Two years ago was the inauguration. The politics and apparent deceit surrounding it rolled out from the get-go, as chronicled exquisitely on this site:

I remember that the comments section ended up being a good place for attendees to post their experiences and add reality to the lockstep narrative from the message shapers. This was one that had some pictures and video that filled in some gaps:

Ana Navarro “… the country he defended and sacrificed and wore the uniform for. It is people like Nathan Phillips (so-called “Native American Man”) who make America great. “

How did he defend the country? As near as I have heard, he was a “Vietnam Era Veteran” which means he, like Blumenthal (D, Conn), didn’t even go to Vietnam, which wasn’t defending the country anyway, just defending fools and liars like LBJ, McNamara and the Joint Chiefs and their selfish depraved inability to admit they made a big mistake, instead of getting tens of thousands of additional American troops killed for nothing achieved even remotely worth the cost..

It is a strange world we live in. For some years after Vietnam, those who went there were considered zeroes and low class losers. The last few years it has transmuted into all heroes and nobility. The only commonality is that neither much resembles the truth.

As a young army brat I I twice watched my father depart for Vietnam not knowing if I would ever see him again. Thank God he returned and he retired after 20 years of service as a career officer.

He sacrificed his life for this country, for our freedom, values and liberty. He served his country with pride and he never questioned his service as being “second class” because the Vietnam War was not a favored war of our country. He just performed his “duty” to Honor and Serve.

In my eyes my father was and always will be a “HERO” for risking his life to serve our country.

            Franklin,

Your comment is laughable. You never had the experience of being in the military but accuse those who have of worshipping satan and working for Globalists.

So you have no intelligent response to the previous post only blatant lies, snark, personal attacks to our military who have died defending “your” right to speak freely, and to all the Gold Star families who have lost loved ones serving in our military.

You, and the above posters, who have the gall to state that we who have served, in the blood and the sand, and the jungles, seeing our friends die think we are some kind of “Nobility” are just showing what weak, vile, individuals you really are.

And I would virtually guarantee you……you say this kind of garbage to a veterans face, more than likely all of you would end up on your asses.

What has the US gained in all its wars? The US has lost many great individuals who were needed. Trillions of dollars were wasted on foreign adventures that neither made America safe nor prosperous.
Families have lost loved because of many different occurrences. It is a tragedy for all.

Even had the United States attained a conclusive military decision, its cost would have exceeded any possible benefit. Vietnam was then, and remains today, a strategic backwater, and the US decision to fight there in the 1960s was driven by a doctrine of containing communism that in the 1950s was witlessly militarized and indiscriminately extended to all of Asia. Bernard Brodie observed in the early 1970s that “it is now clear what we mean by calling the United States intervention in Vietnam a failure. We mean that at least as early as the beginning of 1968 even the most favorable outcome could not remotely be worth the price we would have paid for it.
U.S. Army War College Quarterly – Winter 1996-1997

The war was only made possible through lies and deceptions aimed at the American public, Congress, and members of Lyndon Johnson’s own administration. Contrary to Robert McNamara’s claims of ignorance and overconfidence during the period 1963-1965, the record proves that he and others were men who not only should have known better, but who did know better. These men and the decisions they made during those crucial months mired the United States in a costly war that could not be won at a cost acceptable to the American public

And thank you John Carlson for mentioning the desire to contain Communism around the world that went into that decision. Our military did not lose that war; victory was pulled out from under them. Yes, it was foolish of our leaders to fight a land war in Asia. But honor the many brave men who fought and who fought and died in Vietnam.

When you also remember the millions who were slaughtered by Communist leaders after our pull-out, you get some sense of reasons at the timer for such a battle — and for the one we and President Trump are having to wage in “peace time” right here at home. The Communist secular religious purpose is total tyranny — death to all freedom.

We were forced to live through a Communist as President for 8 years. Never imagined that this would happen to the United States of America. At least he was forced to hide the truth at each election or he would have not been elected or reelected. Only when they thought they had us by the throat did they come boldly out and show their murderous colors.

The leaders and the brave men in uniform are two different issues.

Brave men in uniform fighting and dying are the reason that you have the freedom to insult them on an Internet comment section.

We are all upset with the direction our leadership has taken, it’s why we voted for PDJT. Don’t blame the brave men and women who put their lives on the line for others, like you.

