Thank you, Lou. I hate to say it, I get the feeling watching Mr. Sessions, that he is overwhelmed by the job. I’ve always liked Jeff Sessions, his stands on immigration have been critical to the country’s well-being. This just isn’t the job for him. How did they say it, gently into the night?

                That’s not what I got.
When Sessions was talking about it, he explained it had only been done once before, with this kind of Special Counsel, for the Waco disaster with the FBI, and Sessions was reviewing the precedent to make sure it qualified for another special counsel.
In other words, Sessions was trying to dot the “i’s” and cross the “t’s”, or am I dreaming that’s what I heard?

              • georgiafl I hope you are right. I am getting so demoralized by the lack of DOJ action. So many obvious illegal actions and yet nothing to show for it. I was hoping that the Hollywood eruption would lead to Podesta and the child sex trafficking but still nothing. I know these things take time to get all the ducks in a row but I need something to get my hopes back up. Our President is alone and it appears no one in his administration is helping him. I pray for him daily and for us, America, that we will prevail.

A look at DOJ site gives a pretty detailed list of their accomplishments. I am guessing Sessions has been pretty busy. He doesn’t have much help, he cannot just hire and fire as we would like, and he does work for Trump, who he meets with regularly.
I find it hard to believe he is as dull as some seem to think.
I am going to have to go with I am still in the dark here.
Trump is aggressively and strategically going after Foreign enemies.
It hard to believe he is going to tolerate Domestic enemies of the Country he loves so dearly.
I have no answers, but I don’t believe many who are angry have many answers either.
I’m more than willing to eat crow if Sessions turns out to be a dud, but until Trump reveals his moves upon the traitors and enemies in Congress, I find I have more patience than some.

I am no fan of sessions, but anyone with half a brain would struggle to find words in that snake pit. The very reason yesterday’s session was held was because of the way sessions worded an answer from a previous interrogation and then was accused of being a liar. I would stutter, puff up and be indignant too under those circumstances.

I was frustrated with the content (and lack of it) of his words.

JBS’ grand prosecutorial achievement, convicting key leadership/members of the Ku Klux Klan was a long time ago, across years, miles, and many many associations in the swamp. I’m not saying he’s a swamper and I haven’t given up hope he’s, quietly and with appropriate secrecy, doing a good job according to the MAGA blueprints but time waits for no one.

Also, on further thought, while taking down the KKK was a great argument against libtards, if you’ve known any KKKers in the last 40 years or so, it long ago ceased to be the fearsome super secret org it once was reputed to be. KKKers I’ve met (maybe half a dozen or so construction workers wouldn’t be much of a challenge for a minimally competent DA or AG. Maybe JBS is in over his head. I know that we had a big thread on Moore. Mitch appears to be suffering from a form of dementia that is not uncommon among elderly autocrats. The wheels start coming off and it turns out that they cling to power regardless of fitness. In a younger day the autocrat can mask his tyranny by many means, but with age they just cling.

    From Axios:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that if Alabama’s Senate candidate Roy Moore wins, he’ll face an ethics investigation immediately after he’s sworn into office. “It would be a rather unusual beginning,” McConnell said, speaking at a Wall Street Journal event.

“I’d like to save the seat, and it’s a heck of a dilemma when you’ve got a completely unacceptable candidate bearing the label of your party within a month of the election,” he added.
    _____________

Yeah, remember the good ole days when the lie was a ‘big tent’ party? Mitch is running his party now…you gotta look and sound like Mitch. And yeah, it is bigger that Mitch…but they all do look and sound like Mitch.

And yeah, the real important thing is to communicate to other Senate wannabes, first you have to be selected before you are elected. We don’t want any damn citizens involved in our party.

I had to force myself (and hubby) to vote on tuesday. I am committed to supporting Trump as long as he is in office, but we are losing ground. Here in PA, conservatives lost 3 out of 4 conservative judges. Prior 3 cycles we were winning 3 out of 4. Northampton county voted for Trump, but has returned to blue.

Imo, border wall and justice are needed for a 2nd term.

Your wrong about a “changing tide”–the blue states and districts just stayed blue. There are more Demonrat seats at risk in states that voted to MAGA last year than there are total GOP seats at risk. Some of the GOP seats at risk are never-Trump scumbags who need to be run out on rails anyway, so as long as we keep rowing in the MAGA direction, the tide will keep coming with us. Local judgeships aren’t national legislative elections–you can’t conflate them, unless there’s a whole lot more detailed information to support a comparison.

    Excerpt:

The author of the Atlantic article, Julia Ioffe, put a period rather than a comma at the end of the text about not wanting to appear pro-Trump or pro-Russia, and completely omitted WikiLeaks’ statement following the comma that it considers those allegations slanderous. This completely changes the way the interaction is perceived.

    >Snip<

There is a big difference between “because it won’t be perceived as coming from a ‘pro-Trump’ ‘pro-Russia’ source” and “because it won’t be perceived as coming from a ‘pro-Trump’ ‘pro-Russia’ source, which the Clinton campaign is constantly slandering us with.” Those are not the same sentence. At all. Different meanings, different implications. One makes WikiLeaks look like it’s trying to hide a pro-Trump, pro-Russian agenda from the public, and the other conveys the exact opposite impression as WikiLeaks actively works to obtain Donald Trump’s tax returns. This is a big deal.

