      Stellar video interview.
Shortness of breath -> must treat immediately
First 5 days are life & death determination.
      ICU has a 40% to 50% mortality
100% survival IF treatment started before intubation needed / ARDS due to lung damage
Treatment: 200 mg twice a day HCQ (hydroxychloroquine), 500 mg once a day Zithromycin (Z-pak), 220 mg once a day Zinc. Daily cocktail for 5 days.

Goal is to slow virus long enough to enable body immune system to mount its defense before catastrophic lung damage from virus.

virus is 3x more infectious than flu. (possibly hits body with too much speed and lung damage is cause of its lethality)

Mo God bless you for posting this video! It should be a must view! Dr. Vladimir Zelenko’s advice of “hitting it hard and early” with his combination “cocktail” of hydroxychloroquine, zinc and azithromycin is 100% effective! Hope Governor Cuomo doesn’t have the good doctor arrested. Good grief there is a very effective treatment which is being held up by Federal bureaucrats! Waiting until Covit-19 infected patients are in the hospital and on a ventilator is too late, 50% die at that stage and those that survive have scarred lungs for life!! Thank you Rudy Giuliani!

Anybody hear the story of the hospital morgue worker in NYC? He went home after logging 3 deaths, one heart attack, one diabetes , and a 90 something from natural causes. When he came back in the morning the paperwork on all three had been changed to “cause of death, corona virus” ????

I think CTHs` reputation makes it a key target for counter purposes. I could think of a few places in the U.S. where this money is needed

“The United States today touted nearly $40 million in aid to the Middle East and North Africa as part of a $274 million emergency health and humanitarian assistance package to help afflicted countries deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

The State Department disclosed that a substantial share of that funding — $15.5 million — will benefit Iraq to “help prepare laboratories, implement a public-health emergency plan for points of entry, activate case-finding and event-based surveillance for influenza-like illnesses, and more.”

Additionally, Morocco and Tunisia will each receive roughly $700,000 to prepare laboratories and surveil new infections while supporting “technical experts for response and preparedness” and bolstering “risk communication.”

Finally, the State Department announced nearly $17 million in humanitarian aid for Syria and another $6 million for Libya.”

Just curious…. why not blame the Senate GOP who purposely included corporate bailouts in this bill, knowing full well it would mean liberal pork also being included? I mean, the GOP could have written a clean bill, $X going to taxpayers who, through government requirement, lost their jobs…. not even Nancy Pelosi could have stopped that bill.

You see – the GOP includes their pork because it’s the only way they can get their greedy kickbacks. Nancy and the crew can’t be left out in the rain. And so, 96-0.

I read the article and concur.

I’ve also been pouring over data for the last 3 weeks and see some patterns are emerging:

      – You can do any statistical analysis you want and everyone of those will point to a massive transport of the virus into the USA, starting around the beginning of January.

      – The most infections in our country are ALL clustered around the same places – large metro areas with two things in common: large ports and/or airports hubs. This tells us that the virus has been coming into the USA from many different countries.

      – Looking at the total number of infections does not help anyone except the panic mongers. You have to look at TRENDS! the best trend to look at is the number of new infections each day. When you do that, and although premature, it looks like Spain has turned the corner, reporting less and less new cases for the last 5 days. Italy looks like it might be as well. Other smaller countries in Europe are reporting the same thing.

      – Looking at Europe I am of the opinion the our cases will continue to climb in the USA for another two weeks before they start tapering off. This because the reporting of explosive number of cases in Europe started much earlier.

If the internet has made this such a small planet… why is it we cannot get a consortium of front line individuals like this in a virtual conference setting, giving and taking almost in real time, nightly?

Seneca, we hear ‘can’t unsee that’ often lately but there is a wisdom in age for that very reason.
When you see from an experience perspective things that others don’t see become apparent or unimportant, probably that is the most unsettling, ‘unimportant’. Many on the field today are deemed ‘unimportant’ punishment is one. (From spanking to the death penalty, there is a reason why and feelings have nothing to do with it)
Too many in the older generations have been sidelined and made to feel unsure of their wisdom. Bias is natural, as well as perspective, but when talking to People who lived through things you understand there is always an agenda in the recording of the event. This is no exceptions. Basic reasoning is lost, as if truth can be ignored.

It seems this week the media is going to screaming about ‘muh hotspots’ and showing #s of infected doubling every couple days. Which is an obvious consequence of the fact that EVERYONE has been carrying this virus around for 3 months and we are just started to test for it in significant #s.

