Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

I was impressed about a lot of things about Jon Voight in this interview. He seemed to have so much humility. He didn’t try to hog the attention at all. He didn’t interrupt. He was very sincere about his willingness to use his notoriety for something worthwhile. In fact, the way I understood it, he was looking for something worthwhile to be involved in for July 4. The Goldstar mom, Karen Vaughn, seemed so comfortable next to him. He is such a Patriot.

    What’s the Difference?
    by Pastor Ricky Kurth
What’s the difference between a piano and a fish? You can tune a piano, but you can’t tuna fish!

While you may have never wondered about the difference between a piano and a fish, you may have wondered about the difference in the various types of prayer that Paul mentions in I Timothy 2:1:

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.”

The word “supplication” means to ask someone for something (I Kings 8:52; Esther 4:8). Some grace believers are uncomfortable asking God for things, but it is our own apostle Paul who encourages us to “let your requests be made known unto God” (Phil. 4:6). Just try not to be as selfish as unbelievers are when they pray. I once saw a comic strip that featured God sitting at a computer and saying to an angel, “I need to set up a spam filter to block requests to win the lottery!” While Paul says to let your requests be made known unto God “in every thing,” the more you mature in Christ, the less selfish your requests will be.

If you’re wondering what the difference is between “supplications” and “prayers,” don’t tell anyone! You see, if you are wondering that, it means you think the word “prayer” means to ask God for things! But there are lots of other things you can say to God in prayer. You can praise Him for His goodness and His grace, or just talk to Him about whatever is on your heart. If you have children who only call when they need something, you know how God feels if all you ever do is ask Him for things.

You can also make “intercessions” to God in prayer. Intercessions are selfless prayers prayed to God solely on behalf of others, the kind of prayer the Lord prays for us (Rom. 8:34).

The final type of prayer Paul mentions is the “giving of thanks.” This kind of prayer needs no explanation, but it can usually use some exhortation!

Now that we’ve defined these prayers, I’d like to submit for your consideration that Paul mentioned them in a specific sequence that reflects the order of spiritual maturity. When you were first saved, your prayers mostly consisted of asking God for things. But as you matured in the Lord, you began to “pray” more, praising God and talking to Him about whatever was on your heart. Then, more and more, the focus of your prayers moved away from yourself to others, and you began interceding for them more than for yourself. Perhaps you’ve already arrived at the point where you mostly just thank God when you bow before the throne of His grace.

If not, if you’ve never spent an entire season of prayer just thanking God, I can’t recommend it enough. Since Paul mentions it last in this list of prayers that reflects the order of spiritual maturity, I believe it to be the highest form of prayer that you can pray to God.

Interesting read on how our loss of mfg base has endangered our national security, as well as the consolidation of defense contractors

This story of lost American leadership and production is not unique. In fact, the destruction of America’s once vibrant military and commercial industrial capacity in many sectors has become the single biggest unacknowledged threat to our national security. Because of public policies focused on finance instead of production, the United States increasingly cannot produce or maintain vital systems upon which our economy, our military, and our allies rely. Huawei is just a particularly prominent example.

On Friday, Hillary Clinton rounded out a striking week of moral hypocrisy. After starting the week excoriating Donald Trump’s “horrific” policy toward children of illegal immigrants, she ended the week praising Ireland for legalizing the killing of unborn children.

FLASHBACK, October 18, 2016 | Obama to Trump: “Stop Whining,” “No Serious Person” Believes U.S. Elections Can Be Rigged Or Stolen
    July 14, 2017

“There is no serious person out there who would suggest that you could even rig America’s elections, in part because they are so decentralized. There is no evidence that that has happened in the past, or that there are instances that that could happen this time,” the president said to the future president in October 2016.

FTA – There’s a reason why you should always be skeptical of conventional wisdom when it comes to elections.
Conventional wisdom said Trump should have been finished after almost every 2016 primary debate. It didn’t happen. There are many reasons for that, not the least of which is that what gets the juices flowing for beltway insiders may not appeal to normal people.

