I think these two are more likely related:

Aug 15: “the Crossfire Hurricane team requested assistance from the FBI’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC) to prepare a FISA application for submission to the FISC” (page 35 of the IG report pdf file)

Aug 15: insurance policy text from Strzok to Lisa Page

Devin Nunes has stated that the insurance policy was related to Carter Page:

“We believe that insurance policy is not just about investigating the Trump campaign,” Nunes said. “We believe it’s to ensure that they were able to get the FISA warrant on Carter Page so they could go in and look at the emails in the campaign.” https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/devin-nunes-peter-strzoks-insurance-policy-was-about-carter-page-fisa-warrant

FISA warrant creates a legal defense from criminal prosecution for what would otherwise be felony snooping.
If there was wiretap snooping before obtaining the warrant, there is a risk of criminal prosecution, if the snooping is revealed and an honest prosecutor exists. This is the rare event.
If there is a warrant, there will be no indictment.

    Answer me this:

Should the result of this IG report, about the absolute MOST SENSITIVE CASE in AMERICAN HISTORY, not cause a mass appeal process from MILLIONS of federally convicted criminals??? If they are admitting this much incompetence on the most paramount of cases, what other mistakes did they supposedly make while framing, errrr… I mean convicting the little people criminals??

This should literally set precedent to allow a mass reopening of EVERY federally tried case in the last 30 years plus.

No. Why not? Because FISA warrants never see a criminal prosecution. FISA is entirely secrect permission for secret snooping, and “trust the secret government,” no snooping is afoul of the 4th amendment.

Right and wrong. Carter Page is opening a huge case with a large team of lawyers right now BASED UPON HOROWITZ’S REPORT which reveals not just incompetence, but also malfeasance (example: a top, NOT “low level” lawyer editing out exculpatory evidence). That doesn’t require access to the the FISC warrant request itself.

.I’m not a lawyer….but if this is what Carter Page is doing, doesn’t that “Delay” the use of the report for any further prosecutions?

Because they now would be using the report as “evidence” therefore disallowing the report to be used in any other case until his is finished?

On the day of the hoax impeachment, TIME puts out this report.

Exclusive: Top Ukraine Official Andriy Yermak Casts Doubt on Key Impeachment Testimony

“One of the American diplomats who attended that meeting, Gordon Sondland, the U.S. Ambassador to the European Union, testified before the inquiry last month that he pulled Yermak aside after the Warsaw meeting and delivered an important message: U.S. aid to Ukraine would probably not resume until Zelensky’s government announced two investigations that could implicate President Trump’s political rivals.

“I told Mr. Yermak that I believed that the resumption of U.S. aid would likely not occur until Ukraine took some kind of action on the public statement that we had been discussing for many weeks,” Sondland testified.”

    (clip)

“Yermak disputes this. “Gordon and I were never alone together,” he said when TIME asked about the Warsaw meeting. “We bumped into each other in the hallway next to the escalator, as I was walking out.” He recalls that several members of the American and Ukrainian delegations were also nearby, as well as bodyguards and hotel staff, though he was not sure whether any of them heard his brief conversation with Sondland. “And I remember – everything is fine with my memory – we talked about how well the meeting went. That’s all we talked about,” Yermak says.”

I don’t agree that Schiff can claim the 2020 election is illegitimate. The Dems have 11 months to inform the American people that their candidate is better for the country than President Trump. The American people get to decide who wins. If the Dems want to argue that President Trump is illegitimate, let them try to convince the voters that is the case.

If you watched this not knowing better you might think he is a supporter of the President, but he isn’t. He is a supporter of the truth however. This is completely laughable!
    Abuse of Power:
Basically Sondland’s testimony is predicating this Article. Trump is interfering with the 202 election because he allegedly: Wanted a public announcement of investigation into Biden and would Trade off that announcement for a White House Meeting with Zelinskyy. This is all capped in Sondland’s testimony were he said “as I understood it”. HA! What a disgrace!