Since we know it’s been circulating in the U.S., how about we look at hospitalization rates? Recovery #s? Death rates compared to the nations of Europe? This is where the critical data lies.

I seem to remember the leafers in MA and NH being mostly locals. Or at least city folk who paid attention to the local news telling them when viewing is best.

Nobody up there wanted to view leaves in RI.

Nothing like a long drive of bumper to bumper traffic, a stop to get some cider, and a restaurant meal somewhere along the way.

Same is true for the Smokies, especially the national park, except for cider and restaurants in the park.

I have to say New England is better color. But both are very susceptible to leaf removing rains.

But my fondness is for fall in Fairbanks. Hills of solid gold leaves and lots of evergreens. Not even enough leafers, local or not, to cause traffic snarls.

And I always wonder who the family guy is poking fun at. Pretty great talent to make fun of the people who make fun of other people and getting laughs from both.

That’s the same “story” I read earlier – with the same large dose of apparent B.S. in it.

For example, while they directly quote their Governor Raimondo as saying, “If you want to seek refuge in Rhode Island, you must be quarantined.“, they quote NOBODY for their claims of:

      * Raimondo has called out the National Guard to go door-to-door to find anyone from New York City who has come to the state in recent weeks.

      * The state police in Rhode Island have begun pulling over cars with New York plates.

They quote the ACLU as saying, “Under the Fourth Amendment, having a New York state license plate simply does not, and cannot, constitute ‘probable cause’ to allow police to stop a car and interrogate the driver, no matter how laudable the goal of the stop may be,” but NOWHERE is there a quote to support the article’s claim that police are actually doing that.

The article is a loose mishmash of small truths mixed in with a large dose of unattributed, unsupported, fear-mongering B.S.

Just why is it this story only provides direct proof for some “statements” made by their Governor and the ACLU (neither of which makes the “door-to-door” claims); while leaving the biggest “facts” (National Guard going door-to-door, police stopping vehicles) completely unattributed?

Even the headline only claims the National Guard has been “called out”, not that they are going door-to-door.

Article author Rick Moran sure leaves a lot of the important claims unsupported.

Ok, my fellow Treeper, riddle me this with pro and con answers.

This is a national health emergency. We’re worried that our hospitals and medical professionals will be overwhelmed in a few short weeks. We are asking(and receiving) the medical front line folks to battle on.

So why not have President Trump ask for 10,000 volunteers from those testing positive to trial this possible remedy of Z-pack + Oxy quinine (or whatever it’s name is) that seems to work? Go through the volunteers medical history to make sure they are not allergic or in a bad category to receive either of these drugs. And get this large “clinical trial” started NOW.

I’d accept the risks and sign up as I’m sure many would be to join in on the front line to help determine whether or not it works to protect the rest of my countrymen.

What’s the problem? Do it and get some answers within 10 days. Even if it only 25%-50% effective you would be freeing up 25%-50% of our needed medical resources before the “brunt” of the curve hits us. Why not take this approach?

I can see a lot of “pros” in this approach. What are the “cons” of doing this during a National Medical Emergency on a volunteer basis? And why have we not already started this?

But, off the top of my head–

            1) Yes, if the fire department shows up to put out my house fire, but delays starting up the hoses for some reason, I’d sure want the answer as to why. Would that not be a reasonable question?

            2) If the Fire Chief said we can’t tell you because people might put out misinformation about our actions I would still want to know why my house was burning to ground because of all the misinformation in the media already out there about his previous actions.

Great answer. There are times when too much (incomplete) information is published just to publish for the sake of satisfying an itch. That is worse than no information because all the second guessing begins and wrong conclusions circulated like is done by our media and elected politicians with no good purpose in mind.

The greatest stoker of the panic so far has been NUMBERS. Especially unproven numbers, no matter who is publishing them. I worked with models for over 30 years of my professional life and the one thing that never fails to happen is the changing of definitions and data collection norms to feed NUMBERS into models to give the “correct” answer. Couple that with the phenomenon that credentials over ride competence for a long time when multiple experts make statements based on NUMBERS their models developed.

I accept we are dealing with a new virus that needs to be contained and studied to develop the countermeasures possible. I do not accept the constant use of tragedy by Professionals to project dooms day as the norm and to suit their agenda.

