A few years back, Zycam swabs with zinc (as zinc gluconate) were a very popular cold remedy. They were to be used “at the first sign of a cold.” That is, that itchy spot you feel in the nose just as it begins to run. For me, it really worked. I also used those zinc-containing swabs in the back of my throat when I felt a tickle/itch there. No colds nor flu at all in the years I used those zinc swabs. (Zinc lozenges are not using the same zinc compound and did not work for me.) It’s anecdotal I know, but I was not the only person who relied on those zinc swabs.

They must have worked too well, threatening the sales of the myriad of bigpharm cold “remedies.” Soon there were claims/lawsuits that people lost their sense of smell because of the zinc swabs. After the zinc swabs were taken off the market, there were NO further reports regarding the people who had claimed loss of sense of smell. NONE.

Everyone knows that sense of smell and taste is altered by a cold anyway, especially with a stuffy nose.

So since Zycam with Zinc (gluconate) swabs were taken off market, I have been purchasing Spring Valley zinc-gluconate tablets online, and sterile saline nasal spray at the drugstore, to use to make a similar zinc swab for myself. I take a Q-tip, wet one end in sterile saline nasal spray, rub it a few times across a zinc gluconate tablet, and use the swab “at the first sign of a cold” which I take to be the “itchy spot” in nose or throat.) I still do not get colds, and my sense of smell is still sharp. Is it really working? Seems so, and has certainly done me no harm.

Be patient, I am getting around to Coronavirus. Lol (BTW “Coronavirus” includes many cold/flu type viruses, not just Covid-19.)

Now we hear that a certain malaria treatment might work against COVID 19. Chloroquine Zpack.
(The Z seems to stand for ZINC?) And in fact Chloroquine Zpack has been said to work by moving ZINC from cells to plasma where ZINC keeps the virus from replicating.

The secret ingredient seems to be the ZINC (gluconate) itself, IMO, getting directly on the virus. Whether the Chloroquine part has an effect on the Covid19 other than the zinc releasing component, I cannot say.

I believe that whenever possible, any medication that can be used “on the spot” is better than one that must travel through the entire body. In other words, I would be averse to taking a round of antibiotics for an infected scratch which could and should be treated right on the scratch itself BEFORE infection increases and moves into the entire body. Thus I don’t take oral zinc, (the zinc of which will be held in the cell nucleus anyway) I save the tablets to be rubbed with a saline wet swab. I want that virus unable to replicate right now, and on the spot.

No doubt you do that too: scratch on your ankle gets red and you put on some OTC ointment or spray. You don’t start taking antibiotics by mouth for that unless a red streak moves up the blood vessel showing you the spray/ointment did not work and you have “blood poisoning” which simply means that infection has moved/is moving into the blood and thus the whole body.

        1) Since quinine is a “zinc ionosphore” and what makes it “work” seems to be that it causes zinc in the blood stream to pass into the cell plasma, and thus retards virus RNA replication,,

Again it seems Zinc stops viral replication…

Since I wrote this, I decided to replenish my zinc gluconate tablet supply. It seems to be OUT OF STOCK at Amazon, Walmart, and Puritans Pride.com. I cannot find it in stock anywhere right now.
Never had any such problem before, and this stuff was cheap.
Could it be that it has been removed by some “powers”… or are many other people aware as I am that it works like a Zycam swab with saline+ Qtip? IDK.
      How very odd.
Please be careful and do not do this with “combination” pills that contain zinc: who knows what the other ingredients might do to mucus membranes? I would not use those. Zinc picconolate (sp?) might be available, but that compound is NOT the same thing, and I would not use it in nose or throat either.
I put in my email to be notified when these are back in stock. Eonder how long that might be?

It’s not a conspiracy Americans bought it all. When it was first reported that zinc helped stores sold out. I happened to have read it and we happened to have gone to the grocery store shortly afterward.

I have zicam at home, but my teen hates the spray or swabs. So I decided to get her lozenges just in case. They were gone. The only thing left were gummies and a couple bottles of nasal spray. I bought a bottle of gummies for her.

When I checked out the cashier (who recognized me as a regular customer) asked what was the deal with zicam. She said for the past hour everybody checking out had zicam. I told her about the stuff circulating on the internet. She was almost in tears that she couldn’t leave her register and get some, she’s a senior. So I went back and got what was left for her.