Recusal is being used as an artifice for fraud when there is no unconflicted subordinate being delegated the task of prosecution by the person recusing because of a personal conflict. If a district attorney recused from a murder case prosecution because the alleged murderer was a family member of the district attorney, that doesn’t mean the murder will be ignored and the case not prosecuted, it only means that the duty will be performed by a different prosecutor who has no conflict.

Sessions is playing games with recusal and allowing recusal to be used as an EXCUSE for nothing to be done, shirking a DUTY to assign the same prosecution task to an assistant who is not compromised by any similar conflict. Congress should not even have to be conducting hearings and oversight and would not be needed unless the FBI itself was corrupt and refusing to conduct the investigation that is the DUTY of that agency, to work as the investigators for DOJ.

If the president gives the AG a lawful order to direct an investigation and prosecution of what appears to be a violation of law, and the AG does not comply with that lawful order, it is insubordination and they should resign or be fired for dereliction of duty and obstruction, for interfering with the president carrying out his own sworn duty to see to it that the laws are enforced. There isn’t any gray area about this. It is black and white.

Sessions is playing musical chairs with “ethics” about recusals and when the music stops Sessions is going to be out of a job because his “ethics” and ostensible “conflicts” are preventing him or the DOJ agency for which he is responsible doing its duty. The music should stop TODAY.

And that justifies the character assassination? The ridicule? The tearing down of what made CTH great?

The childish, mean-spirited comments and graphics are way below the standard on which CTH built its reputation. I’m not defending AG Sessions; I’m pointing out that this mud-slinging isn’t what a lot of treepers come here for. If that assumption is wrong, well, it’s a sad day for me.

Not directing this at elleb77…. just trying to place my comment in the thread.

Problem: Some of us PDJT supporters might be financially stressed as we approach the holidays…

Solution: Would YOU flip off the Prez for some quick EZ cash?

Count me out…I’m poor but proud of MY (globetrotting) PRESIDENT!

FTA: The cyclist who famously flipped off President Donald Trump’s motorcade has been showered with cash after her action got her fired from her job.

Juli Briskman was riding her bike on the same Virginia road as the president’s motorcade last month when she decided to show the commander-in-chief what she thinks about him.

Briskman said she made eye contact with Secret Service as she raised her middle finger.

Briskman’s government contractor employer, Akima LLC, said a viral photo of her gesture violated their social media policy, and they terminated her.

In the days since, a GoFundMe page has raised more than $80,000 of its $100,000 goal for the unemployed 50-year-old marketing executive.

The page calls Briskman “an inspiration to us all” and says she was fired for exercising her First Amendment rights.

She was fired by her employer for bringing negative attention to her employer. I haven’t read anything about some impending trial in front of some tribunal.

She should try flipping off Dear Leader in North Korea. Then she would clearly see the difference in a government with no 1st Amendment rights.

When child sex isn’t rape: French to set age of consent
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/child-sex-isnt-rape-french-set-age-consent-105241781.html

    Excerpt:

PARIS (AP) — Is a 13-year-old old enough to agree to sex with an adult? That’s a question France is asking as the government prepares to set a legal age for sexual consent for the first time.

Twice in recent weeks, French courts have refused to prosecute men for rape after they had sex with 11-year-old girls because authorities couldn’t prove coercion.

Exclusive: Former Joe Biden Secret Service Agent: We Had to Protect Women From Him, ‘Weinstein Level Stuff’
    Wednesday, November 15, 2017

A former Secret Service agent assigned to the Vice President Joe Biden residence claims that the Service often had to protect female agents from him.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the agent asserted that, “We had to cancel the VP Christmas get together at the Vice President’s house because Biden would grope all of our wives and girlfriend’s asses.” The annual party was for agents and Navy personnel who were tasked with protecting the Biden family.

“He would mess with every single woman or teen. It was horrible,” the agent said.

According to the source, a Secret Service agent once got suspended for a week in 2009 for shoving Biden after he cupped his girlfriend’s breast while the couple was taking a photo with him. The situation got so heated, the source told Cassandra Fairbanks, that others had to step in to prevent the agent from hitting the then-Vice President.

Additionally, the agent claims that Biden would walk around the VP residence naked at night. “I mean, Stark naked… Weinstein level stuff,” he added.

Vice President Joe Biden’s roaming right hand captured in White House reporter’s Facebook photo
    Dec. 17, 2013

A photo that The Hill’s White House correspondent Amie Parnes posted to her Facebook page of a Christmas party appears to show Biden with his right hand perilously close to an off-limits area of the reporter’s body — and her hands tensely holding the border.
Although Parnes has a smile on her face, she seems to be blocking Biden’s hands from moving any farther.

Since they already said that if Trump fires Sessions they won’t consider a new appointment, Trump might be negotiating – rescind his support for Moore in exchange for getting Sessions out of the AG position without having to fire him. If they willingly take Sessions for the Senate then Trump’s next AG appointment will be considered and likely approved.

NYT reporter wonders how Twitter’s going to handle this fake news about Joe Biden being creepy
    9:25 pm on November 14, 2017

As Twitchy reported Monday, Twitter user Richard Armande Mills (@RAMRANTS) compiled a number of video clips showing former Vice President Biden interacting with women — often young women and girls — in creepy ways. You know, the hair sniffing thing.

The New York Times’ Nicole Perlroth has caught wind of Mills’ thread and is wondering how Twitter is going to “handle” it.
