paul rebuked” “Now I mean this, that each of you says, “I indeed am of Paul,” and “I of Apollos,” and “I of Cephas,” and “I of Christ”” (1 Cor. 1 :12). In reply, “Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas,c or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come—all are yours, and you of Christ, and Christ of God” (1 Cor. 3:21-23).
Paul also spoke in 1 Cor. 3 of those making such distinctions as being fleshly, while noting that though each had certain functions and servants and fellow workers, “neither the one planting nor the one watering is anything, but only God, the One giving growth” (cf. 1 Cor. 3:7, 1-9). Returning to the fields of specialization of the workers, Paul also had a credential issue evidently exploited by some into a credibility gap. At first, the corners had to do with his having been a persecutor (Acts 9:13-14, 26). Later, it may well have had to do with his not being of those who walked with the Lord and bore witness to having known Him during His earthly ministry and / or after Christ’s resurrection before His ascension into Heaven.
Acts 4:13-16 has indications of how such a relationship could have been of value at that time: “Now seeing the boldness of Peter and of John, and having understood that they are unschooled and ordinary men, they were astonished. And they recognized them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man having been healed standing with them, they had nothing to contradict. But having commanded them to go outside the Council, they began to confer with one another, saying, “What shall we do to these men? For truly that a noteworthy sign has come to pass through them is evident to all those inhabiting Jerusalem, and we are not able to deny it.”
Paul and Peter worked with both Jews and Gentiles. Paul’s choice as vessel by Jesus to carry His name Gentiles evidently included the “sons of Israel” in the same statement (cf. Acts 9:15). Yet, “[f]orasmuch as both Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek wisdom” per 1 Cor. 1:22, where each was going to prioritize their ministry area of focus as far as the Jews and the Gentiles became evident.
The “unschooled and ordinary” nevertheless had valuable eyewitness testimony from Peter, the other apostles, and other disciples who had such a testimony that could evidently could be effective with Jews. Meanwhile, the one who apparently would have been regarded as well-educated by Jews and Gentiles and evidently freely quoted worldly poets in the center of intellectual culture per Acts 17, Titus 1, etc. (and didn’t have the eyewitness testimony) figured to work effectively in the Gentile area of concentration.
Paul’s background also worked effectively for the purpose of further insights via in-depth letters on theological concepts etc. to be distributed to the entire church body — which of course is made up of different but essential parts, all towards the same purpose for the one body. However, the essential gospel message and the further revelation of insights related to the Gentiles being joint-heirs etc. with the Jews by grace through faith (cf. Eph 3:1-9) did not negate the essentials that Peter preached and communicated to the other apostles and brothers, being amongst those to whom it had “been revealed in the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets” (cf. Eph. 3:5).
There is possible evidence of a similar consideration of effectiveness with Timothy at different times. As he was taught from his youth from “the sacred writings”, and also evidently had mixed parentage of Greek Gentile father and Jewish mother, Timothy was taken by Paul on ministry journeys and acted to ensure Timothy would be allowed initially fellowship opportunities with the Jews (cf. Acts 16:1-4). Later, Timothy’s Greek heritage may have been of benefit to Gentiles who would share a measure of a common background.

Surfing photography sites today I ran across this re bluebonnets…
Love it!
That is one of my pets!
Here’s another…
Used to live in Texas, off a “bluebonnet trail.” In the spring, we had to be real careful because folks from the ‘big city’ would FLOCK to the area to get photos of themselves/their kids in the flowers. It was as though when they’d see the flowers, their ability to PARK SAFELY would immediately leave them – they’d have their cars partially blocking the roadway! My favorite ‘mix’ was bluebonnets, evening primrose, and a little bit of Indian paintbrush: blue, light pink, and bright orange. An example:
That’s lovely.