Please note that Zicam swabs no longer has zinc gluconate in it, not since the lawsuits some years back.
I tried them, and I did not have the same result as the old ones containing zinc gluconate.

True. That is the daily recommended dose (or minumum daily requirement?) of ORAL (swallowed) zinc.
But since I use only a little tiny bit off of a 50mg tablet (whatever amount rubs off with a few swipes of a saline-wet swab) and since it is going directly onto my Itchy spot of my mucus membrane rather than through my digestive system where much might be lost…well you can see that the dosage is quite different, and quite inexact too.

I just want zinc gluconate directly on the virus where it has latched onto my mucus membrane. Nip it in the bud, I hope.

That was the original theory of the original Zicam-with-zinc-gluconate swabs, according to the information that they put out back then. Which is where I got the DIY idea in the first place. LOL

        Wonder not eonder…

BTW what I have used for years is ZINC (gluconate) 50mg.

I am not prescribing this for anyone, just stating what I have done and my experience.

I still have 50 tablets out of a bottle of 100. I will be saving each swabbed tablet in a bit of foil or a baggie for re-use until each one is used up. My saline is kept sterile,(not squirted up my nose from the tip) and I don’t “double-dip” a dirty swab onto a tablet. (Just like you don’t double-dip a chip in dip. LOL.)

Viruses should not survive to replicate once the swab is used, but I don’t know about bacterial or fungal…There are a lot of generally “commensal” and/or opportunistic microbes living in our noses and throats all the time. So I dispose of that swab carefully and right away and don’t re-swipe a used swab on the tablet or re-use a dirty swab later.

Since I only rub the sterile saline swab across the tablet a couple times, (can’t even tell any zinc is on there to look at it) each tablet will last quite a while, so I am not runn8ng out anytime soon.

Actually, the “Z” in “Z-pack” stands for azithromycin – a powerful antibiotic known to be effective in upper respiratory infections. What they’re doing here is fighting against opportunistic bacterial infections that can take up shop in inflamed lung tissues. It contains a powerful initial “loading dose” followed by additional capsules that are taken over the next several days. Also very commonly used for strep.

Zinc has often been studied in relation to viruses, and various theories remain. One is that it reduces inflammation, which is a natural but sometimes very damaging part of the immune response. Others suggest, as you say, that it interferes with virus replication directly.

      • KBr says:

Yep. That “suggestion” that Zinc interferes with viral replication is why I use it the way I do, and why the original zinc gluconate loaded Zicam swabs worked so well IMO. The new version of Zicam swab…meh…not so much.

The way it supposedly works is the hydroxychloroquin makes a “tunnel” into the cell wall of the virus which then makes way for zinc to directly get in there which somehow stops the replication of the virus. The Zithromax antibiotic has a different function. Just something I read.

      • KBr says:

Isn’t hydroxychloroquin an injection? Or is it oral medication?

Either way, what I am attempting to do is use Zinc to stop viral replication BEFORE it gets from my nose/throat into my whole system. At the FIRST SIGN of it.

Which is exactly what the original Zicam with zinc gluconate swabs were designed to do…

        Liked by 1 person

      • KBR says:

Oh, forgot to say, Zithromax is an antibiotic used against bacteria. Not against viruses as far as I know. Its a strong one and works well against streptocuccus for one…

Antibiotics taken internally can upset the balance of “good” bacteria in the gut, by killing off the good bacteria. This can allow fungal organisms to overgrow.

There is always a competitive balance in nature for sources of “food.” We are sources of food for viruses fungi and bacteria sometimes.

I take antibiotics very seriously, ie only if the bacteria is found/proven by a culture and the particular antibiotic has been proven to work against my particular strain of that bacteria in the lab sensitivity study.

But then I am an old school Medical Laboratory Scientist, so that is how it was done before cost cutting measures decided the “right way” IMO was “too expensive.”

I will gladly pay for the culture/sensitivity if insurance won’t, rather than playing around with first this then that expensive and potentially harmful antibiotic one after the other. Maybe less expensive, sometimes maybe more. But that way I and the doctor will know what will kill the bacteria best from the start. I don’t like being an antibiotic guinea pig.

Haven’t needed an oral nor injectible antibiotic in twelve or more years though…

Yep. Read my last post above. It works against bacterial not viral though, so it might be only useful for COVID-19 in the event of a bacterial coinfection late in the case. It isn’t in itself a cure for viruses.

