The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s business index jumped nearly 20 points to 36.7 in February, one of the highest readings in more than a decade. This was the second consecutive month of better-than-expected results for the survey, blowing past economist expectations for a reading of 12.

    • Well, I’m actually pretty skeptical of the value of these poll-results that use demographics like gender or race. Because, that implies that “women,” or “people with black skin,” or “latinos” and so forth, are truly meaningful groups … e.g. that might be expected to vote one way or another “because they are [demographic].”

I think that, when people decide if and how to vote, they actually use the one thing they all possess: their brain.

      • Blah blah blah … if they were serious about changing the health care system, then four sitting Senators would be holding public meetings, drafting legislation, seeking industry comment and “doing all the other things that sitting US Senators can do.” (All of which, by the way, “the President can’t.” He can’t wave his hands, flick his magic wand, and do anything.)

I do think that eventually we will have to go in this direction because in my opinion our “for profit” scheme fails patients, providers, and financial stakeholders alike. But, let’s get down to brass tacks: How would you actually implement any such thing to serve over 320 million people? How would you avoid the problems that have vexed countries one fourth our size? How would you do this “American style?”

Silence. None of them have any idea, and none of them are actually looking. It’s just empty talk and idle scare-tactics. 🤷‍♂️ A waste of time.

        Liked by 2 people

        • P.S.: One further comment …

When we finally, as a nation, come to accept that “re-imagining health care” needs to become a national priority – and it is my opinion that this day will fairly-soon come – I think that the first thing that we must come to grips with is that: “our situation is going to call for something that hasn’t been invented yet.” We’re going to have to put all of our heads together and come up with something that all the other countries of the world will be amazed at, and will wonder why they didn’t think of it first, and want to copy. (That’s what I mean by: “American Style.™”)

Nothing like “what we will need” has been dreamed-up or attempted yet. We can’t just copy other countries’ failures. And our do-nothing politicians (who could be doing something with the offices they now hold …) are merely trivializing the actual challenge. Which they can do, because it’s just empty talk.

For the last three years, I’ve watched someone who could, and did “get sh*t done.”

Hey Mike I believe it was Singapore that already did that. They took the best ideas that worked in other countries and combined them for their own healthcare. PBS did a documentary a dozen years ago, they covered 5 countries. I think Canada, Germany, France, Hong Kong and Singapore. I wish I could remember and post it.

I replied to Countrydoc awhile back when he was posting about how much money is waisted in health care now. I put forth an idea for a Peace Corps type of Doctor training for America only.

The US Government pays for the training for qualified applicants to be trained as Doctors and upon graduation they serve a number of years in small towns, say 7, and then can move on to private practice. The prices would be fixed for all procedures. These Doctors would make a decent living and then could move to private practice.

            Just a thought.

The Primary Schedule is a killer for the Democrats. Bloomberg is the only one right now who really has the money to compete. Sanders is OK and has an organized base in all the Super Tuesday States, but no way he has the Money to go on the airwaves like Bloomberg does.

The Democrats NEED Biden, Amy, Mayor Butti & even Warren to drop out and winnow the field now to get it down to Left and Crazy Left to have any chance at all. None of them will do that.
Mini Mike is not just hiring all the available campaign talent (100 to 150% of normal wages) he has notified all .big Left Donairs to cut off all donations to all the Dem Field. Texas is the hardest State to Campaign in, no chance at all without a ton of Money. The Dems are in the post of having to battle on too many fronts, without resources.

It won’t work of course, what it will do is hurt Dem down Ballots. I actually watched that mess last night, skipped the after debate interviews and then tuned into the CNN panel late last night.
Nothing but Doom and Gloom, with Andrew Yang telling them all how it was working out.
The one agreement the panel of 8 had was that President Trump was the BIG Winner last night.

I know SD has a post on Ambassador Grenell and this might should be there but interested in everyone’s opinion and I do not have time to read Grenell post till tonight. Here is a sentence from a U.S. News article

    Begin U.S. News:

Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which oversees nomination hearings for the DNI position, said in a statement Wednesday evening he would ensure “the work of our intelligence professionals is never interfered with or manipulated for political ends.”

    End U.S. News

Isn’t that statement by Mark Warner pretty damn political in it’s own self. Is there any reason to believe that Senate Intel will try to work with Amb. Grenell or accept PDJT’s choice? This seems a subtle strategy to make a politically positioned statement and then charge the President with excessive politics or abuse of office.

Left has done this with Political Correctness, Me Too and Identity Politics, but it is just as much propaganda as fake news. it is their preferred method of projection and has now spilled into the justice system. Today a CNN commentator was waxing poetic about PDJT’s DOJ and their lack of due process.

We have to slow down, identify the switch when libs make it, and hold them accountable. Their word smithing is so infuriating it makes it hard to process their BS

For some reason Bloomberg’s running a ton of ‘love me’ commercials away down here in the ‘Can’t Get Much Deeper Deep-South’. It must be part of a general shotgun approach as he couldn’t get an extra napkin at a drive-thru down here, Hillary would poll better.

The other thing is he ends the commercial by telling us we’re all God’s children but when he says ‘God’ he changes inflection on it as if it’s a foreign world and/or it’s sticking in his throat. Better he sticks those states where he has a snowball’s chance.

Even I agree with de Blasio on this, it’s Debating 101:

“I think he came across as an arrogant billionaire, which I think is accurate,” said de Blasio, speaking at an unrelated Brooklyn event. “I was astounded, as someone who has done a lot of debate prep in my life, [that] he made no attempt whatsoever to mask a worldview — not just a personality — a worldview that I think is really troubling to a lot of working people.

