Yes, Donald Trump is absolutely sublime as President. He is really doing a magnificent job, despite his internal opponents.

However, he flashed the “OK” sign (yes, yes I know that brain-dead Democrats still believe this) – why can’t I do a bit of trolling?

Just don’t get surprised when your tease is taken seriously. Lack of indicators obscure subtlies for some readers.

It’s like reading the text of a comedy routine. Lack of non-verbal signals, like facial expression and tone of voice, often kill the humor.

Blunt – that’s the nature of social media. It’ll get sharper in time, but the limitations are something to bear in mind for now.

You may actually be stretching the boundaries in a positive way. Watch out for brickbats!

    • bertdilbert says:

Trump totally owned that presser! Saudi Arabia has a history of punishing countries that go against them. If Trump took action against them, the first thing they would do is order S-400 missile systems from Russia. Saudi Arabia knows the S-400 is a very sore spot with the US.

The press however thinks that handing Billions to Russia is somehow a good idea.

  7. Trump: “Because its America First for me. We’re not going to give up hundreds of billions of dollars in orders.” Say what?! The American people don’t think money is more important than our independence and national security. It’s just selling our country out to the Middle East for money. Americans are patriots, which means you can’t buy us. Especially selling military equipment to terrorists like the Saudis. That doesn’t make Americans proud or free from Middle Eastern foreign influence.

So much for what Trump won on, April 2018:
‘With ISIS on the run in Syria, President Trump this week declared that he intends to make good on his promise to bring the troops home.’

“I want to get out. I want to bring our troops back home,” said the president. We’ve gotten “nothing out of the $7 trillion (spent) in the Middle East in the last 17 years. . . . So, it’s time.”

Until we have an America First foreign policy, no world police as the American people have been voting against for decades and Trump himself said he was against, we’ll never have our country back in the American peoples hands for American interests.

I don’t like torture and dismemberment of news reporters (including Daniel Pearl… and Michael Hastings, who was writing an article about Brennan?) but for the media to suddenly get worked up about this stinks of their partisan anti-Trump agenda. Tired of being manipulated by partisan media

We are no longer going to be the World Cop that fixes every little wrong (and it was wrong, said PDJT) anymore. President Trump knows we have to focus on MAGA and KAG, and that is what he does, Press be damned.

He didn’t sanction the Saudis. That would like amputating your leg to get rid of a wart on your toe. He did sanction the 17 (so far) individuals that could be tied to to Kashoggi’s murder, and that is in America’s best interest.

      • We don’t need a relationship with Saudi Arabia is the point. We are energy independent, finally, and that was the one thing we all said was keeping us tied to the Saudis, oil. We kept saying for decades that to extricate ourselves from the ME, we had to be oil independent. Well now we are. We can drop them now and their baggage that is destroying us.

        • mimbler says:

Well, I disagree, as I think a relationship with SA is still advantageous to the US.

Also, Saudi kicked him out of the country for being openly anti-Trump during a meeting. The guy was pro-Brohood and anti-Trump — why should our President (or the majority of the country) give two whiffs about him? Investigate, communicate with KSA to show some consideration with regards to American citizens (after all, we don’t want it to become a habit) and then,

Agree totally @Mimbler. If Kashoggi had not had strong ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, WAPO, and the Deep State, this would never have received the publicity it has. IMO, our relationship has been MUCH better with the Saudis since MBS, the Crown Prince, heir to his father, King Salman, became their ‘leader’. POTUS knows what is best, and if the Left is desperate about it, reinforces that fact.

I love Ron Paul and supported his candidacy. However I also had a suspicion that he would not be a good snake handler. Ron Paul is a very good man and would be a great neighbor and local politician — but in dealing with the sociopaths of the world I don’t think he’d “get” what they are up to and might get snookered because he’s too fine.

When Trump came down the escalator, I knew he could handle the presidency because he has managed to thrive in NYC, snake central of snakes from all over the world. I lived there for a while, and i don’t think I’m exaggerating.

Trump is my leader and he can do what he has to do and I’ll be grateful. Other people just get us killed. Sainthood and heaven can wait, I’ve still got stuff to do here. Thank you for doing a supremely difficult job Mr. President (and all your staff too)

The deep state took Ron Paul out early, he was talking about CIA/deep state malfeasance in the 1980s. He ran for president on it as a Libertarian. They saw him coming and the uniparty took him out in 2008 and 2012, before the deep state needed to.

They saw Trump coming too, the uniparty couldn’t do it, so the deep state moved on him. Trump has exposed that, but if you watched Ron Paul’s primary campaigns, the pattern of attack was IDENTICAL.

Ron Paul specifically warned, just after the 2016 election in an interview on RT, that he had high hopes for Trump, being an “outsider”, but it would be difficult to maintain “independence”, because there were “powerful forces”, a, “deep state”, or “shadow government”, that are, “out of control of our government”, and “out of view” of so many citizens.

When your own party, makes you sign a loyalty oath, attacks you, locks you out of state primaries, and locks you out of the convention…you’re going to need a battering ram.

Think of how much time and focus was shaped by preparations for ‘the midterms.’

So many facets of the agenda were stalled, qualified, held back, deferred for electioneering purposes. Everything pertaining to swamp draining was also filtered through mid term considerations.

A presidential term flies by quickly. Half of the first two years is shaped by positioning for the midterms. The parties are mobilizing, creating narratives and taking action with the election in mind. Just think of all the rallies where the President couldn’t attend to business, but had to travel around the country for candidate support rallies. Not to mention all the posturing by all parties on both sides purely intended for election purposes.

A lot was accomplished, but with an obstructionist Republican Party the President had to put in extra time, effort, strategizing merely to generate the type of response that would be automatic for a deep state candidate. All the Republican resignations for instance, ate up more time and concentration than under usual circumstances.

My point is that it will be mere months before all the preparation for 2020 hit full stride. If they haven’t begun on some level already.

With this President, we may look back and be amazed that he managed to navigate through the quicksand to achieve the quality and quantity of accomplishments he has enacted or likely will.

But at the same time, imagine what more could be done with a co-operative Republican Party that was pro-actively MAGA intense rather than mostly neutral or hostile.

Now we basically can write off the next six weeks as holiday dead time for the lame duck government. More stalling till January when the equation changes and literal survival of this administration will be the daily narrative.

And kicking the can down the road till 2020 will be another built in excuse for stasis.

And as a side note, I am weary of all the Presidential quasi threatening tweets. What happened to stealth, surprise and cunning strategy?

Two years of repeating the same complaints over and over loses shock value. And in a way is dispiriting. If he is so aware, and can’t resolve the situation, then he is in a sense a virtual prisoner of the deep state. More Kafkaesque on a personal level within an Orwellian world.

With regards to (Sunni) Saudi Arabia, I so highly respect President Trump’s LOYALTY.

Any other president would have folded quicker than a folding chair after Thanksgiving dinner.

President Trump and the Saudis knew there would be an effort to derail their relationship.

That effort failed. Was (Shia) Iran behind Khashoggi’s gruesome death?

More than likely. Kill Khashoggi, blame the (Sunni) Saudi Prince and hope President Trump buckles under pressure….that was likely the plan.

That plan did not work out well for (Shia) Iran.

Behind the scenes, Israel and (Sunni) Saudi Arabia are working together with the United States to help (Shia) Iran get out of the Stone Age.

(Shia) Iran is America’s biggest threat in the Middle East – and they are backed by Russia and China.

If [the legislature] will positively enact a thing to be done, the judges are not at liberty to reject it, for that were to set the judicial power above that of the legislature, which would be subversive of all government.
