          Serious question;
Are the Democrats ‘better off’ having won the House majority in 2018 midterms, than they would be if they had not?

And, the corolary; are we, and PDJT worse off, having ‘lost’the House majoriry in 2018?

While its a hypothetical, and so we can’t know for sure what would have happened,…seems to me a good argument can be made that the best outcome was for the Dems to ‘win’control of the House, and for us to ‘lose’ it.

Especially given the feckless leadership by Ryan, which his hand picked succesor would have continued.

The Dems would allege that Republican control was preventing them from impeachment inquiries,..etc.

Yeah, I don’t see that ‘we’Deplorables lost a thing, in the midterms. The RepubliCON party surrendered seats, Paul Ryan gift wrapped the gavel and gave it to Pelosi.

Not because he Wanted this outcome, mind you, but because he mistakenly thought it would hurt PDJT.

WE didn’t “lose the House” in 2018.

“Losing” or more accurately, “gifting” the House, gave RepubliCONS the perfect cover to *feign* outrage at the subsequent actions of the Demonrats. (Let’s hope that no one is fooled by them.)

Otherwise, they would have had to continue obstructing their own President and MAGA voters, right out in the open, like they did for two years while they held the majority in both houses

              Get em out!!

I hope that VSGPDJT has a short list of acceptable MAGA candidates to primary all that dead wood.

Every time I hear Nancy Pelosi, Jerry Nadler, Adam Schiff and the liars, haters and extremists, aka, The Squad speak, I labor under no confusion as to who won and who lost in ’18. In fact, I maintain it is We, the Deplorables that definitely lost because Never Trumpers, weak kneed conservatives and the Socialist Left all colluded whether they will admit it or not, to beat us. They won because they have obstructed border security and law enforcement at the border. They have intimidated, threatened, obstructed in everything. That makes all of us less safe. The entire country, Deplorables included, are suffering because of the ’18 election. Seems pretty clear.

Excellent observation by Dutchman. I had not looked at it that way, but he just might be right. Ryan did more to thwart President Trump than Pelosi possibly could and it was under the cover of his being a Republican (which to me is debatable anyway). That they got nothing done was blamed on President Trump. Now the obstruction has no (Ryan) invisibility cloak. Furthermore that the GOP is full of RINOs and DIDs (Democrats in Disguise) it is obvious. Good points, Dutchman. Thanks.

Moreover, when your agent (Ryan and other RINOs) misrepresents you and you suffer an unfavorable outcome (loss of House), you lose.

I would be delighted to see her on the SCOTUS. However, I think the confirmation process would be an extreme experience for her and would create very divisive conflict across the country.

Moreover, the Planned Parenthood shills Collins and Murkowski are sure to vote against her and, IMO, a sufficient number of “No” votes will be collected from among the usual RINO cabal to defeat her confirmation.

Blasey-Ford can lie under oath and skate. General Flynn can get a date wrong and he gets indicted. Same with George Papadopoulos, Scooter Libby.

You and I can’t send classified government information over our insecure servers without going to jail, but Hillary Clinton CAN.

General Petraeus couldn’t have one classified document in his home w/o losing his job, Hillary Clinton could send classified documents to a laptop accessed by a convicted sex offender (Huma’s hubby — Carlos Danger — forget his real name).

Barack Obama can sic the IRS on political opponents, but Nixon committed an impeachable offense by CONSIDERING it.

Bill Clinton can suborn perjury for something HE DID but Richard Nixon gets tossed out of office for trying to cover up something he DIDN’T DO (order the Watergate breakin).

Treepers know the rest of the list.

Keep all this in mind when you pick your political party. If you choose a D behind your name, you can do just about anything you want and the media will cover for you. Put an R behind your name and the media will report as fact any accusation anyone wishes to level at you.

The Senate royally screwed up by not having Blasey-Ford et al prosecuted for all of their lies. That would have put a stop to a lot of these false accusers if they thought it might cost them a few years in prison. Now a lot of people that Trump might want to appoint to the Supreme Court will not want to go through this liberal gauntlet and have their reputations falsely destroyed.

Thanks, LydiaOO. A good report, but I don’t think the prosecution can necessarily make this go away by dismissing with prejudice. Sidney’s motion expressly puts in question whether the prosecutors should be held in criminal contempt for willfully disobeying an express order of the court, by not having previously produced everything she requests as Brady material, and for falsely denying that martial they did produce was Brady material. Lying to the court is a felony, and when knowingly done by members of the bar is also grounds for disbarment.

I think Sullivan would have to follow through with a demand to DOJ to investigate and report. And if they propose to dismiss with prejudice, that will be a form of admission of their guilt.

On Dec. 29, 2016, the Obama administration announced that it was giving nearly three dozen Russian diplomats just 72 hours to leave the United States and was seizing two rural East Coast estates owned by the Russian government…

    *snip*

“When we found out about this, the light bulb went on — that this could be why we haven’t seen [certain types of] activity” from known Russian spies in the United States, said a former senior intelligence official.