I come from a military family. For every veteran who is a liar and a vagrant, there are twenty veterans who are ordinary citizens who gave all they had for their country and to protect their fellow Americans. It is more noble than anything you have done, and you should not belittle that sacrifice.

Franklin, you asked, “What has the US gained in all its wars?“

First off, we won our right to be a sovereign nation. We refer to that was as the Revolutionary War. Without that war, you, Franklin, wouldn’t likely have all the rights that you have. Such as posting your opinion.

Then there was the Civil War. One of the many benefits of the outcome of this war was the end of slavery. IMHO, this was something worth fighting for.

Both WW1 and WW2 certainly benefitted Europe (and Asia with WW2) by our involvement, but both also benefitted us by removing tyrannical forces that arguably would have come for our homeland eventually. Avenging those who died at Pearl Harbor is another reason for the second war.

Korean and Vietnam engagements are more debatable on whether it was worth the lives lost and money spent.

And all the recent wars in the Middle East, IMO, take the battle to the terrorists rather than having those battles here. It’s difficult to imagine what our lives would be like if Al Queda would have been left alone and allowed to flourish. We could have perhaps spent less and accomplished more, but doing nothing would have not ended well.

Enjoy your freedom to anonymously bash those who defend you. I’ll thank them for you.

                RoninInCA, Gunny,

The armchair Warriors in DC caused the military to lose the war in Vietnam. — I was an Army Officer’s wife stationed in SC as ‘Nam was winding down and caught an earful from the returning NCOs and Officers.

At that time we had a DRAFT! My Ex was a basic training officer and some of the Troopies were really really SAD. As he said a recruiter sat next to the judge and often the judge gave the convict a choice of the Army or jail. When we were stationed in Germany, every Monday he had to go and bail his troops out of the German jail. BTW 🙄

As far as this POS who set up these boys is concerned, being a Vet says nothing much about him given the facts around those drafted into the Army in the 1960s-70s

I grew up around and served with all types of American Heroes.. The political policy animal has not always been friendly to my family and friends.. So I venture lightly into these debates.. There are a lot of well read people that post here.. I fortunately and unfortunately have lived around people that lived it.. Growing up being taught The No Hostage Rule? As young kid I didn’t really get it.. Later in life it made sense..

My service does not make me a hero.. I just Love my Country.. Serving in the armed forces is not for everyone.. Loving your country and being proud to be Americans is the hill we should all stand on together..

This thread went off the tracks which unfortunately deflects away from Nathan Phillips’ behavior toward a child.

If it had been a young Native American kid cornered by, let’s say, a guy wearing a leather Bikers for Trump vest, it wouldn’t matter if the guy was a vet or not, the adult shouldn’t go after a kid, OR, try to silence anyone’s free speech being exercised in a peaceful, lawful setting. If Chelsea Manning was harassing a high school age kid exercising his right to peacefully assemble, hopefully we’d still defend the child, even though Chelsea thinks he can alter his DNA and also was once a soldier.

I am not a veteran but am the daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter however many times it takes to go back to ancestors that fought in the Civil War, War of 1812 and the Revolution, and am a niece and cousin of veterans. I live in an area heavily populated by both active duty and retired military, in fact all my neighbors fit either category. (Our neighborhood is quite safe and Old Glory hangs from every porch.)

Speaking only for myself along this line of debate appearing here this morning, I know I owe my life and freedom to God and the United States Armed Forces. There are some, albeit very few, exceptions when the wearing of a military uniform does not elevate someone to lifelong hero status. If believing that qualifies me to get knocked on my old backside, so be it. Another day, another battle.

I don’t know what, if any, military service can be credited to Nathan Phillips but his protest against our President is not limited to this incident as photos of him beating his drum outside Trump Hotel in DC are circulating.

BHO must be so proud this morning. Another minority group is organizing, making news, becoming the darlings of CNN, attacking conservative, Christian white people–a minor child, no less. The child is getting death threats and his Catholic school is targeted now for protest. Standing up for the unborn while wearing a MAGA hat has now sentenced this young American to a dose of hell on earth.

We have free speech here, so go at each other as ye see fit, but maybe this storyline which is very serious and concerning should be the focus rather than debating whether or not every person ever wearing a military uniform is deserving of lifelong hero status. And word to the wise–if you have a beef with our military, it doesn’t fit here, please.