My original thought was that PERHAPS the Z stood for zinc: note that I put a questionmark in my original post after expressing that thought. I hadn’t looked it up, as I was chiefly interested in the fact that the way the hydroxychloroquine works is by releasing zinc to where it can interact with and stop replication of the virus.

If the virus cannot make new virus, when the “newly infertile” virus dies there is thus no new generation of virus to keep the infection going. The infection dies out.

Just like if we humans all became infertile, when the last living human died (born before the infertility started) we would cease to exist. There was a movie like that or two.

I understand that our President Trump is being extremely cautious about starting to reopen our Country and the economy because he loves America and Americans and does not want to see unnecessary deaths from the Chi Com Flu.
I also know that he is a helluva lot smarter than me and that he has probably the best people on his team.
But I also know that nobody lives forever and that our entire life on this earth is just a crapshoot in many ways. The truth is that when your number is up, it’s up and that’s it.
        Nobody lives forever.
That being said, during the many wars our Country has fought, people volunteered to risk their lives for the cause of Liberty and Freedom.
Why can’t we “volunteer” to fight this “war” by going back to work and reopening our economy?
The vast majority of people in the USA are going to SURVIVE this flu epidemic, just like the last one, even those who test positive for Corona 19. That is a fact you can take to the bank. They ALL agree on that one
So why are we destroying the last outpost of FREEDOM and LIBERTY on this planet because of the machinations of our enemies, foreign and domestic, who want to kill us and destroy our country?
This is insanity and it must STOP. #END THE LOCKDOWN NOW

How blood types might explain some things

There are almost no rh-negatives in China, and most of the Orient. In western countries, the rh-neg population is approx. 15%. That is why if you’re negative you shouldn’t travel to the Orient. Should you be in an accident and need a blood transfusion, there is no way they could save you.

Going by China, and I believe their deaths were way higher than what they stated….it killed lots of rh-positives. It would be interesting to see who in the west it targeted by blood type including rh factor, but it’s doubtful we’ll get those answers.

My understanding is the hydroxychloroquine helps cells absorb zinc better.

A controlled press is not a free one. We have all seen censorship of the news especially in the past four years. The networks and most newspapers have become Pravda.

    • Good article you link above. Here are three key paragraphs from that article:

“Making a bad year worse, the flu vaccine didn’t work very well. Experts nevertheless say vaccination is still worth it, because it makes illnesses less severe and save lives.”

“I’d like to see more people get vaccinated,” Redfield told the AP at an event in New York. “We lost 80,000 people last year to the flu.”

[The flu “vaccine” worked so well this past winter, now they’re telling us we must keep destroying our own economy until a Wuhan Virus “vaccine” is discovered. Look, I’m no anti-vac’er, but there is a huge difference between a real vaccine that works, like a measles vaccination, and flu shots, which are mostly playing whack-a-mole].

“CDC officials do not have exact counts of how many people die from flu each year. Flu is so common that not all flu cases are reported, and flu is not always listed on death certificates. So the CDC uses statistical models, which are periodically revised, to make estimates.”

[Flu is not always listed on death certificates, but Wuhan Virus is ALWAYS listed on death certificates, even when it’s not a primary cause of death and/or when the patient was already on death’s door and contracted Wuhan Virus in the end stages of life. And so what does that tell you about CDC’s models and the Wuhan Virus panic?].

    • I doubt that the Wuhan Virus will prove to be twice as deadly as flu. It does appear to be more dangerous, possibly even significantly more dangerous for people with respiratory illnesses, but it might be less dangerous than the flu for people with other types of poor health conditions. The data will tell, eventually. My guesstimate for Wuhan Virus death rate is 0.1%.

Thanks, Publius. I hope you and others keep this reminder front and center. Yes, those who are older and who have other (maybe chronic) illnesses are the main helpless victims of a new, exceedingly infectious virus. Why should young folk “suffer” indoors just for the oldsters? Why should economy temporarily lag?

      1. So hospitals can continue to function for both young and old. You want to go to dr or hospital for regular procedure or elective surgery if Wuhan-Virus is everywhere – just when you might be “compromised”?

      2. So broken healthcare system be brought up to speed after Obozo attempted to deep-six it. (Side effect – Americans can find out if their personal healthcare facilities are properly functioning. Find out and report.)