    Obstruction of Congress:
Trump didn’t do what we said in our strongly worded letters to him and his agencies. The Article calls these letters “subpoenas”. Executive privilege would negate that anyway, however; none of these “subpoenas” were actually subpoenas because there was/is no punishment for not following them. YAWN!

My question now is: what if the House passes these and then the Courts decide against the dimms in these cases in the Courts right now? If the court finds that these strongly worded letters are actually strongly worded letters and not subpoenas, would the Obstruction of Congress Article be rescinded or would it be ‘dismissed’ in the Senate?

Anyway, the dimms should be ashamed of themselves. This is all out of spite and jealousy. These Articles are laughable. They wouldn’t even constitute prima facie in a parking ticket hearing.

EPIC RALLY TONIGHT, DON’T MISS IT!

That said — why should an indictment of McCabe lying to the FBI — the reason he was fired — need to wait any longer?

Finally — next shoe to drop will be regarding the Flynn persecution. The IG Report has further shown how despicable it was. Go Sidney!

Ya nailed it right there with the Flynn persecution…
Barr knows what he needs to do…this will all happen in steps…it may not be what WE want it to be, but certainly moving in the right direction

IG report out…now Ms Powell and Flynn can move forward…notice how Barr glossed over this little, itsy bitsy detail that will rock the left even further. Remember, we are hoping that the case will be dismissed “with prejudice” and…given that this judge has given orders from the bench before (Ted Stevens case), mark my words, the FBI is crapping in their pants. This will be the next play in the chess game…PT knows this…so does Barr….so does Durham.

While we finish my analysis of the actual IG report…and folks like Tucker call out the mass press, POTUS is waiting for the right moment. Like Barr said, he’s dotting i’s and crossing t’s, which means indictments are likely.

He’s a non-criminal, process-oriented investigator. (Some IG reports are dull-as-donuts …)

Barr / Durham, on the other hand, have a completely different charter and mission. They are Perry Mason. They’re looking at people and searching for criminal behavior. And, they are under no obligation whatever to be bound by “what the IG thinks.” They can use facts uncovered in his report … or, not. The two roles are therefore complementary but entirely different.

When Devout Catholics Grimaced Over Pelosi’s ‘As a Catholic’ Hypocrisy
They felt what Orthodox Jews feel over our phonies.

“James Rosen, a great reporter, asked Nancy Pelosi at a press conference last week why she hates the duly elected president of the United States. In her response, Pelosi detoured into another dimension, denying that she hates Donald Trump. “As a Catholic,” she lectured, “I resent your using the word ‘hate’ in a sentence that addresses me. I don’t hate anyone.”

“My goodness!,” I thought to myself. “How utterly frustrated, bemused — even furious — sincerely devout Catholics must feel listening to this cheap politician, who represents billionaires in a district teeming with homeless, cloaking her hatred for President Trump in Catholic fabric!” Which part of her devout “as a Catholic” devotion leads Nancy Pelosi to be a leader in promoting abortions, gay marriage, and the Obama–Democrat agenda she shepherded? Where was this “as a Catholic” when the Little Sisters of the Poor were fighting their way to the Supreme Court of the United States, seeking SCOTUS protection in Zubik v. Burwell in 2016, from Pelosi’s Obamacare, which forced the nuns, against their Catholic faith, to provide birth control contraceptives to employees? ”

No question that describes Pelosi very well. Proclaiming a Catholic background doesn’t square with her conduct and stated positions on issue including abortion.

No doubt orthodox Jews cringe when “secular” Jews refuse to support Israel or don’t see that too many Democrat officials espouse antisemitic views. OTOH there must be more than a few non-orthodox (even “secular”) Jews who favor strong connections between US and Israel, and oppose the perfidious Democrats.