99.9% of our military personnel definitely are heroes thru all eternity, thanks be to God for every single one, including many commenters here, but on rare occasion there’s a Beau Bergdahl, too. Just pointing that out, IMHO, doesn’t constitute ungratefulness, lack of respect or being unpatriotic. It’s a shame to get distracted this way when a kid is under attack.

I pray the young man in this situation and those like him are protected and safe.

I agree, farmhand. Nathan Phillips inappropriate behavior is the core of the issue, not the military, but I would include in the responsible parties, the all-too-predictable behavior of the media. The “reporters” own an equal share of the responsibility for their own lack of integrity and unquestioning willingness to sell out truth for a biased narrative. There was video available that showed the story they wanted to be true wasn’t, but it didn’t matter.

The media still believes and operates under the assumption that the benefits of the narrative outweigh the consequences of exposure, and see no connection between their attempts to “shape opinion”, their low ratings and the public’s perception that they’re fake news. They blame POTUS, but their “news shaping” predated POTUS by many decades. Their biggest lie is the one they tell themselves. They may believe they live in a titanium safe space because they call themselves “news”, but their view of the real world is gravely distorted by the pretty iridescent colors of looking out from inside a child’s frail soap and water bubble.

This bogus story is on the front page of our newspaper this morning. It’s an AP story, but the newspaper itself is responsible for the validity of the articles they choose to print. Will they retract it? On the front page? I think we all know the answer to that.

        • Bob, it’s odd that anyone who wore the uniform and took the oath to defend the Constitution would insist that another person cannot exercise free speech to express her or his judgments.

Apart from that, having worn the uniform for only a couple of years, I recall many who did so just because they were drafted; others did so because they merely wanted a career and a pension in twenty years.

Motives for wearing the uniform vary greatly.

Yes, we should always respect those who truly acted heroically and truly sacrificed something in the service of our country. Yes, we should respect any who lost life or limb during that service, even if we cannot know their heart of hearts for why they were there.

We should respect persons for the actual deeds they do or did. But just wearing the uniform is pretty much only similar to saying words.

      • Absolutely. When I was last in PR I had the misfortune of mooring next to a Vietnam vet who was a former drug smuggler and Trump hating democrat who grudgingly spent one year in the military and has received free health care and government handouts for 50 years. He had his Army stickers on his boat and Truck to show everyone that he was once in the military. He loved people thanking him for his service, it gave him the opportunity to launch into his “Nam” stories.
He was probably the most immoral, vile human being that I was ever had the misfortune to have met. Of course I have also met many veterans who are exactly how they are portrayed, great and patriotic people. I judge people on who there are not on what organization that they once belonged to.
And Vietnam was just another of the immoral money spinning scams that crooks like LBJ have been inflicting on us over the last 60+ years.

    • They simply refuse to admit reality. One of two things happened. One they were “fed” a leak to see if they ran with it (hook line and sinker swallowed) or two, they mis interpreted (because of their Trump bias) a “narrative feed” that the Mueller team was going to spread to continue to smear the President by innuendo.

These two idiots most likely ran with a “narrative feed” as a TRUE leak. In other words, they believed their own BS. This WAS NOT supposed to be portrayed as FACT, and was NEVER supposed to lead DIRECTLY to Mueller. but because of their inherent desire to get Trump AND be the ones responsible for “the fall” than ran with it. FOOLS.

They SHOULD be fired. But, they won’t. The ONLY good thing to come out of this was Mueller had to “abandon” their narrative and PUNT QUICKLY. Why? because that would have been a DIRECT tie to Mueller and a leak, and THAT would have (may still but don’t count on it) given Whittaker and DOJ a reason to perform a much needed colonoscopy on the Mueller probe and all the shenanigans therein.

The other good news is that these two boys who cried wolf have lost ALL credibility. They plastered some much needed humility on themselves and the entire MSM Trump haters. They ALL ran with this BS, and now they ALL have egg all over their collective faces. It shows all their TRUE stupidity and hatred that they are even still in some corners trying to revive this dead horse.

In their eagerness they exposed Mueller and Mueller had to disown them. It’s great isn’t it? By the way it also exposes, again, how there is very little real reporting. “Reporters” making a living reporting on news feeds or just google searches of reports based on summaries of reports from other sources. None of which are checked. In this case, I hope there were stories with the throwaway line, “At the time of this story, the Mueller SC have not yet responded to questions.” Then (((BOOOM))).