Unless you tested positive or were purposely exposed to the virus, the only benefit of giving the drug combo to a random 10,000 volunteers would be to test for safety. That kind of testing is not needed. These drugs have been around for decades, their safety record and potential side effects are well known.

So far testing is pretty much limited to symptomatic people. You could randomize a study within those that test positive. However, since the drugs are in relatively short supply it appears they are using them on hospitalized patients. It also appears there is some testing of them as a prophylactic for medical personnel, those would be your healthy volunteers.

If the drugs are successful in a hospital setting then they’ll branch out to doctor offices for mild symptoms. They might even test a wide swath in select areas to find asymptomatic positives. Production of the drugs will have to ramp up before then.

And so, we are told by the DEM “Dr. Amy Acton” here in Ohio that ten thousand per day will soon be infected!!! My reaction is: If that is so, everything done so far against the spread would seem to be worthless.

What is the use then of shutting Ohio down? Let’s all get infected sooner and get it over with!

Or are we to assume that 100,000 per day would be infected without these measures? How could that ever be proven?

Indeed. We have never before attempted “measures” such as these against any contagion, and we don’t(!) actually know whether they will have an impact. But, the decision was made to try it … internationally. We will be studying this grand social experiment for a long time to come. Did it work? Was the consequence worse than the malady? More than twenty million Americans will soon be out of work, and many of the businesses they worked for won’t reopen.

Unfortunately for the scaremongers, it is starting to become easy to prove that they could have done a better job.

But I doubt there will be recriminations. Those would be very counterproductive. They not only have a President who turns to them for guidance, but he puts them front and center in the crisis. They have created a new way to respond and they will want to keep it.

Criticism will be quiet lessons learned.

Of course there will be political attacks. But unless blame fits solely on Trump, the attacks will not be supported by the experts.

The spread pattern of any virus is always exponential until it begins to flatten off – which it always does. But still, this virus is “very novel, indeed,” with a large number of cases, a large number of asymptomatic(!) cases, and a very small percentage of mortality.

Mike there is something else to consider. As a person who lived with models for 30 years as part of my job; to get the “desired answers” one changes; definitions, assumptions and norms in reporting data. I believe we are seeing all three play out. In the professional world it is a sad truth that credentials are often used to accept the answers of one professional over another, no matter levels of relative competence until management wakes up to the facts.

I agree, trying to stop a virus from gaining a foothold and spreading is like trying to nail water to the wall. It is going to happen as is evident by the 100’s of viruses, in different forms, that have been and still do float around the US despite our best efforts to stop them.

As a DDS, and having been an Infection Control Officer for a CERTIFIED hospital facility within the CALIFORNIA Department of Corrections Division of Juvenile Justice for 6 years(2004-2010), the following article is harsh BUT for the most part true:
Simply put, it’s this — R0 is likely around 3.0 We’re intentionally undersampling, plus test error, so the original estimates around 3.0 look good. Outside edge on that is likely 2.5 +/- 0.1

Social distancing and lockdowns have only reduced it by approximately 0.5 and even with the extremely aggressive “shelter in place” orders we’re only getting another tenth — that is, 0.6. That’s within the margin of error, so the difference between “shelter in place” and “slam closed all restaurants, bars, groups larger than 50, 10, 2 or whatever” is only 0.1 which is a statistical ZERO.

A reminder: It has to go below 1.0 to stop the spread. It has to go below 1.3 or thereabouts to spread no more nastily than the seasonal flu.

      Where’s the rest coming from?

We’ve cut social interaction by 90%+ for nearly everyone in the country.

But we’ve increased the concentration of people with it (as the cases have gone up) in hospitals and that has to be where the spread into and through the community is coming from.

We know that’s happening in nursing homes and such but it’s happening in every hospital too and has been since this started.

THE PROTOCOL HAS TO CHANGE IN HOSPITALS EVERYWHERE AND ANYWHERE IN THE US RIGHT NOW TO THIS:

      WASH YOUR ****ING HANDS.

WASH THEM BEFORE AND AFTER EACH CONTACT WITH ANY SURFACE OR PERSON.

      WITHOUT EXCEPTION, EVERY TIME, PERIOD.

NOT HAND SANITIZER, SOAP AND WATER.

      EVERY TIME.

      BEFORE AND AFTER.