The compromise of FBI systems occurred not long after the White House’s 2010 decision to arrest and expose a group of “illegals” – Russian operatives embedded in American society under deep non-official cover – and reflected a resurgence of Russian espionage. Just a few months after the illegals pleaded guilty in July 2010, the FBI opened a new investigation into a group of New York-based undercover Russian intelligence officers. These Russian spies, the FBI discovered, were attempting to recruit a ring of U.S. assets — including Carter Page, an American businessman who would later act as an unpaid foreign policy adviser to Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

The breaches also spoke to larger challenges faced by U.S. intelligence agencies in guarding the nation’s secrets, an issue highlighted by recent revelations, first published by CNN, that the CIA was forced to extract a key Russian asset and bring him to the U.S. in 2017. The asset was reportedly critical to the U.S. intelligence community’s conclusion that Russian President Vladimir Putin had personally directed the interference in the 2016 presidential election in support of Donald Trump.

….Around the same time, Russian spies also compromised the FBI teams’ backup communications systems — cellphones outfitted with “push-to-talk” walkie-talkie capabilities. “This was something we took extremely seriously,” said a former senior counterintelligence official….

        Lastly, too delicious to omit:

“The FBI teams were using relatively lightweight radios with limited range, according to former officials. These low-tech devices allowed the teams to move quickly and discreetly while tracking their targets, which would have been more difficult with clunkier but more secure technology, a former official said. But the outdated radios left the teams’ communications vulnerable to the Russians. “The amount of security you employ is the inverse of being able to do things with flexibility, agility and at scale,” said the former official.

A former senior counterintelligence official blamed the compromises on a “hodgepodge of systems” ineffective beyond the line of sight. “The infrastructure that was supposed to be built, they never followed up, or gave us the money for it,” said the former official. “The intelligence community has never gotten an integrated system.”

The limitations of the radio technology, said the former senior officials, led the FBI’s surveillance personnel to communicate on the backup systems.

“Eventually they switched to push-to-talk cellphones,” said a former counterintelligence executive. “The tech guys would get upset by that, because if they could intercept radio, they might be able to intercept telephones.”

WTH? we’re supposed to believe, in 2010>>, our IC relied on outdated “communications” not even my 8 year old grandchild would be excited to find under the Christmas tree?

and the excuse….”The infrastructure that was supposed to be built, they never followed up, or gave us the money for it,” would be laughable, were it not so infuriating.

Make NEW alliances with countries that are our friends and let the others take care of their own defense (Germany, France) while at the same time maintaining their much vaunted social welfare sates. Uh, yup!

They are stalling and piecemealing investigations to prevent OBVIOUS connecting of the dots leading to a conclusion of seditious criminal conspiracy by a large enough percentage the public who might then DEMAND equal justice under the law (which is the -ONLY- thing that will bring that about) while at the same time INTENTIONALLY avoiding OFFICIALLY connecting the dots themselves. In other words, divide it all up into small bits distributed among many people and take an absolutely inexcusably long time to investigate each (McCabe was fired 18 MONTHS ago!). As an added “benefit,” if Trump loses in 2020 it all goes away.

The pipelines for the Pars field are in place and underway. Russia’s wooing Turkey, first with S-400s and now the hot-to-trot SU-27 to replace the F-35s we pulled back. Russia’s also playing with giving Turkey back a chunk of Syria that Turkey says was part of the Ottoman Empire that Turkey wants to reclaim.

Russia already has gas lines running through Turkey and Greece to supply Europe through its southern route and still has plans for a LNG port in Syria that will supply Central and South America, among other places. Russia has had plans to run petro lines through Turkey for a long time, it’s part of a strategy to neutralize Turkey as a NATO asset on Russia’s southern flank, make the Black Sea Fleet relevant again and project power in the Med.

            Take a look: https://www.mondialisation.ca/the-geopolitics-of-oil-and-gas-pipelines-in-the-middle-east/5492595

This has been in the plans for years, well before the Syria mess started. The Russians held on to Syria with bare claws, it was their last and best base in the Mideast. Their plans are to get Gulf gas, and the Pars complex is about the biggest in the world, into their streams for Europe and western export. Their southern lines are in operation, ensuring that the old Bloc countries can’t interrupt Russian flow to Europe when they want higher transit fees.

The Russians, like the Chinese, readily adopted capitalist business practices backed by the full weight of their government. I’d predicted, no big shakes, years back when Syria started to destabilize that were it to look bad for Assad Russia would step in and not only save him but sit on Syria as its own. Russia’s situated itself deeply into the Mideast and has lines on the ground and in the works. It provides a secure transit of petro from the Gulf through the Levant saving the Gulf producers a lot in shipping fees, and it can tie them into its European lines.