      3. So healthcare officials will be protected as much a possible from the virus; they must not be overwhelmed – or become ill or die.

      4. So we gain time – without massive deaths – to find palliatives, antidotes, cures, proper stats and research – that will not be high-jacked by big pharma or those enemies in love with everything China – especially their paychecks.

      5. So we watch for the peak in every state. In Calif I think the projected date is April 25; we are 36th state on list, so only a few more states with projections into early May.

      6. So as we wait – patiently or impatiently – we demand proper numbers on the cures and on the antibody tests (to find those safe for going back to work – by this time the number should be huge. It seems most young people will have been exposed.)

      7. And most importantly – antibody/resistance tests. I notice China is “advertising” a “new hotspot.” I thought: just in time to make “officials” mistrust antibody/resistance tests. I think we need to keep our eyes and ears on this one.

My hope is that we can stay true to President Trump. Watch the briefings. Push back on everything we can. Demand the truth and reliable data. How are data gathered? I noticed that our President demanded that all numbers be send to him, not just CDC, etc.

I expect our country and economy to begin to return to a careful “normal” around the first of May. By June all our Little Engines should be in the “I know I can” state of mind. And all those shovel-ready infrastructure jobs should be off the drawing board and beginning production.

Voting is the next knot to solve. If we have cures by June, we should return to normal and be attempting to limit the massive voting fraud that exists already – e.g., my entire state of Calif for example. Dems would not have overwhelmed CA’s H of R reps if voting had been without fraud.

That’s when women had to have many babies; many died of childhood illnesses and all those public health epidemics that swept regions.

I’m sorry Catherine, I truly am. Hopefully things will open up soon, I agree our economy can’t sustain this. I thought the two weeks would pinch, but honestly thought with the stimulus and other actions taken like incentives to keep employees, covering 2 weeks leave, etc. I thought we’d be OK with those measures in place. I figured it might take the rest of the year to “smooth out all the lumps” as POTUS would say. I figured they’d be lagging areas, but mostly we’d get back up on the horse and ride.

Extending a month? That’s a whole other level. Most businesses can’t sustain that, definitely most workers can’t. I still think areas with few to no cases should be allowed to open up. I understand people may flock there, but surely we can control that. This entire thing is like the twilight zone.

Once again I’m so sorry. I hope you can get through to the unemployment office or better yet find an even better job before you UE even kicks in.

Two more interesting op-eds. What’s going on in other countries applies to us just as well “here.”

The first one is directly(!) apropos to what is also being attempted here. British journalist Guy Birchall writes First quarantine, now digital leper bells: How much freedom are Britons willing to surrender in a fit of Covid-19 panic? https://www.rt.com/op-ed/484712-covid-tracking-leper-bell/

As a nation we need to be careful to not give up too much in the battle against coronavirus. Yes, it is a serious problem that should be taken seriously, but the draconian measures taken to deal with it are in themselves a problem. Aside from it being an extraordinary act of economic self-harm, they set a dangerous precedent in allowing the government to curtail freedom in the name of safety. We must be ever vigilant not to cede the rights we have come to take for granted, regardless of the motives behind taking them away.

    – – – – –

American journalist Helen Buynski takes us on a journey through several classic dystopian books in Is it Brave New World or 1984? Here are a few dystopias we ALREADY live in. https://www.rt.com/op-ed/484709-coronavirus-dystopias-1984-huxley-soylent/

Might be a good list of movies to look up on Netflix …

These dystopian extremes exist within some of the same societies, in the form of carrot and stick for those who cooperate and those who misbehave. But our curious historical moment owes just as much to some lesser-known nightmare futures, and since we’re all stuck indoors under coronavirus quarantine, we might as well get familiar with the ins and outs of some of these lesser-known dystopias. At the very least, it will prepare us for what might be in store post-pandemic.

    • Mike Robinson says:

The problem here is “number of cases.” Like any cold virus, this virus can be transmitted easily. The number of cases continues to follow the usual exponential curve pattern. But the number of serious cases and the number of deaths remains comparatively small. According to the CDC web-site today, there were 186,101 cases in all fifty states, but 3,603 deaths. And nearly all of those deaths were in people who had more than one cause-of-death: they died with the virus but not of it.

In the State of New York last February, over 2,500 people were hospitalized with the flu or flu-like symptoms. It killed five children in one week. The flu was a pandemic too.