ENFORCE THIS PROTOCOL LIKE DAMNED NAZIS AND ANYONE WHO BREAKS IT, EVEN ONCE, IS OUT, IS FIRED AND CANNOT RETURN. PERIOD. I DON’T CARE WHO THEY ARE; NOTHING LESS THAN 100% COMPLIANCE IS ACCEPTABLE. RIGHT NOW.

NO, GLOVES DO NOT CHANGE THIS. NOR DO MASKS.

DOCTORS, NURSES, ORDERLIES AND OTHER WORKERS ARE TRANSPORTING THE VIRUS OUT OF THE HOSPITALS AND ONTO SURFACES AND PERSONS IN THE GENERAL POPULATION.

THEY ARE THE VECTOR. THEY HAVE TO BE BECAUSE WE’VE SHUT DOWN VIRTUALLY EVERY OTHER POTENTIAL SOCIAL SOURCE OF CONTACT AND TRANSMISSION AND YET ALL WE GOT OUT OF IT IS AN 0.5 CHANGE IN R0.

IT CAN’T BE MOSQUITOES OR OTHER INSECTS, NOR OTHER VERMIN BECAUSE THE DENSITY OF THOSE FACTORS VARIES FROM PLACE TO PLACE AND YET NYC .VS. THE REST OF THE COUNTRY ONLY HAS A 0.1-0.2 DIFFERENCE IN MEASURED R0.

IT’S PEOPLE, AND THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERACTING WITH THE REST OF THE POPULATION RIGHT NOW THROUGH THEIR CONTACT WITH THE SURFACES WE ALL HAVE CONTACT WITH AND WHO ARE WHERE THE VIRUS IS CONCENTRATED ARE THOSE WHO WORK IN THE HOSPITALS.

AND BY THE WAY, THIS ALSO PROVES IT’S NOT PRIMARILY BEING TRANSMITTED IN VAPOR AND AEROSOLS FROM YOUR MOUTH. IF IT WAS THEN “SOCIAL DISTANCING” WOULD HAVE SLASHED R0 BY WELL MORE THAN HALF. IT DIDN’T.

THE VIRUS IS, TO A LARGE DEGREE, BEING SHED AND TRANSFERRED OUT YOUR ASS.

That’s the impression I get from this post. That first responders are generally being careless or worse after coming off duty.

Much more likely they ARE washing their hands, and going straight home to collapse in bed before returning to work the next day.

My infection control nurse viewed the ‘tapes’ periodically to observe infection control procedure observance. WE KNEW. Part of my duties was to go to referring hospitals and observe their treatment procedures and especially post-op and release procedures so we knew what needed to be done upon reception back into our medical facility. Horrified would be a mild word re:infection control. WE KNEW.
The US has been on ‘lock-down’ for nearly 2 weeks with some parts of the country more locked down than others. Social interactions have been reduced on the whole by at least 90%. It has been generally agreed upon that the infectious number, R0, is about 3. In 2 weeks, given the characteristics of this virus, in that 2 weeks this virus has gone thru approximately 2 infection cycles. Given the data that has come in, and it will be understated because several locations are not testing unless hospitalization needed, with ALL of the restrictions in place, we have reduced the R0 to about 2.4. Normal flu has a 1.3 number. To stop the infectiousness we need to get R0 to less than 1. Given all we have done so far we have reduced transmission by 1/6. It’s NOT gatherings in bars, eatery’s, or groups of 2 or more that were causing spread. And it’s primary mode of transmission is NOT AIR-BORNE. So let’s look at what is still functioning 24/7 that is a locale of high viral loads. I’m sure you can guess. COVID-19 is now known to be found feces. Very unusual for a respiratory infection. Fecal transmission is a HIGHLY efficient form of transfer. Think most food poisoning, Hep A for instance. ANYONE working with patients having high viral loads that doesn’t follow STRICT infection control protocols, can very easily become a vector. Without PROPER hand-washing, ANY surface they touch with a contaminated hand/glove, becomes a transmission surface. They leave the hospital and touch knobs, counter-tops, any common surface, BOOM to those who follow. 6′ distancing does NOTHING. This virus’s primary mode of transmission is SURFACE CONTAMINATION.

I recall here that, A2 (or maybe a social media post), said accepted protocol in Hong Kong was to strip (clothes/shoes) on entering your house during SARS. It seems like this would be a good idea for hospital employees leaving work.

        • Another thread update had shown a nurse not changing out of scrubs until getting home. Many had responded she should change and shower at the hospital to avoid transmissions to those outside of it and around her.

