Sunday October 1st – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

      I enjoyed that. Never heard them before. At first I thought Northern Town USA but then realized the band (and the landscapes in the video) must be British, so Northern Town Great Britain! Also, thanks for the guitar performance of the Keith Jarret’s Köln Concert a week ago or so…

        A one-hit wonder, this group never did anything to equal this piece. You have to watch the video several times to see, but the period films are a curious blend of northern UK and 60’s America industrial town scenes. I’m glad you liked the Barrueco guitar performance. That CD has some splendid, yet seldom heard selections on it. I’ll post another one in a few days.

    I know its Sunday but there a story line opened by INFOWARS regarding the Oakland Raiders that may bust the whole “kneeling/protest” thing wide open. Seems Armstrong And Getty, a West Coast sports radio show, is bannering a story the Raider offensive line allowed their QB Derek Carr to be sacked twice in a row because he “didn’t support their protest” . There’s also hints some key receptions were dropped by receivers. Considering the amount of money gambled on these games this story – if true, and substantiated enough to cause an investigation by parties outside the NFL – could take all of the “protest value” out and insert shades of the Black Sox Scandal of baseball lore. Then things will get really interesting !

      Millwright,
      I’ve seen this talked about at Weasel Zippers and the Gateway Pundit. The story I heard is the white quarterback refused to kneel or whatever, and so his team turned against him. They claim he had only been sacked twice all of last year and this game it happened four times. They claim there are video on you tube proving this was all set up to take their QB down.

      I have absolutely no idea if this is true. I do know that I’ve copied their numbers correctly because I had made a note of it in the number of sacks. They said this was the Oakland Raiders who did this as well. Again, I could be copying falsehoods since I never did get the time to look up the videos claiming they could prove it, so please take this with a grain of salt.

      Honestly, I would think the coaches would know right away what was up and would’ve reviewed the plays to make sure their eyes weren’t deceiving them.

      I do know a lot of football fans were wanting all of them fired except the QB of course. I sincerely doubt that would happen so far into the season and having new players learn the playbook etc. but then what do I know? I don’t watch the game. Sorry about that.

      IF anyone knows more, please let us know.

        I’m much in the dark as you are MW ! But if this was a deliberate acton on the part of some Oakland players there has to be repercussions ! As i noted so much money is involved, ( via sports betting ) I’d suspect the players reps and the players themselves might find themselves in some “uncomfortable ” conversations if this proves true to fact !

        He was sacked 6 times in 15 games in 2016 and 4 times in this one game. What makes it even more suspect is that the Redskins were playing a four-forward offense, so there were only four players rushing the quarterback.

        Disclaimer: I have never been a football fan, but I was employed by a hall of fame player for nine years, so I have spent a lot of time trying to educate myself.
        One day he came into my office at 6:30am and asked me, “John if there is one question you would ask me what would it be?”.
        I said, “Was it worth it? Was four and a half years as one of the best players in the NFL worth the forty years of pain you feel every day?”
        He said, “Damn that’s a great question.” and started to walk away.
        I said, “So was it?”
        He said, “Yes”.
        FYI – Brian’s Song isn’t fiction.

            Women are dehumanizing women by rejecting a fetus and thereby denouncing womanhood and motherhood. This artist is looking at the wrong place in society what dehumanizes women.
            Women have begin to dehumanize each other by judging what size clothe they wear or clothe they wear. Just look how some women tried to dehumanize Malenia…?
            Some men also dehumanize women by watching porno by seeing women not as human being but only as sex objects. Society is informing this behavior.
            The statue does nothing and just shows how distorted view of women society has become.

      Isn’t that true for crime in general? How many criminals would there be if you only had a 10% chance of getting away with it? The Blessed State of the Righteous
    112 Praise the Lord!
    Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
    Who delights greatly in His commandments.
    2 His descendants will be mighty on earth;
    The generation of the upright will be blessed.
    3 Wealth and riches will be in his house,
    And his righteousness endures forever.
    4 Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness;
    He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
    5 A good man deals graciously and lends;
    He will guide his affairs with discretion.
    6 Surely he will never be shaken;
    The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.
    7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings;
    His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
    8 His heart is established;
    He will not be afraid,
    Until he sees his desire upon his enemies.
    9 He has dispersed abroad,
    He has given to the poor;
    His righteousness endures forever;

        I bet they do too. To me, the point is that is the National Institute of Health, throwing money out the window!!! So does the Nat’l Science whatever, and the Nat’l Arts group,etc.

          BigMama, guvmint money (free to them). There were studies I remember – Swedish massage for rabbits (or some similar creature), shrimp running on a treadmill and….Why are lesbians fat? Yeah, I could see where these are applicable to the every day person/s. Believe you can find these and other travesties in the Waste Book, originally started by your senator, Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla.

    Amazing video of Cassini’s historic voyage and final destruction. Click on the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory video, expand it to full screen (icon is in the lower right-hand corner of the video screen). Video is a little over 2 minutes long.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

    Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

    Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

    Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

    Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
    Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

    We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
    Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

    And, Lord, we pray for all the people who have been affected by the earthquakes and hurricanes.

    In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