Look at Gazprom’s transmission map: https://www.gazprom.com/about/production/transportation/

Note that Gazprom’s route not only goes through multiple routes to Europe but is heading towards China . There’s work being done in Syria but note the transmission lines on the map in Syria head to the Gulf, once the outlands are secured those will link to the Gulf. Iran should be able to pump billions of cubic feet of gas a day with Gazprom taking about 30% of that into its lines. Do you think the US would be able to stop Iran from exporting gas through Russian lines? If the US did manage to ‘discourage’ the other companies getting South Pars gas from selling Russia could just step up the transmission.

You can see the Black Sea influence in the Russian petro plans, an obvious reason Russia stepped back into the Crimea to ensure its strategic naval base at Sevastopol stays safe to protect its Black Sea and Med interests. Russia’s got a lock on this – wonder why Obama didn’t do more to blunt these moves?

The USSR and now “Russia” have been propping up the Assad family fortunes since 1956 in return for their major base in Latakia, Syria. By adding Turkey to the equation and having Turkey pull out NATO, Russian access via the Bosporus becomes allot easier. Also, the removal of NATO & US facilities in Turkey would be an huge INTEL win for the Russians, as in denying access that has existed for nearly 70 years.

Of course Erdogan, in Turkey, will first have rounds of bidding between the EU-NATO-US-Russia before making his middle of the road “Byzantine” like answer of giving a little to everybody to keep all the bidders involved as well as at each other’s throats..

Assad at this time, is along for the ride if he wants to literally survive.

It would have been much more of an asset had %$#@&% Germany not blocked its admission to the EU for decades, that’s a big part of why Turkey joined NATO and a reason it’s cozying up to Russia.

I read the NYT story. At the end, it said that the story was based on the book.

IOW, the story was a Reader’s Digest version of the book. Not a NYT reporter covering a news story that has popped up because a book is coming out.

This is an extremely low level of “journalism,” and may not even count as “journalism.”

It is like when we would write “reports” in grade school, and all we did was copy down what the encyclopedia said.

It is possible that the article was run with some financial deal – book promotion deal. IOW, that may have been an “article” paid for by the publisher. It would be interesting if that bit of the entire deal were to leak out.

We can be pretty sure that the matter of running the story was all coordinated by a handful of like-minded Progressives. What I am adding is: was there a money incentive in the entire deal?

Well, well, well, look what I found!

“Sen. Lindsey Graham, we’re still waiting. We’re still waiting for that flash of righteous indignation you showcased during the confirmation hearings of now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh to turn into action. You know, when you turned to your Democrat colleagues and seethed that their efforts to “destroy this guy’s life” were “the most despicable things that I have seen in politics.” We’re still waiting for that tie-straightening smile in the face of protestors to turn into . . . something.

Yes, Kavanaugh was confirmed. But that isn’t justice. Justice requires consequences for those who tarnished the man and lied to Senate Judiciary investigators and committee members. Justice requires consequences for Christine Blasey Ford and her handlers.

Your inaction has so inspired the left that not even a year after Ford professed to senators, while under oath, that she was not “acting out of partisan political motives” in testifying that Kavanaugh had attempted to rape her while they were both high school students, Ford’s attorney Debra Katz felt no qualms about telling an audience that Roe v. Wade was part of Ford’s motivation.
          …….
So, now in addition to the many contradictions and inconsistencies in Ford’s testimony, as well as the evidence that Ford lied about whether she had provided guidance to anyone on taking a polygraph test, there is evidence Ford lied about her apolitical motivation in coming forward—and to top it off, her own family didn’t even believe her.

Ford isn’t going away. She just laid low long enough to feel safe, as did Kavanaugh’s other putative accusers and the liberal press. So emboldened are the left now that The New York Times dares to tweet out that “having a penis thrust in your face at a drunken dorm party may seem like harmless fun. But when Brett Kavanaugh did it to her, Deborah Ramirez says, it confirmed that she didn’t belong at Yale in the first place.””

Seriously, this is a case in the here and now staring at us in the face. We will worry about RBG speculation and when that time comes. Because we need to hold them accountable to what they’re doing now to Kavanaugh. Not why or wherefore. They are lying, they are smearing. Smack them with the full force of the law. And let’s face it, they will attack whoever a Republican president nominates from hereon out.

Shall we have a massive campaign in contacting Lindsay Graham about this?

          Dear Senator Graham,

I am writing you as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary “Committee. As you are well aware, Justice Kavanaugh is being attacked and smeared again. And as you are aware, he is a good man who has been unjustly accused. I recall you said you were going to get to the bottom of what happened the last time. Since then, more evidence has come out that Christine Blasey Ford and her team are liars who were out to attack a conservative opponent to their ideology to stop his confirmation. I suspect you never even got an investigation started. I hope you aren’t allowing this injustice to continue and sweep it under the rug thinking it would go away and will be forgotten. It hasn’t and it never will. This man and his family have been put through the ringer and therefore, the American people with this travesty as well. The time is yesterday to have started this to not only clear a good man’s name, but to bring the corrupt instigating attackers to justice. The Democrats will never stop and will also do it to the next person and on and on if they aren’t prosecuted.