(notice how the left is NOW attacking Christians and Cathoilics…they NEVER stop, they just shift from “outrage” to “outrage”) The REAL racist “native” American is the one who approached and got in the face of those kids simply BECAUSE they were wearing MAGA hats. Some socialist journalist took to twitter to SMEAR these kids and THEN dox them.

If these kids had “Black lives matter shirts” and were screaming (not singing) REAL racial epithets at police or Vets, the MSM would have been either crickets OR would be trying to smear the vets or Police as racist toward those “courageous” youths.

        Iran for well-known reasons.

But Turkey under Erdogan has embraced the Muslim Brotherhood and espoused dreams of recreating the Ottoman Empire. Erdogan needs oil to do that and has none. His military foray into Kurdish Syria has all the signs of expanding the Turks generational battle with the Kurds into an attempt to seize their Iraqi oil fields. The Saudi military is no match for the Turks and any pretense that they will defend the Kurds is wishful thinking. POTUS threat to economically devastate Turkey is the only thing holding Erdogan back. If Trump is not re-elected in ’20, the Turks will strike.

One more reason for Trump to re-evaluate our position with NATO in light of Turkey being the SE bulwark of that alliance, one now in serious question.

Well worth your time. I will highlight this bit, as we had a risible statement on that thread basically offering false equivalences and a PRC analysis on the Taiwan situation.

“Amid increasing tensions with Beijing, the Pentagon on Tuesday released a new report that lays out U.S. concerns about China’s growing military might, underscoring worries about a possible attack against Taiwan.

Speaking to reporters, a senior defense intelligence official said the key concern is that as China upgrades its military equipment and technology and reforms how it trains and develops troops, it becomes more confident in its ability to wage a regional conflict. And Beijing’s leaders have made it clear that reasserting sovereignty over Taiwan is their top priority.”

I am very upset by what has happened to these kids but to say they were respectful and polite is, in my opinion, a stretch. When we were in DC recently we witnessed many of these student groups (and adults as well) who had no restraint in their behavior in places that should be treated with a bit more reverence. While they have the right to scream and yell and jump around at the Lincoln Memorial, maybe it wasn’t the best choice. I have teen children and I would be disgusted if they behaved that way.

I don’t doubt that they would have been singled out by virtue of their hats, but they did themselves no favors by acting like they were at a high school sporting event at one of our nation’s monuments.

@ ainin, I get what you’re saying, but remember that these children were a church group meeting for the bus, after they went sightseeing in smaller groups.

I’m proud the church took them to DC to March for Life, instead of some random field trip to a theme park. This was a civic lesson, not so common in today’s society, and these kids are our future leaders. They had every right to be there.

I don’t blame the chaperones for pointing to the biggest monument in the area and saying, “Let’s meet up back here.”

The “singing” didn’t start until these children were targeted by the liberal agitators and paid protesters lurking at the monument. Those were the people who turned the area into a battleground, not the kids.

Unfortunately, when you visit DC you can expect demonstrations and other activities that may disrupt your day. In fact, that is par for the course these days in any lawless, blue sanctuary city.

I am disgusted by how these kids have been treated and I said that as well. Why is what I said seemingly irritating to you? Do I have to fall totally in line with the story that these kids handled everything perfectly?

The ones who cannot run are the ones who became citizens at or after birth by some naturalization process. If born outside of the US, then it’s necessary to have at least one parent who is a US citizen to convey citizenship on the baby (like Ted Cruz). This is why Barry could run for President even if he had been born in Indonesia or Africa, he would be like Ted Cruz.

He worked for a federal contractor. They could have let him go for violating their media policy. It’s usually the easiest threshold to fire someone who is a whistleblower. They are allowed to give documents to IG teams and possess the off site but not allowed to have media contact. With twitter and SM being fuzzy media in the law still…The contractor’s general council may have decided that they were willing to risk having him let go.

The question is about the $…what REALLY could happen to the contractor who let him go…

        This sums it up

Damages Available for Retaliation and Whistleblowing Claims
How much you might collect if you win a retaliation or whistleblowing case depends on the basis and strength of your claims. For most wrongful termination cases, a winning employee can ask for:

back pay: wages and benefits you lost as a result of being wrongfully fired
reinstatement or front pay: you can ask the court to give you back your job or, if that’s not feasible, to award you the wages you will lose going forward until you find a new job
out-of-pocket losses: any expenses you had to pay as a result of being fired, such as the cost of searching for a new job, and
        attorneys’ fees and court costs.