The are already supposed to be doing this. And during hospital accreditation audit by the Joint Commission they do. I agree, it should be a fireable offense. Appreciate your insight and expertise. I have to ponder on it for awhile. For instance, there are lots of breaks in the chain regarding social distancing and isolation. People who aren’t washing their hands as suggested, people then going to grocery stores and touching surfaces, people who aren’t practicing social distancing, school kids out en masses and running through neighborhoods, food and supplies being delivered by people who now have contacted surfaces you will touch. Not sure it isn’t even a bigger issues than the hospital providers.

To my knowledge, there is one poster who is more of a denier. It is real, and I know first hand a patient who had a fever and three days later couldn’t hardly breathe. He is at Clevveland Clinic and is 50% better. I don’t know his treatment, but I hope the CC is giving the reported effective regime. He is my sister in law’s friend’s father who wouldn’t stay home to protect himself so is in a high risk category because of his age.

Governor Whitmer and her not so sound ideology seems to be straight out of the governor Blanco/Ray Nagan 2005 Katrina playbook. Between the two of them, they did a great job of trashing New Orleans and environs. I can see Witmer throwing the people of Michigan under the bus so that she will continue to be funded by the DNC. Besides, Michigan must be punished for voting for Trump in 2016.

Could this be why Trump sign that XO on March 27 that recalled FORMER military personnel? I am assuming that that personnel will be under Trump’s command, not a governor’s. That XO could be a great end run around posse comitatus. Brilliant!

” As millions face down unemployment and some face death, policy leaders are stuck debating what to call the thing that is causing their suffering. Calamity looms, but ideologues sideline immediate financial relief for the sake of “diversity and inclusion.” How did America become so incapable?

The populists have an answer: at some point, America became home to partisans with so faint an attachment to their people that they stopped caring. A ruling class of selfish, sleazy profligates cut off America’s roots and sold its future. And so even now, in this moment of great need, they won’t give up their decadent distractions.”

      Context, context, context.

If 20% of the population is infected – thats 70M people

If between 100K and 200K die – lets say 150K

      150K/70M = 0.2%

The flu has an annual death rate of 0.1%

Remember the #s dying were originally > 2M people (per Dr. Fauci)

So now slashed by a factor of 10 to 15.

Dr. Fauci has already put his foot in it several times (false #s; failure to define “anecdotal”, etc)

No wonder the MSM love him.

As a former small-biz owner, it’s been seriously bothering me the idea of these “Loans”. I may be completely wrong, but want to sound off a warning just in case.

I fully appreciate the dedication that goes into realizing a small business’s potential. Having busted my arse wearing multiple hats, & teaching myself everything as I went. I did so while forgoing any salary to build up equity & cash. Only to have it fade away under the early reign of Nobama.

So now via CONgress, there’s these “Loans”– meant to help recovery efforts. BUT these are really “Grants”… IF you abide by certain conditions.
These will also be distributed by various Banks.

Ok, but where is the Bank’s profit in this scheme?? It’s costing them money to at least process & manage. So Interest-free, no additional payback?? This is NOT how Banks operate!

So small businesses that may have been free & clear of any debt– prior to the Corona-Hoax– now becomes indebted to some bank/US Gov??
As with most any “loan,” there’s some type of collateral to secure it (ie. your business), a/o the legal means to recoup other assets for any losses incurred.

The only thing that comes to mind to for me, how long before these banks find any reason to seize/foreclose on these private businesses?? Call me a skeptic, but there is NO such thing as a free-lunch… especially where our Gov is involved!

Taking it a step further… I’ve seen reports re. The supposed merger of The Fed with the US Treasury. My gut says that’s probably not a good thing. This ties into my above suspicions.

While I don’t understand it enough to articulate the potential issues (good or bad) arising from, consider the below poster’s relevant theory.
To me it makes far more sense than the unicorn & rainbow scenarios being pushed behind any such merger.

There’s always ulterior motives behind anything the Gov does. If anything, the past 3 years have proven this repeatedly!

Take it FWIW… but small business owners BEWARE, & read any & ALL fine-print like your livelihoods depended on it!!

CM-TX – I echo your sentiments and forebodings but recollect that when skimming the CARES bill that multiple millions of dollars was allocated for financial institution costs of processing these small business loan guarantees/grants or whatever they are called. Not much comfort but agree the devil is in the details…..read the fine print.