The question is, if Bloomberg is serious, why would he do this? As deBlasio went on to say, Bloomberg should have expected to be questioned on his record, and what he did in his business.

Th main reason I’m posting this here is that the main thread of the article is Andrew Cuomo mocking Bloomberg for throwing money at the race.
Hmmm. Why is Andrew talking about this? He knows Biden isn’t going anywhere.

Gorka: In the last 60 seconds we have. Please follow this man @DevinNunes. Do you have faith that something good in terms of rule of law will come out AG Barr and John Durham’s investigations, Congressman?

Nunes: I do. I actually really like what Attorney General Barr’s doing. He’s an adult. He’s being very methodical. I like that he picked Durham. A long time very credible prosecutor in Connecticut. Which, you know, is not New York City …

      Gorka: Yes

Nunes: …Not the swamp in Washington DC. Uh, I think he is farming more of these cases out, because there are so many shenanigans going on.

      Gorka: Correct

Nunes: It is best to get these far away and the investigations as far away from the swamp as possible and that’s what you see the Attorney General doing. Look, he’s … he’s got an almost impossible task.

It’s not enough for Barr to resign. I want him out of DOJ, disbarred, disgraced, & investigated for obstruction of justice. Barr sabotaged Mueller report, was in on Ukraine plot, & now he wants to free Trump’s criminal friends. In my estimation, they ALL belong in jail!

    • There are many, many people in Washington, DC who are deathly afraid of Bill Barr, and of all the justice that he represents. When Barr let some of his sources of frustration be known – and, as it were, I do see his point – his enemies immediately pounced. Because they want to close these investigations down.

When you sign on to do a job, you see it through. If your boss is causing problems for you, you go talk to your boss. No one needs to know either that you spoke or what the two of you said. This is no place for impetuous or childish decisions, and I do not expect any.

I have long ago learned to ignore 150% of what Maxine Waters said. I look forward to the day when her constituents feel the same way. She is an embarrassment to herself and especially to the Congress of the United States. Less than 700 people out of more than 320 million get the privilege of serving their country in these two chambers … and, again and again and again, she proves that she is unworthy of it.

Bolton Admits Testimony Based On Leaked Book Excerpts Would Have Been Impeachment Nothingburger

In his second public discussion this week, Bolton was on stage at Vanderbilt University with former national security adviser under President Barack Obama, Susan Rice, who questioned Bolton’s refusal to discuss more details while his book undergoes screening for possible classified national security details by the Trump administration. Bolton was likewise quiet on specifics from the book during a Monday speaking engagement at Duke University.

Bolton contended that the House “committed impeachment malpractice,” drawing some grumbling from the audience, saying “the process drove Republicans who might have voted for impeachment away because it was so partisan.” He also said he didn’t expect the Senate to vote against having him testify.

“People can argue about what I should have said and what I should have done,” Bolton said. “I would bet you a dollar right here and now, my testimony would have made no difference to the ultimate outcome.”

Barack Obama: A Traitor for the Ages
    By John Eidson – February 19, 2020

Presenting himself in 2008 as a political moderate who fully embraced America’s two-party constitutional democracy and its free-market capitalist economy, Obama’s ideological beliefs were never closely examined by the mainstream media. But as his presidency unfolded, serious questions began to pile up about who he really was, specifically how closely he was aligned with the oppressive theories of Marx and Lenin. Obama denied being a Bolshevik, but many objective people doubted that assertion based on the long trail of troubling circumstantial evidence.

Ask your friend for specific examples of allegations. Then do your research or refute it. Another excellent tactic that works is to research an example of a Dem actually doing what they are accusing PDJT of doing, and then compare how the media covered it compared to how they bash PDJT. Opening people’s eyes to how biased and dishonest the media can be is an important task.

My response to “cheering4america” is similar to yours. It got me thinking. I’d love to have a covfefe table book with clear and easy to read photographs and headlines from left wing sources where Obama, for example, is praised for something and then President Trump is slammed for it. It has to be ALL leftist mainstream media sources throughout. US Government graphs and tables would probably work too. EVERYTHING must be footnoted so all can be easily double checked. I bet a book like this would sell in the millions. It would probably work in black and white but it must be a big lay flat book with glossy pages. I would buy a few to give to people I love. Right away, people might think it’s all faked by our side but once people saw that, “yes”, the NYT did print that or the Huff Post did say that and deny Obama said it etc…. folks do not like being lied to. I think there is a market for this.

I only use leftist sources to try to convince folks that President Trump is innocent. My favorite is showing headlines where President Trump is slammed for saying or doing the same thing Obama, the Clintons etc. said or did. Later on they might be receptive to conservative sources but in the beginning they’ll be immediately turned off and you’ll get no where. I was able to show side by side comparisons of Huff Post inaugural crowd pictures where they claimed no one showed up (Picture was from 2 hours BEFORE President Trump spoke!) and I showed them the C-SPAN pictures clearly showing President Trump’s crown was identical to Obammy’s. There are tons of CLEAR and easy to see pictures and headlines that prove the FAKE news bias.

    • bessie2003 says:

cheering4america – as President Trump has said time and time again – read the transcripts!

Also, read the IG reports, the Mueller report, it’s all there – No Collusion, No Obstruction, No one on the President’s team, or family had anything to do with Russia. not one of the President’s team, whether during the campaign, transition or while in office have ever been charged with any crime involving the President or his family.

But it does take wanting to know what’s really going on instead of blind belief that the news is real, as the President said in his first press briefing after taking office, the news is fake but the leaks are real. And once you have read those things and realize just how fake the MSM has been you will be able to guide your friends or family with facts and not emotion spins which is what the press thrives on, and your friends/family will appreciate that – because no one likes to be lied to. The time you take to do this will be worth it in ways unimaginable.