SOOOO…while he was employed he COULD NOT GO TO THE MEDIA….

HE is now UNSHACKLED protecting his family’s income and staying away from media

So your question about is the company leftist??? Maybe not…

Shar Yaqataz Banyamyan facebook video – YouTube

It’s ironic that on a day the media will celebrate Martin Luther King, when they will swoon over his iconic call for love and brotherhood and inclusion, that this same media will continue, unabated, its ongoing campaign of hatred, bigotry, harassment and lies against the white race….in particular white males. Yesterday’s “Covington Hugh School Hoax” was a breaking point for me. If you have a son or grandson, you had better become aware.

Please watch these videos…preferably the ENTIRE 2 hour video. The media did not show the Black protestors making vile homophobic remarks, making anti-white slurs, telling these kids to “go back to Europe.”…”You being WHITE!”

    Nope.

The media did not show the Native American activist as the bully and harasser he was…walking up to these kids…creating the confrontation…banging his drum in the young man’s face.

Why wasn’t that shown? Well, of course, because that’s the TRUTH…but, but, but…the media is not interested in the truth. No, the truth would not fit the desired and demanded metanarrative. Certain individuals are protected by the Democratic media’s Selective Empathy clause.

White skin hue precludes us from that special treatment. That was t “the Dream” as I recall. As part of the generation that thrilled to the words of MLK and did our damndest to raise our families with his goals in mind…I can’t just be quiet as this new odious and virulent Racism rises again. Because the victims are white now, does not make it moral or righteous or forgivable.

There is an insidious campaign going on in our media. Once you see it, you cannot unsee it. Almost daily, a video and story like this is run. It’s purpose is twofold. America must be taught what skin hue to hate and the Democratic victim voting blocks must be given red meat to stay together.

Third and fourth generation kids in the rusted out trailers of coal country, or mill country should remain forgotten, unassisted out of their poverty, unassisted with scholarships, or set-asides, or government job preference assistance. They have, the tender hearted geniuses of Academia tell us…”white privilege.” Living as I do in a county where 76% of these kids live below the poverty line, and stand shivering waiting coatless for the school bus, head lice rampant because the cost of lice kids is prohibitive to their families…I’m searching for why they don’t qualify for compassion.

I found it. They don’t vote for Democrats.

I believe Martin Luther King would vomit at the state of this country today.

These kids from Covington High remind me of the three innocent Duke Lacrosse players. The “victim” in that Hoax was described always in the most loving and attractive terms….a young Mother, brilliant student, only stripping to get an education. “Sister Survivor.” In truth, Crystal Mangum was a local prostitute with drug and alcohol addictions and her “rape kit” was loaded with DNA from multiple men, but no Lacrosse player. She later murdered her boyfriend.

Sister Survivor. The real “survivors” were the young men vilified in every form of media worldwide.

The “victim” in the Covington Hoax is a Leftist activist…and video proves HE was the bulky, the harasser, the agitator. But his wrinkled visage is lovingly carried above articles describing him as a “Elder” and a “Veteran.” Hey, lies are a-okay.

Already on Twitter there are death threats against these kids. There is a campaign to urge Universities to deny entrance to any child from this high school. Anyone who even reads this mornings articles can see the media still is schilling for their narrative.

Oh well, I’m sure if there was a video of three “marginalized” teenagers wearing Obama shirts, staring “disrespectfully” at an old white man (not that THAT could ever, ever happen) …well, I’m sure that would make front page international news too.

    Happy MLK day.

I’m not friended with this person he is friended with an acquaintance of mine, but I’m trying decide if and how I should report him to the local police as he was adamant that culling those kids should be done.

The Covington horror story needs to remain front and center. Trump does indeed need to mention it. It exemplifies the “narrative” evil and moral inversion too fully to ignore or allow to pass. The multitudinous ways in which the Catholic kids were set up, attacked and smeared is at a level beyond belief, clearly revealing the arrogance and invincibility these Leftists and media feel. This is in every respect a war, and we need to understand it as such.

Yes, it certainly can be. In old school terms, those that have “seen the elephant” can not adequately describe it to those that have not–you have to have lived it/experienced it/seen it yourself. To those that have seen the elephant, no words are necessary.