So, what we don’t have here in this news reporting is proper context. We’re being served stories of overrun hospitals and running out of body-bags when the truth, while still serious, is very different. This is no time for sensationalism, but that’s part of what we’re getting now.

When are all the virus numbers spouters on this web site going to realize they are helping perpetuate the hoax. The values and trends of the numbers for THIS particular virus DO NOT MATTER. What matters is that the numbers even exist.

The CDC and the mews media have created an illusion that is so far holding. No other disease nor malady exists except this virus. They have created the illusion that a virus can be destroyed and removed despite the truth that 100’s have existing for ages among us. They have created an illusion that it does not matter everybody risks disease, injury or death every day of your life. It is the very reason the CDC doctors DO NOT add statistics on all of life’s other maladies in their diatribes, because people would begin to ask what is the difference between this risk and the risks I still run every day? The inescapable answer is NONE and viola the lock downs end and the economy restarts.

The greatest crime of the two doctors on stage with the President is not their model presentation but their lie of omission that they did not commit for all the previous disease outbreaks that occurred on their watch at CDC. They omit that the virus when it came into being would have spread no matter the measures take to join the others that already exist. The risk of this virus is no worse than most and is less than many other communicable diseases. Until these two are removed and the “truth of life’s risks” re-introduced, the President is caught in an inescapable do-loop because this issue does directly threaten life but IT CAN NOT BE CURED.

So, no matter the magnitude of the numbers, the trends, the flattening, this is going to continue as long as there are big numbers involved because the illusion has been created that these doctors are essentially demanding the “impossible cure for common cold”. It will not stop until the illusion is exposed or the right people control the government.

I won’t say that these people were being deliberately or criminally deceptive or “trying to bring the President down,” but I do very-emphatically believe that this “social distancing and shut down” method of direct intervention is, indeed, “a cure that is far worse than the malady.” (And, not effective at all.)

The number of cases did not particularly “flatten” over the past several weeks, and the fact remains that more than 90% recover. We do not yet know why, when the virus does strike, it strikes very hard. (Is there more than one strain out there? We don’t know.)

I think that this is an executive decision which the President will very soon have to make. And these are the times when that wooden desk in that oval office is the loneliest place on earth …

Pointing this out, because are we even reading each other’s comments anymore? Also,
I agree with your initial comment. Suggesting that we are so focused on these numbers/models as if they will cure the disease/virus is futile.

I will add, I stopped looking at all the models long ago. They are confusing and there is never good source data listed. What intrigues me now about the latest IHME model that shifted decisions to the 30 day extension is this; I keep reading posts that say the “death rate” is right on target. But the hospitalization rate is way off (4 times less than predicted).

I’m not looking at the models but I’m thinking hmmmm, the focus and panic is AT THE HOSPITALS now. This model certainly had a purpose in fueling decisions and or perception of ill preparedness.

So, has anyone asked of the “medical gurus that be” or if asked so received an answer to the question of “How many doses of Hydroxychloroquine, Azithromycin, Zinc have been prescribed or taken?” And just as important “How many doses are currently available to try?”

My understanding is that we have 10 million doses of HC available or will be in the next few days. My understanding is that the sooner you go on this 5 day regiment the better. What, besides medical caution or politics is holding up wide spread usage? If those are single doses, that’s still good for 2 million people x 5 days.

If it is medical caution I wonder why this is rated as such a doom and gloom, dangerous, major national medical emergency, but we’re afraid to get volunteers to give it a try to find out? If it is only 50% effective you would still take 50% of the load off of our possible medical overload problem.

If political, medical professionals should override political shenanigans.

It’s not a good practice in a blizzard or storm to go up in a bucket truck to restore power to thousands of people, but many linemen do just that in an emergency to “get er done” and save many lives for the greater good.

  33. The world’s leading expert on infectious disease, Dr. Didier Raoult, provided perhaps the first, reliable indication of a possibly effective and inexpensive treatment for COVID-19. The Jewish doctor Vladimir “Zev” Zelenko came up with and instituted what I believe is the approach to get the country out of this mess the quickest.

The whole idea of doing something, anything, about COVID-19, is to prevent the medical providers from being overwhelmed such that doctors must decide who gets care and who doesn’t, who lives and who dies. So, let’s assume that should be the overall goal of our national, state and local policies.