“A young man with his pants hanging half off his rear, two gold front teeth, and a half inch thick gold chain around his neck, walked into the local welfare office to pick up his check.
He marched up to the counter and said, “Hi. You know, I just HATE drawing welfare. I’d really rather have a job. I don’t like taking advantage of the system, getting something for nothing.”
The social worker behind the counter said “Your timing is excellent. We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful daughter you’ll have to drive around in his 2019 Mercedes-Benz CL, and he will supply all of your clothes.”
“Because of the long hours, meals will be provided. You’ll also be expected to escort the daughter on her overseas holiday trips. This is rather awkward to say, but you will also have, as part of your job, the assignment to satisfy her sexual urges as the daughter is in her mid-20’s and has a rather strong sex drive.”
The guy, just plain wide-eyed, said, “You’re bull-shittin’ me!”
The social worker said, “Yeah, well . . . You started it . . . . “
nimrodman that made me really Laugh Out Loud!
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.
Amen.

The largest wild fire in US history. The Great Fire of 1910
https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5444731.pdf
The fire burned out more than 3 million acres along the border between Idaho and Montana. That burn area exceeds the total annual wildfire burn area for the US we see most years now days even when one includes Alaska and Hawaii. The majority of the acreage burned in a period of just 6 hours.
This is just one example of several I can provide of huge wildfires that occurred long before the supposed human caused climate change began. And the thing is NASA GISS claims that US temperatures were colder back then. (They weren’t according to the actual temperature records as recorded at the time but NASA has adjusted the temperature record using various excuses such as time of observation to show cooler temperatures in the past.)

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 ¶ I would not brethren, have you ignorant concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus is dead, and is risen, even so them which sleep in Jesus, will God bring with Him.
15 For this say we unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which live, and are remaining in the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent them which sleep.
16 For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, and with the voice of the Archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then shall we which live and remain, be caught up with them also in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore, comfort yourselves one another with these words.
Troublesome times are here, filling men’s hearts with fear
Freedom we all hold dear now is at stake
Humbling your hearts to God saves from the chastening rod
Seek the way pilgrims trod, Christians awake
Jesus is coming soon, morning or night or noon
Many will meet their doom, trumpets will sound
All of the dead shall rise, righteous meet in the skies
Going where no one dies, heavenward bound
Troubles will soon be o’er, happy forevermore
When we meet on that shore, free from all care
Rising up in the sky, telling this world goodbye
Homeward we then shall fly, glory to share
Oh, Jesus is coming soon, morning or night or noon
Many will meet their doom, trumpets will sound
All of the dead shall rise, righteous meet in the skies
Going where no one dies, heavenward bound
Jesus is coming soon, morning or night or noon
Many will meet their doom, trumpets will sound
All of the dead shall rise, righteous meet in the skies
Going where no one dies, heavenward bound
Heavenward bound, heavenward bound
Humbling your heart to God saves you the chastening rod
Thanks P!

To go with the post on the wild fire above.
It appears we’re entering a strong La Nina cycle. What that means for the west US is dry conditions and winds that are more powerful and persistent coming off the Pacific.
California is most susceptible because their forest management has been the worst over the last few decades and there is no way they can correct all of the problems their “green” policies have caused in just a year or two. And because they have failed to build enough reservoirs to maintain adequate water supplies in such conditions.
Prepare for whining and crying about climate change despite the fact that even alarmist “scientists” admit that the ENSO cycles are natural and not connected to human activity. https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/ninonina.html#:~:text=The%20ENSO%20cycle%20is%20a%20scientific%20term%20that,the%20International%20Date%20Line%20and%20120%20degrees%20West%29.

Exodus 20:1-17
1 Then God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have none other gods before Me.
4 Thou shalt make thee no graven image, neither any similitude of things that are in heaven above, neither that are in the earth beneath, nor that are in the waters under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down to them, neither serve them: for I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third generation and upon the fourth of them that hate Me:
6 And showing mercy unto thousands to them that love Me, and keep My commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His Name in vain.
8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work,
10 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maid, nor thy beast, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.
11 For in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: therefore the Lord blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it.
12 ¶ Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be prolonged upon the land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
13 ¶ Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his ass, neither anything that is thy neighbor’s.