With all due respect to the top oddsmakers, that’s incredibly stupid. Debates rarely have such an dramatic effect so as to boost someone languishing in the mid single digits above a guy who’s pushing 40%. In this case, it was a 2 minute exchange. Harris did not dominate the rest of the debate and actually may have alienated some voters by tacking so far left.

Harris, despite all the media fawning and selfies with Mika, is still a sucker’s bet at this point.

    DIRECTION OF DISCIPLINE

“And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” Matthew v. 30

Jesus did not say that everyone must cut off the right hand, but – If your right hand offends you in your walk with Me, cut it off. There are many things that are perfectly legitimate, but if you are going to concentrate on God you cannot do them. Your right hand is one of the best things you have, but, says Jesus, if it hinders you in following His precepts, cut it off. This line of discipline is the sternest one that ever struck mankind.

When God alters a man by regeneration, the characteristic of the life to begin with is that it is maimed. There are a hundred and one things you dare not do, things that to you and in the eyes of the world that knows you are as your right hand and your eye, and the unspiritual person says – Whatever is wrong in that? How absurd you are! There never has been a saint yet who did not have to live a maimed life to start with. But it is better to enter into life maimed and lovely in God’s sight than to be lovely in man’s sight and lame in God’s. In the beginning Jesus Christ by His Spirit has to check you from doing a great many things that may be perfectly right for everyone else but not right for you. See that you do not use your limitations to criticize someone else.

It is a maimed life to begin with, but in v. 48 Jesus gives the picture of a perfectly full-orbed life – “Ye shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Your right hand is also the hand of power, in any reference by God. So, thy right hand of power is your perceived source of power. It would contend with Gods position in your life. Be it money or status, job, intellect. God must be your motivation, your love for him.

The station also got “Healthy Soles,” a $5,000 machine that people can stand on for eight seconds while it uses the same technology to clean the soles of their shoes after they come into the building.

The machine can decontaminate the shoes from bacteria that can be tracked in when officers walk through the streets of downtown L.A. and step on feces and other dirt.

So very tired of kick-ass combat womyn, who always drop down from the heavens and land in that one fist on the ground landing. It’s all so boring.

I found this trailer for a new movie called “The Good Liar,” and it looks interesting.

    Excerpt:

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin signed a bill Tuesday allowing Bible courses to be taught in public schools.

The bill allows local school boards the option of developing a class for students to understand the role the Bible played in American history, according to WDRB-TV. The class would be an elective.

“The idea that we would not want this to be an option for people in school, that would be crazy. I don’t know why every state would not embrace this, why we as a nation would not embrace this,” Bevin, who is a Republican, said during a ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda.

Abuse to a child leaves dependence. Confusion allows these children to be manipulated.
The absence of God in any life is inhabited by some form of evil, devil, Satan, demon, that would define the schools and teachers who would present this lie to destroy an innocent life.
The truth unabashed. This comes from the wide birth homosexuality has been given.

Eph 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers the authorities, against the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly realms”
Eph 3:10 his intent was that through the church the manifold wisdom of God should be made known TO THE RULERS AND AUTHORITIES IN HEAVENLY REALMS, according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus.

See that? We make known to the rulers and authorities in heavenly realms, what God says.

For a couple of weeks now, I’ve been focused on … what WAS it about the Samaritans? I know there is SOMETHING that I should be understanding about them…but it eluded me. We’d read the parable of the Good Samaritan, I already knew about St. Photini at the well, I’ve learned the basic history of the Samaritans (they were jews who did NOT get removed to Babylon in that captivity). There was another relationship to the Samaritans that caught my attention (I forget now exactly what it was) but it really puzzled me. I felt strongly that there was SOMETHING about the Samaritans that I was missing – something that I need to understand but I’m just not getting ….

Tonight’s podcast – John Chapter 4 – BOOM there it is!

There is a clear difference in what the two groups (Jews in Jerusalem/Samaritans in Samaria) were looking for/expecting from the Messiah. Jews of Jerusalem wanted a King in the tradition of David who would annihilate the Romans. The SAMARITANS, on the other hand, were looking for/expecting the Messiah to … “TELL US ALL THINGS.”

That’s a HUGE difference – explains so much….AND, my question has now been answered!

    This made my day! 🙂
