Sunday January 26th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

    A Challenge For Our Parents

    By Pastor Paul M. Sadler

    Scripture Reading:

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
    — I Corinthians 15:58

Probably the most commonly asked question of a seven year old is, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Usually the little one is so frozen with fear that the one inquiring must resort to a form of interrogation: “a doctor, lawyer, policeman; I know, a fireman!” These are noble professions indeed, but why are children almost never encouraged to pursue the ministry? Is the Lord’s work any less meaningful? Are the callings of pastor, evangelist, missionary and Christian counselor unworthy of our childrens’ consideration? Parents do well to remember that there is no higher calling in life than the Lord’s service.

Sadly, our young people are so preconditioned to aspire to worldly professions that the ministry is not even a viable option. Timothy’s mother had no way of knowing whether or not God would call her son into full-time service. But to her credit, she trained Timothy from a small child in the Scriptures to prepare him for the things of the Lord. Shortly after his conversion to Christ, he was called into the ministry where he delivered many from a Christless eternity (II Tim. 1:6).

During those formative years we need to encourage our young to seek the face of the Lord as to what area of Christian service the Lord might use them. Perhaps you have a quiver full of teenagers who don’t know what vocation to pursue. What better place to search for an answer than to have them attend the Berean Bible Institute here in Milwaukee.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

2 Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

I praise our Lord. I thought my sweet father at almost age 95 had died yesterday. I was at my parents’ house eating lunch. Thought he died, then thought he had a stroke, thought that I had lost him. Praise God. He is alive and back home within almost 24 hours. I will cherish any time that I have left with him. He and my mom have been married 69 years.

‘In your light shall we see light’ (Psalm 36:9), for the Father is seen in the Son, as the Lord tells us in the Gospel: ‘Who sees me, sees the Father’ (John 14:9) From the true light, indeed, the true light proceeded, and from the invisible the visible. “He is the image of the invisible God,” as the apostle notes (Colossians 1:15).”

I saw John Stewart perform many years ago. Some friends took me to his concert, which was small but enthusiastic. I’d never heard of him, but he wrote “Day Dream Believer”, “Never Going Back” and many more songs. He was part of the Kingston Trio at one time. Anyhow, he put on a great show and I have been a fan for many years. Here is one song that is catchy.

    The Chinese coronavirus
The gov’t should have stockpiled this long ago.
    But we’re stupid. They’re elite.

The FDA as usual drags its heels (with a little nudge from Big Pharma?)
“Time Magazine naming the Hemopurifier to be one of the “Top 25 Inventions” as well as one of the “Eleven Most Remarkable Advances in Healthcare.”
It can remove the viruses in the bloodstream quickly.

“To date, Hemopurifier therapy has been administered to individuals infected with Ebola virus, Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and the Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV).”

“..have validated the broad-spectrum capture of numerous viral threats. These include: Chikungunya, Dengue and West Nile virus, as well as Vaccinia and Monkey pox, which serve as models for human Smallpox infection.

“Specific to pandemic influenza threats, Aethlon has validated the capture of H5N1 avian flu, H1N1 swine flu, and the reconstructed 1918 influenza virus, which represents a model for the strain of influenza that killed an estimated 50 million victims in 1918 and 1919. In vitro studies of other viral threats are ongoing.

Many people who have pneumonia/flu die of consequent sepsis, like Mohammed Ali.
Same FDA scenario as above for cytosorb.

New China virus, Swine Flu hoax, history matters

    by Jon Rappoport
    January 25, 2020

“I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but…history matters.

When you see a new story on the horizon, and it looks a lot like an old story you know was a hoax, you have to dig up that history and report it.

Yes, many people hate history. It tends to stretch their attention spans, which are rooted in the present, where the action is: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram—little crumbs of NOW and NOW and NOW.

Oh well. Here we go, back into the Dark Age of 2009, an ancient time.

What was happening then? There was a grim pandemic spreading like an angry cloud over the world, threatening to kill millions of people. Sound familiar? Sound like China right now? It was called Swine Flu.

Just like now, the 2009 announcements were coming out of the World Health Organization and the CDC; the germ was a virus; it was spreading; travelers were carrying it; people were being tested at airports; the source of the germ seemed to be animal-to-human transmission; deaths were being reported; fear was rising. People were saying, THIS IS THE BIG ONE. Other people were saying: THIS IS A WEAPONIZED VIRUS ALTERED IN A BIOWAR LAB. Just like now.”

“If God so clothe the grass of the field…shall He not much more clothe you?” Matt. vi. 30

A simple statement of Jesus is always a puzzle to us if we are not simple. How are we going to be simple with the simplicity of Jesus? By receiving His Spirit, recognizing and relying on Him, obeying Him as He brings the word of God, and life will become amazingly simple. “Consider,” says Jesus, “how much more your Father Who clothes the grass of the field will clothe you, if you keep your relationship right with Him.” Every time we have gone back in spiritual communion it has been because we have impertinently known better than Jesus Christ. We have allowed the cares of the world to come in, and have forgotten the “much more” of our Heavenly Father.