The wise Dr. Zelenko came up with several key and unique elements to adopt:

    1. Doctors treat people with his Hydroxychloroquine/Azithromycin/Zinc cocktail on an outpatient basis before they have the need to be admitted to a hospital, and potentially needed the ICU and intubation. His primary measures of success are 1) not ending up in the ICU, and 2) not needing intubation.

    2. “Hit it hard and hit it early”. Doctors shouldn’t wait for COVID-19 test results if they take several days. He is confident that he can accurately diagnose based on symptoms alone. If not prescribed early to those susceptible to serious complications, the time from symptoms to death is five days. Yikes.

    3. Doctors prescribe the above cocktail ONLY to those who are susceptible to COVID-19 progressing to serious lung damage AND showing the symptoms of COVID-19. Younger and/or healthier people not at risk are simply told to self-quarantine for 14 days with no cocktail (I am assuming he is making the most of the available supply of the drugs, which he said in his latest update is drying up in NYC.)

I believe there is likely adequate supply of these drugs and supplements in the USA to follow his protocol because the number of people falling into his target group is a relatively small percentage of active cases (see the numbers of Serious/Critical cases in the USA).

Following the above will keep almost all people out of the hospitals IF they are diagnosed and treated early at the onset of symptoms. Very important.

If there is enough supply of the cocktail elements then the protocol, in my opinion, should be to treat every positive case with the cocktail and reduce the time of the disease to five days in most people. This would rapidly increase the number of Recovered cases and reduce the time people are contagious and likely “bend the curve” significantly and earlier.

I would add making widespread use of the COVID-19 antibodies test just now becoming available from Henry Schein so people with antibodies are free to go back to their normal lives.

It seems to me God gave us the solution and, as usual, the devil is using his usual tactics of deception and distraction to prevent it’s use. Just like the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

It is good medicine to prescribe medications only when they are needed – particularly powerful antibiotics such as azythromycin. We already have a strain of bacteria, MRSA, “Methicillin-Resistant Staph Aureus,” which has developed resistance to many antibiotics that used to knock it out of the park. We don’t want to lose “Z” in like manner by giving it out like candy. Antibiotics also kill beneficial bacteria, some of which are believed to actually aid the body’s immune responses. It is important to have found an inexpensive quinine-based drug that appears to be effective, but it is unwise to give it indiscriminately or prophylactically: “shoot at a known target.”

To clarify – one of the bad things about viruses, which are not actually “living things,” is that they constantly mutate. They cause cells to mass-produce copies of themselves, but they are not always exact copies. Random mutations occur, and those mutants spread too. Sometimes the mutation causes it to be non-infective, but sometimes (as in the mutation which produced “COVID-19”) it gains the ability to infect other animals or to cause different symptoms. Because the reproduction process occurs quadrillions of times in millions of different animals, “pure random chance” actually adds up.

If we “prophylactically” administered, say, the quinine drug, it might kill the strains that are susceptible to it … but in so doing it would concentrate any random mutations that were not. In the same way that a strain of the Staph Aureus bacteria developed resistance to antibiotics that had been effectively used to treat it. So, we reserve its use to symptomatic-and-severe cases. If you are asymptomatic, or if it appears that you will recover on your own (as nearly everyone actually does), you shouldn’t get it.

Illness equals an overburdened immune system. Pathogens of any variety are everywhere all the time. Safe to say the pathogens involved in viral pulmonary illness have some component of bacterial involvement. Azithromycin is a potent broad spectrum anti biotic but certainly not the magic bullet in the cocktail.

Chloroquine as the mediator of the cell wall that permits the ++ Zinc ion to enter the intracellular space is the big bingo.

“Antibodies” are the remnants of your body’s fight against a disease. Antibody tests can be used for example to determine if you have built up a (temporary?) immunity to a virus, having been exposed to it and having recovered from it. Active-infection tests look for presence of a contagion while you are fighting it. Antibody testing would be a valuable way to predict what the true penetration of the contagion might have been and how long it has been there. A comparatively small random sample of a population would be sufficient – the entire population does not have to be tested.

Many people are either asymptomatic or fight the disease off quickly. While a very small percentage experience rapid-onset pneumonia, and an even smaller percentage experience a “cytokine storm” which can of itself be very-quickly fatal. So, that’s one thing that is most “novel,” and most frightening, about this virus – and it is part of what makes some people wonder if we are dealing with more than one strain. Epidemiology is not an exact science – we simply don’t know yet.