On the other hand, an experienced law enforcement officer, an EMT, a fireman, and other professions and civilians who were caught up in wars/tragedies/disasters can easier relate to a 3 tour veteran than a new recruit, a newbie 2nd Louie, or desk jockey General.

It is not a uniform that separates the viewpoint and understanding, it is the experience of having seen the elephant. I have seen the elephant from each of the above perspectives both in and out of uniform.

My life’s goal has always been that my wife, my 4 children, and my 12 grand children will not have to see the elephant. But if they do have to, that they will have the same life long goal that I have had.

A clear and simple explanation about how the size of the national debt and deficits DO matter, how the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is pure GARBAGE because of what it DOESN’T measure (intentionally to avoid COLA increases) and how inflation is MUCH higher than the CPI indicates. Also an interesting explanation about why gasoline has become cheaper while diesel has gone up in price.

MONETARY AND FISCAL FRAUD IS NOT MODERN; THIS SCHEME IS JUST A NEW CONJOB LAYERED ON A THOUSANDS-YEAR OLD SCAM THAT IN FACT DATES BACK TO HAMMURABI.

A few years ago I debated one of these a**clowns on Lauren Lyster’s show back when she was allowed to actually let guests speak, on RT believe it or not. He was going on and on claiming the government could simply add more and more money to the system and it would all be OK.

When it came to be my turn I held up a bill on camera and ripped it in half, then proclaimed that by law if I said half a $20 was just as good as a whole one I now instantly had twice as much money! Of course I still have the same number of cars or ears of corn in the world as I had 5 minutes beforehand so what do you think will instantly happen to the price of a car or ear of corn?

BTW, the current BS CPI methodology was the result of the Boskin Commission:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boskin_Commission

“The Boskin Commission, formally called the ‘Advisory Commission to Study the Consumer Price Index’, was appointed by the United States Senate in 1995 to study possible bias in the computation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which is used to measure inflation in the United States. Its final report, titled “Toward A More Accurate Measure Of The Cost Of Living” and issued on December 4, 1996, concluded that the CPI overstated inflation by about 1.1 percentage points per year in 1996 and about 1.3 percentage points prior to 1996.”

It had a 50/50 chance of finding that inflation was UNDERSTATED but, of course, you just know it had to result something favorable to the government’s facade.

Why Michael Boskin Deserves Our Contempt
      January 19, 2010

      https://ritholtz.com/2010/01/why-michael-boskin-deserves-our-contempt/

      Excerpts:

“The debate about the CPI was really a political debate about how, and by how much, to cut real entitlements.”
      – Greg Mankiw, chairman of George W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers from 2001-2003

For those of you who may be unaware, Boskin is the economist/weasel/fraud who helped to officially distort the CPI, making it more or less worthless as a measure of inflation. The Boskin Commission was an act of fraud, a backdoor method to suppress Social Security cost of living adjustments (COLAs). To be blunt, it was an act of cowardice. Rather than man up and say “fix this, its broken, we can’t afford it” the commission took a different route — they fabricated a series of nonsense adjustments that artificially lowered CPI by 1.1%.

The Boskin Commission’s massive government falsehood allowed former Fed Chair Alan Greenspan to take rates to absurdly low levels, as the official CPI data showed no inflation, despite double digit price increases.

As such, he is one of the contributors to the financial collapse.

The specific fraudulent methods of the Boskin Commission are laughable. That the Economics profession failed to kick him out of its membership is as much an indictment of the profession as it is about Boskin.

My two favorite pieces of Boskin intellectual fraud are substitution and hedonic adjustments.

Hedonic adjustments are addressing the improvement in quality as a form of deflation. For example, the price of a new car in the U.S. had risen from $6,847 in 1979 to $27,940 in 2004. Using hedonic adjustments, the government calculated the price of a new car had risen from $6,847 in 1979 to $11,708 in 2004.

These adjustments wildly distort not only CPI data but GDP as well. Bill Fleckenstein calculated that the hedonic adjustments of faster computer chips and dropping costs massively jacked up the productivity data and GDP data from 1995-2002.

Substitution is a nonsensical approach that adjusts inflation for consumer behavior. When steak prices rise, consumers “substitute” cheaper proteins such as hamburger or chicken. Thus, Boskin states, the consumer is spending no more than they previously were, and is not suffering inflation.