The oft-cited figure that ~2/3 of Jews are Democrats is possibly right, but then again it may not be. In any case, of the 1/3 or more of Jews who aren’t Democrats certainly not all are orthodox. If we’re going to discuss it intelligently we definitely need more carefully researched info about this small but apparently important segment of voters.

as for Wray….he clearly spends more time on his hair than on the corrupt FBI under him..
it is Durham I am most interested in….what he does will mean alot..
any one with common sense see what is going on…..and as always until the corrupt are held accountable ( as in doing time )…then it is all just so much talk..
we were given the most wonderful president in our history…..and if we lose him it is on all of us.

When? When will they show this “integrity”? I’m just curious. The IG has just spent 21 months investigating. Several best-selling books have already been written itemizing crimes by the Deep State in excruciating detail. How much longer do Barr and Durham need? I must assume they’re waiting for him to be impeached and removed from office.

The DOJ isn’t writing a “book”. They are trying to build a case that will withstand the test of a prosecution leading to convictions. The problem, I suspect, is every time they turn-over a rock several other people and miscarriages of justice are revealed. This is Barr and Durham facing off against the most powerful, most politically connected and richest people in the world. Both in the US and Europe. This IS major league baseball.

I have posted numerous times here that “Swamp Draining” is the mother of all RICO cases. I also suggested more than a few times that impatient folks should do some quick researching of “RICO” cases and they’ll see that they routinely take YEARS! If Durham’s initial investigation concludes next August, that would leave all of September and all of October for perp walks. Many of the accused won’t deal until they’re arrested and then some will roll over on other accused who after they’re arrested will roll over on other accused etc. I’m thinking we will have years of first rate entertainment. Are there any lawyers here to comment?

The always insightful Mollie Hemingway has an article up at The Federalist that discusses how the IG Report validated the original Nunes Memo in 2018, and how it proved that Schiff’s response was full of lies:

    https://thefederalist.com/2019/12/10/ig-report-confirms-schiff-fisa-memo-media-praised-was-riddled-with-lies/#disqus_thread

    FTA:

“The Democratic minority on the committee, then led by Rep. Adam Schiff, put out a response memo with competing claims:

FBI and DOJ officials did not omit material information from the FISA warrant.
The DOJ “made only narrow use of information from Steele’s sources about Page’s specific activities in 2016.”
In subsequent FISA renewals, DOJ provided additional information that corroborated Steele’s reporting.
The Page FISA warrant allowed the FBI to collect “valuable intelligence.”
“Far from ‘omitting’ material facts about Steele, as the Majority claims, DOJ repeatedly informed the Court about Steele’s background, credibility, and potential bias.”
The FBI conducted a “rigorous process” to vet Steele’s allegations, and the Page FISA application explained the FBI’s reasonable basis for finding Steele credible.
Steele’s prior reporting was used in “criminal proceedings.”

Each of these claims were found by Horowitz to be false.”

    Well worth the read.

Yeah, well, same can be said for ANY institution that is part of the US government. The Senate isn’t exactly known for helping the causes of liberty, freedom and integrity. In fact, the Senate was a critical player in perpetrating the Russian hoax scam on the public, and stood quietly by when Mueller was appointend, contrary to DOJ regulations pertaining to such appointments.
Sure, it’s handy for Congress to maybe hold FBI (past FBI) out as fall guy, and no doubt some gullible Americans will fall for the “come clean” charade.
Meanwhile, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence gets a free pass.

Why would the CIA remind Clinesmith (FBI) that Carter Page was one of their informants and in good standing? Clinesmith was compelled to change the email to reflect that Page’s CIA status warranted a 4th FISA renewal. What could possibly be the purpose.

CIA had let FBI represent page as a Russian spy for 3 FISA warrants prior. This occurred June 2017 .

Clinesmith altered an email from the FBI that said Carter Page was solid. He removed that wording to justify the fourth FISA renewal. IG used the words “reminded” so they had apparently discussed prior. I had always thought Page’s surveillance warrant was to cover unauthorized 702 retroactively. But there were 3 renewals up til June 2017.

