Friday November 8th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Romans 13 — Civil Government or Church Government?

    by Pastor Ricky Kurth

“Is Romans 13 about obeying civil government or church government, as some are saying?”

In the context, it is true that Paul just finished speaking about “he that ruleth” in the local church (12:8). But the “rulers” in Chapter 13 bear a “sword” (v. 4) that cannot refer to “the sword of the Spirit” (Eph. 6:17) borne by church rulers, for he that bears it is called “a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil” (13:4). That doesn’t fit the role of rulers in a grace church, but it is an apt description of civil rulers. In the more immediate context, Paul has just finished quoting God as saying, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay” (12:19). So when Paul then goes on to call the bearer of the sword “a revenger,” he is explaining that God takes vengeance on evil doers in the dispensation of grace by the sword of civil government.

In return for their civil service, we are told to pay these rulers “tribute,” something paid to kings (Matt. 17:24,25; 22:17), not rulers in grace churches. The Jews paid tribute to Israel’s religious leaders (Num. 31:37-41) because they were a theocracy, a government ruled by God, and so paying tribute was just giving God His due. But the word “due” (Rom. 13:7) speaks of what is owed as a debt, and so “tribute” is a word that cannot be used of giving in the local church. Under grace, our giving is not done “of necessity” (2 Cor. 9:7).

Many notable virtuoso violinists were among his students, including Mischa Elman, Konstanty Gorski, Jascha Heifetz, Nathan Milstein, Toscha Seidel, Efrem Zimbalist, Georges Boulanger, Benno Rabinof, Kathleen Parlow, Julia Klumpke, Thelma Given, Sylvia Lent and Oscar Shumsky. Among these were “some of the greatest violinists” of the twentieth century.”

This video, from Sergey Baklykov’s “Real Russia” channel, includes some footage of some young violinists that is … pretty darned amazing! Thought some of you who appreciate classical music might enjoy this one….

Something has to be done about the Republican Party of Virginia. Is it possible for the national organization to dissolve it and replace it with a brand new one? I don’t see any route to winning elections in Virginia with the NeverTrumper-controlled RPV in the way.

These people did not even run candidates in dozens of races. The incompetence is off the charts, and I wonder to what degree it is sabotage as well.

    THE UNRIVALLED POWER OF PRAYER

“We know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Romans viii. 26

We realize that we are energized by the Holy Spirit for prayer; we know what it is to pray in the Spirit; but we do not so often realize that the Holy Spirit Himself prays in us prayers which we cannot utter. When we are born again of God and are indwelt by the Spirit of God, He expresses for us the unutterable.

“He, ” the Spirit in you, “maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God,” and God searches your heart not to know what your conscious prayers are, but to find out what is the prayer of the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit of God needs the nature of the believer as a shrine in which to offer His intercession. “Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost.” When Jesus Christ cleansed the temple, he “would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.” The Spirit of God will not allow you to use your body for your own convenience. Jesus ruthlessly cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and said – “My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.”

Have we recognized that our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost? If so, we must be careful to keep it undefiled for Him. We have to remember that our conscious life, though it is only a tiny bit of our personality, is to be regarded by us as a shrine of the Holy Ghost. He will look after the unconscious part that we know nothing of; but we must see that we guard the conscious part for which we are responsible.

We live in the kingdom of darkness but through Christ we are saved and are citizens of the KINGDOM OF GOD ( sorry, I love that part) prayer is a way of bringing that citizenship to manifest. “Pray always”?
I found a little golden nugget to share with you all. Phill 4:6 “be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and petition with THANKSGIVING present your request to God.”
See the ” with thanksgiving present your request”?
It’s your offering towards the request, an act of faith. Jesus spoke continuously about ‘seed planting’ and ‘ harvest’. It is the kingdom of God way.
We are in the sabbath through Jesus work. The “it is finished” was the restoration of Gods kingdom to man. The sabbath was created for man not man for the sabbath, a day of rest as in the garden. Jesus fulfilled the promise we have to access it.
Phill 4:6 is a key to that access. We are not slaves in Christ but sons and sons rule and reign with the king in ……THE KINGDOM. praise God.

And actually the government has already been overthrown we are in process of getting it back, that’s why you see no prosecutions on their side or enforcement of laws.
Nobody wants to say that, kinda like the ‘traitors’ word or ‘coup’ because ‘we the people’ will grab a pitchfork or something.

We are in the process of ‘trying’ to get it back. The opposition has followed Goebbels’ blueprint he set in place in the 30s, they control the high ground just as Goebbels did, they own the media and entertainment and those two are the drivers of Western culture.

