Friday July 19th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

I Have Set Thee A Watchman

The Prophet Ezekiel was appointed by God as a “watchman” over the house of Israel (Ezek. 33:7). He was held responsible to warn the wicked from their way, for while God must deal justly with sin, He had declared: “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live” (Ver. 11).

If Ezekiel failed to warn the wicked, they would die in their sins, but their blood would nevertheless be required at his hand. If he faithfully warned them, however, and they refused to heed the warning, they would die in their sins, but he would be absolved of all responsibility (See Vers. 8,9).

Would some Christian reader remind us that we are living under another dispensation and that our message is one of grace? True enough, but this does not diminish, it increases our responsibility toward the lost.

If we believers carelessly allow the lost to go to Christless graves are we not morally responsible for their doom, and will we not be held accountable at the Judgment Seat of Christ? (See II Cor. 5:10,11). This is why we find Paul reminding the Ephesian elders that he had not ceased to warn men “night and day with tears” (Acts 20:31).

As the Apostle looked back over his ministry among the Ephesians he could say: “I take you to record this day that I am pure from the blood of all men” (Ver. 26). And this had been true of his ministry in general. Indeed, it was now his desire that, whatever the cost, he might finish his course with joy, and the ministry which he had received of the Lord Jesus, to testify “the gospel of the grace of God” (Ver. 24).

God give us who are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, a greater sense of our responsibility toward the lost!

    By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

Ezekiel 33:7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

Ezekiel 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

Ezekiel 33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

Acts 20:26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

We had a feeder that was used by many, many hummingbirds. A big hummer came with a little bitty one one day. It must have been a mother and her baby. No other hummers even tried to get to the feeder, not even one we called Knothead. He was a very aggressive, vicious bird. He tried once and was chased off and wouldn’t come any closer than about 6 ft away after that. The mother hummers are very protective.

They’re all aggressive here though we love having them. When we don’t see them for a day or so we know the Red Tail Hawks are around close. We have owls too. By us here in the S. Plains they’re 90% Ruby hummingbirds. And we have one like the small one you see too. Has to be around an inch and a quarter as of the last visit we happened to see. Shows up alone the few times we’ve seen him (or her). In the fall, just before their migration south again, it’s war out there for about 2 weeks as they fill up on the sugar water. And I mean aerial combat. Then the number of them dwindles down until they’re gone for the winter

Father is in control and the clock is running out. Many don’t understand we’re living in the final generation. Just going to posit this here to help those who need it:

Rev. 17.9 KJV: And here is the mind which has wisdom. …seven heads are seven mountains…[mountains = nations in control of Jerusalem].

Rev. 17.10 KJV: And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh he must continue a short space.

      Nation/Kingdom 1. Babylon. [2100’s B.C.]
      Nation/Kingdom 2. Medial Persia. [until 328 B.C.]
      Nation/Kingdom 3. Greece. [until 27 B.C.]
      Nation/Kingdom 4. Rome. [until 395 A.D.]
      Nation/Kingdom 5. Egypt/Mohammedan. [until 1948 A.D.] ‘1st five are fallen’.
Nation/Kingdom 6. Fig Tree [or final] generation [Now]. ‘One is’. [1948 A.D. until the end.] When Judea returned to the Holy Temple Mount. The heathen gentiles are still there too [aka. Satan worshipping terrorists, aka Islamists, got it?].
Nation/Kingdom 7. The Beast [Satan returns]. ‘Not yet come’. NWO

Mark 13.30 [Christ speaking] “..this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done”.

  14. just stevie says:

“Ye call Me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.” John xiii. 13.

Our Lord never insists on having authority; He never says – Thou shalt. He leaves us perfectly free – so free that we can spit in His face, as men did; so free that we can put Him to death, as men did; and He will never say a word. But when His life has been created in me by His Redemption, I instantly recognize His right to absolute authority over me. It is a moral domination – “Thou are worth…” It is only the unworthy in me that refuses to bow down to the worthy. If when I meet a man who is more holy than myself, I do not recognize his worthiness and obey what comes through him, it is a revelation of the unworthy in me. God educates us by means of people who are a little better than we are, not intellectually but “holier,” until we get under the domination of the Lord Himself, and then the whole attitude of the life is one of obedience to Him.

If Our Lord insisted upon obedience He would become a taskmaster, and He would cease to have any authority. He never insists on obedience, but when we do see Him we obey Him instantly, He is easily Lord, and we live in adoration of Him from morning till night. The revelation of my growth in grace is the way in which I look upon obedience. We have to rescue the word “obedience” from the mire. Obedience is only possible between equals; it is the relationship between father and son, not between master and servant. “I and My Father are one.” “Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered.” The Son’s obedience was as Redeemer, because He was Son, not in order to be Son.

The real reason why Trump distanced himself from ‘Send her back’ chants?
          By Thomas Lifson – July 19, 2019

Lifson indicates that IF the Justice Department is already investigating, our President will have to step back from commenting on Omar or anything to do with her crimes. So if it looks like President Trump is changing his stance, remember he’s always on the side of justice and does not want to interfere if it endangers a potential charge, trial, etc.

We know the communists (in collusion with jihadists) who are running Omar’s show will accuse President Trump of collusion. Their game plan is to continue making him out to be the bad guy.

Speaking these days of insults, name-calling, general harsh words, and telling people where to go…

You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell?