Read THIS story about a disabled vet who was attacked by a BLM rioter. When his attacker was choking him, Jake Gardner fired over his own shoulder, striking his attacker in the neck, killing him.
At first, prosecuters ruled it a righteous, self-defense shooting. BUT, after pressure from the SAME BLM RIOTERS, the locals caved and charged Jake with murder (among other things)

Another Trump supporter casualty of the ongoing cold civil war:
“A Nebraska bar owner (white) that killed a rioter (black) who was attacking him and his business in Omaha committed suicide soon after a federal arrest warrant was put out for him. The bar owner, Jake Gardner, was indicted by a grand jury on four counts…. manslaughter, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, attempted first-degree assault, and making terrorist threats after intense political pressure was placed on the city. The local district attorney (white) had originally ruled it was self defense.
On May 30, the 38-year-old Gardner confronted a group of rioters outside a bar he owns in Omaha and was knocked to the ground. From there, he fired two warning shots and tried to get to his feet, prosecutors said. As he did, Gardner got into a fight with one man, James Scurlock, 22. The two scuffled before Gardner fired a shot that killed him.
Douglas County District Court Judge Shelly Stratman then appointed a special council, Fredrick Franklin (black), an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Omaha, to handle the case though they said they expected the same outcome.
“The manslaughter charge”, Franklin said, “is related to Scurlock’s death; the attempted assault charge resulted from the second warning shot Gardner fired; the charge of making terrorist threats is linked to a verbal confrontation that Gardner had with Scurlock”.
Yes, the Burn Loot Murder mob has friends in high places.
Burn Loot Murder mob? That’s good. That’s REALLY good. And they DO have friends in high places. And the hoi polloi dwelling in lower places FEAR them because they can seemingly burn, loot and murder with impunity

I apologize to everyone because what I did with that prayer was wrong. I changed my original word from ‘We’ to ‘I’ so that whomever read those words would be ‘tricked into’ [the only way to view that change] praying for Mr. Soros.
I hope everyone who reads that prayer will choose to pray it as their own and not think of it as being just “P’s” prayer. Please forgive my dishonesty.

Mr. Cash certainly repented and let Christ into his life, and I can completely relate. Another story for another time.
Duchess makes sure Christ is here with us at CTH every morning (without fail), and P had a great post about repenting this morning.

MISSIONARY PREDESTINATIONS
“And now, saith the Lord, that formed me from the womb to be His servant. Isaiah xlix. 5
The first thing that happens after we have realized our election to God in Christ Jesus is the destruction of our prejudices and our parochial notions and our patriotisms; we are turned into servants of God’s own purpose. The whole human race was created to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Sin has switched the human race on to another tack, but it has not altered God’s purpose in the tiniest degree; and when we are born again we are brought into the realization of God’s great purpose for the human race, viz., I am created for God, He made me. This realization of the election of God is the most joyful realization on earth, and we have to learn to rely on the tremendous creative purpose of God. The first thing God will do with us is to “force through the channels of a single heart” the interests of the whole world. The love of God, the very nature of God, is introduced into us, and the nature of Almighty God is focused in John iii. 16 – “GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD…”
We have to maintain our soul open to the fact of God’s creative purpose, and not muddle it with our own intentions. If we do, God will have to crush our intentions on one side however much it may hurt. The purpose for which the missionary is created is that he may be God’s servant, one in whom God is glorified. When once we realize that through the salvation of Jesus Christ we are made perfectly fit for God, we shall understand why Jesus Christ is so ruthless in His demands. He demands absolute rectitude from His servants, because He has put into them the very nature of God.
Beware lest you forget God’s purpose for your life.