If he was just a snitch why was CIA emailing FBI about Carter Page at all? Page FISA warrants were renewed almost a year after Page and Halper got together

Seems like he would have to have been spying for Mueller, Like a jail house snitch getting confessions from another prisoner on their way to the gallows. I dont know. I guess I am reaching a lot but I cannot get my mind around why they would continue to use him for 3 FISA renewals

        • rcogburn says:

Most likely the CIA was doing CYA for the CIA and the other coup plotters. Clinesmith allowed himself to take a bullet for the team. The CIA can claim it properly informed the FBI. The other coup plotters can say Clinesmiths actions were his and his alone.

Going “by the book,” this is a domestic investigation of foriegn interference, so the Agency’s job is to pass on the relevant information it has to the FBI. It is FBI’s job to conduct the investigation (or not), get the FISAs, etc; and then bring its findings to the DOJ for prosecution. The CIA provides intel. The FBI runs the show.

The CIA “reminding” email created an instant paper trail showing the CIA had done its job informing the FBI that Carter Page worked for them. It also came late in the game, when the operation was already falling apart.

Once the CIA “reminded” Clinesmith, via .gov email, that Carter Page worked for them, he could either A. elevate it to his superiors and ask for guidance; B. become a real whistleblower and go into hiding; C. falsify it in the FISA.
          Clinesmith chose C.

Clinesmith committed such an egregious crime, my hope is Durham is able to use the very real prospect of his complete financial ruin and decades in prison to get him to flip on his bosses.

“I have tried to work within the system the last three years. My efforts have been met with stonewalling within my own party and criminality, sedition, and treason in the opposing party. No more.

The final straw is the Articles of Impeachment setting forth two charges which are not even within the purview of the Constitution. The Democrats have declared war on my administration and the American people. So be it.

First, I am announcing the immediate termination of the services of Chris Wray at the FBI and Gina Haspel at the CIA. I legally need no reason to offer and I offer none. I will later announce their temporary replacements.

Second, I am announcing that henceforth no lower federal court order hamstringing my administration will be recognized prior to the appeals process being taken to the Supreme Court. Only when the appellate court process is completed will I then recognize a final decision by any court in this nation.

Third, I am announcing that in 30 days time I will close the border between Mexico and the US unless within that time the DHS certifies to me that Mexico has taken concrete steps to restrict and stop all shipments of illegal drugs and persons into our nation.

And finally, I announce that any effort to impeach me for non crimes under the Constitution will be met with the full might and authority of myself and my family. All complaining witnesses will be subpoenaed and cross examined under oath by my lawyers, the best in the nation.

And Reagan did peanuts compared to what Bush, Clinton and Obama did. The others (Biden, McCain, Pelosi, Schumer, etc.) are also corrupt as hell.

We really can be so happy for Trump. He’s the first non-corrupt president in forever, and on top of this he’s a competent business leader, which shows.

We need to get him re-elected in a landslide, and take the House and Senate for the Republicans, hopefully most non-Rinos.

Barr just said that “beyond reasonable doubt” is the standard to indict with the DOJ – a high bar indeed – so it’s going to have to be done right and it can’t be done quickly.

Rush interviewed him for his publication.
      Book cliff note
Angelo M. Codevilla introduces readers to the Ruling Class, the group of bipartisan political elites who run America. This Ruling Class, educated at prestigious universities and convinced of its own superiority, has everything to gain by raising taxes and expanding the reach of government. This class maintains that it knows what is best and continually increases its power over every facet of American life, from family and marriage to the environment, guns, and God.It is becoming increasingly apparent that this Ruling Class does not represent the interests of the majority of Americans, who value self-rule and the freedom on whose promise America was founded. Millions of Americans are now reasserting our right to obey the Constitution, not the Ruling Class. This desire transcends all organizations and joins independents, Republicans, and Democrats into The Country Party, whose members embody the ideas and habits that made America great. The majority of Americans feel that the Ruling Class is demeaning us, impoverishing us, demoralizing us, and want to be rid of it.