“Behold the fowls of the air” – their main aim is to obey the principle of life that is in them and God looks after them. Jesus says that if you are rightly related to Him and obey His Spirit that is in you, God will look after your ‘feathers.’

“Consider the lilies of the field” – they grow where they are put. Many of us refuse to grow where we are put, consequently we take root nowhere. Jesus says that if we obey the life God has given us, He will look after all the other things. Has Jesus Christ told us a lie? If we are not experiencing the “much more,” it is because we are not obeying the life God has given us, we are taken up with confusing considerations. How much time have we taken up worrying God with questions when we should have been absolutely free to concentrate on His work? Consecration means the continual separating of myself to one particular thing. We cannot consecrate once and for all. Am I continually separating myself to consider God every day of my life?

Interesting article on how China may have obtained the deadly virus

    • Jim in TN says:

If that is the virus, we will find out shortly because they will be able to match it genetically. And since there are victims here, China can not hide the truth.

More disturbingly, that article mentions some 40 chinese facilities for biological weapons research and makes it sound like that is how they will fight the next war.

The dims have a “Bernie problem”.

FTA – It’s still early and things can change fast, but several new polls show Bernie Sanders surging in Iowa and New Hampshire as well as nationally, as Warren continues to stumble, Biden continues to unimpress, and Buttigieg continues to ignore the propeller beanie hat stuck to his head. If Sanders sweeps Iowa and New Hampshire and surges in South Carolina and Nevada, he could become well nigh unstoppable. The Democratic establishment, such as it is, will move heaven and earth to stop Sanders, and given the wealth of material in Sanders’s history, you can expect the mainstream media will start running stories on “Just Who Is Bernie Sanders Anyway?”

“CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 15 million flu illnesses, 140,000 hospitalizations and 8,200 deaths from flu.”

Note, the above numbers are from the estimate done 1/18/20; new data will be available shortly because they update weekly. I would not be at all surprised to see that we’ve exceeded 10K deaths in the US from flu so far this season.

Hebrews 4:1 let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest any of you should seem to come short.

Why fear? We should fear only God who has the power of life and death eternal Matt 10:28. Who is God?
In the act of receiving Gods provision, his rest, we are in faith of who God is, a loving God, who sent his son to die that we might have that rest. It is the heart of salvation obtained by faith. Works, as Paul points out.
Hebrews 4:11 let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. (Israelites in the wilderness)

Read on, as Paul Harvey would say “…for the rest of the story.”
FTA – In case you haven’t heard, the original Bullitt Mustang, from the film “Bullitt,” just sold for a staggering $3.74 million.
An anonymous bidder walked away with a piece of Hollywood history on wheels.

The car’s name comes from the classic 1968 film “Bullitt.” In the movie, Det. Frank Bullitt, played by the iconic actor Steve McQueen, drove the Mustang as he solves a murder mystery.

What makes the car appealing is who drove it.

Steve McQueen still captures the imagination of the public, and you still see his image pop up on ads for TAG HEUER watches and Persol sunglasses.

The No. 1 actor in the world became a follower of Jesus Christ.

FTA – In a “Watters’ World” segment that featured colleague Tucker Carlson, Fox News host Jesse Watters shared a recent encounter he had with three Bernie Sanders supporters.

To hear Watters tell it, the trio said they appreciate Fox News’ coverage of the self-avowed socialist candidate.

“I’m coming home the other night, living in an apartment building in lower Manhattan,” Watters explained. “I get on the elevator and the elevator doors are closing and at the last second, an arm goes through — elevator doors open up and three Bernie Sanders supporters walk into the elevator.”

“And they immediately recognize me,” he continued. “They say ‘I know who you are,’ and I got nervous. And they said ‘I don’t agree with anything you say or anything you believe in, but you guys — meaning Fox — are the only ones who have treated Bernie Sanders fairly.’”

    To Ponder

Let me ponder on the hunger and thirst of the Lord Jesus for righteousness:

    1. How He comes into the world to bring the lawless back to righteousness.
    2. How He proclaims the righteousness of God and denounces unrighteousness.
    3. How He hastens to perform countless works of righteousness, to leave us an example.

I heard a report on OAN earlier this evening concerning Bolivia’s interim President Jeanine Anez in which at least one person was interviewed who was opposed to her overt Christianity as opposed to the indigenous beliefs of former President Evo Morales.. So while looking for recent international news coverage of the current state of affairs in Bolivia I came across the following two reports . One claims that Anez is going to stand for election in the May presidential election (yes, I know it is Al Jazeera but the article is one of the more recent ones out there) and the other details Bolivia’s dustup with Mexico and Spain re their attempt to evacuate an Evo aide from Bolivia (Guardian article concerning information I’ve not heard elsewhere). A number of MSM articles are predictably aghast at Ames’s conservative positions.

Also seems that Evo, from exile in Argentina, has endorsed his former financial minister for president in May’s presidential election.

Does anyone have any first hand or know anyone who has reported first hand knowledge of the true state of affairs in Bolivia since Evo resigned last fall? A close friend who is Bolivian has expressed renewed hope for her beleaguered country and requested prayers for the future of Bolivia.

So for those who are so inclined, please join me in keeping Bolivia and its people in our prayers. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:1)