About 12:30 pm today, I sent an email to Rush saying I thought he was wrong. That if Collins, Murkowski, and Romney all abstained, the Republicans still only needed 48 votes to confirm the nominee. Five minutes after I sent the email, Rush says “Over the break I received a message from a good friend, one of the best legal minds in the country, saying that if Collins, Murkowski, and Romney all abstain, the Republicans only need 48 votes to confirm the nominee”. Coincidence?
I would love to hear more about how this would work as it applies to Senate rules, how a “majority” is counted, etc. If you could provide an explanation or link ot one, that would be fantastic. Thanks in Advance.
It’s really simple/. There are 100 Senators, a simple majority is needed for court nominations. Let’s say 3 Republican Senators abstain, then a majority is 100 – 3 or 97/2 = 48 1/2 . You always need to raise it to the next whole number, in this case 49 votes. 49 votes is the majority when 3 Republicans abstain and all other (97) Senators vote.
If instead of abstaining they vote against, a majority is 100/2 plus 1 or 51. Adding the 3 no votes to the Democrats is 50, so it is a 50/50 tie, but VP Pense can cast the 51st vote for the Republicans.
The case I suggested was that all 47 Democrats and Independents vote no. That is 47 No votes. All the Republicans have to do is get 48 Yes votes to win.
I think you are wrong. The rule states 51 votes, not 51% of votes cast.
Where is that rule? All I can find is simple majority.
Yes you are correct. It is very obscure to find whether 100 members are required to vote.
Everywhere you look it says “the full Senate” and refers to 100 votes. But those websites are adding language that is not in the Constitution.
William Rehnquist was confirmed as an Associate Justice on Dec. 11, 1971 with a 68-26 vote which totals only 94 votes. So unless some other law was passed that is not in Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 (which only requires the “consent” of the Senate – a simple majority) we must conclude that a simple majority of THOSE PRESENT and voting is the minimal requirement.
I personally don’t believe in coincidence.
Matthew 18:16
“But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.”
No idea what you’re referencing, but hubby has told me for years….
‘Coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous.’

mandy: I’m such a ditz. I thought I was posting my reply to rushtonovember’s first comment where he asked: “Coincidence?”; but I didn’t select the reply button under his original post, so my reply posted off to the side all by itself. : (
TY for commenting and also for sharing your husband’s viewpoint, which I think could be true. : )
What are you all doing April 8th, 2024?
If I’m still looking at the green side of grass, and the skies are reasonably clear, I will be watching a total solar eclipse. That would make the third total I have observed in my life. For the last one that came across the lower 48 I happened to be trucking up I-57 near Marion, IL and was in the path of totality when it occurred. This time I will be retired and the center of the path of totality will pass right over my Indiana home.
If I go, will Carly Simon write a song about me?
Emmys
Last year they set a new record low at 7 million viewers. This year they worked hard to beat that record and got it down to 6.1 million viewers.
Is anyone surprised?

Perspective:
Sept 20, 1900
Iceland hit by a major hurricane. This came shortly after the deadliest hurricane in US history pushed storm surge over Galveston. That hurricane is now estimated to have been a CAT IV, but it did not peter out overland nearly as much as most do. It was reported at the time to have caused 20,000 fatalities, including a fatality in Canada!

Good thing that did not repeat exactly 100 years later since my son and his wife were living in Iceland at the time….
Growing numbers of high school students are protesting mandatory mask wearing…..in Greece. Schools have been shuttered. https://en.protothema.gr/high-school-students-across-greece-protest-mandatory-use-of-covid-19-masks-with-sit-ins/
Here’s an interesting item about a group of legally armed men who volunteer to protect businesses during (potentially violent) protests. They’re portrayed as heroes. But how was another group of legally armed men who volunteered to do that same thing (which included Kyle Rittenhouse) portrayed?

What’s the difference between those 2 groups, other than they way they’re perceived and portrayed?
The “Atlantic” is at it again! This week’s interview features Andrew Weissmann hyping his new book “Where The Law Ends”. It should have a subtitle, “Is Where I Begin”. Apparantly, he’s blaming Mueller for not letting them “do more” & Aaron Zebley for being “too timid”. I try very hard not to hate, so I’ll just leave it as I despise that guy.
lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Amen.
A prayer for Justice Kavanaugh and Gen. Flynn:
Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do you, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Amen.
Amen.