People dismiss Goebbels and his works but the political engineers don’t. Goebbels was a Nazi but his ‘discoveries’ and tactics were any political shade, they are universals. Just as leading Rat engineers in the 60s and 70s studied Sun Tzu while Republican strategists poo-pooed the idea the Left started co-opting the driving forces behind social change decades before the Republicans realized they’d lost it. We’re in the middle of an uphill battle.

If the laws don’t work to ensure our safety and welfare then there must be some other action. I don’t believe we must kill the whole lot, although in truth it seems useful for future warnings as well solving this but, until they pull their guns on us our options are all still available.

To me, because of my background, I see a lot of comparisons with the US now and Germany in the 1920s. After WWI a defeated nd rather newly constituted German identity was crushed, their newly discovered nationalism was almost destroyed and the German people were looking to recapture and redefine their sense of national identity, purpose and pride.

After Vietnam the Left here started heavily chewing away at the traditional American identity, trying to replace it with a more progressive and Leftist ideology. From the factories to the colleges they slowly chipped away at our traditional morals and mores and replaced them with feel-good progressive ideologies.

In Germany the Communist progressives did the same thing and became so strong they challenged the government and military in armed battles in the streets. Many believe that the only thing which stopped them was the military being joined by the Freikorps (a German ‘militia’) which gave them the numbers and firepower to beat back the Russian-backed Communist units.

Hitler/Goebbels learned the lesson though and did what the Left did and disarmed the population, even leaving the civilian police with only light defensive weapons…they disarmed everyone. One might say just as the American
left is trying to do now but ahead of the curve, they don’t want to deal with an armed population or police units not under their control, note how they’re trying to disarm, if not under-arm local thru state police.

I’m waiting for the Federal authorities to start disarming, or underarming, the states’ National Guards, most likely by limiting their access to arms and ammunition through their storage at government controlled facilities. The Feds already had eliminated ammo storage at Reserve drill halls, even where weapons were stored, long before I retired and were working on it with the Guard. Even way back when, even when we had arms rooms strengthened into vaults with alarms connected directly to police headquarters, the Feds didn’t trust their own military to store ammunition on the same grounds as the weapons.

Ah well, it’s all just Trump-inspired white supremacist paranoia.

I’d posted this either here or next door just a few days ago. My post was more directed to how in a regime change the Left wins there are necessary executions (some less pejorative term is usually used) either by up against the wall’ (usually reserved for the more contemptible hi-profile losers) to labor camps where you’re forgotten about as you die in slow motion.

The Right all too frequently gives the losing left band aids and a cuppa warm chocolate while sending them on their way to commiserate over their failures and polish their comeback plans. The Left takes their failed opponents and disposes of them in a way that not only serves as a warning to others but removes them permanently from the regime change process. If nothing else the Jeft wins by active attrition.

I wanted to share an observation I have about our Government situation.
I see a direct parallel with it and the battle between Satan and Gods followers or the kingdom of darkness and Gods kingdom. just as the ones in power in our world fight with everything they have to retain their power so is Satan. Specifically at this time in history the battle is obvious.
In any great adversity there is equal or greater blessing from God, like childbirth. We have seen so much in our generation and I believe what is ahead will not disappoint.

    ZH piece today re: bitcoin.

    https://www.zerohedge.com/crypto/fbi-warns-crypto-significant-problem-will-get-bigger-and-bigger

“Former Presidential Candidate and Republican Senator from Utah, Mitt Romney, asked the intelligence officers whether the U.S. should not take some kind of effort in dealing with cryptocurrencies and its challenges they present to law enforcement’s anti-terrorist activities. He said:

“I’m not in the Banking Committee. I don’t begin to understand how cryptocurrency works. I would think it is more difficult to carry out your work when we can’t follow the money because the money is hidden from us and wonder whether there should not be some kind of effort taken in our nation to deal with cryptocurrency.”

FBI Director Wray took the lead in answering the question, saying that cryptocurrencies already present a problem for the agency. He stated:

“For us, cryptocurrency is already a significant issue and we can project out pretty easily that it’s going to become a bigger and bigger one. Whether or not that is the subject of some kind of regulation as the response is harder for me to speak to.”

Wray concluded his answer by saying that the FBI is already keeping an eye on cryptocurrencies, using “tools that we have to try to follow the money.” The FBI director also said that if the U.S. doesn’t keep up with new technologies, it will soon find itself being “walled off.”

I wonder how this plays into that thing China is going to launch? It was mentioned in that piece I linked yesterday – I think (but don’t know for sure) that it’s some sort of cryptocurrency, aimed at further destruction of the US$ as useful in international trade. That excerpt from today’s piece on bitcoin seems to indicate that a lot of our guys don’t even know how cryptos work….
