Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

It was during one of the Mardi Gras parades some 20ish years ago when I got a call to take two deputies and go over to where the staging area where the Budweiser crew was harnessing the horses and setting up the wagon. Being Mardi Gras there was some concern with parade goers possibly interfering with the process.

We got there, got to interact with the horses, watched while they outfitted the horses and the wagon, the whole thing. At the end there was still a while before the wagon was to take off so the Bud crew pulled down a bright red 48-quart cooler, sat down on the curb, opened the cooler and pulled out…Coors Light.

    The Seventh From Adam

    Scripture Reading:

“And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints.”
    — Jude 14

About two weeks prior to teaching the Dispensation of Conscience in my Dispensational Survey class at the Berean Bible Institute, I raised the following question to the student body. What is the significance of Enoch being addressed as “the seventh from Adam”? The entire class drew a blank — they were stumped!! Although it may seem rather insignificant at first glance, the Holy Spirit has added this phrase for good reason. In fact, this phraseology is only used in reference to Enoch.

A number of the students gave some thought to the matter and even ventured a couple of explanations, which were true, but not the answer I was looking for. Finally, one student eventually got two or three hints out of me and came up with the answer. Upon arriving at the fourth and fifth chapters of the Book of Genesis, I explained to the class that there were two Enoch’s before the days of the great flood. Therefore, we must carefully distinguish between the Enoch who descended from Cain, and the Enoch who was the “seventh from Adam” (Gen. 4:16-18 cf. 5:22-24). The first Enoch walked in the way of Cain — his descendants were morally bankrupt.

God would have us follow the example of Enoch, the seventh from Adam, who walked in the way of faith. Thus “Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found [implying everyone searched for him], because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God” (Heb. 11:5). In addition, the path of the coming Redeemer would pass through Enoch, the seventh from Adam, not Cain’s Enoch (Gen. 3:15). So then, a seemingly insignificant phrase suddenly helps us better appreciate that:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (II Tim. 3:16).

“I being in the way, the Lord led me…” Genesis xxiv. 27

We have to be so one with God that we do not continually need to ask for guidance. Sanctification means that we are made the children of God, and the natural life of a child is obedience – until he wishes to be disobedient, then instantly there is the intuitive jar. In the spiritual domain the intuitive jar is the monition of the Spirit of God. When He gives the check, we have to stop at once and be renewed in the spirit of our mind in order to make out what God’s will is. If we are born again of the Spirit of God, it is the abortion of piety to ask God to guide us here and there. “The Lord led me,” and on looking back we see the presence of an amazing design, which, if we are born of God, we will credit to God.

We can all see God in exceptional things, but it requires the culture of spiritual discipline to see God in every detail. Never allow that the haphazard is anything less than God’s appointed order, and be ready to discover the Divine designs anywhere.

Beware of making a fetish of consistency to your convictions instead of being devoted to God. I shall never do that – in all probability you will have to, if you are a saint. There never was a more inconsistent Being on this earth than Our Lord, but He was never inconsistent to His Father. The one consistency of the saint is not to a principle, but to the Divine life. It is the Divine life which continually makes more and more discoveries about the Divine mind. It is easier to be a fanatic than a faithful soul, because there is something amazingly humbling, particularly to our religious conceit in being loyal to God.

Since his success in winning the President has been hated with an incomprehensible (to me) hatred from the obvious enemies- the left, but also from those we previously thought to be reasonable, loyal conservatives, or even centrist D’s. Their hatred made no sense to me. His policies have often financially benefited them, and he has forwarded the positions they have publicly espoused for most of my life Why?

This morning I believe I came upon a simple explanation:
“Better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both.” -Machiavelli
While he is feared by his enemies, he is loved by his supporters to the extent it has been called a personality cult. This is something no R since Reagan has had in any significant amount. Not the Bush’s, not McPain, certainly not Romney. This is why they wish to destroy him. Jealousy. They are tolerated as a “better than” choice.

Trump is loved, with all his flaws.