“But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.” (Yes, the king in the parable wants to ensure and enjoy the execution of his enemies!)

“You hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

“A woman came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” And hH answered, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” (Yes, the woman is compared to a dog!)

You fools and blind men: which is more important, the gold, or the temple that sanctified the gold?”

“He made a whip out of cords and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.”

    My emphasis above.

      1. To the secular world, those who can only grasp flesh and the dimensions before us.
      2. To the spiritual world, the few who understand the “tombs” represent the churches of the ‘end days’. The ‘unclean bones’ are the teachers who are dead inside and misleading others through false interpretation of the Word. Blind leading the blind.
      3. To Apostles [true teachers] not Disciples [students] who can help the Disciples and others understand #’s 2 & 3 thereby growing the True Church.

I hope you take this as it’s intended, not talking down, but trying to raise up those who are blessed with ‘eyes to see’. God bless.

  29. czarowniczy says:

Some of you may have been aware of a recent incident in NOLA where a brass band was playing in the Quarter and blocking people from entering a store. The store owners asked the band to move but the band ignored them so the owners called NOPD. NOPD responded, the band moved and NOPD left.

Twenty minutes later the owners called NOPD sagain, the band was back and blocking the store’s front door again. NOPD Responded again and as one of the officers was talking to a black trumpet player in the band the agitated trumpeter approached an officer in a less than friendly way. The officer warned him back, the trumpet player refused to calm down and back off, he even got within what we used to refer to as ‘danger close’, less than a foot away. The officer firmly pushed the trumpet guy back, as we were trained to do (OK, push ANYONE back that close, not just trumpet players…sheesh) and the trumpeter resisted, refused the officer’s orders and raised his trumpet in what could be taken as a threatening manner.

Long story short – officers told him he was under arrest, he refused to comply and was taken down. Some members of the crowd surged forward against police orders and police deployed but DID NOT fire their tasers. Perp was taken in but under what was unstated but undoubted political pressure the charges were dropped and the perp released.

Usual suspects, BGI, BLM, black politicians, all started blasting the officers for overreacting and brutality, especially since the trumpeter is supposed to be autistic, though he plays a trumpet in a street band and NO ON mentioned his ‘condition’. The impression left, though there was never any corroboration the trumpeter was autistic, was that brutal white NOPD was beating and illegally arresting a poor, developmentally disabled street musician.

Well, weeks after they received the body cam data on the incident, and unedited cell camera video, it’s quite apparent the officers not only conducted themselves properly but the perp was 110% wrong – a fact the apologizers are whitewashing by saying “but he’s autistic!”.

So the city and politicians in NOPD KNEW damn good and well that the officers were innocent but let the cloud of lies hover over them and ferment. They release the ‘they’re innocent’ news late in the day on a Friday – and you know what that means. The officers the city fired after a perp they were chasing crashed into a business and a patron was killed had their firing released early by the city’s Inquisitors, to great fanfare pageantry. Innocent officers…not so much.

If morale doesn’t pick up, if the line officers don’t trust the rank has their backs, the city’s going to have to go back to cooking the crime books because we’ll be at rock bottom for street officers.

He belives strongly we’re gonna’ NEED those rights. Interesting take.

          • czarowniczy says:

As I’ve posted before, the Police Chiefs are generally less ‘cop’ than politician. Think blue-collar worker who decided to become a politician.

Chiefs are either elected or appointed by the city, not put into position by the rank and file. In the former casse their primary allegiance is to the political machine that elected them, in the latter it’s to the politicians.

Their primary ‘union’, the IACP, has been left-leaning for decades, it’s hard to say ‘chicken or egg’ but its show of support for street officers is more like the Democrat’s support for the poor working slob out on the street.

I watched a string of them nearly destroy our PD, we have two officers on death row for murder and more than a dozen more in prison for other serious crimes. We had a revolving door for officers, other PDs around the country knew that they could come here and recruit trained officers easily, it was like a fast-food store for police, we were always well below the minimum number of officers needed to manage the city. There is also a host of other less serious problems with the department that existed unchecked through a number of Chiefs, these may have subsided or the department’s just more effectively clamped down on leaks.

We had officers who were thrown under the bus by the politicians and police rank after Katrina. The department fell apart like wet tissue in the storm, and the fault for that rests nowhere but squarely on the shoulders of the Chiefs and city administration then and prior. Were it not for the work of some dedicated officers who basically commandeered buildings and built stations for officers the situation would have been far worse. The rank set up almost immediately in a posh hotel in town and set up a comparative luxury command post while rank and file wallowed in filth, wearing the same uniform for weeks, sleeping on floors, showering (if they could) outside with a garden hose and eating what they could scrounge until FEMA could sloooowly get MREs in. Guess who took credit for the officer’s independent work?

Note that when the city ordered those citizens who remained behind be forcibly disarmed or even forcibly and illegally forcibly evacuated the rank and file PD were reluctant to follow the pol’s orders, they knew the orders were illegal. One of the first things the state legislature did after the storm cleared was pass laws preventing forcible disarmament or evacuation for natural disasters and protect a person’s rights to be evacuated with their pets. Guess who objected?

Chiefs have too much power and are generally protected from the review of the citizens by the politicians who own them. Sorry about the length but this is a sore issue.

That’s how officers are backed by their ‘leadership’. Even though they were found innocent in state and Federal courts they were fired and their defense cost them thousands they’re still paying back.