    • Rudy says:

Flaws? I’d argue the man has quirks, not flaws. Not visible flaws, anyway, because I don’t see anyone as flawless. They are not things that need to be brought up constantly, either.
It seems like there is an unfortunate need amongst even his supporters to back off a little bit and try to be ‘reasonable’ and not part of a ‘cult’ by not giving him the full measure of respect and trust he has earned and deserves. To do so weakens him in the face of his (and our) enemies. No need to be slavish and cultish, no. On the other hand, no leftist gets to define DJT to the least degree for me, not by faint praise, not by moderating a position of support by talking about his so called ‘flaws’, not in any way.
He hasn’t done anything that I wouldn’t do, only I would have been much more…harsh and quicker on the trigger. Just saying.

Yes, flaws. I have flaws too. We are human. That wasn’t an effort to be “reasonable”, but rather commentary on my view of PDJT not using rose-colored glasses. There is no reasoning with his enemies because of their hatred. For the most part they are my enemies too, although I wouldn’t register on their radar.

Have You Noticed That The Crazy People Are Starting To Take Over Our Society?

It is getting scary out there. In order for society to function properly, we need to be able to assume that most people are going to behave rationally. And when I was growing up, it was generally safe to make that assumption. But now things have completely changed. No matter how hard one may try, there is simply no avoiding the hordes of crazy people that seem to be taking over our society. It is almost as if millions of us never learned the basic rules for how civilized people should treat one another. Sometimes this manifests in behavior that is simply rude, other times it manifests in behavior that is actually dangerous, and if you are really unlucky you will personally encounter someone that has fully embraced depravity on a level that most of us never even want to think about.

This “cease fire” is temporary as their doctrine dictates the Treaty of Hudaybiyah….

We know that the Islamic prophet

“… and his early followers were oppressed by the Quraysh [tribe]. Did he launch retaliatory strikes? No. He was prepared to make strategic retreats. He sent his early followers to a Christian country and he himself later migrated to Medina. There he gathered followers, built up his defence capability and ensured the security of his people. At Hudaybiya he was prepared to accept an unfair treaty, against the wishes of his companions and followers. During the peace that followed he consolidated his strength and eventually he was able to enter Mecca and claim it for Islam. Even then he did not seek revenge. And the peoples of Mecca accepted Islam and many became his most powerful supporters, defending the Muslims against all their enemies.

“For well over half a century we have fought over Palestine. What have we achieved? Nothing. We are worse off than before. If we had paused to think then we could have devised a plan, a strategy that can win us final victory. Pausing and thinking calmly is not a waste of time. We have a need to make a strategic retreat and to calmly assess our situation.”

“We also know that not all non-Muslims are against us. Some are well disposed towards us. Some even see our enemies as their enemies. Even among the Jews there are many who do not approve of what the Israelis are doing. We must not antagonise everyone. We must win their hearts and minds. We must win them to our side not by begging for help from them but by the honourable way that we struggle to help ourselves. We must not strengthen the enemy by pushing everyone into their camps through irresponsible and unIslamic acts. … We need only to call a truce so we can act together in tackling only certain problems of common interests, the Palestine problem for example.

“The Quran tells us that when the enemy sues for peace we must react positively. True the treaty offered is not favourable to us. But we can negotiate. The Prophet did, at Hudaybiya. And in the end he triumphed.”

And the saga of the crumbled Hard Rock Hotel in New Orleans continues.

Under the backdrop of a block of the city’s most busiest street closed off, and continuing to be so well into the future, and the broken construction crane still dangling over Canal Street, the city has announced it may well have contracts to stabilize the crane, dismantle the crane and then take the building down. No word as how the dangling many-ton crane will be taken down but the hotel remains will be taken down through a controlled explosive demolition…you know, like the one that left half of a crane dangling over Canal?

The building to be demolished is smack downtown, right snug up against other hotels and stores, right on a main 170-foot wide street with a streetcar line as well as traffic lanes. The company picked to do the work has had previous problems with controlled explosions, especially one that severely injured some bystanders, including one who had his leg blown off. The company’s had numerous fines and has refused to answer questions from local stations as to these incidents and local safety concerns. Some 10 floors are going to be dropped and even IF they all stay within the footprint of the hotel we still have the vibrations of not only the cutting charges but thousands of tons of concrete and steel cascading down onto the ground.

The buildings on Canal are old and the soil underneath is jello. The utilities run through antique tunnels underground (every few years one explodes) and the vibrations will be transferred to them…and those old buildings touching on either side. The implosion project’s best-guess for completion is sometime mid-January with maybe 6 months more of cleanup after that…that’s best-guess, remember, and NOTHING goes right in this Democratic sinkhole city. We’re expecting this mess will go on much longer.

Meantime there are stores and other businesses inside of the closedoff area that have been shuttered now for over a month with at least no sign of opening for at least the next 5 months. Most of them will be bankrupt long before that and so far the city’s all but ignored them…though knowing the city I’m betting that the city pols already have friends lined up to take over those choice spots.

Interesting point is that alllll through this mess Her Honor the Mayor and the rest of the city fathers/mothers have stuffed themselves into every camera lens they can, sometimes shoving and writhing for space. Her Honor was right there, telling the viewers that she was in charge and this all was quickly and efficiently going to go away, even after the crane demolition went badly. Now that the Marx Brothers have been chosen to make this mess potentially messier neither she nor any other elected or appointed member of city government is to be seen. She’s at all of the feel-good sites like the completion of Phase 2 of the Bourbon Street cleanup and anything involving puppies and kittens BUT when it came to the announcement of the imp[losion method being chosen and the contract being let to a company with a questionable past the only person making the announcement was the city Fire Chief. There he was, alone on a dreary street, a handful of papers an no one from the city in sight. Even the news cameraman pulled back to show the Chief totally alone on an empty street. He didn’t sound happy either. It’s looking like they’ve dropped full responsibility for any failure right into his lap even though the city let the developers pick the contractor to do the demolition.

Lost in the background…OK, the city’s trying to bury it in the background…is the fact that city building inspectors should have caught the mess prior to the collapse and, oh yeah, there are city building inspectors in Federal court in unrelated cases of taking bribes. I’m sure there are frantic efforts to not only limit the city’s liability in this mess but also to pin any bad publicity on the last mayor/council…they were Democrats too but when cornered Rats resort to cannibalism. Let’s see how this mess plays out for Mardi Gras, which starts January 6th and ends February 25th…a short season. This mess is yet to play out.

Hughes preparing to testify before Senate War Investigating Committee, August 6, 1947. Despite his company’s poor performance on government contracts during the war and some questionable methods in obtaining those contracts, Hughes emerged from the hearings and in public opinion as a persecuted aviation hero, who bested the bumbling Republican-dominated committee bent on discrediting the Roosevelt administration and on protecting the transcontinental monopoly of Pan Am from Hughes’s TWA. Prior to his appearance, Hughes launched a vitriolic media campaign against the Committee and in particular against Senator Ralph Brewster through the Hearst newspapers.

Hughes: I suggest that you substitute for the entire page 227:

“In due time Hughes flew in from the West Coast, piloting his own plane, and disembarked at Washington with a minimum of toilet articles and one clean suit thrown over his shoulders. Having elaborately made reservations at the Mayflower Hotel, he proceeded at once to the Carlton Hotel, where he had hopes of finding a room which had not been equipped with a microphone. (His rooms at the Carlton, however, were later tapped by lowering a microphone down through a ventilating duct. The report is that all anyone ever monitored from these rooms was a phrase in which Hughes described Brewster in terms utterly unrepeatable in public – or in most private groups, for that matter.)”

Mueller’s jackboot 3:00am raid on the longtime Trump associate’s home & offices in Florida produced nothing of value to the prosecution. Still charges of obstruction, lying to Congress and witness tampering were leveled against Stone.

A Washington DC jury spent over 6 hours in deliberation before going home for the day. Proceedings will resume tomorrow, Friday morning. Looks like the best we can hope for is a hung jury as there is a least one confirmed Obama era federal employee in the group of 12 peers.
